Yes! I weighed between 116 and 120 with a flat tummy and lots of energy for YEARS. I turned 50, and within a couple of years, Im 150 pounds with a jiggly belly, nothing fits, i have no energy, and everything hurts. My diet hasnt changed. I have been telling my family that it's hard navigating the world in a body that doesn't feel like mine. Thank you for the validation!
My dad ALWAYS ALWAYS said this from like the past 50 years that subcutaneous fat is not the real enemy but the fat that you can’t see and is around the organs. Thank you so much for saying that aloud.
Yes I just learned about her on Mel Robbins she shared and haven't stopped watching her videos and also saw Halle Berry come on the news regarding menopause how the insurance doesn't support us we need to stand up for this
I'm 45 years old going through peri menapause living in a third world country like Jamaica there is nothing here to help us on this jurney and nothing that prepares you for it. It was a rude awakening for me i cried at night's when i felt like i was melting inside out and i started smelling funny. This subject is taboo in our country, i love and appreciate you for helping women going through this difficult time wish you could come to my country.
Finally someone who knows exactly what I’m feeling. I have never had belly fat - I now have two rolls in the last two years. I’m miserable, brain fog is so real, anxiety is high, mood swings are awful. I don’t even feel like myself. I don’t even like myself. Can’t wait to check out your blogs
I’m 75. Always have eaten well and exercised. But 15 years ago I gave up sugar. I list about 15 lbs and have kept it off. Have been intermittent fasting for two years, and still have not gained weight.
@@Cadets1986Perhaps you eat food that rise your blood sugar? I am quite sensitive myself to that, but if I stay away from sugar (given) and also eat no fast carbs, I actually have the same size I used to, still slim, but yes, a bit more around the belly, but I have accepted that, it's not that much or an issue for me. As soon as I eat pasta or even normal potatoes, processed food, beer and white bread, the fat around belly will accumulate. I eat only one roll of sourdough bread with cheese in the morning, the rest of the day, greens, protein from meat or fish (loads of salmon), seafood, lentils and so on. Once a week sweet potato. It works, but you got to stick to it. Also, if it doesn't work, check your thyroid blood work.🌸
Alzheimer's, muscle loss. Had cervical cancer in 1998, complete hysterectomy. In 2012 Had stage 4 colorectal cancer. Lots of chemo and radiation. The vagina, the rectum and bladder are fried and damaged from radiation! Was not aware of low Estrogen or hormones even being checked . Today, I'm 59 and every Hormone out of wack. For the last year I've added HRT and it's very difficult adjusting the levels. Cholesterol thru the roof, Dr pissed because I refuse to take statin. THANKFUL for you and your dedication to helping us women! My mom at 60 diagnosed with TRUE CLASSIC ALZHEIMER'S. I truly believe now that hormones was a huge part of this. THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH. for helping us all❤
Hello Clarice, I'm so sorry to hear about the many challenges that you have had to endure, that sounds really really tough! And I am sincerely sorry if my message is unwelcome but when I read your comment I felt I had to leave a note. I went through menopause when I was 40 and very isolated with no medical care so at that stage I did a lot of research. Amongst the things I came across was the concept of 'the HRT window' or estrogen window. You may want to look it up. I think the advice is that HRT is beneficial if taken in peri or within 10 years of going through menopause, but that the benefits may not be great and there are some risks if it's been more than ten years since menopause. Please feel free to ignore my comment if it isn't welcome, but just in case you have not been made aware of the reduced benefit and increased risks, I felt I had to say it. Menopause Taylor's video's here on youtube were one of my resources. I only just found Dr Haver's videos today. I wish you a happy and healthy life 💖
@@kittydeleo4043This!!So important and my thoughts were exactly the same. Especially for someone already having had cancers. I personally think, in future there will be more science and data concerning HRT and who should take it and who shouldn't and when.
Cannot believe this video is a year old and I’m just now seeing it!!! 47 year old perimenopausal woman!! Thank you for sharing your information, your story and your experience!!
I have begun to do intermittent fasting, Pilates, ACV in water 3xday, different tea drinks through the day with fresh lemon juice and cinnamon, I add 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to my French press coffee pot everyday …. I have lost 35 lbs since Oct 24th 👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Dr Haver. I just found you a week ago. And I'm clinging to your every word!! Thank you for teaching us about all nutrition, belly fat etc. I'm 62 and I need this content so much. I joined your course, bought the Galveston diet book and got my first weeks groceries to begin tomorrow. ❤thank you
Dr. Haver, I just heard of you from Mel Robbins’ podcast and I loved the podcast on menopause that you were on with Mel. Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge and expertise on this field. This is the first time I’ve seen your video on UA-cam . And I am loving it! Besides your great content, you are so real. Your video has no filter. It’s so raw and it’s just so genuine! I usually don’t subscribe and I usually don’t comment either. But you definitely impressed me and I hit the subscribe button. Hope to learn more from you.
