Mike spoke truly from the heart, he wasn't just giving tribute to Sir Sean...he was talking to his dad as well. Pure class Mike, your old man would be so proud of you.
The tribute was genuine and heart--felt, Mike Myers mentioning of his father at the end really touched Sean Connery, you can tell Mike Myers was pretty emotional at the end also, twitching his fingers, he was holding back tears. If you watch Sean Connery's acceptance speech, on his way to the podium, he stopped by Mike Myers and said a few words to him, and patted him on his shoulders, that tells you how much Sean Connery appreciated what Mike said. Well done, Mike!!
Scots and Irish back in the day had weekend junkets. But they both agreed they hated the English..lol My Grandmother was from Glasgow but her last name was Connelly......there you go. Great Grandpa was chillin' with the Irish lass.....

Probably one of the best tributes to an actor I've ever seen. Mike nailed it with his honest personal delivery, and even during the humor and the poking-fun, one could tell it was done with love and GENUINE respect. Well done Mike Meyers, and for the rest of us, RIP SIR Sean Connery. Actors like him come along once in a generation. Glad I grew up when I did and got to see his work.
It’s such a clever, witty, not-in-your-face funny but genius and heartwarming tribute. I applaud you, Mike Myers. I saw this speech four years ago, and I get the same feels today.
That was a bloody dam good speech!! Sean had a tear in his eye at the very end .. being compared to someone’s father is a high accomplishment and he looked proud and sad that mikes father couldn’t have watched it with him …
No profanity just a great, positive tribute. My respect for Mike just sky rocketed because he nailed the generational link who this great actor has effected. Thank you both
This was such a classy tribute dedicated to a world class actor. And you can tell that Sean Connery had enjoyed every single minute of it. Thanks to Mike Myers for opening up one of the best AFI tributes ever. RIP Sir Sean Connery.
Mike is always a stickler for detail both with word of mouth and action by example. He is authentic. He even got the kilt colors right. Great job Mike......
Now that's a speech. And of course a hell of a tribute. Well done, Mike. The best part about this is the way Connery responds to him. Sure he's funny, but the jokes are appropriate and totally on point. R.I.P. Sir Sean Connery
this speech was amazing, the right amount of humor and professionalism. hearing mike talk about his dad and how he passed before he could see the austin power films almost brought me to tears. and as a huge austin powers fan myself, seeing how mike tied his dad and his success with a.p. to sean connery was done so effortlessly well.
Yeah, he was my dad's hero too and mine as a kid watching James Bond which my father introduced me to. Yes to a lot of us, Sean Connery's films especially James Bond, we remember our fathers.
I'm not really a fan of Mike Myers, but damn, this is one amazing, funny, touching, and entertaining tribute from him. Great work Mike! In his later years, my father looked very much like Sean Connery, so this hits home on a personal level just a little bit too. RIP, Sean (and my Father).
Sean Connery has always been one of my favorite actors and I have to say my favorite Bond of all time. Mike Myers did a great job on that introduction and the look on Sean Connery's face during the introduction and especially at the end tells it all.
I know Mike will never be considered a legend like Sean Connery, but I hope someday he is recognized for the significant influence he had on an entire generation of people. I mean think throughout the 90's and 2000's how many people quoted or referenced his movies, even if they were just goofy comedies. Austin Powers alone took the entire world by storm. For years you wouldn't have gone hardly a day without hearing someone reference it. Even to this day I still hear people say "I'll just Austin Powers it" and I know exactly what they mean even though it only refers to probably a 5 second clip out of the whole film. He was the modern day Peter Sellers.
Mike's writing for this tribute is stellar - I like how he actually mentions 'on any screen' before he gets to that part at the end... brilliant and clever as always!!!
Now that was great. I had no idea that Sean Connery ever had anything to do with the Mr. Universe contest. Very informative, humorous, and honorable. Thanks Mike.

Mike Myers, thank you!!! I put myself in Sean's shoes at that moment, and the tears kept dropping. You were used as an angel at that very moment, and I truly would have loved your dad to be alive to see you do this one very tribute to a legend. Emotional for me today and when I will be 97 by Gods grace.
What a beautiful tribute, funny, joking and then heartfelt reference to Mike's father--not a dry eye and even toughman Seans eyes getting shiny. THIS is how to do a tribute what a great job Mike Myers.

So touching, especially after Sean Connery’s passing. Seeing Sean cry while Mike echoed the sentiment of many who grew up with fathers who loved bond was very moving.
This was an incredible speech, from one amazing actor to another. Sir Connery actually teared up towards the end, and it shows that they are touched by such immense words.
Sir Connery is a living legend, a true master in acting! Salute to the legend as I cherish all the movies he has made. Love from India. Long live Sir Connery.
