Mine personal hair growth journey of success, I myself followed this routine: Take early morning sunshine every day for vitamin D. Eat veggies of all colours. Using paraben-free and fragrance free shampoo and gently massaging two times per week with hair oil by litttleextra cocooonion oil. Imp. to remember that hair growth is affected by overall health as well as circulation and diet.
@@DrSamEllis hi Dr. Sam, i want to ask about eyebrow serums, if they also cause fat loss around the eyes??!! Help me please, i have big problem with my eyebrows, and I'm worried about side-effects of the eyebrow serums 😟
Castor oil definitely helped my eye lashes to grow. I notice it after a week and especially after two weeks. They don’t make them thicker though, just longer. It’s an old tradition. I was considering latisse to see if it’ll make a difference and have thicker lasting results but after this video I see it’s not with the risk. ❤
@@yellowcherry710 I've used both over the years. At first I used black jamaican castor oil when I was in High School and then tried the regular cold pressed castor oil from Walmart and saw it works just as fine. It lengthens them but it doesn't make them thick. Noticeably longer in 2 weeks for sure. 1 week you'll see something though.
I just put a dab on my finger tip and spread it across my lash line. With my eye closed, I gently press it along the line. The consistency is a little thick so a little goes a long way. It will get on my eye lids and lashes as well and that's ok for me
Thanks for explaining that! Have you ever thought about posting a video talking about the lash serums that are safe to use? For example, what do you think of the Poppy Austin lash serum. I checked all the ingredients and there are none of the nasty chemicals you mentioned. I have been using it and have got longer and thicker lashes.
I use a new lash enhancer from The Ordinary with peptides. it is too soon to see results. That chemical is also not listed on my product so I am assuming it also doesn't contain that chemical either. I also wish Dr. Ellis would offer safe alternatives. I am 60 yrs old with vanishing brows and lashes and need all the help I can get. The Ordinary's Price-point is awesome too. I cannot afford a lot of high priced skincare. That is why I use the Ordinary serums and basic skincare...so I have money left over to splurge on serious moisturizer/texturizers/dark spot correctors.
Thank you! I always liked my lashes but now I feel really insecure about them because of social media and it‘s so sad! I am so glad I didn‘t buy any lash serum and I will not sacrifice my eyes for longer eye lashes. I have light blue eyes and I‘m scared to ruin my eye color just for longer lashes. Be proud of your lashes people! Wie don‘t have to be perfect. ❤
There isn’t one. You can pick though. Some remove fat around the eye making spooky sunken looking eyes. Or an eye lid droop, or darkened skin around the eyes . She only prescribes in cases like hair loss from chemotherapy. At about 7 minutes into this she mentions trying peptides which some times works. The Ordinary brand sells that at a very reasonable price. Tip: I use nothing except a moisturizer for lashes (The Ordinary) and the tiny pieces of false eye lash and use on the outside corners of the lid for an upward sweep effect. Not to be used daily but special occasions because glue drys out your own lashes. So! We’re basically screwed BUT we still have our own healthy lashes unlike what’s happening to those that are going to have regrets.
is it true that if you stop using the lashes serum your eyelashes will go back to how it looked before using the serum?? i heard the results aren't permanent i really need to know 🥹
Yes. If you stop using it, your eyelashes will go back to how they were before. Eyelashes fall out everyday, so after a few days, your lashes will revert back if you stop using the serum. The serum is what is making your eyelashes longer. Once you stop using it, the old eyelashes will fall out, and your eyelashes will go back to the previous length or sometimes slightly shorter/longer.
I suffered from this with generic latisse which I probably used for 6-9 months. I had peri-orbital fat loss and the blood vessels in my upper lids were very pronounced. I also had blurred vision. It got so bad I had to stop. Luckily the “veiny eyelids” did get better but it took a good year to correct.
I am so thankful that I stumbled onto this video. You would be saving a lot of people if you would re-post some version of this regularly and maybe talk to colleagues about spreading the word in fair clear discussions. I think a lot about daughters, little sisters, etc. who might use them thinking they are benign/safe.
I have been using neulash for about 3 months now. I haven't noticed any of these effects, but thank you for the information! At least now I know what to look out for!
I have less hair on my eyebrows and I always worry about it. Then I get to know dermal md serum. And it really help me out. Now my eyebrows have some volume. This oil based serum contains some powerful natural hair tonics like- Castor oil, Onion Oil, Etc.. promotes hair growth, fights infection and maintains voluminous eyebrows/ eyelashes. Easy to use.
