I agree completely. We’re shown so much now (with filters, lighting, injections etc) that is supposed to be “natural beauty” but it’s just the opposite of natural. We see a ‘standard’ that is unattainable for the majority of people - which can crush self esteem - especially the young girls growing up now with these lies absolutely everywhere they look.

I understand what you mean, but from my own experience no matter how "natural" it looks , I can see when somebody had something done,. The more mature the easier we can notice. Something about body language and overall look that's a tell-tale about something is not agreeing in the overall look. That being said it doesn't mean that we should not improve your look if it bothers us, but I don't believe that cover up our age necessarily. In fact I heard that our body language sometimes can age more than our faces.

@@DreyaLynx I totally agree with you. The idea is not to fight aging because it is a long lost battle😅. But my goal using botox (not more than 1-2 x per year) is to relax that permanent frown and worried look I had starting from an early age. It softens it and that is all I am looking to do. Aging gracefully is best because it definitely shows when someone refuses to age and they still look their age but weird looking ❣️

I’m over 50 and had filler injected into my nasolabial folds, but it caused that part of my face to sag, making me look older. Despite attempts to dissolve the filler, the result still isn’t good, and I have a lump under my skin. The person who injected me was a trained RN with over 10 years of experience in fillers and Botox. I recently watched a plastic surgeon who explained that this can happen. He said fillers can weigh the face down and he was right. I will never get fillers again! It has worsened the appearance of my face.

After fraxel I now have large hyperpigmentation spots on both sides of my face!!! I’ve never had issues with the sun or melasma from pregnancy but this treatment ruined my face!! I’ve tinted my car windows, black out curtains at home, wear a large brim hat everyday while outdoors and layer sunblock creams several times a day. I’ve managed to diminish the hyp. quite a bit, but It’s a daily battle well, more like a lifestyle!! Lesson learned. I don’t think I’d ever do ANY of these treatments. Too scared!!

I’m not to judge, but need to express my feelings: I’m amazed and puzzled : I’m 56 and until couple years ago I did not know Botox and dermal fillers even existed !I was happy with the way I looked, understood beauty has many variations. Ok I see some signs of aging now, but I look with curiosity, not criticism. Are we being conditioned to be ‘imperfect’, needing to be ‘fixed’ or ‘beautified’ ( because it feeds the economy)?
Or, maybe I’m ’old- fashioned’? 🤔

    • @samarittan9308
      @samarittan9308 День тому +2

Yes, we have been conditioned as a culture to accept only youth as beautiful. The majority of men consider older women less desirable than younger women. Thus we spend billions of dollars and risk our health frantically trying to gain the approval of men. And before you say that it isn't true, "I do it for myself" . Please try to ask yourself why this makes you feel better? Most likely you'll come to the conclusion that it's because you have subconsciously internalized society's message that your value is based on your youthful appearance. Rejection of our appearance as we age is really a result of external pressure on us. It takes a brave woman to age gracefully.

Wonderful and informative. I am 71 and had my first facelift at 58. I resisted botox for 12 years😅. After my second facelift two years ago (yes, they don’t last forever) I agreed to botox in my forehead and never looked back. Anyone who is wavering should consider it. Even at my age, those forehead wrinkles are gone when my forehead muscles are relaxed and the botox is wearing off. It takes a skilled village and a line item in my budget to look refreshed! The bonus of all of this is no one asks “are you ok? You look so tired” anymore. ❤

One more comment- I've had botox twice in the past 18 months. I believe the benefits lasted a year on me, before I considered doing it again. I suspect the longevity was, in part , due to the botox helping me break certain habits of raising my eyebrows excessively and squinting. It did not make me lose my expressiveness. It did help me learn to relax certain muscles. Also, I am a "sinker" as well, and an area of obvious sinking on me was my temples. I had sculptra injected into temples and it gave my entire face a younger appearance. I was surprised at what a difference it made.

