For your points about gossip and quitting.... we did the little mermaid at my school. A very talented dedicated senior was a shoe in for Ariel. Especially don't spread rumors about yourself guys... If you get called out it's embarrassing and can definitely make you bitter about it. Especially don't let a Jr. version of a musical ruin a good friendship, it really hurts.

Only problem is, at my school the Drama Teacher doesn't really know what she's doing and no one in the class does either. There isn't a lot of teaching involved with is really sad. I feel like the arts are slowly dying. I am still in my drama club, but not in the class anymore. It was very frustrating. This year, I ended up taking Drama at this college and it's an amazing experience and then I also still do things at my community theater! Thank you for this video❤️❤️
Hi there! (It’s been 2 years since this comment so I am s o r r y) I’m in drama club at an online highschool...so I kinda have no idea how to act. Do I have to know to join a Theatre Program in college? Or can I just arrive as like, a super super beginner who has a strong voice and loves musicals?
Same!! In parents evening, my drama teacher said the complete opposite of me and everyone in my class never wants me to join their group and none of them give me anything to do in the drama performance we have to create, yet they all are very quick to point out that I'm not doing anything. Um, excuse me, but that's cuz I can't cuz none of them actually listen to any of my ideas!
The big issues we have with our drama teacher is that 1. She plays favorites baaadd 2. She doesn’t give the background characters that speak there script at all. We learn by looking at the main casts stuff. It’s hard to do your best when she doesn’t let you.
Gosh, the director for the play I was in was similar. When we were on hold during tech I literally heard her whisper to the assistant student director, “this is why I hate doing plays with mainly freshmen and sophomores, they don’t even know what they’re doing.” Luckily the ASD doesn’t suck and told the teacher director that she shouldn’t say that and that she’s the one who casted us.
our drama teacher has a quote on the wall that says "every minute of every day is an audition" and i feel like that is something really important for everyone to remember
My director's favorite statement is "you're always auditioning." This means that you could be the most talented person in the world, but if you dont take direction well, or you're always talking backstage, or you dont show up to rehearsals on time, you might not get cast again.
She is absolutely right, I tell my actors that ALL the time. I actually just had auditions and this girl we will call her Cathy, had a fantastic audition, but her behavior in prior productions knocked her out of a lead role.
I have a question for the Theatre Thursday Fam: Did/does your school have a theatre hierarchy?? (Seniors gets leads, juniors get principle role, etc.) If so, what's your opinion?
Mine used to but then switched it to freshmen and 6th grade first (sometimes). I think that it's good because it makes upperclassmen feel special and the underclassmen have something to look forward to. It changed when I was going into 8th so was a little salty cause 3 years for yet another ensemble role. I think that unless someone that perfectly fits the role, should be left to upperclassmen. I see the pros and cons
Alec Pearson At my school, only 1 freshman in the entire 100 years of the school has gotten a lead. I agree that the seniors should have their moment in the sun, but I feel like it's unfair to the underclassmen because even if they have an amazing audition that blows everyone out of the water, they still lose out to the seniors. (At least at my school)
It's kinda like that at my community theatre. All of the people who have been with the company for years, and are younger like 15-25, get leads and featured parts and most of the new people aren't really given a fair shot. At least in my opinion. At auditions the new people always get cut off and overshadowed a lot more than the people who have been in a billion shows. I'm a bit biased cuz I haven't been with the company as long because i move a lot, but I just feel like my theatre could be a bit more open and welcoming to new people. I understand working with the same people is great cuz you know them and all but it doesn't give others a fair shot, I mean we have to start somewhere. :/
my school's policy is that if there is a casting decision between 2 students, for example one senior and one sophomore, they will give it to the senior. but, my directors do not really give upperclassmen a leading edge other than that. i just think of it like it could be a senior's last performance ever, so as a cast you should give them a shot:)
Honestly, if you're talented, you're talented. Regardless of age. Someone who is fourteen could have the talent of a senior, or better. Or a senior may not be able to keep a pitch. It just is a level of talent.