I've been using RapidLash and RapidBrow for about 5 years, with a few minor breaks here and there. Recently, I noted they're not working at all in terms of growth, and my eyebrow area is stained a darker shade than my natural coloring (fair). I looked at your list of prostaglandin analogs, and lo and behold, RapidLash and RapidBrow contain "isopropyl cloprostenate"! The products are touted as a safer alternative to Latisse, full of amino acids and peptides (which is true), but buried way down in the ingredients list is that isopropyl cloprostenate. Time to pull back/out on this stuff. I'd check the list of ingredients in whatever growth serum any of you might be using against that list. Thanks for a very informative video, doctor!
Often the prostaglandin analogue is buried in the ingredient list and not mentioned as the active ingredient making the product appear safe. Very deceptive.
Thank you Dr. Sam. July 1 of this year I bought three packages of a lash growth serum by Lilly Lash. Been using them daily as directed. Out in the trash they go. I’m a senior citizen, I don’t need anymore health related problems with my eyes! So glad I found your channel. New subscriber here!🙏🏻🌹
Thanks for sharing this, it's really informative. i'm a lash tech and usually i get clients who come to me with damaged natural lashes from other salon's lash extensions service. Most of the time i recommend them to use these serums that you listed as their "resting time" treatment and a lot of times they tell me that they either notice their eyelids and lower lash skin darkens. Though it was subtle at first but on the long run they notice the difference in their eyes including a little bit of redness to it. It was a side effect that I don't want my clients to have. Thank you for listing the prostaglandin analogues ingredients names, now I could at least check the ingredients list on the lash serums I can recommend to them. Love lots and stay safe 💜💜💜💜💜
I had used bimetoprost for lash growth for quite some time and I can tell you I had the fat wasting around the eyes really bad. It made me literally look 10 years older. My eyelashes got longer, but not thicker and overall I looked much much worse due to the fat wasting and I was in my 30s.and darkening around the eye skin too
Omg! I can’t believe this. I’ve been using UKlash since January. Though I’ve seen a significant change with my lashes, I’ve also noticed that my eyes got deeper on the top area. I thought its due to lack of sleep and less water. 😱😱😱 Whenever I checked my lashes on the mirror I feel that my eyes got older. I was about to buy again, good thing I’ve seen this video accidentally. 🤯🥺 Thank you so much for the information. ❤
Omg you’re rocking my word right now. I’ve been using latisse everyday for years and recently Ive noticed I’m developing SUCH bad under eye veins and dark circles. Ive been visiting esthetician’s and plastic surgeons and looking into serious interventions like vein ablation and under eye filler. I’m going to stop using latisse ASAP. I so hope this helps. I would be so happy to get rid of these dark circles. I didn’t even connect it with my latisse use, I thought it was due to aging!! Also, if you read this, thank you! And approximately how long for these veins and darkness to go away?
Thank you for this comment! I have noticed the same thing recently! Recently I got my eyebrows micro bladed and when I went back for the final follow up i had her dye my eyelashes. I don't know how harmful that is, but it's been a month and they still look great and long sans latisse! Best of luck to you!
So glad I found this! I started using GrandeLash a few months ago; had amazing results but am noticing some itchiness and more folds on my eyelid. I am 31 so I am hopeful my lids can go back to normal. Thanks for the advice!
As someone with hooded eyelids, I’d love more eyelid space without the surgery! 😀 i’ve used a bunch of different serums with only peptides and have never found results that compare at all to Revitalash. 😕
@@sweetpeace5 Revitalash is one of the oldest, most well-known prostaglandin lash serums. It does contain it, look at the list of ingredients on the box the prostaglandin is Dechloro Dihydroxy Difluoro Ethylcloprostenolamide.
I just started noticing my eyes sunken. I only used it in my eyebrows for about a month or so. Not sure if related. But I had used this in the past like a few years ago. Good to know it’s reversible.
Thank you so much for this video! I had used UK lash for a few months and through my lashes grew much longer, I definitely noticed my top lid darkening. I wasn’t sure if I was just being a little paranoid, but I now know that I wasn’t! I’ve stopped using my lash serum now and through my lashes are short again, my eyelids have returned to how they were before
Hi, Ive been using UKLash for 3/4 months (I thought it didn't contain prostaglandins). How were your eyelashes when you stopped using it? Heard some horror stories!
Loving all these topics you talk about! You’re always informative. Would you consider videos on: -How to increase hair density. -How to reduce sebaceous filaments. Does facial steaming help? -Most effective in-office procedures? Thank you 🙏
This is why I've started doing my research before buying any skin product or serum! I started using uklash eyelash serum and already noticed results in 3 weeks. I'm so glad I found this video though, you really saved me so thank you 🥺 Also do you have any specific brands you recommend that don't contain prostaglandins, or even methods for longer lashes?
