Ok time for a few facts! 1. AdBlue is contained in a separate tank to the diesel 2. Ad Blue is on the Everest as well so there's that 3. Never buy the first generation of a completely new model - wait until the bugs have been ironed out.

    • @peterwright2692
      @peterwright2692 Місяць тому +1

Ad blue and diesel definitely don't mix. If they ever are mixed you need the full fuel system ,tank to injector, removed and replaced - cleaned, the is no inbetween solution.

The ad blue is in a separate tank so only a blind person would put ad blue in the diesel tank. Ad blue is not new as it has been in many vehicles for a long time and is not a problem, just top it up like you do the diesel tank

Had a 120, put an order in for a 250, waited, waited and waited more. Bought a 2020 Patrol Y62 in the meantime with the plan on selling it when the 250 was released. Finally test drove the 250 Altitude last week and the following day put in an order for a brand new Y62 Ti. The 250 looks great, but that’s where it ends sadly because I have been a Toyota fan boy for a long time, but just can’t overlook its shortcomings. I think it really now qualifies for a school pick up family car.

@@NorthOz If you can afford to drive a V8, it’s one of your best options in my opinion. I’m probably spending an extra $500-$1,000 on fuel every year, but I get many benefits and don’t care one bit. Owning a car you enjoy driving isn’t just about fuel usage. Powerful V8 engine, a stack of room, reliability and an updated head unit makes this car quite desirable actually. And whilst many complain about the lack of tech, I prefer this to a million bells and whistles going off every few seconds. Don’t forget to do a wood grain delete if that’s not your thing. They told me I should test a Y62 and then choose a color. They were right. Haha. Each to their own I guess. Certainly good value.

Love all these comments. Been buying and using Land Cruisers (60, 80, 100, and 200) since 1987. Heard the same thing when the FJ60 was replaced by the 80. Then the 80 replaced by the 100. Then the 100 replaced by the 200. I'm sure this, along with the 300, will become a tried and true, loved vehicle in the next couple of years. Especially after the keyboard warriors that don't actually use the vehicle for what it was designed for have moved on. I do wish, however, there is a way to remove all the warning noises. Pretty pissed off to be honest as I just sold my Land Rover in preparation for receiving this thing and was conned into sticking down a $5k deposit to be one of the first to get one (3 months ago). I’ve been driving my new 2024 Prado GXL for a week. Overall, I love it. The tech is quite advanced and I think it takes a bit to get used to. It drives very well, very comfortable, is great around the city. I believe many of the complaints I’ve heard are more around ignorance of how to use the tech. The fuel efficiency is truly mind-blowing. Yes, The drink bottle in doors are small and the boot is a bit of a challenge. I do think after market solutions will address this. The tech is very advanced but excellent. I think the Aussie market has to move with the times. It does take time to get used to, but worth the effort.

Overpriced, over weight, under powered, no long range tank, no space for a second battery, and that silly boot space arrangement, a total disaster, toyota have forgotten what people buy prados for, that is for adventure, 4WD, touring, towing the caravan or boat, dealers must be fuming, what was a good earner for them is now just a lemon, just for interest 18k AUD cheaper in NZ and no doubt other countries, also other countries get the no hybrid option, toyota should have reworked that engine for more power and made it cleaner, my 2023 150 series is a winner compared to this 250 abomination

    Some very interesting points.
I hate to say it but I dont think this current model is for towing or touring. The lack of fuel when towing will also be restrictive.
A weekend getaway maybe but that's all.
From what I have seen most hybrids seem to have a much reduced payload to the non hybrid versions.
That totyota has not partnered with a third party provider like Ford & ARB to provide upgrades that do not cancel your warranty may push some customers to Ford. I just dont understand that
Being an existing Prado 150 owner I would not be getting this model. Other models and engines may come.
    .
That higher display may be good but would make it very hard to use a third party GPS.
I think Petrol would also be best now possibly ?
    .
I just cant see any reason to upgrade yet, I would wait and see how things pan out over the next year or so and hope for a better model for Australian towing & conditions

    • @NorthOz

I'd challenge your assumption that diesel is still so popular in Australia. It's a fact that for many cars, there is no other option but many people would choose the petrol version if there was a choice.
Compared to my 150 series, the decrease in fuel capacity, the loss of storage and, most importantly, all the computer nagging, would lead me to never buy one of these. I already have a mother and a wife, I don't need my car to nag me too!

If Toyota Australia offered the 2.4L 4 Cylinder i-FORCE MAX Hybrid Petrol engine (like they get in Nth America), it would have been my choice (over the diesel). I'm in the market for the 250 Prado Altitude, but unsure if I should wait another year Dec 2025 or get it now. The current 2.8L diesel we get is not Euro 6d standard compliant (only Euro 5). From Dec 2025, all new versions of new vehicles sold in Australia must meet Euro 6d. The standard will then apply to all new vehicles on sale from 2028. So it will be interesting what engine Toyota Australia will upgrade the Prado then to.

