Thank you so much. Great tutorial explained simply, clearly and accurately for a beginner to understand. No useless waffle, no stupid music! Thank you again!!
Thank you, Debbie, I am not confident at sewing having only just taken up this hobby at the age of 69. I followed your very simple instructions for making this blind and I am absolutely thrilled with the result. This has given me much confidence I am now going to make the over arm sewing caddy and then on to a patchwork quilt.
What a fantastic tutorial! It’s so nice to watch a no nonsense video, where things are clearly explained & demonstrated with the bits you don’t need to see edited out! It’s great to have a video that gets straight to the tutorial without any waffle at the start and with no music too - thank you Debbie! I feel confident in trying my much delayed Roman blind project after watching your video :) honestly this is easily the best video for Roman blinds I’ve come across
Thank you for your tutorial. I am going to try this out and provide some feedback. It would be a great idea to list all the items needed to complete this project (shopping list) and get a closer view of some of the materials you are using so that it makes it easier to identify these items when shopping. Cannot wait to create my first Roman Blind :)
I recently washed my Roman blind and am having a nightmare trying to re-thread it. I've watched an unbelievable amount of videos and have gotten myself in a real mess! Your video makes perfect sense - the only one I've watched that does - so thank you so much and fingers crossed that I can re-hang my blind successfully.
This is the fourth blind I have made using this tutorial. Simple to follow, fantastic! Thank you! :) Making my daughter's seaside themed blind, she loves it!
I saved this video many many months ago and guess what, yet another perfect Debbie tutorial and I made one for my slim tallish window on the landing on my stairs to the upper level. And it came our perfectly. Thanx Debs!
Best RS tutorial I have watched yet. I probably won’t have to watch another because I will follow your design. Thank you very much, you’re quite lovely to watch and listen to. 👍🏻❤️
This is incredible. I have seen so many tutorials that are overly complicated, but this was so easy to follow and make myself. I am a novice sewer so thanks for this simple yet effective tutorial!
Thank you. We didn't have to hear about you became interested in Roman Blinds or what your family did last summer!!! I thought as a complete NOVICE that I could do this with you at the other end of my table. It was clear, relaxed (love your dog!) non patronising,. Thank you
I just love your choices of materials. It so easy to understand your directions. My daughter said that she is trying to make a cute hand bag. I asked if was Debbie Shore, and she was surprised that I knew without looking. I watch you all the time. I am getting back to my sewing after 40 yrs. It took me a long time, but I got my First Brand New Sewing. Machine.
Great video, thank you so much! I like how yours are done in such a way that they could be deconstructed enough to take them down and wash them and put them back up.
Wow! The very first tutorial I looked at and it was brilliant!! So easy to understand, I will start my blind as soon as I get the velcro! Love your furbaby too, hope he didn't bite the postie.
a great tutorial, this is my first attempt at a roman blind and a lot simpler way of adding the poles than other tutorials, great explanation, thank you
Thank you Debbie for all the reasons already mentioned :) Thanks to you I've just finished my first Roman Blind. I divided the fabric into equal thirds but was not so keen on the bottom third hanging down so added two more rings at the bottom, at the seam where the outer fabric is turned in. That fixed it. It now tucks under the other two folds when up. I didn't add another rod. I also sewed the tape onto the lining fabric before I hand sewed the two pieces together. I made my own tape the same as the lining fabric. I stopped short leaving 3cm at each end which I hand sewed onto the folded-over edge as I went round hand sewing the two pieces together. I used a plain fabric and didn't want the stitching to show. I couldn't find Roman Blind rods in the shops (NZ) but did find some fiberglass tent rods in our garage which were just right for size and weight. Very happy to recycle to them and even better than buying some! I'm really pleased with it. Next time, if there is one, I'll divide the fabric as you did. Thanks again, Joy.
Thank you Debbie, I had looked at written instructions, and got a bit confused, so thought never mind I won't bother, seeing this tutorial, everything now makes sense, feel I could do that, so much better to see and copy, will be making two blinds for bathroom and loo, thanks for your wonderful tutorials.
Thanks for that, a really straight forward, easy to use tutorial. Very clear and no unnecessary rambling, loved watching your dog taking an interest :)
TY sew much Debbie for another great creative informative tutorial. I've wanted a Roman Blind for many years, however the cost was not in my budget. Now I can make my own AND have the colors I want in that room instead of what is offered at the stores. thanks again for leading us into our own design elements.
What an absolutely awesome video to watch and learn from. You did such a fantastic job, in explaining everything. I really did not know how to make Roman Blinds. I really want to try making our blinds. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all to us.