One thing that I've learned throughout my high school theatre productions is that you shouldn't just quit because you didn't get a main role. In both my freshman (High School Musical) and sophomore (Beauty and the Beast) year people didn't show up for rehearsals or left due to previous commitments, so I ended up getting their roles! So, stick with it and you can still have a chance for a role!
@@malloryfallon6394 Wow... I can't believe it's been 3 years since I posted that comment! I ended up getting the role of Albert Peterson and had a great time performing the show. I'm still great friends with many people from that cast. :)
Mine doesn’t have theatre either and the closest to community we have doesn’t have acting and it isn’t actually an already made performance. I cry too.
I'm designing costumes for our main stage play, Our Town. It's so fun and I love doing it. It's honestly really fun to dress all my friends and because I know them. They are sweeties.
They just officially announced my season today !!!! Fall drama:Antigone( Greek play) small show:Grease (mostly to raise money) and BIG spring show:A chorus line (Honestly so excited)
Let lil live oh my gosh I'm jealous!! At my school we get to do one show a year (a musical) and it's put on by the varsity choir because we don't have drama classes or a club
Let lil live That's great! Our season just got announced too! It's so weird to be a senior. We are doing I Hate Hamlet, letting select seniors direct one act plays, The Boys Next Door and Guys and Dolls!
I'm doing my first musical auditions this December hoping to make it as Veronica Sawyer!!! It honestly feels like a shot in the dark for me sometimes, but your videos make me feel much more confident and reassured, thank you Katherine!
Katherine's videos have helped me grow my confidence as a performer so much. If you follow her advice (especially her auditioning advice), you'll be golden!! Break a leg and let us know how it goes!!!
THAT SOUNDS AWESOME sorry she's my dream role and i'm just SOOO happy for anyone who can play her or at least even get the chance to audition for her😂😂
Ok Ik this is an old video but, my audition for the school show was eh like not BAD but nothing amazing. I was given the role of a lioness (the lion king Jr) and was kind of upset I didn’t get a lead. I decided that the best thing I could do was show the directors/teachers/choreographer (all those people) that I can stand out and take a bigger role. I practiced choreography, focused on picking it up quickly, sang out (not obnoxiously) and worked my butt off. It did exactly what i was hoping. All the people running the show especially the choreographer in the director noticed how quickly I was picking up choreography and teaching others when they didn’t know it. I became the one and only dance captain (there wasn’t even supposed to be one) and got so many compliments from numerous people involved in the show. I was treated every rehearsal like an audition like you said and this video helped me a lot. I closed the show with a very good reputation, and thank u for that. ❤️😊
I definitely agree with the bonding thing, the people in my theatre group are some of the best people I know...they've definetely became some of lifelong friends of mine and they really make my high school theatre experience for me 😊💕
I may or may not have screamed "YAY" when I saw the notification that you uploaded this!! I'm in college but I'm sure there will still be some helpful tips! ☺️💕
I've been watching your videos for like a week now nonstop and I just audition today for my school play and I think I have a really good chance of getting a lead thank you
I just got casted in one of the lead roles in my school's Drama Club, so this video was super helpful! For those who are wondering, I am playing Jane Gideon in the play Popularity.
This is so perfectly timed because my school's musical jut got announced today and I'm gonna audition!! Congrats on 21,000 subscribers by the way!! I love your channel it's so amazing and you deserve every subscriber you get. I've been here since around 2,000 I think and I've been waiting for this day and many days to come!! 😝❤️
I literally screamed when you posted this! I just started my first year of high school last month, and I really needed this! I love you and theatre Thursday so much ❤💕
I have auditions for my final high school musical (I've a senior who's been doing theatre since 7th grade, and we're doing Legally Blonde!) next week, so this video was VERY MUCH SO needed. Thank you Kat!
