  • www.lawmanguitars.com A beautiful top of the line Ibanez Studio Series ST300 Solid body guitar with the awesome Tri-Sound Humbucker Pickups, Power Boost circuit AND Original Hard shell Case.
This guitar is incredible. Huge sound out of these humbucker pickups and activate the power boost, be prepared to leave your drummer in the dust! This guitar is LOUD!!!
This is a wonderful, versatile and unusual guitar. Heavy, solid with a fat neck and lots of sustain.
It is all original, except for the volume and tone knobs which were replaced..The originals were no where to be found..The frets are still in really good shape. See pic 5...Just superficial dings and scratches as expected in a 38 year old guitar.
The original Tri-tone V-2 pickups can be used as passive humbuckers, split for single coil, or engage the active circuit in both modes for a volume or gain boost. Along with the three way pickup selector this means you can get endless combinations of tone.
    Specs…
    Body: Ash/ Walnut/ Maple/ Walnut/ Ash
    Neck: Laminated Rock Maple
    Fingerboard: Rosewood. 24 frets
    25.5" scale neck
Tuners: Gold Ibanez Deluxe 18:1 Ratio
    Hardware: Heavy Gold plated
    Nut: 1 3.4 inch
    Weight: 9 lbs 5 oz
Jeff the Tech went over this guitar completely. We had to replace a transistor in the circuit board that was intermittent. It works perfectly now.. The Power Circuit has a tone range that gives you quite a variety of sounds. A very versatile guitar! He set it up with awesome playing low action for fast leads and effortless bending…It’s a pleasure to play!
Check out the original Hard shell Case. You never see these guitars with the original case. Quite a find to get this one with the case. Very RARE!

Back in the 80’s and early 90’s I was in a band from Manchester England called Tunnel Frenzies. We did okay and managed to support such bands as Mudhoney, Hole and Babes In Toyland. The ST 300 was the guitar I used. Produced a great sound but you knew you had been carrying it when you came off stage. An HH amp electrocuted me in a studio once and threw me across the room whilst wearing the ST 300. It damaged the bodywork around the jack. I still play it today although what I wouldn’t give to be back in my 20’s sitting in the back of a transit van travelling down the M1 to London to play it live. Good days.

I just got one of these and it is fantastic. Very solid build, a fluid, super easy-playing neck and an amazing variety of sounds from the Ibanez ST300. A rare but outstanding instrument from the late 70’s heydays when Ibanez was making far better guitars than American makers. And this is indeed the top of the line from the Ibanez Studio line. Love it. I have heard that these guitars were the inspiration for Paul Reed Smith’s first guitars.

Mine was built in July 1979 and I bought it in February 1980. The UK retail price was £302, I paid £272 from the old Dick Middleton music store in Guildford. Did not come with that case, though. My case is a ToyoGakki. I was playing it today and is an absolute beast, hugely versatile.

I really like your Ibanez videos. I remember these guitars most as used guitars in the mid 80's. They were priced dirt cheap. I picked up a 78 cn200 with the original hard shell flight case for $250!!!! They had a hard time giving these away. I still have that guitar and play it to this day. Awesome guitars no doubt! Wish I could have bought a few more back then as I see the prices have gone up quite a bit. Still, even at the prices they are today, I consider them a steal.

I have one that I bought in about 1983 2nd hand from Eric Lindsay and i recently had it rebuilt by Jon Dickinson of Dickinson amp fame and it is an amazing sounding and playing guitar.
With the actives on it'll blow the windows out and the range of tones accessible is almost limitless. (yes the 'hole' on the back is for the top strap dongle)
The electrics, if they start playing up are easy to fix and there are wiring diagrams for them on the net..
I really can't fault this guitar, hence me keeping it for 35 years! If you love tone and power get one..

Great review. I had that model for several years when I was a kid and jammed with buddies quite a bit. Wish I never sold it :) oh if we knew then what we know know

Just ran across one of these at a local shop. Didn't plug it in but I liked the neck a lot and action was great. Scale length seemed longer than 25.5" Fender length, but that must have been my imagination. At a bit over $500 seems a good deal.

You had said in the video your tech had to service the circuit board, what exactly was the issue and what was replaced? My 78' ST300 developed an annoying, pronounced 60 cycle hum when in single coil modes, I would assume. The other positions sound fine and cavity shielding appears intact. I know the PCB has 4 electrolytics, 2 mylar film and a few resistors. Need to address the issue on this amazing guitar. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!

either the pickups and rings were changed or just the rings
should have 3 holes for mounting the V2 pickups
