Right? So much crying in Anime doesn't hit for me, unless they do a decent job and the music hits. Like she said the music can be more impactful than the visuals, and the combination of the VA and everything in this episode just hit it out of the park. The Dub is decent but the sub was just much better for me personally.
That crying was so goddamn realistic, it's EXACTLY like a person would cry and speak at the same time in real life. I can't imagine the VA didn't actually cry himself during recording.
Btw just in case you or anyone is wondering, Paul didn't cheat with any women after the teleportation disaster. It was one of the reasons why he got so mad when Rudy alluded to him cheating with Viera. That and it was disrespectful to Viera who was very helpful to his search and rescue team because he didn't know well how to deal with women with trauma, and Veera helped him a lot of with that.
Reading comments from time to time, I feel the anime sometimes fails the source material. I get that there are different approaches and time limits and everything, but it sucks a bit. (Like the girl with not many clothes do it on purpose to take away attention from the other girl)
Another thing to add is Vierra apologized to Paul for dressing scantily, thinking its what caused Rudy to think that he was cheating. The reason for her dressing that way is because she and her sister Shierra (the shy mage) were also victims of the teleportation incident and became sex slaves. Her sister never got over the trauma and cowers in fear when men look at her, so to keep men from looking at her sister, she dresses up as a bikini warrior. She purposely humiliates herself just so her sister doesn't feel terrified. Paul knew all of this and was even more pissed at Rudy for making that comment in the first place.
@@sqxbarto9229its unavoidable. From what I heard, the author Rifujin works closely with Studio Bind to make sure the adaptation is as faithful as it can be. I recommend reading the books, a lot of small details get glossed over in the anime such as POVs. For example Sylphie's POV when she saw Paul throw Rudy into a horse carriage, she got so protective and almost killed Paul with a very dangerous spell.
The most impactful thing to me in this episode was watching all his journey, I want to point out one subtle detail; Despite how Paul looks this episode, take a good look at Norn. See how cute she looks? Well dressed, clean, in good health? Despite the struggle hes going through, you can see that Paul treated her well. Just like an amazing father would do.
The last episode was when I realized how much these characters had grown on me. The wait was killing me to see what happens to the troubled Rudeus, wether they will resolve their argument before leaving and can Eris and Ruijerd help Rudeus. Imagine being Paul. Your family went all missing. Carrying your daughter through all dangers like kidnappers, hungers, diseases,... Keeping her clean and well fed while fending off the enemies, making money, finding other members. He may be a trash person, but even Trash will find a way to be useful.
Nah, this is the episode where i understood the core theme of Mushoku Tensei the most: Redemption. Take Paul, this is a man who is known as a womaniser, who people know as scum, but when he has a child he really tries his best to be a father. He tried to be a positive role model for Rudy, that strength should be used to protect, but he slips up every now and again mostly because Rudy teases it out of him, but you can see him trying. The thing with him cheating on Zenith with Lilia is kind of scuffed in the anime because when Lilia said she was the one who seduced him, it shows an old fashioned way to seduce somebody that makes it seem like it was still all on Paul. The light novel doesn't say how she seduced him, simply that she couldnt contain herself. But Paul did cheat, and nearly destroyed the family because of it. When Aisha and Norn were born we get silly scenes of him pulling faces but those show just how much he loves and cares for them. And finally after the mana disaster, despite the two hellish years he went through, he protected and cared for norn, even though he himself was drowning himself in alcohol. Paul has problems, he has flaws, but he is just somebody trying to be a great father to his children, and wants to do the best he can. He isnt irredeemable. The same applies to almost every character in the show. Eris starts off aggressive and violent but really comes into her own during the adventure. Ghilslane has already completed her journey of redemption, she started off just like Eris This isna series about how people can be redeemed, and the star of that story, is Rudy. Somebody who has so many vile aspects about himself, he is quite literally a P3d0. But over time he gets better at maintaining his urges, and despite him not having his character arc in the show yet.
