Jewel cases are better than the DVD/Blu-ray style cases we have today imo. There’s just a certain charm to them.

@Vegesther Thankfully the DS version of DQ4 is actually a port of the PSX version...
With the Party Chat removed due to incomplete translation...
That was completed in the Mobile Port THANK GOD...
But then Apps can't be moved to SD and nowadays any phone with 16gb or less is literally always about to fill.

I dunno, man. I vastly prefer dvd cases to jewel cases. Cd cases easily crack and break as well as cut your hand in the wrong circumstances. I also prefer full sized (Xbox era) manuals to cd sizes manuals.
I think mgs2 was the last beefy, meaningful manual I ever used. That or Morrowind.

Really enjoyed playing the PS1 version when it came out and also had the strategy guide as well. I was bummed at the time that Dragon Warrior IV didn't release since that was my favorite one from the series at the time.

Over the past cpl years I've collected nearly all of the Dragon Quest games on 3DS, Switch, and PS4. Growing up I never gave the series a chance, now I find myself immersed in it thinking "ALL THE WASTED YEARS!"
Johnny & Kim I appreciate all of the reviews the two of you have made over the years. You've been a big part of why I initially decided to dive into the DQ world. It's hard not to vibe off all your enthusiasm!

I did the same but I felt lucky not having to wait the years and sometimes huge let downs the poor up to date fans did! Getting region locked from your fav RPG has to be one of the nine circle's of torment. Dante just misunderstood what he was experiencing being from another time and all

This is such a coincidence! I've been playing this game slowly on 3DS since August for the first time and it's becoming one of my favorite Dragon Quest games. Yes, it's really long, but I like how I can play one self-contained section every week or so while I play other stuff, kind of like tuning into my new favorite show when a new episode airs.
It's also just such a welcoming game! When you save a town, they throw you a party, there's food abound--the game just wants you to hang out and have a good time. It's the friendliest game I've played in a long time. I really love it, and I'm glad you guys celebrated it for its 20th year anniversary

Wow! I can't believe it's been 20 years! I picked it up 20 years ago and loved it, and of course I got the remake on 3ds on day 1. I will say though when I played the 3ds version, despite all the quality of life improvements, I still found myself feeling that I wish I could switch to the original look. It was for sure nostalgia, but that PS1 look has a special place in my heart.

Dragon warrior 7 is the only Dragon warrior game I completed. It was also the longest game I have ever played just to get through the story. I think it took me about 215 hours to get the side questions and extra things I wanted. It had the longest intro before you actually got into your first battle. I only played it on the 3DS and it was my second Dragon Quest game that I finished. Yeah, it drags on a bit but I still remember it fondly. The thing about Dragon Quest VII is that it's not about the main story but rather the smaller ones. The lives that the protagonists interact with and change along the way, those are the ones that shine. It's a different kind of JRPG and maybe because of that is one which pops into my head from time to time. I really liked it. Heck, I think the more time passes, the more I understand how much I enjoyed it.

Dragon Quest 8 was the first game i played, as it was the first game in the series, that came out in Europe, though i've never completed the game. I recently bought DQ11: Definitive Edition S for PS4

I love dragon quest vii, possibly my favorite of the series. Kim is a queen. Johnny is a lucky man.

I just played DW7 on ps1 for the first time these past several weeks and beat it a couple days ago. I reviewed it on my channel and gave it a 9.5 out of ten. I loved it.

One game very near and dear to my heart. I was 20-21 when this game came out. I was getting really sick of modern RPGs and this literally scratched every itch I had. The way Enix teased it back in the day….you went to their website and they had a single image of Estard island for quite a long time hinting they were working on it. Hype was huge! We won’t talk about the ad in the back of the instruction manual……

Wow I had no clue that this year was the 20th anniversary of DQVII. The irony is that I'm actually replaying the 3DS remake right now. Its a Master-Piece.

I still remember I spent over 120+ hrs on this game to beat it back in 2014 as my backlog goes. I couldn't realize at that time "DQ Warrior VII" as one of the Dragon Quest saga series!

I love how detailed they made the culture of every single island. They each have their own sufficiently developed religion and local dialect.

A Happy Console Gamer Dragon Quest video! I love these so much! I'm nearing the end of VIII and was thinking of playing VII after (going in reverse I know). My heart broke when I heard the news that mr Sugiyama passed.. Today I did a small tribute on my channel for him. It's not perfect but from the heart, some of you might like it. Awesome video as usual!! Cheers!

This was my first Dragon Quest. I bought it on PS1 after reading how big the series was in Japan. I bounced off of it really hard. At the time I couldn't get past not seeing my characters on the combat screens. I tried for a while but gave up. I keep meaning to go back.