@@juliahutchinson4542 ive also started using uk lash about 3 weeks ago, ive just read the ingredients and i couldnt find any names listed on the packaging, however i did notice that i got more dark circles, i thought it was just me, that i might havent been sleeping well or sum, but now that this video popped up it makes sense!!
I use castor oil and it’s super super effective, but I’m a guy and just using argan oil caused noticeable growth when a lot of people don’t say much for it; so maybe the results are exaggerated in my case but still worth a try please try it if you’re struggling with eyebrow/eyelashes
I’m not sure what the side effects are for these two products but for me the main thing that out me off bimatoprost (the active ingredient in a lot of these serums) was the fact that it caused spot reduction in size fat cells around the applied area and the “hollow” look. And I don’t agree that it’s reversible; a lot of people will be affected for life due to it
I just accepted the side effect of reddened eyelids as a glaucoma patient and used concealer, took credit for my continued great eyelids despite my age🤣🧐😘 Thanks again 👍
As an off-shoot of this interesting topic, what about brow growth serums? I know many people who use them and have had good results, but to your point, any concerns about the ingredients of these? Very impressed with your channel - so glad I found it. Great job!
Dr. Sam, can you recommend any alternatives for stimulating eyebrow growth?? I have multiple medical conditions that have caused mine to fall out and they’re all but gone😩. I was using Grande Lash until I watched this video. Any medications or natural options? Thanks so much!!❤️❤️
Thank you Dr Ellis for this excellent video! I can't believe that I wasted a lot of money on Neulash and Grande Lashes since 2018 plus eye primers to cover discoloration on my eyelids, color correctors and concealers to cover discoloration on my under eyes and to lose fat around my eyes.
I randomly saw this video on my suggestion and I cannot believe it! I use lash serum everyday. Thank you for the info! Also how’s nobody talking about this?
Many people have said they do their own mix at home with castor oil and vitamin e oil. You can find a mix of more or different wholesome ingredients. Avoid Vaseline! People say they use it, but you can get serious problems with Vaseline.
Could you do a video on rosacea management, particularly coming from it as a dermatologist who has it? I have rosacea & I know, of course, all derms have the medical knowledge to treat it. But there’s something extra helpful about when a dermatologist has had a particular condition personally. You get the one two punch of the medical expertise and personal perspective for what has helped them. Thanks for your videos!
I'm loving the format. Personable, but still to the point. Informative, but not excessively long. Please keep making videos! Ps. I'm so curious to see how you layer your sunscreen & makeup. I was a religious sunscreen user, and have sadly been slacking lately just bc I sometimes want to wear eyeshadow or other makeup but am scared I'll disturb the sunscreen film. Gotta get back in it though!
Thank you for the information, Dr. Ellis. I like using lash serum on my eyebrows. Would these side effects still apply if I were to restrict usage to just the eyebrow area?
Thank you SO much, you got a new subscriber! Especially those other names to look out for is very useful. As my knowledge grow about how “cruelty free” and “parabene free” products can have real harmful ingredients, I for sure wish we had stronger laws about mandatory listing of ingredients, and prohibition of harmful ingredients. It shouldn’t be this hard to keep your skin and your baby’s skin poison free.
My Grandma always used to say you should never put anything near your eyes. She was right! ❤️ I prefer using castor oil, would you recommend? I like the conditioning even if it doesn’t help them grow 😌
Thank you for the thorough explanation, I really appreciate it! Have you tried the multi-peptide lash & brow serum from The Ordinary? I don’t have nearly the knowledge you do, but it seems like the ingredients are very different, and perhaps safe. I’d love to hear your take on it. Thank you!!
@@Jbos1994 it was the one from the ordinary. I have been told that no questionable ingredients were in this product but several weeks ago I saw it and they had an ingredient that she had mentioned on the video. I went back to the website and the ingredient was no longer listed on the site. Maybe the changed it, but it’s why I didn’t use this particular serum.
Thank you. I was using one of these serums on my eyebrows since they are so thin. Don't know if the serum helped or the fact that I quit plucking for several weeks to see what would actually grow was the answer, but I did get more growth of eyebrow hairs. I ran out of the stuff several weeks ago and never reordered, I won't reorder now after hearing your video. Thanks so much for this informative PSA of sorts.
Thank you for your video! I learned a little about this ingredient a couple years ago, but always have hopes there's some magical/safe serum out there that actually works (I hope mostly for my mom who has short, sparse and stubborn lashes). Could you tell me if Silly George has a derivative of that ingredient or anything that could cause the same side affects? Here are the ingredients... Purified water Sodium chloride Benzalkonium chloride EPM biological enzyme Myristoyl Pentapeptide-4 Citric acid Disodium phosphate Cellulose gum Also, you mentioned there ARE some natural ones out there that may have promote growth or thickness. Can you recommend or mention any specific ones? Thanks so much!