One of your best videos yet!! I literally had my first round of Sculptra this morning at 60 yoa. I was a nervous wreck, but my injector was fantastic! She put numbing cream first, then used lidocaine with the Sculptra product and I had very minimal discomfort and I'm a wimp! Im scheduled for round two in 7 weeks and now I'm not nervous for it. She used a canula for the Sculptra. She used two vials today, but may only need one the next time. I'm having one or two more treatments, depending on the look I'm going for. I just want to naturally look my best and I hope this will achieve my goals without a facelift. Once the Sculptra is completed, we'll discuss very little filler in my nasolabial folds and some minimal lip filler to smooth out my lips and lines. I'll then get my Sculpta maintenace once a year, and of course continue Dysport a couple times a year.

I'm just a few years younger than you, and I love Sculptra! I started with 2 vials last November and then had two more appointments (spaced out about 8 weeks apart) of 2 vials each. I was concerned about marionette and nasiolabial folds as well as some hereditary jowls that were starting to form. My injector (I see a PA) said replacing volume had to start at my temples and then go across my cheeks, which would then provide lift to help alleviate those issues. And it's worked! Even now, quite a few months after my last appointment, I still feel like my face is lifting ever so slightly and my jowls are continuing to dissipate. And the added volume is very subtle and doesn't look like something foreign in my face -- because it's not, as it's my own body's collagen. I will follow my PA's recommendations for Sculptra maintenance, which will likely be a vial or so every year. I still love me some Botox, but my Sculptra results have just blown me away.

An interesting tip my injector pointed out is that for people who don’t others to know they have had injections, she goes very light on crows feet, in general, because it’s one area that can “give it away” if someone has Botox since once most people are in their 50’s they have some crows feet, no matter what.
I took pictures of myself as a teenager to my consultation and the injector said that was helpful.

I’ve always been very open about injections and work I have had done and it’s really refreshing to see someone else speaking just as freely.
I started Botox at 29, now almost 56 and it has really done wonders in prevention of aging progression.
I do everywhere pretty much the same as you minus massater and forehead. I add bunny slopes on the side of nose, and base of middle of my nose.
The platysmal bands are an absolute Time Machine for the neck!
I do PCL and PLLA threads as my filler substitute and it does wonders as well. Just say no to filler “pillow face”!
I DIY everything, as I’m an RN, and just got so frustrated when my injector retired and no one else could get it right. Injecting is an art of balance and not every injector is artistic….lol.
Thank you for this video, I’m going to share this, because so many friends don’t realize all the areas than can be tweaked. You’re the first person I’VE actually seen openly talking and showing everywhere you touched up. You rock!

Thank you and please don’t hesitate to share videos such as these. I can’t afford these treatments and I’d wonder if they could be done on me because of my scars. They are very old as I was 17 when I got them but they’re extremely deep, as in half my face was hanging on by just a little bit of skin. My nerves obviously are completely messed up, so I don’t think it could be done. But just because I can’t afford it, doesn’t mean I’m not interested to know about it and be informed, especially as I have adult daughters, it helps me understand what they may want to have done and the safety of it. Never be worried to help people with your knowledge and education, it’s invaluable for many ❤

This was so good. I have been getting Botox in my forehead since 40 and never thought to ask for it in my lower face and will now. I also like your advice to go slow with fillers and not often. I see so many staff members at these clinics that stop looking “natural” from too much filler imo. I can’t help but judge a clinic by how their staff look. An over filled face scares me and makes me think that’s their standard for product use. It’s probably personal preference but still something I’m wary of.

I started Botox in my early 30s. Same with IPL (game changer for my skin!). I started getting a bit of lip filler in my mid-30s because I have tiny lips and slowly built them to be a bit more plump. I experimented with a bit of filler in the cheeks and some in my tiny chin. I got a quad bleph and platysmaplasty at 36 because turkey neck and eye bags run in my dad’s size of the family. So happy to have a jaw line now! I’ve also used prescription tretinoin since I was 18 for cystic acne. Not my face, but I also got breast implants and the saddlebags on my thighs removed in my early 20s and still love that choice at 40. I hope this helps people feel more open to try things.