I start Freshman Year on Monday. It’s always been my dream to be a part of the Drama Club. This really helped me understand what I’m getting into and hopefully it helps me land a small role during my first year. Thank you!
this is awesome advice! i'm still currently in high school and living my best high school theatre nerd heading to music theatre college life. i can say that bringing a headshot and resume would probably not be the best idea. you'll seem uptight and people might think you think you're better than them. that's just from experience in the theatre. i always enjoy your videos much love ❤️
I’m playing a wife & chorus in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which is my first ever musical and I’m so excited!! I’m having a lot of fun and making a bunch of new friends (it’s between 4 local schools which is cool!)
I felt that part about middle school. I went to a really small private school with kids I've known all my life, and this is my first year of public high school. I'm making friends more easily this year than I ever did at that school, and it definitely helps that theres actually other theater kids at this school
Hi Katherine! Thank you for this video, I'm a sophomore and have pretty bad social anxiety, these tips made me feel a lot more secure 💞 Unfortunately I auditioned for my school play this year and didn't get a role, do you have any tips on how to get over that? I feel kind of silly getting upset because of it, but I've felt like giving up entirely at some points.
We did hairspray a couple years back. A fantastic year 11 (exemplary in every subject, performing arts included) really really wanted to play Tracy. It was her dream role and she wasn't going to pursue the arts after this. Her last year, her last role, and she got ensemble. With a bunch of year eights and nines, some of which had never danced before. She was very upset (understandably) but stayed in the show, still giving her all, still being lovely to everyone. When the year SEVEN (youngest year group) who had been cast as seaweed turned out to be pompous and unreliable (full on stopped showing up to rehearsals) the year 11 I talked about earlier got his role. Many who saw it said she was the best in the show.
Also I find it so beautiful that you take the time to answer people's questions in the comments. I like to read them because most of the time the advice you give also applies to me and can help me so much.
ive been going on a hunt through all your old videos to find every one that might help me... i have a dance audition tomorrow and the proper audition the day after and your videos have been saving my life haha ❤️❤️
My theatre department in high school is truly the best thing that has happened to me. Right now I'm a junior and have had protrayed the roles of an ensemble character in the Pajama Game (9th), Addaperle in the Wiz (10th) and this year I was blessed with my dream role Audrey in Little Shop. I met my best friends during this production and we are right now in the starting of our tech week. I take theatre so seriously, it's truly the biggest blessing in my life and what I want to do for the rest of my life. This advice is really what some people in my show need and I am so lucky I do take my shows so seriously. You never know who could be watching 💞🎭
Thank you so much for this! I'm doing theater at my school for the first time and I've been really stressed about how I will handle it all but this was really helpful!
I had my audition for my school play (The Dining Room by AR Gurney) today. It's my first high school show. I used your advice to pick a monologue and I got a callback! Thank you!!!
I have a tip for when you have a gossip or have tea with someone! Get a designated notebook and when you get home (or heck, maybe even bring it to rehearsal; just don't let anyone see ;)) and write down the gossip or tea so you don't snap at the person because everyone is stressed! You don't wanna be that person or give yourself a bad name! And trust me, this works! For instance, when I was younger I had a friend (let's call her Sally) and she got a role that I wanted. During tech week, I snapped. It was both from stress and my cat had just passed away suddenly. Anyway, I snapped right in front of the director and that gave me a bad name. It was even worse because that was my first sho out of six. So I had a bad rep for all six shows. And Sally and I don't speak anymore if anyone was wondering. Okay bye, y'all!
I love You Katherine!!! I wish i could meet you, you really help me alot in acting as a high school drama kid! I love your videos and you mean Sooo much to me! Thank you for putting out amazing videos, you make me believe I actually have a chance in musical theatre! Ive never been more grateful!
This video was perfect timing!! I have my first role in a show for my fall play at my school and rehearsals start monday!! Im so excited and your videos are always super helpful and just fun haha 😊 love you!
