Wonderful award acceptance speech by Sean Connery. The old expresssion is so true, "sadly we'll never see his likes again"! R.I.P. Sean Connery - THE best James Bond ever!
How true are your thoughts Big Tam -Sean I was born in 1965 and still ❤everything about the decade today. Sean Connery has been one of my few heroes for the last 50+ years. He has the humor, humility, wisdom, honesty and strength that I respect. --- Kenneth, North Texas
A great memorising speech from sir Connery this reminds me how he was very perfect for James bond role he never fake his personality in speeches or anything he says everything very charmly that he got all audiences attention and he always got it.a great personality the great sir Sean Connery
I hate to be the one to say this, but Connery passed away in 2020 (peacefully at home with the family by his side). Eastwood of course is still alive and actually still directing!
I can't help but cry on every single clip I see with Sean connery. He was si warm and profound, not only that he's personality was top notch. The world felt more safe and sane when he was in it. It's really hard to imagine someone that was so magical can die. It dosent add up. Is all of that, that was within Sean gone forever??? I can't get
That’s class act. That’s how a respected humble person suppose to be accepting an award. Can’t say the same thing about 2022 Chris rock, and will smith incident. RIP Sean Connery you will be missed. The greatest James Bond actor ever.
I miss being able to turn on the Academy Awards to see classy gorgeous attire and be taken away into a world of entertainment. Seeing gracious favorite actors/actresses in this setting and feeling so happy for them winning awards was something to look forward to and Sir Sean Connery was definitely one of the most eloquent. Those were really happier times. RIP, Sean, & thank you. 😊🦋🌺⚘😎
I think it would have to have been in a director actor relationship for it to have worked the best. Both always played leading tough guys in their best days so they may have clashed on screen together.
Just a true gentleman and one hell of an actor. I think Sean is correct, if your acting the emotions correctly, it should not matter which accent comes out of your mouth.
THE alpha male is gone... Leaves an amazing career behind and fans through the decades... Sir Sean Connery was for me at its best as William of Baskerville... RIP Sir Sean 👍🏾
I believe that Sean Connery's retirement from film acting in 2003 was precipitated by his disenchantment with the state of filmmaking, his negative experience during the production of The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which was a critical and commercial disappointment and his age. He obviously had a favorable experience making The Rock with Nicholas Cage and he enjoyed making Rising Sun with Michael Crichton. He also has expressed his fondness for Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford, with whom he made Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade; accordingly, when he was offered the opportunity to reprise his role as Indy's Father in the most recent film in 2008, one may assume that it wasn't attributable to them but rather his fondness for retirement.
He always has those great one-liners in his speech, simply awesome (and well entertaining) -- "I actually like the audience stirred and not shaken!" :-D
The world has lost the One of the Last and still very, very few of (t)his kind! The sad news today, on this Halloween day, and evening, was, in spite of being aware of Sean Connery's age, quite a shock to me, well, at least a bit so, but still, especially when taking into account his celebrity status and all that. Interestingly the first thing that came into my mind after seeing the news was some other news only a couple of weeks ago, related to Sean Connery's longtime home, a Belle Epoque villa in Southern France, near Nice, which was obviously on sale. Magnificent place indeed, according to photos! As was splendid Sean Connery's above speach in long gone year of 1996! Rest in peace, man!
It's great to see Nicolas Cage up there as one of the presenters of the Cecil B. Demille award to Sean Connery. Cage was one half of the presenters who had given him his Best Supporting Actor Oscar back in 1988 for his role as Jimmy Malone in "The Untouchables". Later, both Connery and Cage would co-star in "The Rock."
No. But he IS forever cool. Old Connery is cooler than Young Connery. Another example that men don't grow old, we grow distinguished. And few more distinguished than Sir Thomas Sean Connery, Scotland's Sexiest Export.

Two of cinema's greatest leading men, Sir Sean Connery and Cary Grant, never took themselves seriously as actors as exemplified by 007's quote here that he's forgotten several of his films and several he's "trying to forget". It amazes me that Sean Connery studiously avoids making virtually any reference to his involvement with the James Bond film series that essentially established his career and his stardom; he never expresses any appreciation to the Bond producers Broccoli and Saltzman-there must still be tremendous antagonism on his part for not compensating him adequately. Nevertheless, without Bond, he wouldn't have made Huston's The Man Who Would Be King, Lumet's The Hill, Hitchcock's Marnie, or many others.
@greg oscar Puppy yes if we put them on some kind of a scale of ultimate masculinity. But both are heavyweight movie starts, Tom Cruise probably being the most famous actor in the world.

Some of those male stars are in such awe, you can tell. Even Eastwood. Like a Gable, a Bogart, Connery will never be replaced.

Sean Connery is a legend. Then I see Clint Eastwood.. another huge legend. When these guys are gone, it'll be a huge loss.

I love that he loved Braveheart. No one else I’d rather watch it with
Because he fully understood the essense and message of the movie without worrying about details. I agree.
