    Fantastic tutorial Debbie. Male aged 71 here. Needed some new curtains and decided to have a go. I had an old 'wind-up' Singer but bought a bottom-of-the-range Brother machine which is excellent. Followed your instructions and they have turned out brilliantly. I also opted for a hand-sewn hem. Thanks very much, Nic.

    I bought a sewing machine a few weeks ago, and my husband has volunteered me to make some lined curtains for my mother in law. I had no idea where to even begin! I’ve just made a small version with some spare fabric to see if I could do it, and OMG, I have made a lined curtain! Thank you so much for this tutorial! 🎉

    Hi Debbie, I really enjoyed your tutorial and successfully made a pair of curtain drapes. They worked out really well except for the mitred corners. So I do have one question on that. If the width of the fabric is 7 inches wider than the lining, that gives 3.5 inches on either side of the curtain, so in effect a 1.75 edge of curtain fabric on either side once the lining is sewn in and the curtain fabric is drawn to the back to create the edge. Surely then the only way to get a properly mitered corner is if the lining is cut only 1.75 inches shorter than the curtain fabric, rather than the 3 inches you mentioned? That is the only query I have. I really loved following your tutorial. Regards from South Africa 🇿🇦

    Hey All - not sure if I've missed something here but 5:34 if you hem the lining by 4 inches and also the curtain fabric by 4 inches then the two layers won't overlap (given the lining is trimmed by 3 inches before you start)... But in Debbie's video the lining overlaps the fabric at the end... Have I skipped a step? Thanks so much[

    I plan to use your video instructions to make some short cafe curtains for a small bathroom. I cannot find the drawstring-type pleater tape at any website here in the US. And, also, most of the pleater tapes here that are stiff and do not have the drawstrings are somewhat wide. I was considering a narrower heading since these curtains will not be long only about 18". Do you have recommendations on depth of tape for a short cafe curtain? I really appreciate your instructions and have subscribed. Thank you in advance!

    Thank you Debbie, this is such a helpful video and your explanation make it seem so straightforward. I am about to start sewing a curtain following your instructions and my project is actually a room divider which entails the need for a further curtain to be made facing the opposite direction, ie, back to back. Because the curtain(s) will hang from the same type of pole as used in your video, what would you suggest as a method of connecting the two curtains? Currently I’m thinking about using blackout lining, attached as per your video, to one curtain only, but having the header tape on each of the curtains connected by a double side hook. Would this be the best approach, do you think? Many thanks, Avril

  • @lauraboswell2142
    @lauraboswell2142 4 роки тому +1

    Debbie, great video but I am having trouble with the length of the lining. You cut the lining 3 inches shorter than the main curtain, and line the two fabrics up at the top. Yet on your video the finished lining hangs only 1-2 inches shorter than the finished curtain. My lining hangs too short, the bottom is level with the finished hem line on the main fabric. What am I missing? How deep should the lining hem be? On the video it says sew both hems to the same depth, 1'' then 3'' Thanks, Maggie
