Converting a Marching Snare into a SNOM For

  • This was a fun one! TJ had this old Pearl marching snare that he wanted to use on his drum set. So I converted it into a "snom" (snare/tom) I cut new bearing edges, rewrapped it, gave the hardware a good cleaning, and replaced some missing parts and added floor tom legs to it.

What was that new wrap called? It looks a lot like the wrap on my ltd edition pearl kit and I've always wanted to add another tom to it. The wrap on mine is called rainbow micro flake

Thank you for showing that.

Everything this dude touches turns to gold LOL. I would have never thought of doing this with a marching band snare. And that new finished is awesome. It's been a long time since I've seen black glitter. My kit is a PDP custom maple 7 piece with 14 + 16 inch floor Tom's. I don't use the 14 I think it's too small for a floor. But you gave me an idea to possibly convert it to a deep snare drum. Would like to try that someday.