OMG you have literally explained what is happening to me when no one had an explanation except " your just getting older..it's normal " I'm 47 and have gained over 30 lbs in 2 years had a partial hysterectomy 13 yes ago. Diagnosed with hypothyroidism but just borderline so no medication. I found your utube channel and almost cried with emotional relief that there is an explanation for what's been happening with me. Thank you so much!
I am 45 and went into menopause at 42 ( this is when the stubborn tummy fat speared) it took so long to be diagnosed as dr thought l was to young for menopause & blamed PCOS instead. I had to start researching all my symptoms myself & eventually realised it was menopause & l finally convinced my dr to start me on HRT ( trans dermal) I am finally where l should be a feeling good & the belly fat has reduced & the hair loss l was suffering has improved somewhat. Doctors DEFINITELY need more menopause training as it is something that effects 50% of the world’s population. 🙏🏼❤️
Everything in my body has changed so harshly. Body pain, mobility, weight gain, skin, mood. Your information is great to be able to cope and work on all of these changes but Please Please Slow down!! So we can absorb all this amazing information. Thank you for reaching out to all of us women during this difficult time. Very thankful I found your channel.
Hi! Me too! Did you know you can slow down the UA-cam videos? Look for the gear icon (my mom thinks it looks like a flower, it’s a bumpy circle) and touch it to open, then look for playback speed option. You can temporarily change the playback speed to 0.75 (more or less) to slow down her normal speech speed for just that viewing of the video (commercials will stay normal speed). The speed setting will default to normal speed (1x) for your next video, so you are only changing playback speed temporarily. I hope this helps!
@@cathyquilts2609 Good advice. I had to slow down the video too for English is not my mother tongue and since menopauses my brain has slowed down a lot. My biggest fear is that it will stop working all together one day (dementia).
Dementia scares me the most. Taking care of my mom when she had dementia and seeing her mind literally disintegrate, was devastating. She left us far before she passed away.
I love the fact that you are here for our old lady bodies! I was on an estrogen patch and oral progesterone for about nine years. Sadly I had to stop using them due to hormone fed breast cancer. It was in situ, removed and I am fine. I have put on about seven pounds since stopping them, mostly in my middle. I am taking a hormone blocker. So glad to have found your channel . I want to stay healthy as I age, but it is harder now.
JUUUUUST started noticing slight changes in the past few months. NOT messing around and ordered your book this afternoon. The fact that you are a doctor, and certified in all the best ways and are a woman who is GOING THROUGH IT AS WELL is the absolute BEST lottery that we could all win by finding you!! 🥰🥰🥰
See a different doctor who knows about nutrition and food. This diet is just common sense and that she created it to make money turns me off. I went to see a naturopath and it changed my life. I am optimizing my health now.
This has been life altering. Can barely work… adrenal fatigue is so high, I’m in bed about 50% of the week. These symptoms are so debilitating and devastating!!!!!!!! You are amazing!!!!!!!
I want to thank you, Dr. Haver, for sharing your wisdom and experience on female menopause symptoms and treatment. After watching your interview with Mel Robbins, I began to look more into HRT and was fortunate to find a female physician willing to prescribe a combination of estradiol/micronized progesterone treatment for me. The difference this therapy has made on the quality of my health and life have been significant. No more headaches, no more strange episodes of pounding heartbeat, no more dizzying brain fog, far less hair loss and way more energy. Had I not seen your interview, I would likely still be struggling through each day feeling miserable. Thank you so much for sharing your work and your expertise to help me along with countless other women who have reached or are about to encounter menopause.
I’m almost 79 exercise and yoga 5 days a week. Considered to be very active for my age. The thing I worry about aging the most is losing my physical and mental independence.
That was the most comprehensive video about menopause I’ve had so far. Thank you so much for educating us. I pray and wish you to live to your 100’s or more. You definitely deserve the award winning ❤
I just found you. I’m 37. In 2020, a malignant tumor was removed from my right ovary but I decided to have a complete hysterectomy due to the cancer. I was 130 at the time. I’m now 175. I’m learning so much from you, thank you. There is no information for women my age going through this. Emotionally I am so depressed due to the whole situation.