I literally start school tomorrow so this was the perfect time for you to post this! I actually am going to a new high school but i had already toured the school and meet my theater teacher aka the DIRECTOR!!! She was so nice and when I told her I do theater she was so happy to have someone new, so hopefully this year goes well and this video was super helpful!!!
I love my high school’s performing arts department. In middle school I only got ensemble roles which made me believe I wasn’t good enough for anything else, but the high school director saw potential in me and cast me as a supporting lead in both the fall play and spring musical last year. This year, he cast me as the princess in our fall play, and it’s the first time I have a role with a romance plot and I’m so excited! And don’t get me STARTED on our Choir teacher because dear god I would die for that woman because I love her so much. And everyone is just really nice and I love everyone so much.
Hi Kat!! I dont know if you'll see this but I've been watching you for a while now and this year was my first show. I got a lead role but it got postponed cause of technical issues. Then canceled because the school hadn't done anything about it and well now were not in school because of this whole pandemic. I'm going straight into high school after this and I'm truly scared. I was going through a lot of your older videos (that's a lie I've been binging your whole channel) and it really has made me feel better. This one in particular made me a little less scared and really is helpful thank you. On the off chance that you do see this I love you and your videos so much. Thank you for showing me through the wonderful world of musical theatre. I hope you have an amazing day and your staying safe. 💕💕💕
Ok so I’m a freshman in high school and recently did our first school play for the fall. Auditions were super fun and different because it was pretty much everyone auditioning at once and we did a lot of improv games and stuff. I got into ensemble which I was ok with and it was still super fun! Looking forward to auditions for the next play after winter break! 🤩
I live for your videos and all your advice. I want to hank you so much for sharing your wisdom with us. I am currently a high schooler and Broadway is my passion and I believe that it is my path. All these tips that you give us really help me so much and make my dreams feel more tangible. I still have sooooo much to improve on (like my dancing😳) and at times I'm very uneasy because I feel like I can't make it to doing what I'm most passionate about. But I want to thank you, because you may not realize it, but you really do help each and every one of us. Much love! ❤️❤️
Tip: If your high school theater holds student set builds, GO. They can be in the same vein as cast hang-outs--there's usually a lot to do, and depending on the production can be a wide variety of jobs to get done. Even if you aren't the most handy with tools there will likely be painting, cleaning, prop construction, etc. And it's a great opportunity to learn if you do want to do the construction part. Not only will doing set builds gain you a reputation of being involved, it's a fantastic opportunity to bond with the cast (and crew as well). My first high school show I kinda skipped all but one set build, and had a good time with the show but still wasn't super close with the cast. But my second show I've done as many as I possibly can and I've already been making more friends and talking to more people. Just go to things--it's hard, but worth it.
My school just got theaters back and I’m so excited I’ve always wanted to take it and I hope I’m not disappointed bc you never know with my school but nonetheless I’m excited
I just had an audition for the crucible today at my high school, and I got a callback! You can bet I'll be coming to your Theatre Thursday vids for advice...💜
YAY!! Great advice! Today was my 3rd day of rehearsal for my high schools show! I'm only a freshman but I still made it into the ensemble!! Most people who auditioned did not make it in so I'm really proud of my self! Our theatre company is really good, and I'm not just saying this, we've had professionals come to some of the shows here before and tell our director how good it was! The show is the wedding singer and I'm having a BLAST! Everyone is so nice and there no divide between leads and ensemble like there was at my middle school! Also I get to help with crew for the first time too! I'm doing costumes and its AWSOME!! Sorry for the long comment, I'm just REALLY EXITED AND HAPPY ABOUT BEING IN THIS SHOW!! Have a great day! Can't wait until next Thuresday!!
