I should have waited for a warm day to watch this! Out in the barn where the laptop I watched this on lives, it's 42. Not as cold as there but now I think I need to go inside and warm up my fingers.
Great video TM. That storm was definitely a doozy last night. Your van is awesome. I hope to have something similar someday. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas Brother!
Thats pretty awesome! The van is a winter spa retreat!! We are in South Carolina where it is going to get down to 18... coldest its been here in decades! Looks like we brought the Indiana weather with us!
@@TrailMedic911 Will do!! Merry Christmas to y'all as well. Rugged Mountain Siblings have a special little video coming out Christmas morning for Ye Faithful Few!!
SE Wisconsin. Prematurely cold. Did -8°F night before last. -31° wind-chill. Living out of an old Ford window van. Temps like this are a challenge. Nothing cooperates. Portable Buddy heater doesn't work well when it's this cold. Propane in small cylinders doesn't act right. Used a cordless heat gun to help it. Drained a big battery quickly at that temperature. 1 lb cylinders will seem empty but they aren't. Unscrew them and they leak slowly because the valve froze open. That's the biggest danger right there. Either put them outside when changing cylinders or make damn sure it's completely empty. You can use the pilot only to empty them but it takes time. Pilot will shrink and go out. It's not empty. Wait a few minutes and it will light. Propane starts as a liquid and expands into gas form. It takes more time for that to happen in very cold weather. It may take several cycles of pilot only until it goes out, wait and repeat until a cylinder is empty. Heat gun speeds up that process. Be safe!
I love seeing the storm outside, the van that just looks like a mass of steel that gets you from A to B to Z, opening up the door, and seeing how warm and toastie it is inside. And yours looked very inviting. Bit disappointed not to see some of the storm but I'm sure there will be some more clips of yours to watch with a blizzard or two. Jah bless.
I'm in ohio stuck in my truck, -3 outside. I bought hand and feet warmers and a little buddy heater to make it till Monday when it warms up. Just gonna repackage heater and return it after Monday to get my $80 back lol. I can say it does work to help survive. 2 big hand warmers in my coat pockets and the feet warmers I'm actually comfortable considering the temp is 30 degree less than normal lol. This sux but I'm surviving, gym and rest areas help too
These temperatures are very cold at the same time under the right conditions I bundle up sleep like a bear in hibernation..... there’s nothing like waking up to a fire in my tent at three in the morning and cooking some shrimp beef chicken kebabs filling my stomach and going back to sleep at the same time maybe watching a movie That will put me to sleep and I can wake up and have an awesome breakfast
You rule!!!I have a safari van and I just got a heater after watching your install video on the Astro :) keep doing what you’re doing you’re an inspiration:)
@@TrailMedic911 Merry Christmas to you too. Also I have a 3d print for a holder for the very controller your using for yours. Be happy to print you one if you could use it.
I tend to say we. I think it’s because of the camera. I talk to it as if I’m talking to all of you. Also I worked with a partner as a team on the ambulance for 38 years where there is definitely no I in TEAM!!!!