This is my first time discovering you on UA-cam, and I’m so glad I did! Today, August 27, 2024, I listened to your talk about HRT, and it inspired me to make an appointment with my OB-GYN to discuss it. I’m hoping my OB-GYN is menopause-friendly! I’m 59, turning 60 this November, and I’m thrilled to learn it’s not too late to start HRT at this stage of my life.
Eat more protein. 1-1.5 grams per kg of body mass Get plenty of fiber. 25-35 g per day Track nutrition Probiotics daily. Food or supplement Intermittent fasting 16:8 (16 hours fasting, 8 hours eating) Aerobic Activity
You have explained all my questions. My gynecologist don’t know anything about it. I asked for the patch and she refused to give it to me, stated she didn’t know much about it. I am so thankful I found you. Thank You for caring about us.
I went through menopause at 57, and started menses at 13, so 44 years of dysmenorrhea and extremely heavy flow - was so glad when it all stopped... until now. At age 63, BOOM, 30 pounds in 6 months after a minor bought of covid, but 2 bouts with food poisoning (stay away from the deli at the grocery store!) and I quit smoking, and mostly in my belly. I decided to start intermittent fasting and eliminate any food that comes in a box with a barcode. I've lost 3 lbs in 8 days and feel great, looking forward to getting healthier.
@@monicaledesma4084Agree, but if you put one spoon of oatmeal in it, it won't rise your blood sugar. a cup will, although. I do that, but I don't do honey (don't like it), but put a spoon of Greece full fat youghurt in it as well. And half a banana (which is sweet, I know, but that works for me) Sometimes fat can even out that little sweets in a meal, so your blood sugar won't rise from it.
I now realize in 2005 @ 55, when I had unexplained, fast onset, end-life anxiety & depression, I was right to ask my (female) D.O. primary care physician if it could be due to perimenopause. She said no, I was too young since I was still menstruating, and I was started on Lexapro immediately with weekly psycho therapy for 3 years and annual psychiatrist checks for 7 years. Weaned off on my own during COVID due to near-aversion sexual response around my husband who I love dearly and who is extremely patient and kind. Now I’ve been lax and drifting for a year til my mom crashed and entered assisted living. This video hit my stream at the best time so I don’t end up like her re: unable to lift my arms, get up from a fall, or comb my own hair. My husband AND I say ❤ Thank you!!
This is exactly what happened to me. I didn’t have any weight issues my whole life but gained 30 pounds in 2 years around menopause - all fat, especially on the belly. Have been trying to lose it for over a year now and it hasn’t budged 🥺
Hopefully this video helped! Here is a link to our 'Pause blog and quizzes that might guide you in speeding up that process: galvestondiet.com/link-in-bio/
Same! I gained 25 lbs in two years and can not get it off! Started HRT during menopause. I feel better overall but my weight has not budged. I gain and lose around 6 lbs. Constant yo yo! My weight gain is all over my body not just in the belly. I don't recognize my body. 😢
I just found your videos today and this one has me in tears. I never had a problem with weight until I had a partial hysterectomy at age 38. The first few years were fine but once that remaining ovary began to die the weight pilled on. For reference I'm 5'0 with a small frame. I weighed 98 lbs at the time of my hysterectomy and I had given birth 3 times. Now, at age 55 I'm in the obese category. Now I have hope since I found YOU! Thank you so much
Messaging is so confusing these days, especially for young people. “Embrace your curves” has come to mean, it’s ok to be obese. They put HUGE morbidly obese woman on the covers of magazines and say “This is Beauty”. When celebrities lose weight, they are criticized for “selling out”. It’s ok to not be ok with being too heavy and seeking out info like this to help get back into balance and reduce the unhelpful fat. Tough love and facts are more helpful then “Your obesity is beautiful! Don’t change a thing!” talk. Telling people to “embrace their curves” has become as unhelpful as telling menopausal women “it’s just part of getting older. There’s nothing you can do”. There’s no upside to being fat when you are young. None. You CAN be truthful with someone without shattering their soul. THEY ALREADY KNOW ANYWAY. Validate their truth, not their denial. There’s no upside to gaining weight due to menopause. This “embrace your curves” phrase had good intentions 20 years ago but now, it sends the wrong message. How bout, “Love your body into better health” I almost feel rage when I say I’m trying to figure out how to lose weight and some well meaning man says, “No, I like a woman with curves”. WE, as women, need to stop conflating Curves with Fat. If we are taught that “Curves/Fat are wonderful” why would we be interested in being less curvy? We really need to be crystal clear on what we say and “Embrace your curves” has become convoluted.
