My Zephyrus G14 came with liquid metal already applied from Asus. I had to repaste it recently because it dried up. My temps shot to around 86 before the repaste. Now it's sitting in the low 60s after.
Surprised that the liquid metal dried out, didn't realize that was a thing. That is the problem with the higher spec pastes though. We love to make fun of the stock pastes that the manufacturers use, but that stuff is mediocre for _years_. That said, I still use enthusiast paste on my desktop, Noctua NT-H2 at the moment. -Zax
@@r1oot That's kinda unpleasant to think about. Gab did this to his laptop, I (the other dude on the channel) am not a fan. I just put noctua NT-H2 and it's good enough for me. I'm not risking electrical shorts or corrosion if there's some aluminum I didn't notice around. It's neat to see the difference in temps, but it's not worth all the headache to me. -Zax
@@Dekon7 Why would you replace it? I have had liquid metal on every CPU I had for the last 15 years and I have never replaced it, cooling performance did not degrade at all over the years.
So it's been 2yrs, how's the laptop? I have some red high temp rtv laying around.. and got some LM. I might just do the cpu only... and arctic mx6 on the gpu or something.
always unplug - i already finished up and reconnected the battery when i found 2 fan screws that i didnt put into the fans. thought "theres no need for disconnecting the battery" - dropped a screw- sparks flew. lucky the laptop works. another problem with screws that you might drop is that they might even bounce and roll shorting multiple areas. aswell there is the habit of some people to jsut flip the heat sink and just rest it on the laptop - another way to short it if you dont unplug

What spec do u have?
What kind of paste did u use?

Will u use ASTON for removing the nail polish if u ever wante in the future?
@@aliosanlou4425 that nail polish just never coming off
Bad ass thanks for the vid manufacturers need to be doing this
they are starting to, its probably harder to service down the road though
I believe the ps5 uses liquid metal for the die. I think...asus? also made a laptop with it. Just a pain to prevent it from leaking out on a laptop.
Well the results really make me wanna throw caution to the wind.
100% not worth the risk to most users
After how many days should we change the liquid metal in asus rog strix g15?
people say you need to replace it after the first few months but mine hasnt had any issues, still runs super cool
@@CoilWhine i have asus rog strix g15 2021. Its been only 6 mknths..i only use it for music production...is it okay if I change it after 2 years?
You dont need to replace it at all or maybe after couple years.

customer zephyrus g14 died from factory liquid metal spillimg imto cpu caps
there was a big glop of it this is umacceptable
Is liquid metal better than thermal paste?
yes
Yep i"ve been using it. I reapply every 5 Month. Using 2 layer double protection which is pcb coating and kaptop tape. Max temp is 85 never goes 90

did you unplug the battery? ive heard horror stories for dudes unplugging the battery on the g14 lmao
Yolo
Like what?
I unplug the battery, accidentally push that metal piece too far back and it cost short circuit lmao

can i use Permatex 82180 to cover the exposed circuit? ty in advance.
yeah im pretty sure thats what i used, its been over a year lol
Don't take this the wrong way, but wouldn't doing this be useless considering that the Zephyrus already comes with conductonaut on the CPU?
it definitely makes a difference for temps but i wouldn't recommend it
The G14 in the video is a 2020 model, no LM on that one
Well, mine died.
was killed by LM? i'm thinking buying some LM, having some serious throttling on my g14 and i thought this was a good idea
What is the black rtv you used. Is it like a elektrical tape but in sillicone form. Thank you
Its just standard black permatex rtv
@@CoilWhine thank you, how hard is it to remove it ?
Is it still working? What’s the difference between konductonaut and kryonaut?
Yeah still works great konductonaut is conductive and kryonaut isnt i would go with kryonaut if you just want some safe improvements

it would be interesting putting liquid metal in a new pc (who has never been ever started) and see in 6-12 months how the heat and performances go
