    @Robert Halter I have the same tiller, a 2021, I fish all big water, Winnebago, Green Bay, Bay De Noc, I've fished in 4 footers all day. Its more than I could have hoped for. It has that big boat feel, you are "in it" not on top of it. If I could do it over again, I would still be in a Recon. Pictures don't do these boats justice, so very nice review Chas.

      Thanks so much!! I am really glad that you enjoyed the review... I continue to be very impressed with the 895T. Just an awesome fishing platform and they can handle some rough water too. The 90 is also plenty of power and speed for what I do.

    Looks cool, Chas! The other issue with port side electronics mounts for a tiller is that they tend to crowd the rear casting deck. Is that an Ultrex on the bow? It had crazy-fast response from your pedal input.

    Chas, Great review. I have a couple of questions:
    1. The "Wallet" compartment, does it have a gasket? I'm thinking of times when you might get water in the back of the boat from a rogue wave, stopping too fast, not having the bilge on when parked at the dock with an overnight massive rain. (I may or may not have been party to all of these events at some point in my life).
    2. What is the Cruising speed, or the speed it takes to keep it on plane?
    I love the room for the actual length of the boat, it fishes bigger than it is, which makes it more towable for certain vehicles and most likely more fuel-efficient when towing, and easier to maneuver in your garage or driveway.
    When moving away from a console and going to a tiller if someone isn't sitting in front of you, (maybe Chivalry is dead, LOL) how is the wind or snow in your face on a late fall day?
    Thanks!

    • @MuskyMastery
      @MuskyMastery  2 роки тому

      Kevin thanks so much for the detailed questions!
      1) yes, the wallet compartment has a gasket seal and I have had good success with items staying dry in the compartment under nasty conditions. It locks as well.
      2). The cruising speed (up on plane at lowest RPM) is around 18 mph. It would be safe to say that, fully loaded, you can comfortably cruise at 20 mph.
      3). To answer this question I always approach it with the idea of “trade-off’s.” There are things the console offers that the tiller does not and vice versa. I prefer a tiller for many reasons most notably: the pin-point steering ability for trolling and the extra space in the boat without the console. Of course, in the tiller there is no windshield but this doesn’t bother me. It is the tiller way of life. In the late season for long distance driving I will either use ski goggles or (and I really like this…) I use my snowmobile helmet!
      There are many unique benefits the tiller provides. Feel free to throw more questions my way any time!

    • @MuskyMastery
      @MuskyMastery  2 роки тому

      Robert, I have had my 895T out in some pretty nasty stuff. It handled 2 footers with good control and I was comfortable. The hull is deep and the boat is solid and cut through the waves easily. Thanks for the comment and please reach out with any other questions.

    Chas, could you comment on your battery configuration in your new rig and how your graphics are hooked up? … I am looking for battery count and exactly what is hooked up to what … I very much appreciate your input …

    • @MuskyMastery
      @MuskyMastery  2 роки тому

      Hey Musky Fever! Great question!… so there are three batteries in series hidden in a special compartment under the rod locker (in a central location) to make 36 volts for the bow trolling motor. There are two deep cycle batteries in the stern (starboard side). One of these batteries runs both Helix 10’s and starts the Merc. The second is really cool because it’s only job is to be a backup / safety. It always gets charged and it’s purpose is to start my outboard in the case that all of the other batteries die for some reason.

      @@MuskyMastery I have an 895T on order, so very interested in this topic. Current configuration is 24V Ultrex, two 12" and one 10" Helix finders, one Talon, and 4-bank Minn Kota charger. My plan as of now is to have a dedicated deep cycle battery run the Talon and electronics (plus lights and live wells too if possible) and a starting battery that would just start the big motor. So my questions would be:
      1. Any thoughts on whether I should try to upgrade to 36V Ultrex?
      2. With 4-bank charger and 5 batteries, how do you charge your backup battery?
      3. Have you had to use backup battery, or does 90 HP recharge the deep cycle you use for starting the big motor enough throughout the day as you run around?
      4. Curious why you decided to go with backup battery versus having that 5th battery run electronics?
      5. Why deep cycle battery for starting your big motor?
      Any insights greatly appreciated. Thanks Chas. Love your channel.

    • @MuskyMastery
      @MuskyMastery  4 місяці тому

      John can customize anything for you. But, the only guys I know that consistently use their livewell for muskies are the Great Lakes trolling guides that revive muskies in the livewell while keeping many lines tangle free as they keep moving. I personally have used my livewell to help revive a musky only two or three times in two decades. Pretty rare for me.

      I have a 90 Yamaha SHO on my 895T, I'm running a 17 alum and I hit the rev limiter 41 times this last year. I'm looking to put on a 4 blade or bump to a 19 3 blade. Not sure yet. I'm most concerned about hole shot and these boats pop out QUICK, quicker than my other tillers that were aluminum. So either option I go with, I don't think i'm gonna lose that much. these boats pop out of the hole fast w a 90. If I had the option (USCG max 90) to do a 115 or 125, I wouldn't do it . These 90's move this thing. I know John says 17 pitch on the aluminum. That's for a Merc tho.
