In case you only read book 1. Tencent ONLY covers Book 1. It's important to watch Netflix version with some idea of which characters are from which book. Book 1 = Auggie Salazar, Da Shi, Ye Wenjie, Mike Evans, Vera Ye Book 2 = Saul Durand, Raj Varmas Book 3 = Jin Cheng, Thomas Wade, Jack Rooney, Will Downing Episode 1-5 = Book 1 Episode 6-7 = first few chapters of Book 3 Episode 8 = first few chapters of Book 3 + first few chapters of Book 2 + final scene of Book 1
Oh ok interesting. Yeah I've only watched the tencent version, no book reading at all. Definitely will need to grab the books at some point though, especially with a 2-3 year wait for season 2 of both series.
@@EamonnReactsTV Just wanted to give some clarity on all the Netflix characters and where they are from. They are of course, new characters but all are based on or combined from or divided from the book characters.
It's so damn good. Saw the movie in theatres with a large group of people and we were dead silent the entire way out of the theatre and on the way home.
The conversation Mike Evan's has with the San-Ti takes place in the prologue of book 2. It is contemporaneous with the events of S1 (obviously he can't talk after ✂️.) IMO, this is an example of why the Netflix version is a better adaptation than the Tencent version, in addition to the quicker pacing. We see every event and character that appears in this current "era". Meanwhile, Tencent is slavishly following the books' timeline and not taking advantage of the chance to tell the story in roughly chronological order.
Jack was my least favorite character, so while I didn’t feel an emotional sting, I appreciated his death displaying more of the San-ti’s ability to “cloak” their human agent’s deeds. I also really enjoyed the visualization of the San-ti fleet leaving their dying world & beginning their journey to Earth. As soon as I finished the series I got all 3 audiobooks. Fantastic stuff.
I was pretty surprised. Not so much in the moment as they were sort of leaning to it but just yeah his character was a lot of fun. Hope to see that actor in more stuff. So far he's been 2 for 2 in roles I've seen him in.
Mike Evans conversations with '(his) Lord' isn't it the books, they're D&D's adapting the material. In a good way, mind you - If you've seen Game of Thrones, I'd say more in a Tywin-Arya who-are-you tango way than , let's say, the Night King's death or Littlefinger's jetpack tour.
Mike Evans conversation with San-Ti alien was in the beginning of Book 2 - The Dark Forest. Because that conversation happened before Judgement Day event so it makes sense to include it in season 1.

Upgraded my camera a bit so it should look like this going forward!

Thanks for reminding me that it's about time to listen to the Annihilation soundtrack again.

Really great point. There definitely is a better way to tell the story. Hoping they don't cut too much though.
Subbed for Syzygy. Its a very satisfying word.
haha yup I love it. Every time I see/hear it I react like the DiCaprio meme.

I definitely need to check out the books. Don't think I can wait 2(?) years for more.
Jack's death gutted me

I'm still mad! Hopefully Britt and Zal get to finish it at some point.