Thank you so much for this video. I have been "making" Roman Blinds for my houses over the last 20 years and each time I do them differently as they never turned out quite right, well now I don't have to as this works perfectly ! I have made two blinds in the last 3 days, one small and one 4 ft wide and they both look amazing. Love the doggy too :)
I'm tempted to give this a try. I've looked online and they charge quite a lot of money for a 'learn to sew' these types of blinds. I love your top too, I'm looking for sewing patterns for blouses at the moment and it's the very same style that I'm looking for. It's such a classic shape. The blind looks amazing x
I'm watching, have my material, but need a few extra things! I'll let you know how mine turns out! Great tutorial on how to do this Roman Shade! I've looked at so many and they just did not help me so I'm so happy with this! Can't wait to finish mine! Thanks again Debbie
I wanted to say this is the best tutorial I found and I made 4 blinds so far. I appreciate the way you made it so easy and described so well how to do this. I love your dog too, I am sure she? was very helpful too :)
You're a gem Debbie. Thank you so much. I have 7 windows to "curtain" and I really wanted to do Roman blinds. Your tutorial is SO easy and down to earth. It's really hard to find any roman blind kit nowadays, but I now have an arsenal of a list and I know I'll find everything I need. Thanks so much again!!! I can't wait to get going on this! :)
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT video, thank you so, so much. I did soft furnishings 30 years ago and just needed a refresher and this was 10/10. You choose the perfect window to demonstrate, camera ALWAYS pointed in correct position and very clear instructions and reasons. SUPERB thank you 🙏👏👏👏👏👍❤️
Debbie, thank you so much for this. I have always wanted to be able to make these and now I know how. You are so good at explaining things to make them easy to understand!! Love, love love your videos.....and your dog lol.
Thank you for your clear and detailed instructions. I've been making my own window treatments for many years but always appreciate a refresher course before doing a project I haven't done in a while.
This is fantastic. Thank you. I can't understand why some people have disliked this? You're very clear and this method is very easy to follow. Tonight you've saved me $210.00 for just one roman blind from a retailer here in NZ. I will definitely be attempting this for four of my windows at home ❤
yes! she has the best video I've seen! I've looked at a lot! They were either not good, to much, and one lady didn't even finish the video! So yes Thanks Debbie!
Ms. Shore, Thanks for your easy to understand video, I am in the process of making Roman shades for my living room and found your tutorial very helpful and easy to follow- plus your presentation was very pleasant to listen to. Thanks for taking the time to show how it's done - Mr. Perkins
Very nice you explained everything clearly and simple and easy to follow through and I love how your dog sits so quietly in the chair listening so cute👍
Best Tutorial ever. Moving home soon and will definitely follow this video to make a blind. Know exactly which room to make this blind for first. Your calm approach gives me confidence to give it a go. And in Imperial too. Bliss. Have subscribed as I would imagine I will view many of your vids. Thanks again. Love the dog.....and the fact theres no distracting background music!:-) x
Fab tutorial Debbie, many thanks for making the job relatively easy for me. I’ve now made two roller blinds, one for the kitchen door (with blackout lining) and one for our bathroom window. Both made from curtains I bought at a charity shop. X
I have moved into a place that will need more than 10 blinds. The windows are UVVC, mostly. I will be using black out lining and utilizing some of the existing blinds by reusing the rods etc. Your video is extremely helpful for me.
Thank you Debbie for this fabulous easy to follow tutorial. You're a very clear communicator and the instructions are step by step. I will be use your video this week to tackle two roman blinds i have put off for over a year! Thank you so much. And hello from NZ.
Watching from Australia. Thank you for the inspiration and guidance. I had never attempted any home decor, just a little simple sewing. I have just finished a much larger roman blind for my daughter's room, and your tutorial was particularly helpful as I used blackout fabric, so needed to construct the rod pockets on the reverse with cotton tape. I must say collecting the materials needed was a challenge, but I know my craft and hardware stores a little better now. All set to do my son's window. Maybe I can work my way around all the windows! All up much less expensive than getting a professional decorator. And more fun! Thank you!!
This was such a helpful and straightforward tutorial. Thank you. The great part about it is you can make so many different fabric designs and use different ones and pop them on the Velcro slab if you'd like. I think this will be a great project for me to start.
I really don't know why I bother watching other sewing tutorials on UA-cam. Debbie Shore, you sure know your stuff! You explain everything in such a way that a novice, such as myself, can understand. Thank you. You are truly amazing. ❤️