I'm so happy I stumbled across you! I'm a 43 yr old post menopause woman and have been trying to find a Dr that could help me and understand what my body is going through, all the gyno doctors I've seen just brush me off and say they can't help me. So thank you so much ❤️
8 min in the answer is Yes! I thought the weight gain was from starting Lexapro , which could be part of it, but I’m also starting menopause and suddenly my belly is big! I look pregnant. That’s why I stopped here. I love your passion!!! I am a nursing student, life coach, and I definitely feel your enthusiasm and passion for science, health, and helping others!
I just subscribed to and liked your show it is the 2nd I have watched today, and you make me feel hope, I'm 72 and understand now years of suffering from everything you mention so much so I have become a recluse. I won't go into it because you already know how we all suffer. But I will listen to you and change my attitude. Thanks for streaming for us granny's.
I am not menopausal yet . But I was searching for information for my sister and my older gfs who are going through it . I have to tell you Dr ! You are such great doctor ! I hope you make lots of money
Neeeeever had weight issues! Always healthy hip to waist ratio. Now, at 49 (started at 48), my hour glass started getting filled in with fat. I'm not obsessed with getting on the scale. I just feel "compressed" in my midsection. I do HIIT training at least 3x week and eat well. Thank you for this information! I swear to god if someone else tells me to just get used to it, I'm going to send them your way!!! Too many men out there telling me about MY female body!!
@@tashad2201 I've had positive results with it. I don't do hours of HIIT training, however. I have found a groove that works for me. I work out intensely for 15 to 30 minutes and I'm done. I do that about 3 to 4 times a week with some resistance training. (Look up Hotworx. It works well for me.) I'm too busy to do anything that is longer than that. Besides, I hate working out and I would just rather get it over with. I recently started on progesterone HRT and have noticed a significant difference in my ability to shed fat and I sleep better. The main thing I've noticed is to stay consistent and listen to my body when it comes to what I eat and my exercise routine. I also take walks a few times a week in the evening hours to reduce my stress levels. I hope this helps.
This is exactly what happened to me. Started at age 49. I was a kick boxing instructor and all of a sudden… I get this belly, my whole body changed. Thank you for this information. I appreciate it
I had a “bikini body” until my early 50s, then BOOM, I went through menopause, and now I have the belly fat. Thank you for confirming that having a HEALTHY “old lady body” is a thing!😊
I suddenly gained weight about 7 years ago, it literally happened in 2 months. Since then I haven't been able to get rid of it, kept gaining weight- about 20 kilograms (about 3 kg every year). Now I believe I know when exactly my perimenopause started and that I might have up to 3 more years until menopause hits. The information you present here is life changing and reassuring. Thank you!
You were recommended to me. I've been fit all my life, including being 16%, body fat after 4 babies including 1 c-section. I went into menopause 3-4 years ago and now I'm struggling with my weight, suffer from migraines, tired, and can't get to feel right. I'm so glad you are educating us here ...
Great information. I’m 52 years old in a full peri menopause now. I have been active all my life. An active cyclist for many years I have never struggle with the middle part until now!
Thank you for everything you are doing to help women. My condolences for the loss of your loved ones.great that you are using your loss as an motivation to help others.🙏🏽
May your family souls rest in peace. May the Lord strengthen and comfort you. You are a brave heart and amazing person. God bless and grant you good health. 🙏🏽
I’m in the UK, 50 years old and could always lose weight in the past. I go to the gym 5 times a week and walk daily and always try to eat healthily. I am getting married on the 9 July and just can’t loose any weight which is especially around my stomach. I joined the Galveston diet 5 days ago and have lost 5 pounds! I eat in the 8 hours and although I’m a picky eater the recipes are delicious and I feel great!

So glad I found you! I went through menopause early, age 38, as did most women in my father's family. I stayed slender and athletic for many years, but mobility was affected when arthritis, scoliosis and osteoporosis took over, and I put on belly fat. Refused Premarin for ethical reasons, and it was the only game in town in those days. I'm 74 now with a host of ailments that can be linked to the menopausal condition. Will see an endocrinologist next month to see if the new body-identical estrogen might benefit me, even at this age. I have a calculated life expectancy of 100+, so have a great desire to feel good again in the many years ahead of me. The information you provide makes a huge difference in my new quest. BTW ... I make my own Greek yogurt -- no sugar, of course, but I do add homemade vanilla to sweeten the flavor. Who doesn't like vanilla?