I tried RapidLash ONCE and it irritated the HELL out of my eyes. Thankfully I stopped using it and was able to return the product, otherwise it seems things could have gotten worse. It's amazing that these products find their way into the cosmetics market.
This is helpful information. Thank you. In your opinion, are those adverse effects occurring with eyebrow growth and are any serums effective for eyebrow growth?
she mentioned the castor oil doens't help the eye lash growth at all in this video but I see many people also talking about castor oil. was the change obvious?
@@booki5973 well thats quite dumb because there's tons of proof from people who used it that it works well. just type it in in youtube and look for yourself
@@booki5973 Castor oil helps with lash retention so your lashes are going to be able to grow without falling out and breaking off. So it’s not exactly growing your eyelashes but it’s strengthening

I’ve used about three different lash serums and I was so excited about the last one I tried but once again my eye lids started feeling like they were burning and were red. Is this a side effect of lash serums??!
I think you better tp stop using this material. My friend once use olive oil to make up remover and she woke up in the morning with a swollen eyes. Maybe her eyes very sensitive with it. I use to apply aloevera gel instead of mascara to my lashes for daily use.
I've been using lash growing serums with prostaglandin analogs for a decade and haven't had a single one of the side effects. I'm sure everyone's biology is different. I initially used every day for the first month to get my lashes to the length I wanted. But after that I use it ... maybe 2 or 3 times a week for upkeep.. like I said, for the past 11 years. I wonder if the fact that I only have to upkeep 2-3 times a week versus every day prevents any long term or even noticeable side effects. My lashes have stayed the same since with that minimal amount of upkeep. I am always always careful never to get it in my eyes, which is why I don't use it at night and sleep with it on (wash your face at night kids). And I use the most minimal amount at the very roots of my lashes and try not slather it around. As with any beauty procedure, I always say, more is not more. Less is more. Maybe all those contribute to not seeing side effects. But that's just my anecdotal evidence. :) But as of yet, no darkening of eyes (i already had brown/blackish eyes), no new blood vessels, no hyperpigmentation where I apply it and no loss of fat. *knock on wood* .
So WHEN are you applying?? I’d venture to say everybody washes face & then puts on eyelash serum before bed so it doesn’t interfere with eye makeup wear during day. I’m curious about your routine!
@@sweetpeace5 LOL i can see how that would be a really curious question. So because my sister is an optometrist, I knew really early on to be very careful about getting it in my eyes. Since I don't actually have glaucoma I didn't want to needlessly get it in my eyes. what I found worked best for me was to apply my make up.. and then i just used the thinnest brush ever and applied the growth serum at the very very base of my eyelashes, right on my eyeliner. This works no matter if i'm using a gel liner, a liquid liner, a power line. Some would say.. "but it's not directly on the skin.. cuz you're putting it over eyeliner." Believe me, it definitely still works. That way it's never seeping into your eyes and under your eyelids while you're sleeping. i suspect that's what prevents the fat loss that this video talked about. Imagine sleeping on your back and then gravity just pulling it down under your eye lids. And then you toss and turn while you're sleeping, smearing it god who knows where on your face too. I put it on in the morning.. go about my day... it evaporates to a degree. And before i got to bed, I wash my face. I feel like helps really localize it just to your lash line and not allow it to spread needlessly anywhere else. It was also the best way to avoid the irritated red eyes people talk about.
Oh no! I got Grande Lash as a gift and it actually works! I used it mostly on my brows, not so much on my lashes as I thought it just couldn’t be safe…always trust your gut, Girls! Thanks for this video! ❤
This is an excellent video, thank you!! I also think about the psychological aspect of this enterprise. The beauty industry is very adept at talking people into manipulating every single millimeter on their face. (I am still waiting for a nostril-enhancing serum.) People buy things for hundreds of dollars without questioning a single aspect and so the multi-billions continue to roll in. There seems to be a “if it’s on the market, I need it” mentality. I am getting a little tired of seeing people literally ruin their looks in an attempt to be “more beautiful.”
I haven’t noticed anything drastic as far as my lashes getting thicker . I use this because when I’m stressed my eyelashes and eyebrows fall out in chucks . One day I woke up to half of one side of my eyebrows gone or half of one of my eyelashes gone .
Girls, use aloe gel. It will not do wonders, but my lashes looks more nourished, better in a way. I am too sensitive for mascara, so i apply a little bit of gel everyday on my lashes and brows. Gives definition.