Just some bit of info that wasn't shown in the anime. Paul sorta stole that horse in the beginning. It was an act of desperation as he and Norn needed to get back asap. Also I agree with you we gotta hand it to Paul for taking care of Norn. You can see Norn is clean, in good health, and well dressed despite Paul obviously being in depression. Also in the novel, Rudy also cried in that hugging scene with Paul. I wish they showed that in the anime.

This episode really warms your heart after watching the previous episode. The thing about this episode is that it goes to show how much character growth has happened. Rudeus has gone from a troubled past life to getting back on to his feet and starting to move forward towards being a better person. He stagnated in his previous life due to a very traumatic experience. He might be a perv and do the wrong things at times but that's what him a good character. Another detail to note is if you look at Norn throughout the flashback you'll see she's always clean and relatively happy. Paul did everything in his power to keep his daughter safe and as happy as possible.
One thing no one ever points out in this episode that the VERY first thing Paul did after being teleported was try to rush home, so fast that he broke guild rules, didn't deliver an emergency letter he had taken on the quest to deliver (who knows how many people died because he didn't get it where it needed to go) which is how he got a horse, ended up getting Norn sick because he was pushing her too hard, and taking 2 months to get there even though he was teleported only one month away. Paul didn't do ANY searching or anything else until he first got home. He shouldn't expect Rudy to do otherwise.
Most of the characters we know were super lucky. Some people got teleported 10 miles in the sky or under the ocean. Others got teleported to the center of a volcano or in the middle of a Red Wyrm nest.
For more context Paul at all times carries his sword and a gold asura coin in case of an emergency. The way Paul got a horse was through the adventures guild. I wish it didn't skip out on the little scenes in the manga where Paul reflects on the fear and discomfort on Rudy's face or just the little details the ln/wn goes into
In the Light Novel, Rudeus actually cried when he made up with Paul. This is one aspect I don't like that much about the adaptation, Rudeus actually shows emotions a lot more in the LN, but I get why they made the change in the anime. You'll see what I am talking about later.
Rudeus cried here as well , It just showed the facial expressions right before he cried, implying he did.Obviously they’ll “show”more emotions in a LN , they’re different mediums.
Me too, I am afraid that they will not be able to fleshed out the sences after the Teleportation Labyrinth. It hit really hard with Rudeus's monologue. I thought he almost went mad.
A few facts left out in the anime: the Dream of Rudy being hurt coming to him, Paul had that way before seing him again and the entire family was in it. Also about the mana disaster, the effect were similar to magical traps in dungeons Pau fell into when he was an adventurer. He understood that the reason why he was teleported with his daughter was because he was holding her when that happened. Meaning that if none of the others were doing the same when they got hit, they are alone , that incluse sylphy and the other daughter. In order to save his family Paul saved a thousand of people and made himself ennemy lot of noble families
@@Sulfat_lol nah, honestly in reality no one hates him to the point that they despise him, after all Paul is a reliable person that will come yo your aide whenever you ask him to, he's way better than most nobles and official persons, he's scum but he's trying his best to become a good father, he's not a good role model but he's trying to be at least a good father figure. There's just a certain reason why he's hated by his own party members but even then they are still helping in the search of his family
Now that you are this deep into the show... How do you feel about it? In the beginning, you seemed to force your self to watch and now you seem invested. Has it taken you by surprise and do you understand why your friend suggested the show for you?

"The song is doing more than the actual imagery" It's the organs. Whenever I hear the song, I get this feeling of profound safety. I can scarcely listen to it without tearing up. The composer understands liturgical music.
I find it fascinating how this story keeps giving us characters who we would dislike as people and showing their nuances and depth. Yeah there's a time and a place for perfect characters like Mob and Tanjiro, but I give a lot more value to characters like Paul Greyrat.
