the song choice tip really helped me thank you, please film more videos like how drama schools mark because that would be so helpful! I’ve got my first audition before the end of the year and your videos are helping SO MUCH
i rarely comment on videos but i really find your advice helpful as an international student, i would love to see more content like this since it really does help
4:53 oml yes this is so important! For my drama school audition (in high school) I sung Pulled from the Addams Family Musical, which tends to be quite overdone among younger teens. That song was always just MY song though. There’s no way I could have sung any song as good as that one at the time, and I just had it nailed down. So even though about 50 of my friends sang the same song, I got in just because I knew that was the song I could perform the best. Great tip!
Great video! I've been preparing my monologues for 4 months pretty intensely and am wondering whether to start auditioning now. Do you think that sounds like long enough? XX
Would anybody be able to help me with a query… I’ve got a year before I need to start applying to higher education but I’m starting to think about what I might want to do. I’d love to go to drama school but I’m doubting whether I’d get in or not. I’ve had acting training and I used to dance intensely but haven’t for a few years due to injury (I can now because I’ve had treatment). My doubts come from the fact that I haven’t had any singing lessons due to my financial situation. I do however sing in choirs and have been told I’m okay I just need a few pointers. I’m aware that musical theatre courses require singing but I’m struggling to find out to what extent they do. To summarise, I’m debating the likely hood of getting onto a musical theatre course vs an acting one while also wanting to get into a good school due to the fact I’m a high achieve and get top grades.
Does anyone have any advice for alternatives if you can't afford drama school? I've been looking at conservatoires (especially Leeds) which allow student loans but I'm not sure how they fit in with drama schools and normal larger universities
A conservatoire and drama school are pretty much the same! They are both much more practically base than a uni- so in a drama school you’ll be doing dance, act and voice classes every day (plus extra things that different schools offer) and in a uni you’d be studying more theory based stuff. It just depends what you’d like to do. You can get a student loan for drama schools just like Uni if they are not private- some examples of private ones are mountview and artsed- which are more expensive and a loan doesn’t cover it all (but there are scholarships) You also don’t have to go to drama school to make it in the industry! A lot of people do, but a lot don’t. You could just spend your time going to workshops and classes instead. There is no guaranteed route into acting, but as long as you are determined and feel you are open to new opportunities and can learn then it’s okay :) hope that helped!! ❤️
There are some conservatoires that the tution is covered by student loans, this is usually if the course is a 3 year BA course. Most of them will have some sort of financial support that they give to some students like scholarships and bursaries. I hope that helps 😊
@@ceciliayoung1719 thank you that's really helpful. Do you happen to know how to find out which drama schools would accept student loans? Thank you so much

Thank you for this calm and nuanced take. Do you happen to know anything about age cutoffs? Do they consider you too old at some point?