That sounds promising too. Great idea. There are many different formulations containing Aloe Vera Gel obtainable. Some are not meant to use near eyes. Make sure that the aloe vera gel choice...is pure as possible. Don't use the ones with Lidocaine in 'em for sunburn relief...or anything that could burn eyes. You can find it on Amazon or any natural health store. Aloe Vera should be first ingredient. The one I use in skin care remedies has aloe first...then citric acid, ascorbic acid, Potassium Sorbate, Xanthan Gum. To my knowledge...these act as stabilizers and natural preservation of the Gel...and should not cause a reaction. At least I have never had one. Less ingredients...the better safety option. If you have an Aloe plant...that is probably the best option. Nothing added. Just "a Kiss from Mother Nature".
What is your thoughts on the DIME eyelash boost serum? Would really appreciate if you could answer since I see people all over the internet raving about it and I been thinking about buying it. Thanks for all your videos and for sharing your knowledge
Most of the more severe illnesses happen to people by surprise, unexpectantly, impacting first in the brain, then in the corresponding organ which that part of the brain controls. The end of WWI had absolutely everything to do with the Flu and lung TB outbreak that occurred killing millions. In nature, the biological conflict linked with a territorial fear (just what it means-a fear in your territory, your home, your community, etc.) is a widening of the bronchia (tissue loss). Your body attempts to widen your bronchia in order to allow more air into your lungs to give you more strength and energy to fight to keep your territory safe. Stay with me.......The biological conflict linked with a death fright impacts the lungs. The lungs attempt to grow larger in order to allow more air in because breath equals life, as we all know. No breath equals death. While you are in the fear or death fright conflict, you notice no symptoms of “disease”, except you have cold hands, cold feet, you can’t sleep, you awaken at 3 AM every night, you have little appetite. During the war, millions of people were in fear of the bombing of their homes and cities where the war was most active. Fearing for their lives, their loved ones in the war, their ability to survive. The food in the stores was sparse due to shortages. This lasted for 4 long years! The longer the conflict, the worse the healing phase. Within 2 weeks of the German Chancellor announcing the end of WWI, these millions of people ALL went into the healing phase all at the same time. It is during the healing phase that you experience symptoms of illness! What is the healing phase of the bronchia widening? Severe bronchitis, pneumonia. The body attempts to refill this lost tissue and you experience inflammation, fever, coughing, body aches, fatigue, etc. What is the healing phase of the extra lung tissue that grew? Decomposing of the tissue by TB bacteria and fungi. The symptoms of this healing phase are: severe coughing up of blood and tissue, fever, inflammation, severe mucous, body aches, fatigue. During this decomposing of the extra tissue (tumor), the body expels a lot of protein, and without replenishment, severe protein loss can result in death. Antibiotics did not exist yet. If TB bacteria does not exist in a person or they have been vaccinated against TB (big mistake), then the tumor will simply encapsulate and become dormant and not harm you. Who died during the Spanish Flu? Mainly the poor who could not afford to buy meat and proper nourishment, and the people who were directly impacted by the bombings and destruction of their homes. Millions of people suffered fear and death frights during the fighting of WWI, and millions of people all went into healing at the end of it. Not everyone was affected because not everyone suffered the same way. It’s not a “flu”, it’s not something you “catch”. It’s biological, meaningful, and unavoidable. One hundred years later, a Fear Campaign begins, using the media to spread it......
I used FacEvolution lash serum. It has not this ingredient and still makes lashes grow nicer. Friend of mine still uses it, she had pretty lashes before bot now they are much longer :) It doesn't make lashes darker so the effect is best with mascara on. But always be carefull, some nourishing ingredients tends to be irritating for more sensitive skin :)
I used FacEvolution lash serum (it is without bimatoprost) and i trully enjoyed it :) I stopped when it irritated my eye but for someone less sensitive it works great - friend of mine has lashes like a doll. It doesn't darken them but OMG the lenghtening :D
I have trichotillomania, I pull my eyebrow and eyelashes hair and this is why I was on the hunt for growth serums, to help me see results and sustain my no pull resolution. I feel let down by science cause it "works" but is unsafe to use and has easthetic side effects (sux when you are actually trying to fix easthetic damages) and I'm on my own to soldier through that OCD
@Alexis Shaw good luck with it 🙏😘 not long ago the benefit brow girl at sephora put me on blast in front of everybody to tell me i had THE BEST BROWS she'd seen that day and I was like "what are you talking about girl I have trich" 😶 that's when I realised that if I didn't have the disorder I would have Zoe Kravitz eyebrows 🥲🥲 since then I wish eyebrow pencils were the quick fix but alas after my latest rampage on my own face almost snake oil products and brutal side effects are still an option 🥲
I feel your pain, I have the same. Only thing that stops me pulling is lash extensions or wearing false lashes daily to protect my lashes but sometimes I cant help myself anyway! So annoying! Ordinary Lash Serum is SAFE and good reviews! :)
I started using a serum and now it’s going in the bin! Thank you for sharing your insights. Itchy eyelids on day one were a red flag. I’ve subscribed to your channel, thanks again.