Sweeeet, wasn't sure we'd get one today! Thanks, can't wait until you get to 21. That episode is one of my favorites. Also Paul's VA is INCREDIBLE, the music and his acting made that scene where most crying scenes in Anime or even a lot of movies come off as flat for me. I get emotional every time I see it and even did during this reaction. Geese(and the Bartender too) is definitely the MVP of this episode. So glad Paul got on the right path and didn't stay wallowing in alcohol, we know that would only make it worse for him.
Geese one of the best bros you could ask for. Mans helped his friend reconcile with his son and has been venturing out to look for his friends family risking his life 💯
15:15 - the girl in the bikini armor is wearing that kind of outfit to attract attention - or rather: To draw attention away from her sister - the shy looking girl next to her. She wants to protct her that way. Thought I'd mention it since the anime doesn't bother telling us that detail. And I must admit it is working. You barely notice her next to a babe like that. Must be one of the better reasons a show had for giving a girl a bikini armor. That being said: This is the 2nd saddest episode in the series T_T
Geese dropping truth bombs like candies. Also i like how to rudy paul is not a father figure, he can never be that, he's a friend, that's why the friend flashback.
About the two girls, what was mentioend in the light novel, but left out in the anime from what I read myself in the UA-cam comments : Vierra and Shierra got teleported enslaved and raped. Shierra the one with the magic cloak got a trauma from it, which is why she's covering her whoile body because she is very uncomfortable with men looking at her after what happend and can't just talk to men. Vierra the half naked one does wear this to attract all look from men, so no one would need to look at her sister. So she does this to protect her sister. Which is why don't think that Paul forced her to wear it and that he has cheated on Zenith while the 1 1/2 year or something. Ma man stayed clean
But is he really have a mind of an adult tho? Stay lock inside for nearly 20 years and never go out and experience nothing in his previous life🤔. He sometimes act like a child too
While true that Rudy is indeed mentally an adult, the fact remains that Rudy is in the body of an 11 year old child. He has had like 8 years of training tops. This is a world where some beings grow to be hundreds of years old with centuries of combat experience and training. At least in this case, where Geese is excusing Rudy for being a child, I don't think he's referring to his mental maturity but his physical capabilities.
nope rudy is not mentally an adult, our mentality is determined by brain patterns and neurons he is 100% mentally a 12 year old. memories do not dictate mentality
@@houseofaction Exactly. I detest the false equivalency that reactors make with the whole "bUt hEs aN aDuLt 35+" the only thing that carried over are *memories* from his past life. Physiologically, physically, hormone wise, and if we were to dissect Rudy's brain, he would still be an 11 year old child! Memories =/= mentality.
I do like the dub’s version of what Rujerd said to Paul much better. He says something more like: “You may have your grievances, but those only matter because your son is alive to hear them”. The intention of his words is clearer.
I'm writing this text through google translator, so if there are any mistakes, sorry. paul is teleported to a place he knew, the horse he gets and uses to travel is from an adventurer's guild near his teleportation location, which for being an S rank adventurer, is granted some privileges such as the free horse for transport. that girl who wears very little clothes, does it because she and the magician girl were bought as slaves by the same guy and were sexually abused by him, because of that the magician developed panic syndrome and always has crises in the presence of men and when they look at her, that's why her friend started to dress that way to attract all the attention wherever they went and make the mage more comfortable not having men stares at her.
They will as studio Bind was made to adapt the whole of mushokou tensei but yes I agree the story's main focus definitely is family (don't wanna say anymore because of major spoilers)
This is one of the episodes which I think is made way better than the corresponding part of the original LN. Kudos to the production team of the anime.
In his mind he is actually NOT an adult, he has the memories of his past life, but memories do not determine mentality, mentaliuty is determined by the brain in our sculls, mentally he is 11 almost 12.
I think it's good to think a bad person can have redeeming qualities. Or vice versa that a good person can have deplorable qualities. Life is rarely so black and white as fiction usually makes it out to be
February 2: Teddy hides under her desk to avoid the perviness. March 3: Teddy cries during Paul and Rudy's reconciliation. It's not just the characters who develop during Mushoku Tensei. It's the viewers too, as it develops from a good show with a bit too much ecchi to S-Rank.