From what I can tell 8000km per ad blue fill up, I took a altitude for a test drive, I personally really like the interior design... found the electric steering to be very nice.
If you arent looking for 7 seats... I think you could definitely build a nice touring setup but at 100k price point, 300 series if towing a van is definitely a better option, boats skis ect which is lighter then i dont see any issues with the prado 250. When it comes to the battery system, unless they can prove the modifications youve made have damaged that system then under Australian consumer law they can't legally void your warranty... a non hybrid model would definitely be a nice addition to the Australian market, although emissions laws are pushing Toyota in the direction they are, overall the new prado is a nice car that seems well finished/built outside of the boot space... styling is very nice to look at, really I think as a light touring vehicle with a few tasteful mods it could be the right fit for alot of people but certainly not for everyone... especially at the price point it sits in, id be waiting for aftermarket support & the bugs to be worked out but thats just me 🤷‍♂️
If tuff touring is what you want to do, for the price point id be looking at 70s instead

Have been using adblue in my landcruiser for the past 7 years now
The tank is 12 litres. When you are down to the last 3 litres a light comes on the dash. Adblue is sold is sold in 10 litre tubs. I always buy it in 5 litre tubs. Much easier to handle without spilling. Try lifting 10 litres and lean over the engine to reach filler , ouch! Always use a funnel if one is not provided. 7000 miles later it will need refilling.

I have a 150 series, but the Kakadu version. I've been told that, for this particular version, I can't get a GVM upgrade at all because it would stuff up all the sensors. I can't even get rails for the side steps! So, even if a GVM upgrade for the 250 series may become available later, it may not be available for the Kakadu version.

These are some of the reasons I'm feeling very relieved that I bought one of the last brand new 2023 Kakadu's in May this year as I didn't like the look of the new FJ Cruiser looking Prado either. I think once people realise all the negatives with this newer model the 150 series Prado's are going to hold their value like nothing else.

Non c'è paragone con il livello di assistenza tra le marche europee e queste giapponesi. Di europee ne ho avuto ben 17!!! Up until the current release I certainly was not a hater. In fact I'm still not a so-called hater. However, just observing what Toyota has offered and seeing actual reports from new owners. I am dissapointed. I simply look at the huge jump in price and see this vehicle as a very poor option. I bought a new Pajero 3.2 Diesel Manual in 2010, this was the car I had plans of apossible replacement. It is still in excellent, I was just contemplating a change.
Toyota = Charge as much as we can and give the least possible. The cult following will que up for their offering! (I see nothing wrong with a cult following, it usuall means that it is well deserved and that the product is very good.)
Pre-Historic engine! I was actually looking forward to the arrival. I was expecting possibly a high tech V6 Diesel, good towing capacity. Plenty of traditional room to fit all camping kit. (Not a stupid battery) What did we get? Reduced fule capacity and Add Blue!
    I just don't get the battery? ....
I like the looks. V6, no hybrid and back to the good sized fuel capacity and a sensibly priced package. I'm in.
Too many engine issues now. Oil failure 00! Australian outback is very hot. Add a load and the recomended oil doesn.t cope so it seems?
How would you know of the Crook dealers would put the grade oil that the experts are recomending to solve the Toyota issue? Knowing Toyota, the their recomended oil will destroy the engine. However, of you replace it with a better suited, it would destroy your warranty? It's a time-bomb anyway I look at it?

My 150 series which I bought brand new 2 years ago has dpf and adblue. No issues with it so far. The tank holds 14 Letres of adblue. It is in the engine bay. There is a white tank with a blue screw cap, just undo that and top up the adblue once every 6000k or so. The car tells you when it needs adblue, and you can always see how much is in the tank. Anyone who has a 150 series Prado must have adblue in it.
The 250 having a smaller fuel tank has nothing to do with adblue. The adblue tank is only small, so hardly going to make any difference.
One thing I know I am not going to swap my 150 series for the 250. Too much plastic on the 250 and mine has absolutely everything the 250 series has. Would be absolutely no point, just a waste of money. And as mine is modded I would be actually downgrading if I bought the 250.
Another point the 250 weighs more than the 150 but has exactly the same power, so the 250 is actually a little slower than the 150, it is also less economical.

Rule of thumb, never buy the first generation until the bugs are ironed out. Personally, there’s not a new vehicle on the Market I’d spend my money on regardless of brand. Toyota is to expensive and have lost the plot and definitely not the vehicle they use to be , BMW also went the same way. I’ll keep my 11 year old PRE DPF DMAX, no where near perfect, can be a slug at times but never had an issue. Manufactures are now making cars more complex ( emissions, safety, basically stuff you don’t need ). Also I believe people expectations of these vehicles is asking to much. They are basically work horses, they are based on the work horse. More fruit = more weight. I believe you want luxury buy a SUV or car, want to travel, tow head off-road, buy a base model. Remember we old folk have traveled this country quite successfully in the past with out all the gimmicks people now expect.

I’m in the UK and have a 150 MY22. Adblue - is to neutralise NOx and DPF is to remove particulates which cause respiratory problems. Just got back from a trip to Morocco with just over 1200 miles off-road sand/gravel/rock and 600 miles tarmac. Used 10litres of Adblue from start to finish which is about the capacity of the tank. Another 2000 on highway going through Spain and UK and used about the same. I don’t see Adblue as any more inconvenient than windscreen washer fluid but I would recommend getting one of those collapsible funnels because when you spill it,it makes a mess.
DPF regeneration about every 150 miles but doesn’t need to be run at speed for regeneration to be initiated. There is also a manual regeneration option which I think is as a result of the Australian class action. Overall I don’t see DPF or Adblue as too much of an issue. That said, had there been an option for a petrol engine I would probably have gone down that route for other reasons.

    • @Murrayhewitt1967
      @Murrayhewitt1967 Місяць тому
