We are not out of the closet yet. stil far from it. l the medical community has little information on how to treat it especially with hrt, most doctors get about 1 hour of training for menopause, people in general see it as taboo or for older women who health and beauty let alone fertility and sensuality is going out the window. Main stream media hardly has anything to say about it. Even young femele doctors have little information and may not know how to best help women going through menopause as the younger females are, the less they see they have in common with older women.

My mom is in a memory care unit now and she has osteoporosis ... it makes me incredibly sad ... and I think the medical community let her and women down b/c of that women study in the 90s. She most likely would have been on hormones or may be not ... however, I dont want to end up like my mother so I'm reading all I can and do all I can to live healthier. I’m sorry to hear about your intense hot flashes, brain fog, less energy, recovery, etc. Sounds rough. :/ From the video, it sounds like you encourage women to consider HRT. Are you considering it for yourself? You are an inspiration being so fit, and you have gorgeous hair! Difficult to sleep well, focus or have time for good self care. Yes we have to make our health priority, make ourselves priority. We are long lived without cancer or fragility, but that’s not without any health issues. My only issue is a destroyed right knee that the orthopedic surgeons don’t seem to think is a priority to fix for me. I have bone on bone all three knee compartments, two torn menisci, edema of the tibia and femur, chronic tendinitis, 4 ossified floaters in the joint and the largest bone spurs they’ve ever seen. All I got was a steroid injection that’s only made my knee worse. They look at me as a middle age SAHM and think why bother. I have three children and I need to keep up with them. How come that’s not seen as worthwhile? I’m feeling invalidated as a person who needs actual medical care and all these ortho surgeons see is middle age mom. I’m taking care of my elderly mother and today I took her shopping to get her out of the house. My knee was in agony pushing her around the stores. I don’t show that because I don’t want her to feel bad.

Doc, I'm 48, perimenopausal, on bioidentical hormones of estrogen and testosterone. I'm doing very well on it. I recently went in for an op to remove a cyst, and they found I have stage 3 endometriosis. I was told to be careful of estrogen but when I stopped it, my moods plummeted and I became severely depressed. I have the mirena in now to help with the excessive bleeding. My gynie feels that if I think the benefits of the bioidentical hormones outweigh the risk for me, I should continue. I have now started again, but don't know if this is a good or bad idea. Luckily no kids for me, I'm heading fullsteam to menaupase, but please can you address this issue. I believe that a large number of women suffer from endometriosis and don't even know it, especially if the periods are heavy. How do we balance this out with the need for estrogen.

I had endometriosis. They didn't treat perimenopause when I was 37. I am in menopause now & take HRT for symptoms but reduced my intake to every other day so as not to stimulate the tissue. It's not as effective as the daily dose but this has helped mitigate the symptoms for me - maybe this would help for peri-men?

On the contrary, women in my family apparently have good genes. My grandmother passed away of COVID-19 at 93, my mom is 72 and doing well, but I seem to be the worst of them, as before my 40th birthday I found out I have many health issues. I have been eating almost healthy home made food for several years and I sleep a lot, bever somoked or drank alcohol, however my health is deteriorating. Stress and past trauma are the main causes I think but also starting peri/menopause early is another cause. HRT is not an option where I live so I have to focus on nutrition, exercise and natural therapies.

What is the first thing I need to do to get through this menopause? I take something over the counter and works about 30% of the time. Not enough for me. I know you’re talking about the aging process here and yes, I just turned 55! I can’t even believe that’s coming out of my mouth. It’s making me think so much more about aging and what that’s going to look like. Scared to death! We don’t really have cancer in over family all that much. It’s more of problems with the heart and digestive issues. Last but not least dementia! Not really sure where to start with that, any of it. Do I go to my doctor? Gynecologist? Nutritionist? I’m just confused but also scared to start acknowledging the fact that it’s time! I also take vitamins and try to follow what you talk about on your channel. The whole thing just gets overwhelming. I thought that I was through with all of that but it is back with a vengeance. I am 56 years old. Last night I did some cardio and my heart rate was up. It took a long time to come down. I read that happens in menopause and that it causes anxiety which I am also having again. My gyno oncologist appointment is next month and I am afraid that my hpv will turn into cancer. I'm 81 and the problem I'm having is the doctor's act like well you've lived your life let's don't do anything now. But I don't have a lot of serious problems that would be killing but I do have a whole bunch that makes you uncomfortable

For my mother at the age of 72, is it worth giving her hormone therapy?

That is a conversation to have with a menopause educated doctor to weigh her individual health benefits to risks. It shouldn't be an automatic no and vaginal estradiol is safe to take at any age.

My wonder if it's feasible to give an older woman hormones (my mom in her 80's), to give her better health.

I have a history of a superficial thrombus. Is this a contraindication to taking estrogen?

    • @maryclairehavermd8473

Transdermal estradiol patches do not increase the risk of blood clots because they are not processed in the liver.

Can overweight people, or those with T2D (well controlled with diet) possibly have hormone therapy?

Transdermal estradiol and oral micronized progesterone are very safe and not contraindicated based on weight or diabetes.

Again. I missed out on hrt because of blood clots and breast cancer. Are there still benefits to taking Estrogen at 64?

There are many people on YT talking about HRT. I’d get several opinions. From what I’ve heard, I think you’d be okay. Don’t take oral estrogen due to clot/stroke risk. 🔍 HRT cancer.

But you can't stay on HRT indefinitely. It isn't safe.

Lots of doctors on YT disagree with that. ❤️

    • @iot577
      @iot577 Місяць тому

@PeaceIsYeshua and lots of doctors would agree with that. I have friends who have had breast cancer who have been advised by their consultants to avoid HRT. I know many women who are now postmenopausal and who never took HRT. Finally, it should never be taken indefinitely. Women have to stop taking it at some point.

I recommend listening to OBGYNs on UA-cam who are speaking out, like this one, for example-she gives a lot of evidence. Karen Martel, Menopause Taylor, there are so many.
And 🔍 HRT cancer and you’ll find more evidence! There’s even a short video of a lady who had breast cancer and got back on HRT. I hope this helps. :)