this video was really helpful, thank you! I’m a senior this year and it’s my first year ever doing theatre. I decided to do early enrollment for college as well, so I’m never on school campus, I’m at my college classes. I’ve never really liked the majority of the people in my class or at my high school, that’s why I took early enrollment, to be away from those people, but I’ve met a lot of amazing people and good friends in my school’s theatre department on rehearsal days after school and that’s what is making my senior year super good so far! so again, thank you so much for such an informative video 💙
I am going into hs this year, and I'm really sad that STUPID COVID will probably keep us from having theatre club! We wont even get to actually be at school, which is extremely scary for a soon to be freshman. I really wish he was ACTUALLY like hsm tho
i haven't been in many theater clubs mainly because i'm not old enough but i was in this on acting camp where we wrote a play where we brought Shakespeare characters into modern life but then in non stage hours the guy playing Romeo started sending love letters to the girl playing Juliet and then the girl told the counselors and then they made an anouncement that we are only the characters onstage in a different world we are only playing them not being them
We do a show every two years at my school, and next year is going to be my first show! I'm on the chorus, since I've never done such a large-scale show before, but still, we've got a three day rehearsal schedule starting tomorrow, I'm so excited!!
Hey Katherine! (You probably won't see this because I'm super later today but anyway!) I'm watching this after rehearsal for my High School Musical! I'm playing Minnie Fay in Hello Dolly and the girl playing Irene looks JUST LIKE you! And you are both so so lovely! Thanks so much for this video!!
My high school musical cast list came out today! (The musical is Legally Blonde and I'm either Serena, Margot, or Pilar I haven't been told which one yet haha so excited!!)
I’m going into high school and i made the decision to not take high school theatre, but assist in middle school theatre (my school is k-12). I did this because i am a part of a training program outside of school that i know is a lot more advanced and will teach me a lot more than my school theatre. Still, although i love to perform, ive always wanted to be a teacher or a director, and assisting in theater class seems like a great thing for me to do to try out both of those things. I agree with everything you said in this video and i love your channel! ❤️
I’m a theatre kid. I’m 14 almost 15 and I’ve been doing theatre since I was 10. I started in elementary school. Damn high school theatre is so much different than elementary and middle. These tips also helped A LOT I’m a freshman but it’s summer rn so when I get back to school I’m gonna be a sophomore. Thanks!
How’d it go? My school is doing Mary Poppins this year. I am a penguin, customer, and kite flyer! I auditioned for Mary but didn’t get it. Just glad I got in at all. They cut 20 kids.
I am auditioning for my school play this Wednesday and I am a freshman so I'm pretty nervous. We are doing "you can't take it with you" that is a play not a musical and I am nervous cause one of the monologue characters speaks with a Russian accent and I guess I'm ok with it but I've been practicing non stop. This play also has only 18 parts in it so it will be different to the Jr. musicals I did in middle school where we had like 70 something parts. I am really excited and getting into high school theatre is something I was looking forward to since like 1st grade. We have a thing called the "Freddy's where all our local theatre groups basically has a mini Tony awards. I am so excited for it and I will be sure to tell you guys how it goes on the next #TheatreThursday. Btw love your videos Katherine❤️ so helpful.

Who else remembers Ned's Declassified?

One thing that I've learned throughout my high school theatre productions is that you shouldn't just quit because you didn't get a main role. In both my freshman (High School Musical) and sophomore (Beauty and the Beast) year people didn't show up for rehearsals or left due to previous commitments, so I ended up getting their roles! So, stick with it and you can still have a chance for a role!
Any other theater boys out there?! So glad I found this awesome channel! I am currently in high school and am doing Bye Bye Birdie.
Jordan that’s great! You don’t see boys in theatre that often!
Hello fellow theater boys! That's true, which makes it hard to cast because there are so many male roles😅
Awesome!!!! Ik I’m late but.... BREAK A LEG!!! Also, did u get the part u wanted? How was it??
