love this game, it was my first DQ too. The upcoming game Octopath Traveller seems similar to it in the way you play as different characters, then (presumably) they will all come together later on.
Dragon Warrior IV on NES was the first RPG I ever played as a kid and it holds a special place in my heart. I actually prefer the NES version over the DS version personally but I can see why others would disagree.
The game footage honestly looks great for camera footage. Kudos my man. This is an impressive quality review.

I wish they would remake the Dragon quest series on PlayStation 4. Put out a one or two disk set with all of them in it. It ll sell like crazy . Everyone wants the remakes. Especially since they dropped the ball with 5 6 and 7 went to Ps1 and wasn't properly made. We didn't see success till 8

4 might be my favourite in the series. Pretty solid game.

Been replaying this game on mobile with party chat and its a blast.
DQIV on DS was the first mainline DQ I finished. I'd played the 1st and 3rd games on nes and gameboy as well as ~50hrs of DQ8 before but there's something about the accessibility of those ds entries that works perfectly. Really enjoy the monsters series games on DS and rocket slime is incredibly charming.

Man I played a lot this game when I was a kid but I was stuck in the first chapter because I never figured out how to access to the island
The Dragon Warrior/Quest series is my Fave! Just got this for my 3DS XL
And I'll stick by what I said in your other video. The mobile ports have party talk. If this version had that the DS would hands down be the best version. Unfortunately the localization team decided to cut corners with costs (maybe, who knows?) and exclude it. I'm glad they put it back in the mobile ports.
I personally don't like gaming on mobile, which is why I stick with this version, but yes it's unfortunate that was cut from this game.
Oh I understand completely as I hate touch controls. I recently played the game on my PC using the Bluestacks emulator and Joy2Key so I was able to jerry -rig the game to sort of support my PS4 controller. Still needed the mouse for some stuff like battles but it's certainly better than the alternative.
Just finished it! Man it was pretty damn epic! Definitely the best out of 1-4. Looking forward to trying 5 next. That final boss was lengthy! Good thing I grinded like crazy before it :D

As one of the relatively few that played through the original release back when it come out, I'm kind of torn on the extra chapter. More content is more content, but it really does divest Rosa and Psaro's tragic story of all its pathos.

I'd like to say how much I like your reviews. I watched the whole thing and seeing/learning some of the other info you wouldn't hear anywhere else makes me love it. I appreciate your love for the game series, but I also like you don't hold back from saying if your not too fond of feature or such. But like me, you find there is very little to these games that there isn't to love. It was your review of DQ7 that compelled me to buy it and it was a Great decision. It is literally one of the Best remasters I've ever played, like not just among DQ games but remasters in general Ever. The graphics, kind of staying true to 1st person fights, but also being able to see your characters, the 3d-ish nature of the map. Monsters on the map rather than random encounters... But many places having no choice but to fight. I would LOVE Beyond Anything to see them take the graphics of 7 and apply them to remasters of All previous games 1-6.
Having said that, I gotta say this remake looks Great!!!!! I was one of the rare people who played this on the Nes. My Dad and I being fans of the turn based style genre in the Nes, and Snes days. So we played FF 1-3, not until much later learning we played FF1, and 4,6. Aside from that we also played Dragon Warrior 1,2,3, and 4. I LOVED 4, It was crazy the map kind of looked like Earth, thought that was a really nice touch. Seeing this remaster, is once again making me consider having to play DQ4 again. The system and graphics look Fantastic, and reliving the story and characters again is Very Tempting.
Anyway Once again I very much appreciate the review, and hope to see 'em coming with other games, of which I Very Much hope we get more.

@@ProjectCOE lol yeah was kinda long.... I just picked up DQ5 for the ds, am barely 2 hours in and Loving it. 5 would've been the first in the series I missed. So now having tried, but not completed 5 and 7, I can say I've Loved the easy majority of DQ games... which is Awesome!!!
@@MjolnirsPower I'm glad to hear that. Honestly this is my favorite series and for good reason, the games are just incredible.
The only thing that the DS version doesn't have that the phone version has is party chat, and I so badly want that.
Also, Alena, Kiryl, and Psaro are my favorites, with Taloon, Maya, Meena, are also awesome characters. So I missed not having party chat.
Well in fact, you can play the ds version in your phone, emulation, it's ok if you already have the original copy, right?...
You can download it off the internet without owning it yourself, though I don't endorse piracy. It also has an official iOS port.

Project COE yeah I've played and beat all the dq games. I gotta say 4 is the best in my opinion the story the music everything beautiful

I loved the nes version I beat that one first. it was alot harder when you did not have a inf. bag of holding you had to store your items at a bank or sell them if you ran out in space.
Oh yes I remember those days. Was much more complicated back then.
I thought it was easier, even with Cristo's AI being awful. Alena was OP, and Mara was better with magic than I ever could be. Also, Ragnar was a brilliant tank.
I do not mean to complain and I think reviews are great but you need to work better on choosing the footage you are going to use for your videos as most of it was from post game and clearly shows the character you did not want spoil as a member of your party and you even outed his name during your synopsis giving a clear spoiler to anyone paying enough attention.
I'll wait until I finish my playthrough before I watch to avoid any spoilers.10 hours in right now.

Holy crap, I can’t believe how much people are asking for on eBay for the ds. I’m glad I bought it when it came out.
No kidding. I managed to buy a used Russian copy (plays in English) for just under $90. The fact that that is a steal now is... insane. But what are ya gonna do? Ha! At least I can play it on my 2DS XL now. :)
I just scored a complete in box copy for $80 with no bids on ebay. And that is considered a "score" with these prices. When I get around to buying V to complete my collection, I'll probably need to take out a damn loan (kidding lolz)
This game is pretty good and unlike other famous DQ games, I like the game ending when the hero revisits his town and imagines that nothing has changed. I think this game, they started to implement hero's marriage and all.
Addendum :- Have you tried out DQ 1-3? The english on those games is so weird. It's like those Shakespeare type of english. I couldn't understand half the words they were saying.

Honestly, I have played every single Dragon Quest game. Spinoff and main series, and I have to say, unpopular opinion or not that Dragon Quest IV is my least favourite game. The worst part of Dragon quest games has always been for me to get started, and in this game you have to do that for almost half of the game multiple times. Some of the chapters are not even that great, and it is also pretty easy to get lost and not figure out what the game wants you to do next. And if you counter this opinion by saying that it is an old game, why then did Dragon Quest 3 do everything in regards to my complaints so much better, with that game being my second favourite entry only behind XI. I want to like this game, I am searching for its greatness but I cannot help to feel that this is one of the most overrated JRPG:s of all time in my opinion
It is a bit annoying that you basically have to "start from scratch" 5 times but it usually doesn't take that long to get things going each time

dude, come on. I get that you don't have the views to justify a 3DS capture card, and thats perfectly fine, but for regular DS games you could just download desmume, get yourself a DQ IV ROM and use some PC footage recording software to give us better quality footage to watch than you recording your DS screen with a camera.
I think he wanted to showcase different areas of the game and didn't feel like putting 20 hours into a rom. We have some ds reviews that use rom footage like aliens infestation and zombie bbq.