Thank you for your great advices Dr Mary Clair I’m in progressive menopause and just watched your informative video which definitely wil help me reduce my weight and my belly fat ! Watching you from Greece
What scare me the most in aging are not those wrinkles line, sagging skin, fat around my waist but the thought of not being able to walk and having oestoporosis and wheelchair bounds are really terrifying for me..I have seen how my mom suffers from oestoporosis and fractured her lumbar bones which causes her unable to walk independently and needs assisted living really makes me realise I need to do something now ..I am 53 years old and so glad to find your video here..
I’ve been pre diabetic for about 15 years. I am 53 now and have a history of gestational diabetes. I am 10 months PO a total abdominal hysterectomy and still have my ovaries. In the past 3 months I have had an unexplained 16 pound weight gain. This video was so helpful thank you so much!
I am so thrilled I found you and wish I knew about you 10 years ago! My quality of life in menopause has been awful. I was 130lbs my entire life and once I hit 55, I blew up like a balloon and had to go on hormones to try and manage severe hot flashes. I am a sponge and want to learn more!
Thanks doc! You are the best Perimenopause, menopause, post menopause doc online. To the point of advice, easy to understand and very positive vibes from the screen reaching us....
Thank you for sharing your dauggter, your family, and some meal ideas. Love that your daughter keeps you honest and updated on nutrition and so cool that she wants to change the world! I hope she can educate the world. 🙏
Love your videos- what scares me as I grow old: losing mobility, cancer, osteoporosis! Looking forward to learning more from you. I went into surgical menopause when I was 47, now, I am 57! My belly and breasts have blown up like a tick. I don’t want to grow older having to carry this around.
I agree with you on losing my mobility and strength!!! I’m 55 years old I go to the gym and work out not heavy with weights and do some cardio but I feel like I can’t get off the floor as easily as I used to or climb up steep stairs as well
Thank you so much for what you doing, I am grateful that I found you. I am watching you in about 4-5 months and I get answered to lots of my questions regarding my menopausal symptoms.
MenoBlob belly is my new friend. Getting used to it is the hard part but know it’s just my body changing. I have done intermittent fasting and low level keto and it does work to lessen the bloating. I noticed my bowel movement patterns are also changing and needed to increase my tea and gut health regime. Thanks Doc!!
So glad I came across your site. My weight has been increasing over the years. I recently purchased a scale that shows the visceral and subcutaneous fat. I will now look at decreasing those two instead of weight. As a person who never really had weight issues until menopause, the weight gain has been really hard. I haven't had any good success with losing weight. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Dr. Haver- thank you for sharing all this information. I am a former St. Jude patient as well. I had the same cancer as your brother, ALL. I have been in remission for 40 years now. I love following and watching your content and I'm trying to follow the Galveston diet as well. I started to have menopause symptoms when I was 38, so I am totally feeling the menopause struggles. Just wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Keep doing what you're doing! Women are benefitting!
Mobility and chronic pain. Am 76 and dealing with both. Premarin age 42-70 due to maternal family line osteoporosis. Now am dealing with side effects of doc unwilling to continue to prescribe.
Loved Loved “we are here for the old lady body” Expressing the necessity of good brain health. Physical ability to move without pain. I would love to have you on my podcast, Know Your Crazy for the health segment. I too became passionate about menopause when it affect me, after witnessing women I coached struggle emotionally when I knew they had done the emotional work to elevate themselves. I started to study hormones or lack thereof. Thank you for your work.
First, I am so glad I came across your channel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Fatigue is very big and I already have a inflammatory process in my body with Ulcerative Colitis (IBD) that makes me very tired. I have worse depression and anxiety. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at 48 shy a month of 49, so I was probably already starting Peri menopause. Now in Peri and 54 years old going on 55 in a couple of months, I still have me period. I have very increased rage, breast tenderness, wired feeling a week before and can't sleep, heart palpitations and seen a cardiologist, stinky sweat, hot flashes, etc. I cannot take HRT because during a severe flare in my colitis, hospitalized and got a DVT blood clot and on blood thinners. So not hormone replacement. I really suffer with daily things because of it. I used to be a woman that ran to the gym, worked out all the time, and good health. I know to not have the energy. I do walk an hour a day with my dog. Thank God for my dog. It really does help, but it is not enough to fight fat in the waist that I did not have before.