If anyone would know, yeah Ruijerd would after all he killed and ate almost his entire family. BTW if you think I'm joking here, no, no I am not he was doing it until his eldest son managed to break his cursed spear and free his mind.

I wish it didn't skip out on the little scenes in the manga where Paul reflects on the fear and discomfort on Rudy's face or just the little details the ln/wn goes into
This episodes intro nearly brought me to tears too, the song is so good 😭
In the Light Novel, Rudeus actually cried when he made up with Paul.
I pretty sure he was on the verge of crying but not like cry out loud at least that is what I think ( also I read from web novel)
Me too, I am afraid that they will not be able to fleshed out the sences after the Teleportation Labyrinth. It hit really hard with Rudeus's monologue. I thought he almost went mad.
Sweeeet, wasn't sure we'd get one today! Thanks, can't wait until you get to 21. That episode is one of my favorites.
Ruijerd being so nice with kids, head-patting Corn made a lasting impression on her for sure :)
Yeah...
Also Rudy also stayed in town for a week and had awkward family dinner with Eris Paul and Norn. That was amusing. Norn hates Rudy and Eris hates Paul.
@@dragonnsv9710 guess who else hates paul? Pretty much all existence in that world I guess
@@slippy47 yea bro I love paul I was joking lol
Now that you are this deep into the show... How do you feel about it? In the beginning, you seemed to force your self to watch and now you seem invested. Has it taken you by surprise and do you understand why your friend suggested the show for you?
It's my fav anime I'm reading light novel now but i don't give u spoilers enjoy ur journey. 👍
The light novel is god tier
You'll love it 10 times more once you get to Volume 15 and further, it was an amazing experience holy shit
@@FirstnameLastname-gs3ow yep it's so fucking good, I can't wait till the anime catches up in like 10 years 😭
Maan the light novels are addicting....I barely managed to stop reading in order to study for finals lol. Can't wait to continue with the web novels after exams
@@Tochaa18501 I've read both the web novel and light novels twice now 😭 they're too good to just put down coz you wanna keep reading
Just wait until next season if this season made you guys emotional next one is gonna be a roller coaster
Yeah there's a time and a place for perfect characters like Mob and Tanjiro, but I give a lot more value to characters like Paul Greyrat.
no matter what version this scene always makes me tear up
I cried so hard in this episode...
i cried that whole episode through first time watching
Mans helped his friend reconcile with his son and has been venturing out to look for his friends family risking his life 💯
Thanks for the reaction Teddy, father daughter kinda my weakness too.
Damn.... that was the first time he called him "father" in his inner monologue
Geese was indeed the MVP in this episode, the second place was the shop guy who gave him milk
Mushoku tensei really does hit DIFF
This episode always hits you in the feels no matter how many times you watch it. 🥲 Damn I love mushoku tensei's writing
Geese! He's one of most impactful side character ever..
lol, 1 minute in and I'm already crying, just remembering the scene
Geese was another member of the fangs of the black wolf. Paul, Zenith, Ghislaine, Talhand, Elinalise, and Geese. We’ve met the full S rank party.
"Can you cry Rudeus? Damn"
Just wait...just...wait.
What breaks my heart as well is seeing Paul have aged alot after the disaster that Geese looks younger in comparison.
About the two girls, what was mentioend in the light novel, but left out in the anime from what I read myself in the UA-cam comments :
Vierra and Shierra got teleported enslaved and raped.
Every time man. This episode kills me every time. Father-son relationship troubles always get to me. 😭
Why am I seeing Old Man Rudeus when I saw Paul looking depressed. Damn this hit hard again.
Nice video i love this ep
We love you Teddy
Glad I'm not the only one who cried from the intro😭
Ruijerd to Paul be like:
"Your daughter calls me daddy too."
no spoilers.... at least have a warning.