Thank you for your video! ✨ I have just purchased NYK1 last serum and here are the ingredients. Is there anything I should know about these ingredients before using 🙏🏼💖 Purified Water (Aqua), Disodium Phosphate, Citric Acid, Cellulose Gum, Swertia Japonica Extract, Panax Ginseng Extract, Biotin, Sodium Chloride, Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Benzalkonium Chloride.
Hi Sam, thank you for your informative videos. I have checked the ingredients list of my eye lash serum and it does contain Ethycloprostenolamide. Which lash serums are safe to use then? Thanks :)
there is Mavala double lash serum which does not contain prostaglandins and they actually took in consideration eye care when producing it, I personally have very sensitive eyes and a rosacea (or kind of eczema- has not been diagnosed specifically yet) prone skin around the eyes but I haven't got a flare up or any annoying sensation around or in my eyes while using this so you could definitely try it and see if it works for you but a hint based on reviews it takes some time until you see clear results
I wish I'd see your video before. I used Latisse. It worked terrific, but about 7 weeks in I was applying it one night and stunned to realized it had changed my eye color. My eye color is normally a medium (olive) green with some light/medium brown ring around the iris. The green isn't really a great hue of green for eyes, but since they're light and have the light brown ring, they normally are just perceived as medium brown. I can't tell which part of it changed, but now they're overall a darker medium olive green color. It's an ugly army green.
I tried to use for about a month Revitalash. I had such an irritation of one eye. It was swollen for a week. And now my sensitive eyes, even more sensitive 😂 And that eye developed kind of lumpish, uneven eyelid😳 And that eye also sometimes twitching😩 Have a blessed day 🙏💕
Glad i saw this video. Though i have used eyenvy for maybe 4-5 months now and it does not seem to contain the ingredients listed or mentioned, i had noticed a slight reddening/ pigmentation on my upper lash line only. I have always had dark circles since early to mid 20s no matter how much sleep i have or dont have, drink at least 2-3 L water a day minimum and it remains an issue. Might be due to my chronic sinusitis/ nasal polyps so i will also discontinue use of the serum as i dont need to make my eyes look worse than they are. A video on dark circles and cause/ treatment (that actually works) would be awesome. Also treatment of sun spots/ age spots ( i am nearly 40 and always wear sunscreen under makeup now) but the damage was done in my younger years as i love the beach. Would appreciate a video on this treatment as well as i have had 2 or 3 laser sessions to remove them but all that did was breakdown and dissolve a few freckles, not the dark spots on my face that i hate so much. Thanks for considering my video ideas 😊
Thank you for informing us about this risk. I can’t believe the irresponsibly of my dermatologist is not telling about this after prescribing long-term use of latisse to me. I’m happy to hear that stopping will reverse risk.
Hi, thanks for the video. Could you please do a video on eyebrow serums and if they actually work or do more harm than good? or even explain if natural eyebrow growth alternatives work? Thanks heaps!
Castor oil does actually help your lashes at least look longer and thicker. I think maybe it conditions them and keeps them from falling out as quickly.
I was diagnosed with glaucoma last year and use the drops. I already had deep set eyes and not much fat. What can I do to mediate the droopy effects you covered?
Thank you so much for educating me/us! I thought you were going to talk about blood pressure and eye pressure (?) and instead, this was important information I hadn't encountered, despite being a glaucoma patient🙄
Thank youuuu I was just thinking of looking into serums and thought I should look up reviews for them and your video came up first in the search~! You've probably saved me from difficulties, since I would otherwise not have known about this. :D
I used Rodan & Fields a couple years ago for only about 7 months, but now my eyes are always super super itchy when I wear mascara. I’m not sure if it’s from the serum or just that I’ve gotten older and it started happening. It’s frustrating.
I've always wanted to use a serum but am glad I didn't. However I have been slugging my fave in Vaseline at night and I feel like it helped my lashes get longer
Jesus!!! Thank you so much! I was just looking into lash serums and a skin care Dr that is super popular said to SPECIALLY LOOK FOR products that contain the postaglandins, people love this man and he's spreading potentially dangerous information wow
So the question is "Is the eye drop tantamount to a thin line exterior to the eyeball?" And if one detects the beginning of one of these symptoms, will stopping the product end the symptom?
