    What a cool way to sew the lining. Its not what I intuitively would have done, but its cool and looks beautiful

    I identify with the frustration of the fit issues! Taking a few days off and coming back to it is a good idea. Sometimes you can get disheartened and abandon a project so it was very informative to see your fit remedies. So helpful! Thank you! Stunning dress as always!

    I love this dress! It’s like a modern take on regency. The fabric looks great too 😊🥰

    I'm currently making this dress and had a lot of the same fit issues as you! 😫 I shortened the "yoke" while adding on the lining by increasing the seam allowance on both ends of the yoke. I doubled the seam allowance for the front panel and took off about an inch off of the back panels. I'm going to use your tip for the yoke in my next version of this dress. It's so cute, I'm not sure why the fit is so wonky! Beautiful make :)

    I was procrastinating cutting my fabric for this exact pattern and I unknowingly played this video. Guess its a sign to pick up my cutter and shears.
    This was a lovely video and thank you for the thorough tutorial cause you cleared up all of my confusion regarding the instruction. It turned out georgeous!

    I just purchased this pattern. I haven’t sewn in quite a while, but with this tutorial, patience, and a mock-up, I think I’ll be able to figure it out!

    The style and colour of the dress is so perfect on you! A little sewing tip is to have your pin heads on the outside of the fabric rather than the inside, so that you can easily pull them out with your right hand as you sew. Just a little time saving tip:)

      @LaurenJohnson  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much Miranda! I need to do that! I always find myself wishing I pinned things differently once I get to the sewing machine. 😂

    Would have never thought of doing the lining after the sleeves were attached for that kind of dress. Also love your Kenmore. I have one too that does amazing job.

    Turned out SO adorable! I have a dress that I need to alter after making it. It’s been sitting on my sewing table staring at me for a couple weeks now. I haven’t done anything yet because it, like yours, also has a lining at I don’t want to open it up and fix it 🤣

    • @LaurenJohnson
      @LaurenJohnson  3 роки тому

      Thank you so much! ❤️ Haha, yes, I definitely had to take some time away from the project before I had the heart to open it up and fix it!

      Ugh. I've done this a few times and it is so discouraging! I've started using any old, cheap fabric to make a mock-up (or two, if needed) for every dress bodice so I can work out fit issues. Yeah, it's a little extra work to start, but it saves so much trouble and heartache that it's totally worth it to me.

    Hi Laura!! Just to confirm with your alternation. Did you take in 4 inches in total from the back pieces? One inch each from #11 and #3? I love this dress n bought the pattern. But I M sewing it for my daughter who lives in Asia, so it is all a guessing game with measurement. Thank you Laura!

    I am making this now and the sizing is wayyy off. I had to remove 10 inches of ease in the top. I made a size according to measurements for my daughter. I had to adjust it a lot but she is happy me loves it.