I think its best not to spend time worrying on what might be. Yes keep brain and body active and eat well, etc. the elderly who have dementia often aren’t aware they have it and they can often still be happy in their reality . Many elderly ladies for instance will just want a baby they are given a doll and are really happy just caring for the doll. Often ex carers will believe they’re one of the staff and enjoy helping feed the other residents. I’ve met men who think they’re with their mates and want to go to the pub and that can be play acted in the nursing home albeit with non alcoholic beer
Speaking from experience, wait until the pain has subsided if it's hormonal pain ❤ Then... you'll have your brain back for a week and you use that window of opportunity to change your food choices ❤❤ and walk 20 mins a day at first. If you can catch yourself on that better day you can build that habit. I take digestive enzymes and a pro biotic for the gut problems.
Love that you speak so clearly, so articulately and without forgetting what you wanted to get across to people. Makes your videos very nice to watch and listen to! ❤❤❤❤
Your daughter is adorable. My daughter is about the same age and it is the biggest blessing and compliment when they want to go into the similar field as their mom. Wanting to bring good health to people
I’m struggling to loose the 50lbs of fat I put on after stroke at 47 ( no risk factors!). I’ve never been fat in my life until now, 7 years later I’m 53 & in menopause ( also had a hysterectomy same year as my stroke). I’m doing IF, increasing my protein, started working out 11 min on bike to warm up & lifting weights. I’m not regular with my workouts as I struggle with chronic pain stroke left me with neuropathy like pain on my affected side. I’m going to watch everything you have!
I also suffer from chronic neuropathic pain throughout my body and find exercise very difficult aside from walking. I'm 49 and am putting on weight lost my hourglass figure. I tried keto but just couldn't keep it up. Not looking forward to anything about menopause except no periods would be good.
Just came across your videos and feeling so happy! I am turning 60 this year and going through breast cancer now and feeling pretty low with my body. I workout everyday and try to do my best at eating clean. Just did my measurements and measured at a .81… and feeling elated that I am healthier than I realized! I will continue getting stronger and focus on the positives. Thank you!
So very glad I found your channel! I'm 54 and considered peri-menopausal because I am still having a period every few months. I used to run 3 miles a day in my 40s and was in the best shape of my life but once I hit my 50s I really started to notice my balance was not the same, belly fat and lacking energy. I have been eating healthy but got out of regular exercise. I have a super nice treadmill upstairs and have weights and programs I can do.....your video has helped me to start doing something about this. I appreciate all your information! I am 5' 7" and weigh 168 :( My goal weight according to my doctor is 145. So here's to losing 23 pounds! Thank you!!!
I just found this video and I don’t believe in coincidences! So much good advice! Just turned 62 and have been struggling with a 20 pound weight gain in the last 3 years. I have been scared of HRT and I’m not sure why but am going to a female gynecologist soon to talk about it. Thank you so much!❤
I was always thin and muscular until I turned 55 and menopause ran over me with the belly fat train. I gained 20 lbs all around my stomach and back, and could not get it to come off no matter what foods I ate or eliminated, how much I fasted, exercised or tried everything known to man. Then I started using the progesterone my doctor gave me, and in four weeks the belly fat was off and my muscle tone is back. Hormones. That’s what did it! Hormones.
Two years into menopause I had gained some 14 pounds and I was already 14 pounds above my normal weight (I ended up weighing 158.7 pounds). I ate fairly well, had considerably reduced my intake of wheat, corn, rice and added sugar, I don't drink sodas EVER, I exercised as usual, but still couldn't lose weight. In December last year I decided to cut out on all those foods 100%, I also stopped drinking wine and reduced my intake of dairy products to just 25 ml of milk per day, no cheese. In 3 days I lost 5.5 pounds whereas in a year I had lost only 3.3 pounds. In 8 months I lost 24 pounds but my body fat percentage indicated that I was still overweight although I weighed 134.4 pounds. In all those months I lost only 5% body fat. I forgot to tell you that in December I also started intermittent fasting 12/12. Two weeks ago I changed to 16/8 . In just one week I lost 2% of my body fat. I still have some 4% to lose to be at a normal percentage but I was amazed at the efficiency of intermittent fasting at getting rid of my excess body fast. Simply unbelievable.
