Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation, I love these series. Can you please explain how to add pleats or tucks to a basic bodice pattern or convert darts to pleats. Thank you

You would use the slash and spread method to accomplish this. Here's a tutorial covering the basics: ua-cam.com/video/8SMkdy_iap0/v-deo.html

The video is really helpful. How would you apply these modifications to a raglan sleeve? Particularly the sleeve head part.

Thanks for the video. When do we do puff sleeve by increasing cap height only? and when when do we cut it horizontally and open it up (your method)? Why increase cap height by 2 inches only?

You'll want to do both, opening it up creates a gathered effect, and increasing the cap height adds more volume. 2 inches is the standard increase, but you could experiment with more.

Thank you for this. I am making a top for my 4 yr old and have a shirt pattern I love but wanted the puffy sleeves. Suggestion...if you have wrapping paper with the grid lines on the back for cutting that would be a quick alternative to drawing your own. Can't wait to see how this turns out! Edit: I didn't finish watching...I see you have to draw the lines as each piece is added because they are not 1inch apart.

Thanks for watching! Puffy sleeves are the best. Hope you enjoy the rest of the video!

This video was great! Do the sleeves have to be full length? Would I need to add the length for a short sleeve?

You can slash and spread short sleeves too! You'll still need to add some height to the cap and length at the hem to make the gathers fall nicely.

Would the gathered hem need a small cuff to keep gathers in place? I guess using elastic in the hem could also work?