Thank you for spreading this information! I was very close to buying Grande Lash Enhancing Serum, which (I checked) does contain Isopropyl Cloprostenate. I also have very little wiggle room in my eye structure and don't want to risk. Thanks!
Thank you for this informative video. :) Would you say UK Lash would be okay to use with none of the side effects? The ingredients are as follows: Purified Water (Aqua), Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Panax Ginseng Extract, Swertia Japonica Extract, Pentapeptide-17, Hyaluronic Acid (HA), Vitamin E (Tocopherol), Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), Vitamin B7 (Biotin), Vitamin B5 (Panthenol)
Thank you for this excellent video. I used RapidLash for about three weeks--both their brow serum and their eyelash serum. Several blood vessels broke in my eye over the course of several weeks, but I didn't make the connection until a blood vessel broke and it was so loud that I heard it break. That scared me and I stopped using the products. Since then, I've had no issue with blood vessels breaking. I've used a safe brand for brows and lashes called Vegamour, but didn't really see much positive change. I'd greatly appreciate your recommendation of safe brow and lash serums that work.
Im so glad I found this video! I am losing a lot of.eyelash nowadays. I wanted to by a lash serum because I see on others that is very effective. I looked up a famous brand and read forums. I read from some girls that it turned their lids red and some of them got more visible veins. They said that they dont mind becasue they anyway qlways cover it with eyepowder. OMG, HUMANS! Btw. The Ordinary is made with peptids. Does it contains any dangerous ingredient? I lost more than half of my lashes in the last half year. :'(
Mine personal hair growth journey of success, I myself followed this routine:
Take early morning sunshine every day for vitamin D. Eat veggies of all colours. Using paraben-free and fragrance free shampoo and gently massaging two times per week with hair oil by litttleextra cocooonion oil. Imp. to remember that hair growth is affected by overall health as well as circulation and diet.
I love how you explain things without dumbing them down but still being easy to understand! Keep it coming! :)
Thank you so much!
@@DrSamEllis hi Dr. Sam, i want to ask about eyebrow serums, if they also cause fat loss around the eyes??!! Help me please, i have big problem with my eyebrows, and I'm worried about side-effects of the eyebrow serums 😟
Hi I’d like to know about eyebrow serums too. I use Rumi Cosmetiques eyelash serum and brow serum now I’m worried!
I agree! I heard about this from another channel, but didn’t fully grasp it till you explained it!
@@DrSamEllis Great video. What about argon oil, does that do any good for lashes? Or brows?
Can you please recommend a few lash serums that work, and don't have any of the harmful ingredients?
I think the Ordinary one doesn’t have prostaglandin but double check the ingredients list to be safe ❤
What kind of castor oil did you use? Dark castor oil? Cold pressed?
@@yellowcherry710 I've used both over the years. At first I used black jamaican castor oil when I was in High School and then tried the regular cold pressed castor oil from Walmart and saw it works just as fine. It lengthens them but it doesn't make them thick. Noticeably longer in 2 weeks for sure. 1 week you'll see something though.
@@JAllen-tx3di thankyou!
@@JAllen-tx3di can you please tell me how do you apply the castor oil? thank you
I just put a dab on my finger tip and spread it across my lash line.
AnteAGE is supposed to be good. I'm trying it out currently.
@@niellalien hey, I was just curious, how’s that lash serum working out for ya?
@@niellalien very curious how you like it as well
I’ve been using Nyk1 and it is brilliant
Castor oil is supposed to be great for lashes hair and skin. I'm excited to start using it. I've heard nothing but positive things for this oil.
Can you share brands that are safer that some of your patients have had success with please?
Right - she has great lashes it looks like, not everyone has that luxury 🫠

As a fellow health care professional : THANK YOU! People need to know this info. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
is it true that if you stop using the lashes serum your eyelashes will go back to how it looked before using the serum?? i heard the results aren't permanent i really need to know 🥹
Results are permanent if you continue wearing it everyday, but for the most part, it's temporary once you stop.
@@ML-sw4ff thank you
I suffered from this with generic latisse which I probably used for 6-9 months. I had peri-orbital fat loss and the blood vessels in my upper lids were very pronounced. I also had blurred vision. It got so bad I had to stop. Luckily the “veiny eyelids” did get better but it took a good year to correct.
Wow. Thank you for that- you may have helped a lot of people- one of them is me. Appreciate it.
I hope my orbital fat comes back.. this stuff made my eyes look so old. I just stopped in December, so hopefully it will keep getting better.
Can u see better now
Oh wow thanks for sharing.

This was very informative, no unnecessary drama, just info. Love it.
Curious if there are risks associated with brow serums?