Marivi Palimino. It sounds like your weight loss can be attributed to two things, the elimination of most dairy (dairy is high sodium and can cause fluid retention) and other inflammatory foods, plus the intermittant fasting. IF is a game-changer but the elimination of inflammatory foods also factors greatly in your weight loss. IF is just not as effective if we are still consuming foods that are inflammatory to our body.
I sustained a flat stomach after 4 children in my 20’s and 30’s (3 c-sections) and suddenly at age 51 (I'm 53 too), I gained about 15-20lbs and majority is in abdomen and breast. I started HRT and am getting back into weights because my trainer did the in-body scan and said I need to lose 15lbs of fat and gain 5lbs of muscle. it doesn't move the scale much, but would make me look and feel better and stronger. I need to work on my diet. i love your videos and just pre-ordered your book! thanks for you message!
Thank you - really enjoyed this - have started on hormone therapy in Feb and can now start feeling the changes - so grateful. Also eliminated wheat from my diet was a gamechanger
I’m terrified of losing my mind due to a family history of Alzheimer’s disease on both sides of my family. I am 49, a wife and mother to a 14 yr old and an 11 year old. I want to be there for them for a long time more!
Just came across this video. You're describing me perfectly... I am 63 now and went through early menopause (done by 50), and am a 'healthy' weight for my height (6 feet, 160 lbs). But my belly fat has increased while my weight has gone down or remained the same especially the last 4-5 years...despite hiking, working out regularly. Going to increase my protein intake and see what difference that makes. Don't want to lose weight, but I do want to gain muscle.
Finally a conversation that affirms what a lot of us 50 yr old menopausal women are going through. Definitely can't eat or drink sugary stuff anymore, contributes to gastritis/ ibs/ sibo/gerd. The chronic dry mouth, starts effecting our gums and teeth . Pretty much like falling off a cliff.
I put on about 10-15 lbs between Christmas and February despite a lifting routine and zipping up my eating plan. I even completed the 28-day challenge at the gym (didn't miss a day in Feb.). Upped my protein, stopped eating out so much and have been watching my macros. My arms and legs look good, and I'm like a balloon around the middle, including sides. :( SO discouraged. I'm 47 but don't know if I've started the pre-menopause cycle. Also, SO tired ALL THE TIME. Can't get out of bed most mornings. Thank you for this and all your vidoes!
At 47, with your symptoms, you're most definitely in peri-menopause. The tiredness, body aches, dry skin were my first symptoms. If you're not on HRT, you should be. If you are and still getting symptoms, you need a higher dose.
This is what happened to me. I have gained 35 lbs over the last 3 years, while I'm going through menopause. I'm dealing with weight gain in my abdomen, when I've always had a flat stomach. I'm now pre-diabetic, which is my biggest fear, because I've lost my grandmother and aunt to complications due to diabetes. This is ringing alarms. I know I have an excessive amount of visceral fat.
I just watched my mother die with hospice care for failure to thrive, she turned 77 two days before she died. Broke her leg 10/23 she never got up again, passed Feb/24. Im 54, stopped periods 10 yrs ago, but within the last year am experiencing the belly fat, woke up one morning, it was there. Thank you. Sorry my mom missed this information.
Top tips to reduce belly fat in menopause 19:00
1. Eat more protein : 1-1.5g protein /kg of lean body mass
2. Fiber :
3. Probiotics : yogurt, fermented foods, miso, soft sour pickles
4. Intermittent fasting : 16:8
5. Aerobic activity

You are the MVP!!!!! 🏆 Thanks.
Thank you! I really like her info, but these video are really long.
Thanks
Thanks 🙏🏻
I so feel you.😢
Ditto! I thought it was just me. It's so frustrating
Same here!
Oh yeah that’s me
Omg! That me. 😢 😭
My dad ALWAYS ALWAYS said this from like the past 50 years that subcutaneous fat is not the real enemy but the fat that you can’t see and is around the organs. Thank you so much for saying that aloud.
Bless your heart for giving menopause women a voice and help!
Right!?!? She is amazing I just learned about her and her practice recently. I adore her for being her own hero & being a #MenopauseWarrior ❤️🩹❤️🙏🏻
Sounds like me right now. 😞
Try bio-identical hormones. Life-changing and healthy.
Also try the Dr mindy Pelz, she s a professional menopause dr and has some amazing fasting protocols suitable for women .
Taking care of my elderly mother recently has opened my eyes to how critical it is to stay strong and healthy through my 50s and beyond.