@@malloryfallon6394 Wow... I can't believe it's been 3 years since I posted that comment! I ended up getting the role of Albert Peterson and had a great time performing the show. I'm still great friends with many people from that cast. :)
I’m a fellow theatre boy! This years my freshman year and in the fall I’m going to be auditioning for Peter and the Star Catcher. I’m so excited
Last time I was this early Great Comet was still on broadway. (Too soon? Too soon)
Katie Carleton Way too soon
😭😭the world wasn't ready for great comet
TO SOOOOOOOOON
NONONONONONO
WAY TOO SOON
why am I watching this my school doesn't have a theatre department and I cry lol
I'm so sorry! :( There's always community!
Mine doesn’t have theatre either and the closest to community we have doesn’t have acting and it isn’t actually an already made performance. I cry too.
"No, not that kind of high school musical. Your high school musical"
My high school musical this year is High School Musical. PLOT TWIST!
I'm designing costumes for our main stage play, Our Town. It's so fun and I love doing it. It's honestly really fun to dress all my friends and because I know them. They are sweeties.
Carlie Mae I LOVE Our Town!!! I have used Emily's monologue so many times
Lily Blake It's my new go-to for monologues.
Carlie Mae I'm doing costumes for Our Town rn too, as well as being Stage Manager! Can't wait, it's a great show!
Im costume designing too! But for Dearly Beloved
Benjamin Wambeke It's cool to find some other costume designers.
They just officially announced my season today !!!! Fall drama:Antigone( Greek play) small show:Grease (mostly to raise money) and BIG spring show:A chorus line (Honestly so excited)
Let lil live LIT LIT LIT!!!! All 3 amazing shows
Let lil live oh my gosh I'm jealous!! At my school we get to do one show a year (a musical) and it's put on by the varsity choir because we don't have drama classes or a club
Madeline Daunt Aww that's sucks 😔but do you know what y'all are doing this year???
Let lil live That's great! Our season just got announced too! It's so weird to be a senior. We are doing I Hate Hamlet, letting select seniors direct one act plays, The Boys Next Door and Guys and Dolls!
Hannah Fuller cool 😎
I'm doing my first musical auditions this December hoping to make it as Veronica Sawyer!!! It honestly feels like a shot in the dark for me sometimes, but your videos make me feel much more confident and reassured, thank you Katherine!
Katherine's videos have helped me grow my confidence as a performer so much. If you follow her advice (especially her auditioning advice), you'll be golden!!
Break a leg and let us know how it goes!!!
THAT SOUNDS AWESOME sorry she's my dream role and i'm just SOOO happy for anyone who can play her or at least even get the chance to audition for her😂😂
Azrael Post My high school is having a production of Heathers in one week. I'm playing JD because there are no boys in drama.
Angelica Schuyler That's so cool! Break a leg!!
MiMi Star Thanks!😁
is it just me or does she remind me of Kara lindsay
Sammy Herschy AAAAH thank you!! ❤
Sammy Herschy I said that in a video before it kind of scares me how similar they look and act
Sammy Herschy yEEESSS SHE DOEEES I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE
YES! At least i know it's not just because she's called Katherine and that's like, one of Kara's most popular roles but still XD
I knew she reminded me of someone but I just realized that’s who it was lmao😂
"Don't date within the department" wish I had heard that last year/the year before TT
I definitely agree with the bonding thing, the people in my theatre group are some of the best people I know...they've definetely became some of lifelong friends of mine and they really make my high school theatre experience for me 😊💕
I just auditioned for my first highschool show Guys and Dolls! I'm so happy I was cast, this video was perfect timing. Thank you!! :-)
+blandhomosapien congrats!! 💖
That was my first high school show too! Very pretty songs and lots of fun to perform!
I may or may not have screamed "YAY" when I saw the notification that you uploaded this!! I'm in college but I'm sure there will still be some helpful tips! ☺️💕
+Shannon Leigh yes!! Totally applicable!! 💝🙌🏻 enjoy! 😘
I've been watching your videos for like a week now nonstop and I just audition today for my school play and I think I have a really good chance of getting a lead thank you
I played Gabriella from High School Musical on stage, it was my first role and I have never been so terrified
I played Ms. Darbus, I loved it!
