People have to cut Rudy some slack. He's not a fighter he's a mage. There is an entire battle system that hasn't been explained in the anime. It's called battle aura. It basically is a physical enhancement to the body which gives you superhuman feats and reflexes. Rudy doesn't have this. Only his trained muscles and normal human reflexes. In the LN he literally couldn't see far enough into the future to tell what the hydra was doing because it was so fast. And even when he could it was only like 1 second, which is nothing. Doesn't matter if you can see it if you can't dodge it. Yet alone warn people in time for them to react as well. He had to be point blank in order to hurt it with magic. Basically at 10% HP the hydra went off script and started using its stumped limbs to attack, which Rudy had to focus on which made him lose track of the normal head. The limbs also kept Talhand and Elise busy as they had to protect themselves and Roxy. Also, Paul could cut the hydra because he had a legendary sword that gets sharper the tougher the object basically is.
@@josemiwey he is incredibly power, but sort of a glass cannon. At least for now. But even a skilled gunman loses to a knife at close range. Just because he's not a fighter doesn't make him weak. A party has roles to fill.
@@josemiwey the hydra has basically anti magic. Rudy isn't technically a glass cannon, since by definition, a glass cannon is all fire power with very low defense. Rudy is fragile like glass but is very capable of defending himself in most cases

Some LN Extra Details (Volume 12 Chapter 8-10 (partial)) - Elinalise lends mana imbued crystals to Roxy and Rudy incase they needed to recover their mana. - Hydra is a type of dragon. It was varied by colors of white, gray and gold in Demon Continent, but they never saw a green type before. - Roxy said it is a Manatite Hydra that absorbs mana. It was spotted during the second Great Human-Demon War. It was last heard to be slain before the continent split apart. - They cremated Paul's body there to prevent it from being zombified even though Rudy was conflicted by it. He had hoped to bring some part of him back as a proof to his family, but none is left - Paul only left 3 things, the metal breastplate that protected his torso, the magic sword and his favourite sword. - A lot of thinking and reminiscing when Rudy was at the inn. He wonders what Paul is actually thinking seeing his final face in his death, and what is he actually trying to say beforehand (Maybe we will see that more in next episode) - Rudy had hoped that he could celebrate and then grief together with Zenith once she woke up, but he was truly depressed to see her condition and knowing that he had lost both of them. Differences from LN - Part of chapter 10 is shortened after they saved Zenith Self Note - This is one of the moment i felt empty when i read the LN. It was double whammy hit on me with Paul's death and Zenith condition that also double broke Rudy's heart. - The CD audio drama version is also very sad on this moment, where we could also heard Paul's POV before his death. (Although not sure if this is canon) - Knew it the moment they delayed episode 19 last month, because they want to release this episode on father's day?
Its crazy how this anime is able to drop bomb shells like this and have them hit every time. Just when you think things are sweet everything takes a 180. Paul was written so well, felt like a real person with flaws and a redeemable side. Sucks to see him go
Episode Title: Parents Premiere date: Fathers day Rudy lost his left hand Paul lost his life Zenith is in a vegetative state Father's day is not great for Rudeus
Worst day/week of Rudeus in this world with his father dying trying to save him, but despite that they still won the fight and saved Zenith just for her to wake up in a vegetable state unable to speak. That is heavy.
Honestly I can't blame them centaurs are way more main stream imo, besides if you showed someone a picture of a hydra they'd just assume it's a dragon with multiple heads kinda like how people assume wyverns are dragons which makes sense they are all draconic. Even mushoku tensei translations can't decide if it's red wyvern or red dragon mountains. Personally the only reason I know what a hydra is is because I play MTG not many IPs have hydras or at least address them as such that I can think of anyway.
@ Everyone knows about the creature that regrows more heads when its heads are cut. It’s a cliche most people can call out when the main character cuts the hydra’s head off thinking they killed it. A lot of people have seen Hercules.
@@williamhardee8863 I've seen Hercules like once or twice as a kid. Tbh I didn't even remember it was a hydra specifically he killed until I read mushoku tensei. To be frank you kinda have an unrealistic standard for peoples knowledge of mythology. It's like saying hippogriff are well known because one was in Harry Potter but most people I've met that aren't into Harry Potter always assumes it's a griffin.
Alright, lets get one thing straight. Silphy knows who the fuck she married. Something missing from the LN is the internal narration, so polygamy is allowed in this world and Silphy knows Rudy is a horn dog. She knew going in Rudy gonna be Rudy.
Though I think she'd like to get an idea of the person first seeing how she felt uncomfortable with Nanahoshi having a bond with Rudy at first. Best case scenario is that Rudy bring home the girl before doing something with them. If not, it's still a cheating situation where she didn't know of the specific situation in advance.

He’s one of the most relatable characters in anime. Dude was just human. Capable of flaws and sin but strived to do his best