Would love to know this as well!
I too would like to know, such as can these serums (or any of their ingredients) increase blood pressure?
I have less hair on my eyebrows and I always worry about it. Then I get to know dermal md serum. And it really help me out. Now my eyebrows have some volume.
This oil based serum contains some powerful natural hair tonics like- Castor oil, Onion Oil, Etc.. promotes hair growth, fights infection and maintains voluminous eyebrows/ eyelashes. Easy to use.
Well, you don’t use lash growth serums, but it’s not like you need them anyway! 😍😍😍
I literally was going to buy this eyelash serum (despite of my eyesight) but after watching this video I changed my mind. Thanks💚
So happy it was helpful for you!
My eyelashes got longer, but not thicker and overall I looked much much worse due to the fat wasting and I was in my 30s.and darkening around the eye skin too
I have never used lash serums but such an informative video. Wow, those pictures made your point very clear!
A visual can definitely help emphasize a point!

I just started using it and this comment is so helpful

This is an excellent video, thank you!! I also think about the psychological aspect of this enterprise. The beauty industry is very adept at talking people into manipulating every single millimeter on their face. (I am still waiting for a nostril-enhancing serum.) People buy things for hundreds of dollars without questioning a single aspect and so the multi-billions continue to roll in. There seems to be a “if it’s on the market, I need it” mentality. I am getting a little tired of seeing people literally ruin their looks in an attempt to be “more beautiful.”
I’ve been using EVOEYE serum for years 😅 Happy to know it does not contain prostaglandin 🎉

I THINK (not 100% certain) that Revitalash doesn’t have this active ingredient.
@@AgendaInMind , Thank you that sounds logical even with no medical background and understand simple body parts function.
Is there anything I should know about these ingredients before using 🙏🏼💖
Purified Water (Aqua), Disodium Phosphate, Citric Acid, Cellulose Gum, Swertia Japonica Extract, Panax Ginseng Extract, Biotin, Sodium Chloride, Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Benzalkonium Chloride.
What about putting the serums on your eyebrows? Will this cause the same side effects?
Good question ☺️
Thank you.
Hi Sam, thank you for your informative videos. I have checked the ingredients list of my eye lash serum and it does contain Ethycloprostenolamide. Which lash serums are safe to use then? Thanks :)
That's what I want to know. What's safe to use? Some people use witch hazel. ???
there is Mavala double lash serum which does not contain prostaglandins and they actually took in consideration eye care when producing it, I personally have very sensitive eyes and a rosacea (or kind of eczema- has not been diagnosed specifically yet) prone skin around the eyes but I haven't got a flare up or any annoying sensation around or in my eyes while using this
so you could definitely try it and see if it works for you but a hint based on reviews it takes some time until you see clear results
I stopped using Latisse due to my blue/green eyes getting a brown spot in them! I still have that small brown spot in my right iris!
Hi! Love your Chanel. A few topic ideas; dark circles, how to heal acne scarring on face, how to clear back acne!
I meant to say how can I mitigate the effects of the drops?
Looks like The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Lash and Brow Serum is safe to use
Please recommend serums that dont contain that ingredient bu do strimilate the lash growth
Oh ! Thank you so much for this video ! I was just about to buy my first lash-serum - but noooo , I will stay far away from those ! Sigh ! 😨
Prob gets paid by the lash company to sell for it. Expose him ie his name!
Excellent information that should be plastered everywhere!!!
So the question is "Is the eye drop tantamount to a thin line exterior to the eyeball?" And if one detects the beginning of one of these symptoms, will stopping the product end the symptom?
So, is Latisse okay?
Edit: I just saw the last part -- Latisse is a no-no.
Thank you for spreading this information! I was very close to buying Grande Lash Enhancing Serum, which (I checked) does contain Isopropyl Cloprostenate. I also have very little wiggle room in my eye structure and don't want to risk. Thanks!
Thank you, Dr Ellis! Is using EyeBROW Growth Serums on the eyebrows as dangerous as the Lash ones? thank you again!
The concentration of the active ingredient in the prescribed products is larger than those which are not
Great video, but could you recommend safer lash serums please?
Thank you for this informative video. :)
Would you say UK Lash would be okay to use with none of the side effects?
The ingredients are as follows:
Purified Water (Aqua), Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Panax Ginseng Extract, Swertia Japonica Extract, Pentapeptide-17, Hyaluronic Acid (HA), Vitamin E (Tocopherol), Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), Vitamin B7 (Biotin), Vitamin B5 (Panthenol)
Sounds like it! Those are all peptides etc
@@sweetpeace5 thank you!
Would like to know the same
Thank you for this excellent video.