Wismeiry Rich it's such a fun musical!
What are you doing????!!!
I literally screamed when you posted this! I just started my first year of high school last month, and I really needed this! I love you and theatre Thursday so much ❤💕
I'm so grateful that we have such an amazing theater teacher. She's so talented and our shows are always the best
I have auditions for my final high school musical (I've a senior who's been doing theatre since 7th grade, and we're doing Legally Blonde!) next week, so this video was VERY MUCH SO needed. Thank you Kat!
rebecca elizabeth happy to help, break a leg!! 🦄💕
I start Freshman Year on Monday. It’s always been my dream to be a part of the Drama Club. This really helped me understand what I’m getting into and hopefully it helps me land a small role during my first year. Thank you!
aaaah i just got back from callbacks to find this in my recommended I'm BLESSED
+Isabella Nicole OOOH exciting!!
this is awesome advice! i'm still currently in high school and living my best high school theatre nerd heading to music theatre college life. i can say that bringing a headshot and resume would probably not be the best idea. you'll seem uptight and people might think you think you're better than them. that's just from experience in the theatre. i always enjoy your videos much love ❤️
I’m playing a wife & chorus in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which is my first ever musical and I’m so excited!! I’m having a lot of fun and making a bunch of new friends (it’s between 4 local schools which is cool!)
I loved Joseph! My school didn't have enough boys in drama club so I played the brother Benjamin in 8th grade 😂
I felt that part about middle school. I went to a really small private school with kids I've known all my life, and this is my first year of public high school. I'm making friends more easily this year than I ever did at that school, and it definitely helps that theres actually other theater kids at this school
Hi Katherine! Thank you for this video, I'm a sophomore and have pretty bad social anxiety, these tips made me feel a lot more secure 💞
Unfortunately I auditioned for my school play this year and didn't get a role, do you have any tips on how to get over that? I feel kind of silly getting upset because of it, but I've felt like giving up entirely at some points.
+Harukawa not silly at all love! 💕 Totally get you: ua-cam.com/video/wkc6YZPQXjE/v-deo.html
When it said "sophomore" I read soprano 😂
Your advice about following the rules for an up on casting is the truest thing I’ve ever heard
My high school did Hairspray in the fall (WHICH IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MUSICAL) and I was in the chorus! I had such a fun time!
I’ve never been so excited to see a video ! Thank you so much from a current high school theatre kid
I live for Katherine's videos!!!
+Laurel Morgan ❤❤❤
So do I honestly.
I just yelled Theatre Thursday and I think I scared my dog. So yeah you could say I'm pumped
+Victoria naas😂🙌🏻😂 #TheatreThursdayFam 🎉💕🎭
During the end when you talked about other kids not even know what broadway 🎭 was is like my situation right now! Thanks for being so relatable.
Katherine E.
ahhh!! Good luck, I hope you get the part!! :D
What am I doing here? I play in the pit not on the stage. Guess i love Katherine that much❤️❤️
I have a tip for when you have a gossip or have tea with someone!
This year, I'm directing my school's production of Jekyll and Hyde. I expect professionalism from all of the cast members.
Kath is the theater mom of the internet these videos are so helpful
My first audition was today for "A Wrinkle in Time", your advice helped so much💞
Acting has been and still is my life long dream and goal and i have been finding you videos really helpfull and thank you.
I just found your channel and hour or 2 ago and I'm already OBSESSED like yass I love you and your channel sm already
I’ve been binging your videos all day they’re so good!