I’m in the same situation which is why I’m very anxious in avoiding bone density, osteoporosis ❤
@@Hello-Stoiko Same - so lift weights! Weight bearing exercise is much better than just cardio. Protein also helps us build & keep muscle mass
I’m 75. Always have eaten well and exercised. But 15 years ago I gave up sugar. I list about 15 lbs and have kept it off. Have been intermittent fasting for two years, and still have not gained weight.
well God bless you. I do all of those and haven't lost an ounce.
What is intermitent fasting?
May God continue too Always Bless you 🙏🏽 🙏🏽
That’s specific confirmation for me. Things I already know but ignore/justify to protect my love of truffles.
Also, if it doesn't work, check your thyroid blood work.🌸
Losing my memory, my independence, my mobility and cancer

This video should be seen by all women in Menopause. Thank you for sharing! Most complete and clarifying video I’ve ever seen in internet.

Same exact story here! ✋️
Hi. You need estrogen and testosterone.
I am 45 and went into menopause at 42 ( this is when the stubborn tummy fat speared) it took so long to be diagnosed as dr thought l was to young for menopause & blamed PCOS instead.
I had to start researching all my symptoms myself & eventually realised it was menopause & l finally convinced my dr to start me on HRT ( trans dermal) I am finally
where l should be a feeling good & the belly fat has reduced & the hair loss l was suffering has improved somewhat. Doctors DEFINITELY need more menopause training as it is something that effects 50% of the world’s population.
🙏🏼❤️
What scares me most is being totally reliant on someone else to care for me who doesn’t care for me at all.
Exactly.
I totally agree with you.
Ditch soda and sugar. They are linking blood sugar levels and dementia.
I went through this with my mom as well. She passed last Oct from Alzheimer's. Horrible disease and very tough times. It's what I'm most scared of.
Get adrenals tested by endocrinologist. I take Standard Process Bovine Adrenals.
Praying for you dear
I love that you honor your relatives with those cards and shared your family with us. Your home is also gorgeous as well.
You are welcome in the Galveston Diet community and we'd love to have you. You can check out the program at www.galvestondiet.com
1-1.5 grams per kg of body mass
Get plenty of fiber. 25-35 g per day
Track nutrition
Probiotics daily. Food or supplement
Intermittent fasting 16:8 (16 hours fasting, 8 hours eating)
Aerobic Activity
Good for you! Keep going!!

Thank you so much
I have amost identical situation you just described. Spot on!
Have you tried a juice cleanse? Juice in the raw has a good one.
Me too! Had Hysterectomy at age 32 and it been down hill since
Messaging is so confusing these days, especially for young people.
100% agree. Years ago 'curves' are what Sophia Loren had. Nowadays it means a size 24, 18stone woman.

Does Hiitt help with losing the weight. All I here is I won't be able to get rid of it
@@tashad2201 I've had positive results with it. I hope this helps.
lipo suction is the only solution. 20year olds still cant loose belly fat at times due to hormones.
You cannot get rid of visceral fat with lipo. Only subcutaneous fat.
Facts! my hour glass figure is getting filled in too! I don't know how else say it smh!

Thank you for watching!
Such great information! So many people our age complain about these symptoms and don’t know what to do. Love this. Thank you!!
Aging…worst fear is chronic pain and then losing my memory.
The estrogen patch doesn’t have the first pass through the liver, which is how clots start-ish. Not sure if progesterone can cause clots.
What scares me the most is loosing my memory and my mobilty
Try changing your thoughts to telling yourself that this will never happen. To you. As fearful thoughts can make things a reality
Go carnivore!
What is the thyroid and menopause conection?
Hormones.
What other benefits besides weight loss have you noticed from taking progesterone?
Did you take any estradiol as well or just progesterone?
I am
49, a wife and mother to a 14 yr old and an 11 year old.
That's what I'm here for! Keep it up!
I hear you! We have a great full nutritional plan to learn about: www.galvestondiet.com
At 47, with your symptoms, you're most definitely in peri-menopause. The tiredness, body aches, dry skin were my first symptoms. If you're not on HRT, you should be. If you are and still getting symptoms, you need a higher dose.
Hi Mary, Im a Registered Dietitian and 48. Thanks for your helpful info. I'm educating myself so I can help my weight loss clients over 45.
Love that your daughter joined you. So cool. Thank you for the info
I love your videos. I have PCOS along with peri menopause so I feel screwed! This weight gain is no joke
Thank you!

I have told my husband that 10 pounds came on in menopause without diet change. So glad to have found your knowledge!
Grateful for the legacy you’re giving and leaving ❤