@@Xantheus07 his comment sounded like a cheeky means of tearing Paul down rather than a spoiler. But now that you said something, I know otherwise
Geese is actually a member of Paul and Zenith's old party along with Tallhand, Elinalise and Ghislaine
But is he really have a mind of an adult tho? Stay lock inside for nearly 20 years and never go out and experience nothing in his previous life🤔. He sometimes act like a child too
It was an amazing reaction ❤
I appreciate your tears 😁😁
Such a great episode
Can't wait for the next episode 😥
Eris got the black eye from goblin hunting. Will be in a ova episode. Or special episode in a blu ray
You got to love Eris
15:03 this scene:
me that i'm aware of what will happen next: 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
ah yes, Luicelia, best girl
this name could be construed as spoilers, but so long as no context is given ever, we should be good
While true that Rudy is indeed mentally an adult, the fact remains that Rudy is in the body of an 11 year old child.
I think an ova of what eris did while rudeus met paul comes out this sunday
that bread do be caked up fr fr
I do like the dub’s version of what Rujerd said to Paul much better. He says something more like: “You may have your grievances, but those only matter because your son is alive to hear them”. The intention of his words is clearer.
Love ur reaction. ❤️❤️❤️
Imagine taking out a couple yeasr to help your friend. Geese....
Adults can be more emotional than kids sometimes 😅
Shoutout to Geese and the bartender
I'm writing this text through google translator, so if there are any mistakes, sorry. paul is teleported to a place he knew, the horse he gets and uses to travel is from an adventurer's guild near his teleportation location, which for being an S rank adventurer, is granted some privileges such as the free horse for transport. that girl who wears very little clothes, does it because she and the magician girl were bought as slaves by the same guy and were sexually abused by him, because of that the magician developed panic syndrome and always has crises in the presence of men and when they look at her, that's why her friend started to dress that way to attract all the attention wherever they went and make the mage more comfortable not having men stares at her.
i wish they finish this animes story.. very good story.. its about family.
They will as studio Bind was made to adapt the whole of mushokou tensei but yes I agree the story's main focus definitely is family (don't wanna say anymore because of major spoilers)
@@khizarhayat808 imagine after they finish the story they do a movie or 3 part ova of old dragon tales
@@God-ec8ni I wouldn't be surprised if they did, i swear they said they want it to be a long running series with lots of ova's and movies.
The possibilities are endless
Yea this show can have 4-5 season of 23-24 depending on how they adapt it.
Geese and Ruijard are true homies
11:34- Well, there is a big difference; your his son, he has to apologize to you.
I waited this episode because it's the best for me
Animation truly is Bread/10
This is one of the episodes which I think is made way better than the corresponding part of the original LN.
Kudos to the production team of the anime.
In his mind he is actually NOT an adult, he has the memories of his past life, but memories do not determine mentality, mentaliuty is determined by the brain in our sculls, mentally he is 11 almost 12.
It's cool to see her cry for Paul even though she doesn't like him for his past actions.
I think it's good to think a bad person can have redeeming qualities. Or vice versa that a good person can have deplorable qualities. Life is rarely so black and white as fiction usually makes it out to be
what’s the name of the song at the very beginning with paul and his daughter
Didn't Geese Kinda Have A Similar Sound and Posture to The Guy Talking to Rudeus in The In Between Place In Rudeus Mind Giving Him Advice Yup SUS
Geese is a real homie 💯
女性のリアクターでパンの作画に言及したのはこの人だけだね
So how are you liking it so far?
If anyone would know, yeah Ruijerd would after all he killed and ate almost his entire family. BTW if you think I'm joking here, no, no I am not he was doing it until his eldest son managed to break his cursed spear and free his mind.
Its even worst reading this part in novel because after a while everything gets blurry and I cant see shit from crying
Geese? More like "GOAT", am I right?
hehe :>
