As a drummer living in Osaka Japan, I was overjoyed when I found Koide Cymbals are made less than a 20 minute walk from my house. Too bad they don't give factory tours. Loved this video!
Do you own one of these beautiful sounding cymbals?
@@nicogarbis4793 I don't, but here in Japan there are practice studios everywhere and one near me has different Koide models. The Brilliant ones are great hard rock cymbals
@@BanBanChi Cool, i would really like to try one out, but hard to find here in Germany! -But also a reason more to visit Japan one day:) Greetings
@@BanBanChireally there are practice room in Japan that you can rent? You mean in the big cities? Do you think in sabishii Niigata too?
@@bugrist Run a google maps search for 音楽スタジオ in your area. I did for Niigata prefecture and received about 20 results mostly in Niigata City. Sorry It's lonely out there... Ganbare!
9:52 Wow that sound That sustain! Great craft, superb quality.
The sustain in that last cymbal test was very impressive! You are making beautiful art!
That gave me goosebumps. Amazing!
their cymbals are about 1000 usd a piece, I'D HOPE SO. their 8 inch splash is three times the price of a k custom and those things are industry standard
As a Tool and diemaker/ Machinist/ Musician in America I pretty much thought I knew how these were made. I had no idea the amount of handwork and expertise involved with this, thank you for sharing this.
I'm not a drummer. But we helped our drummer to find his cymbals and got directly at the Paiste Factory in Switzerland.
I can remember the dedication of those peoples to their craftsmanship.
It's beautiful to see other peoples around the world, trying their best to offer the best quality to their customers.
In a day an age where everything seems to become cheap industrial goodl, it's a good thing to see.
Long live to Koide.
People are starting to appreciate had made things again - Im a tailor of bespoke historical suits, I dont even have a website I cant cope wiht the word of mouth orders.
I love watching cymbals being made. I was fortunate to have a tour of the Paiste factory in Switzerland many years ago. The small manufacturers like this one and the Turkish makers are really old school and use little automation. Very cool. The hand hammering alone - Ugh.
That's nice. There is nothing better than watching and appreciating ppl with great craftsmanship. It takes time and talent. It's hard to find places like this anymore.
*I admire the workmanship, there is great effort. We, like you, make beautiful cymbals in Istanbul. Hi from Istanbul*
Constantinople (today called Istanbul) is where cymbal making started over 400 years ago. Be proud of your great tradition: i've been playing Turkish hand made cymbals most of my life and to me they are the best.
That last hit in the cymbal was totally worth the process
Agree with you.
When I buy a instrument, I don’t care what the makers say, or how they made it. I just pay for the sound. Sound is the only way to judge the quality of an instrument.
History can’t make an instrument sound better.
Technology is always improving
6:35 holy molly. the dude is eyeballing the material removal in the lathe. (i know a lot of people do that, but for a musical instrument is always amazing)
There is skill and than there is that guy
The best cymbals are always hand turned and grooved. It can take over a decade to learn the process.
I’ve always believed the best things are MADE IN JAPAN or MADE IN GERMANY. I’ll stick with it.! The amount of handwork & a keen eye for detail the reason every drummer should spread the word KOIDE.
NOOOOOO 😂🎉😂 MADE IN ITALY THE BEST IN THE WORLD 😂🎉😂
@@lucarambaldi2731 😅
italy? they dont even have good music there.....@@lucarambaldi2731

These men dont just make cymbols, they make art.
Cymbals....
Creativity, beauty and harmony that is handcrafted in Japan. greetings from Switzerland
Very impressive, always love watching how things are made, trying to learn to play drums at 61 years old ,will enjoy the sound of a cymbal even more. Thanks for all your hard work and love that goes into your craft.
😊😊
Same at 64.
I believe that the cymbal actually creates the most sonically complex sound of any instrument with all the frequencies it creates.
Can’t say I have heard of you’re brand but I can say a lot of love goes in to making these awesome craftsmanship respect
so buy one then
yea, buy one!
You guys fking buy one 😂
@@palmeristo im not playing the drums anymore unfortunately 😬
Excellent work, compliments to the one at the lathe.
Trabalho lindo de grandes artesões! 👏👏👏
Qué platillo más versátil. Felicidades por un trabajo de excelencia. Ya quiero un set Koide Cymbals. Saludos
Parabéns amigo do Japão.
Wow! Beautiful Sounding Cymbals!
That was beautiful. Amazing craftmanship
Very interesting. I had no idea there was so much involved in making cymbals.
Probably not as much involved...with cymbals that most people can/would afford. All by hand units are very expensive.
Most impressive! The amount of handwork makes this a true artform! They must be very expensive, but are totally worth it!
I don't think I have ever seen any of your cymbals before...
Amazing Master ❤ thanks so much for your work!
Thank you. I appreciate the skill and expertise involved here.
They sound beautiful! What amazing tone. Excellent, well done.
Fascinating process!! Thank you.
So satisfying to watch! Now I know why quality cymbals cost so much 👍
Just Amazing !!! Big Up to those craft men who are masters in their jobs... 👏👏
Thanks for letting us watch the process!
That cymbal at the end of the video sounded absolutely beautiful.
Awesome process and sound!
Beautiful craftsmanship! :)

Thankyou so much, a very interesting video of your care in making a beautiful instrument.
Japanese make great drums. Never tried there cymbals. But the Japanese are very thoughtful in there crafts…. They also make great Whiskey and Beer
Hi from Brazil
Such a great sound. I can't believe it's mostly done by hand.
I didn't know there were any Japanese Cymbal Smiths. I went to their Site and heard a few samples, they were very good. Better than some of the newer Companies.
WHAAAT??? Turning by hand??? Awesome! Makes me wish I was still a drummer!
Loving the sounds of your cymbals
amyone who has done any lathe work should recognise the staggering level of skill involved
Not many has done metal lathing by hand tools.
It’s a kind of combination of turning and spinning; I you can probably only do it on a softish material like brass that work-hardens but also can be alloyed to machine freely.
Thanks for sharing.i didn’t know Japan had a cymbal factory.👍
Came for the cymbal making, stayed for the sound the quenching of the hot metal. That sounds was epic!
Interesting passionate musical people. Thank you for more choices in the cymbal world.
That cymbal sound great! Great Quality!
Maravilhas!
I know the guy who imports them for Australia, I played them on a kit he had in his showroom and they are absolutely spectacular!!
Thanks for sharing and allow me to observe your amazing process and skills
The quality of the work is truly impressive
Congratulations, manual made head to head. Perfect work and sound. Impressive!!!
Always enjoy these Japanese craftsmen videos.

Very cool, I did not know about this company. It is a real art to hand hammering the cymbal.
