Rambutan and durian are the Malay words. Rambut means hair, rambutan, means many hair. Duri means thorn, durian means many thorns.

The best part of my visit to Cambodia is trying out the many different fruit. Please make sure you eat them the correct way. They taste so much better than what I can get in the U.S. That said, I'm so looking forward to moving to Cambodia. Debating between Siem Reap and Kampot.

Some interesting fruits here for sure! It’s good to try something different 😊
We’ll be heading to Kampot soon, can’t wait!
Apparently its like Siem Reap but with a beach 🙌🏽

@@franclyspeaking Kampot reminds me of Newport Beach but smaller. While I was there, I made my way to Kep as well for some fresh seafood. The seafood experience was not all that great for me but I think it was just my luck.

The better way we eat mangosteen is to use the knives to go around only the skin exactly at the mid section of it and then use our finger to squish and try to separate the skin out, you guys can try that. It works very well for me.

Many of the fruits are available in South East Asia. Many fruits are seasonal like rambutan and mangosteen. Rambutan comes in red and yellow colour, yellow ones tend to be sweeter but less fleshy. Mangosteen, if you notice the skin is reddish, and i was told it will stain your clothes if you are not careful.
Snakefruit (or buah salak as called in Msia or Indonesia) is kinda funky tasting. Not a big fan.
Some other fruits you can try are soursop, langsat, duku (very similar to langsat), cempedak (very similar to jackfruit), guava, jambu air (guava is known as jambu batu, this one is rose apple, seasonal fruit, and do not eat the bottom part and the ‘fluffy’ bits)… and so much more

Very true. Our friend forgot to clean his hand after eating mangosteen and had a stained hand for a day haha
Yea, snake fruit, looks cool but tastes pretty average.
We will keep an eye out for those other fruits in our travels and see if we can find our favourite!

You guys made a good meal of those fruits.
I've tried 90% of those fruits, but for me Mango is my number one.Did you guys know that Durian is the king of fruits in Thailand and Mangosteen is the queen of fruits in Thailand.
I also like to try fruit and then make my mind up from the yes yes and the no no ones.

Durian is the king of fruits and the price reflects it!
Have you had snake fruit before? I was surprised at the lack of flavour some of them have.
Mangos are always a winner with us!

The best way to open mangosteen is to put mangosteen in your palm and use another of your hand to lock it, then squeeze the mangosteen. Also, if you're using knife just cut around of the mangosteen side way. (don't cut too deep).
I know people can open as they like to open but I just want to let people that want to know the easy way and clean.

Love the fruit in SE Asia - my favourite of those is the Mangosteen (or as we say here Mancout) - We have a good variety of tropical fruit in the garden and it's so nice to ear super fresh fruit

For sure. I think it’s good to start with a shake and go from there. We started with below average thai street stall durian and hated it. But the farm tour made us appreciate and enjoy it a lot more!

This is great! One excellent place for fruit is Phsar Samaki which is on the N side of Rd 6, about halfway between the river and Phsar Leu. There's a ton of different fruits right out front. I'm digging your channel!

It’s a bit worrying trying something new for dinner, but fruit as a snack is all good, you just get so much and if you don’t like it it’s a bit of a hassle. But you can always give it away and people will take it which is nice 😊

In Canada we import jackfruit from Mexico and it's shit. In Cambodia, jackfruit is fucking delicious.