YES KAT COMING THROUGH WITH THE BACK TO SCHOOL VIDEOS 🙏
I live for your videos and all your advice. I want to hank you so much for sharing your wisdom with us. I am currently a high schooler and Broadway is my passion and I believe that it is my path. All these tips that you give us really help me so much and make my dreams feel more tangible. I still have sooooo much to improve on (like my dancing😳) and at times I'm very uneasy because I feel like I can't make it to doing what I'm most passionate about. But I want to thank you, because you may not realize it, but you really do help each and every one of us. Much love! ❤️❤️
I'm auditioning for Rose in Bye Bye Birdie on Wednesday and your videos are SAVING my life rn! Ty so much!!!
+Black Cat break a leg!! 💕
My school doesn't really have a theatre department and so I'm not really sure what to do. Yay!
+Micah D-S get training & experience outside of school!
Ugh I relate we had a drama class for a week
You are saving my life one Thursday at a time 😊😊😊
i just got cast as the prince in cinderella and I’m super excited because it’s my first lead!
Thanks this really helped! This is my first year doing musical theatre and I’m super excited. I’m playing Lucy in our production of Sweeny Todd! 💙
There's just one problem...
I can't even get into the show ;-;
I just had an audition for the crucible today at my high school, and I got a callback! You can bet I'll be coming to your Theatre Thursday vids for advice...💜
Perfect timing! I'm auditioning next week and I'm so nervous!
I got casted as Mae Peterson in bye bye birdie and I’m so exited I love playing the antagonist
I cannot express how much I needed this video
+FlyingPig 5879 happy to help!! 💕
you’re so sweet and inspiring katherine!! thank you for this video!! 💕🎭
I have to study for a music class in the morning but KATHERINE POSTED SO WHO CARES... Love you so much ❤
+Marla The Big Tourist 😂💕
this video was really helpful, thank you!
((also your voice reminds me of kate monster from avenue q and I feel like you could really do her role well))
I am going into hs this year, and I'm really sad that STUPID COVID will probably keep us from having theatre club! We wont even get to actually be at school, which is extremely scary for a soon to be freshman. I really wish he was ACTUALLY like hsm tho
I do understand you! I was having one of my biggest school productions but then covid-19 came about, and it got cancelled. Good, luck!
Hang in there! You will take the stage!
I'm so excited for my spring musical this year we are doing Cinderella!!
i haven't been in many theater clubs mainly because i'm not old enough but i was in this on acting camp where we wrote a play where we brought Shakespeare characters into modern life but then in non stage hours the guy playing Romeo started sending love letters to the girl playing Juliet and then the girl told the counselors and then they made an anouncement that we are only the characters onstage in a different world we are only playing them not being them
We do a show every two years at my school, and next year is going to be my first show!
This is my freshman year and I want to be in my school's musical this year. They're doing School of Rock. I'm hype.
Great tips to use in my high school production of Brigadoon :)
Thanks!
We're doing Legally Blonde this year! Auditions are on Monday, super excited!!
+Lia DP break a leg!
Thank you so much!! I'll let you know how it goes!
How’d it go? My school is doing Mary Poppins this year. I am a penguin, customer, and kite flyer! I auditioned for Mary but didn’t get it. Just glad I got in at all. They cut 20 kids.
Omg I'm doing high school musical in school theatre ahahah
Tori Elizabeth I DID IT AND PLAYED RYAN YOU WILL HATE IT WHEN ITS OVER TRUST ME
Tori Elizabeth it is so cringe
I just started doing theatre in high school since I'm a Freshman and this video really helped me. Thank you so much for doing what you do!!!
how’s it been
Thank God this is what I need before school 💖💖💞💖💖
Our school's mascot is the wildcat so high school musical is a must
I am auditioning for my school play this Wednesday and I am a freshman so I'm pretty nervous.
Haha! My first high school show was You Can't Take It With You during my freshmen year too! Break a leg 💕💫
Omg thank you😁
Juliana Cuevas my audition is tomorrow call backs are thursday hopefully they will go well.
So um, I might audition for our school's drama club next year and these things would really help a lot
