Sean Connery seriously without any doubt the most authentic MAN ever caught on film . His voice just warm and deep , his face just the perfect figure for most of us younger guys who wanted to flirt a girl and we tried to imitate his style ! just awesome actor and great man ! a good example of what a star is all about
Hahaha, I always get the chills when Sean Connery says " My name is Bond. James Bond." I never realized how hard it was to say it that way until I heard Spielberg's version. I know he was just quoting it in his speech so it has a different tone and all, but golly, just that one line! It's such a simple way to introduce oneself, but Connery managed to make it so much more. THAT'S talent.
Almost thought he was gonna cry after hearing Spielberg's tribute. Had Sean come back to be a Bond for a Spielberg film, it would've broke the box office so hard and put Gone with the wind to shame.
Timothy Dalton was underrated, he made a good bond. My favorite Bond is Connery, He made my favorite film Goldfinger. Best dialogue Definitely Roger Moore. Favorite villain Blofeld All the bond girls are beautiful. Ian Fleming is a genius
The first and (only?) Bond to actually get properly beaten up. He did a very good job I thought. A bit off topic its like Val Kilmer as Batman. Val Kilmer was actually good though the film itself was rather poor.
+andrew francis My best Bond was Connery, no doubt, Pierce Brosnan reached almost; because of his charisma, i never liked roger moore he was too cold, dalton ok, but Craig? no way.. only people who have no clube about James Bond would say he is the best..I really hate him (for Bond not as an actor)... For me the real evil was goldfinger, largo and of course, dr no.
A befitting tribute from a celebrity director to a celebrity James Bond .......The Original and arguably the best representation of Ian Fleming's character. Connery's physiognomy had all the masculine shades and confident body language that was required to make this spy character an instant hit in 1962.
Liam Connolly to each his own....i never put them against connery cause hes the best in my eyes, and craig just always seems boring to me, i never liked him....now i love Lazenby, so I can’t fight him on it
Yup, who else could possibly portray the father of someone larger than life like Indy? Well, the one who played someone even larger than that! And he was so perfect in that role too, without being actually anything like Bond. ;)
I won't say Brosnan was bad, he did well for trying to fill such tremendously large shoes as THE MAN of men one who has even been awarded Knighthood from the Queen mum herself. That man is James Bond, Sean Connery.
Maybe because I am old, but I just can't find nowadays a more charming actor like Sean Connery. These young men, with body piercing and tattoos, don't fit the bill. I guess it will take a while until the world of cinema finds him.
He actually played Bond in seven films. Number seven was Never say Never Again and came out in 1983. However, it is not part of the James Bond original series.
@Super8StrikesBack Spielberg was meant to do For Your Eyes Only but George Lucas offered him to do Raiders of the Lost Ark, which was released at the same year. Let's hope Spielberg will make a Bond movie soon!!
@bj2905 I think that in at least one of Ian Flemings books it stated that he wore a Rolex but, you are right, I thought the same thing when I heard that. It should be an Omega.
@bj2905 - No Bond wears a Rolex both in all the books and in all Sean Connery movies. The Omega was introduced (alone with German cars!) with Brosnan and Golden Eye in 1995 - google it!
Spielberg approached Cubby Broccoli, the Bond producer, in the mid 70s about directing a Bond film, and Broccoli purportedly refused. The Bond producers preferred to use directors that they could control and who didn't make great financial demands. It was only with the success of Skyfall, directed by Oscar winning Sam Mendes [American Beauty] that Barbara Broccoli decided to re-hire Mendes for the next Bond film.
Spielberg should be given a chance to direct one Bond Film with Craig... Now that Eon has a good Bond film, Spielberg should direct it Munich style(serious and captivating)... i don't want Indy style Bond, it's campy... If Spielberg still wants to do a Bond film, then now is the right time... If he made one before, it will be bad because of Moore...But now the time has come... Spielberg should clear his sched and start to beg Barbarra to do a Serious Bond Film for us FANS!
@WillShakespeare2007 I checked and you're right about the Omega starting with Goldeneye. I sure thought that they went back farther than that. I also found that Roger Moore wore a depressing number of horrible Seiko digital watches that I had somehow managed to forget. Ah, the 70s!
I can't say i've seen even close to all Bond films and people will probably hate me for saying this but, I love Daniel Craig as Bond. He's more like the book-style Bond and I think he's great!

Dalton was a great bond. He brought a certain tortured soul aspect to the character. If you read the novels, Bond was always a bit of a misfit.
