It's such a small scene, and I didn't get it right away. When Indy is struggling to grab the Grail (Basically because he knew how much it meant for his Dad). Henry doesn't want to lose his son and says "Indiana, let it go..." For the first time he calls him Indiana. Basically Henry chose Indy over the Grail. Small bit, but it really hits home. I think it would've been better if Sean Connery called him "Henry" at that time. Then, the scene later when it's revealed that his name is actually Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. would've been even more impactful.
It also helps that earlier we saw just how it impacted Henry when he thought his son died when the tank went over. I think it really shocked some perspective back into him too, so it was easy for him to have that moment with Indie at the end, he didn't want to lose his son again.

Funny thing is George Lucas proposed the idea about Indiana Jones to Steven Spielberg when he was thinking about filming the next James Bond movie. Lucas told Spielberg: "Don't do it. I have a better idea". The rest is History. Having Sean Connery, the original James Bond being Indiana Jones father was the circle being completed, as Darth Vader would say.
Connery here is only two years older than Tom Cruise currently is. With the balding head, lack of dying his beard, not shaving his head completely, it made him look 15 - 20 years older than what current day celebrities look like at the same age. Current face fills and surgeries help too, but I still feel the style things just made him look so much older than he was. He looks 70 - 75. Same age as current day Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I love that moment, where he thinks Indiana fell over the cliff and it's all sadness and, "The things left unsaid! The things we should have said! It would have only taken 5 minutes," just for the reveal that he's still alive and two seconds later it's, "well, let's carry on then!"
I saw this at the movies with my own father, and we both loved it and we watched it together many many times over the years, until he passed in 2009. The movie is a touchstone for me, and it always evokes loving memories of my father. Btw, he was interested In archeology and had been to the Treasury at Petra as well.
One of the great on screen partnerships. I can think of only Newman and Redford that have similar chemistry. Last Crusade is solid gold entertainment. I’d love to see a variation in Indy 5, where Ford has the older father role, forced out of retirement to rescue his son...The only actor working today who could compete with Harrison..? And so many more
They were amazing together i love that movie
jesus christ is late 80s Harrison Ford good looking
Yeah he was. And what about Sean Connery?!
He was Very well lit.
Ewan Mcgregor?
@@johnsmith-wx5fb Yes, I'm sure he smoked some that day.
Two of my favorite crushes in one movie!
RIP Sean Connery. Absolute legend
Two of the most handsome men to ever live and both fantastic actors ❤️
It shouldn’t really work but it’s so perfect 🙌🏻
This movie is a masterpiece, easily the best of the saga (but I get why some prefer the first one).
Indiana Jones forever and ever and as Ford said no one better than him playing a great character🙌🙌❤️❤️
Best one out of the indianna movies. James bond and indy in the same film. Fantastic chemistry and everything. Would have loved to have seen both of them in an interview with allison hammond. Loved the one she did with harrison about blade runner. Harrison is like a bottle of fine wine. Gets better with each year
Just loved the interplay between these two giants of the screen. These movies will always be relevant.
Rest In Peace Sean 😥😥😥 what an icon ❤️❤️❤️
Nice vid! Thanks for looking back on this.
RIP Sir Sean Connery ..you will forever be Bond James Bond💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
007 R.I.P.🙏🏻
The grail diary proudly resides in my house and I love it. Still one of my all-time favorite movies and certainly, by far, the best of the series.
Those two were a perfect combination in that movie and it worked out great with a good story
I could listen to Harrison and Sean talk about each other for years
This is for me my most favourite Indiana Jones movie ever ❤️❤️❤️
Connery here is only two years older than Tom Cruise currently is. With the balding head, lack of dying his beard, not shaving his head completely, it made him look 15 - 20 years older than what current day celebrities look like at the same age. Current face fills and surgeries help too, but I still feel the style things just made him look so much older than he was. He looks 70 - 75. Same age as current day Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Honestly this is 1 of my favourite indiana jones movie Harrison Ford and Sean Connery a funny collaboration.
Absolutely love these movies! Hope Indiana Jones 5 is good!
The shot of them riding off into the sunset in this was a perfect way to end the series. Anything else seems like they're resurrecting the dead.
R.I.P. Sean Connery. Hollywood lost a great Legend😭😢😿
was that river phoenix??? This movie got the finest men in Hollywood. Rest in peace Sean Connery and River Phoenix. Honestly watching this video made me sad
Rest in power, you will be dearly missed.
"Rest in power"? What the fuck is that?
I love that moment, where he thinks Indiana fell over the cliff and it's all sadness and, "The things left unsaid! The things we should have said! It would have only taken 5 minutes," just for the reveal that he's still alive and two seconds later it's, "well, let's carry on then!"
Good comedic moment rooted in truth
I saw this at the movies with my own father, and we both loved it and we watched it together many many times over the years, until he passed in 2009. The movie is a touchstone for me, and it always evokes loving memories of my father. Btw, he was interested In archeology and had been to the Treasury at Petra as well.
Incredible Team, lots off humor!! Real Good.🏆🦅🇺🇸🇩🇰🗽
Young indy and indy's dad were cast perfectly
One of the great on screen partnerships. I can think of only Newman and Redford that have similar chemistry. Last Crusade is solid gold entertainment. I’d love to see a variation in Indy 5, where Ford has the older father role, forced out of retirement to rescue his son...The only actor working today who could compete with Harrison..? That’d be Chris Pratt. Imagine those two playing off each other...
Good comparison to Redford/Newman.
I love these movies. Seen em a thousand times
I did 💙 this 🎥 in my teens(though my classmate didn't agree 😷 ...) especially River was playing young Jones 💐 for Sean & River that I 💜 ~You'll always be missing & remembered 💐 ~~
RIP Sean Connery 😢
They were outstanding together. The absolute best sequal?
Can't believe sean isn't dead, he's too much of a legend
Not to sound dark, but I do have him in my celebrity dead pool. Come to think of it, Harrison could probably go on that list about now too. Hmm...
Remember when movies and going to the cinema was this good? When they really made epics with proper movie stars! Seen Raiders, Temple of Doom and Last Crusade all in the cinema as a kid in the 80's, the second golden age of Cinema! (Well, 70's, 80's and early 90's were the last golden age of cinema!)
It's weird to think that they are only 12 years apart, yet he does look old enough to be his father.
I love Raiders, of course, but The Last Crusade has always been my favorite, and the dynamic between these two legends is a huge reason why.
The Fact that blew my mind in hindsigh: "They where 12 Years Apart in AGE?!!! WHAT?!!!"
I gasped at the River Phoenix sighting...I had forgotten his being in this flick. RIP River. 💓
He being earmarked to take over from Ford as Jones in prequel Raiders movies before he died.
"This is how Austrians say goodbye" .........."and this is how we say goodbye in Germany"
I love the austrIan way better.
Both so devilishly handsome! 😍
