I have this exact battery for my trolling motor, and before I used it for trolling I used it for two years hooked up to solar on my RV. It's 4 years old and still going strong.
Glad to hear yours is holding up!
24 group is small 27 better but never had bad battery have 2 for 6 yrs@@TheFishingEducator
@@user-vv9qe5lm5h Thank for the advice...I'll give that a try.
Mine seem to be working fine
I’ve been using 6 29dc everstart maxx to run my school bus barbershop … full power lights, tv , mini split a/c, air compressor and more… I get more then 9 hours before my batteries are at 50% without running the bus or using solar .. I’ve been doing this for about 4 years same batteries 🔋 no issues .
Thank you for sharing your experience. All the best to you.
From an old NAPA manager: There are really only 2 battery manufacturers in America, Johnson controls and Exide. Look it up, it's a fact. No matter who you buy your battery from, Wal-Mart, Auto Zone, wherever, it's exactly THE SAME inside with a different sticker on the case. Just be sure you are getting the correct battery for your application (CCA's, Amp hours, etc). Generally speaking if it has a white case like an Interstate Battery, it's a Johnson. Black case, Exide. The biggest killer is extreme temps hot or cold, and overcharging which will evaporate the electrolyte fluid and warp the plates, rendering it useless.
Great tip...from a man with experience. Thanks!
De La is the only US manufacturer of commercial deep cycle batteries, exide and Johnson controls only make consumer products and shy from industrial applications.
What’s a good battery charger? I have a vintage one, prob 40 years old. I think it overcharges.
East Penn Manufacturing Is US. Don't know if Johnson Controls are made in America anymore..
I can verify this I hauled car batteries for years there are 2 now there are a few mom n pops deals still out there but there no where near the dozens of truck loads put out by just the 2 heavy hitters.
I am in snow cold Canada. I am currently using Kirkland batteries from Costco and Interstate from local suppliers. I would like to tell you how I over too many years kept up batteries for family boats.
For myself and my extended family I always trickle charge at the end of the season after first ensuring they all have filtered bottled water. All batteries rest on plastic styrofoam mats in an insulated cottage. A piece of mating is also between the batteries and the outside wall. All the terminals are scraped clean and covered with either vaseline or dialectic grease. Then I cover the whole battery with a garbage bag to keep minute particles of dust off. This probably seems unnecessary but as a system it works for me. Over the years I have extended some batteries as long as 10 years or more ! I also take real care to remove corrosion from battery leads and spray them with protectant at end of season. Every spring I further charge all batteries a couple of times. This also gives me a great excuse to get away from the city. Hope this helps somebody.
Yes, this helps a lot. Looks like you have a tried and true method that works. Thank you!
2 years for a $50 battery that wasn't keep up too well on a trickle charger and wasn't used to often...can't complain to much about that
Thanks for the comment.
Right. Go for lipo4 spend the money and look back in 30 years
My boat has Everstart batteries running the trolling motor that are still going 8 years later.
Thanks for the feedback!

@@eriwilnel the yellow MAXX ones are their car starting batteries, maybe top of the line for everstart. youtube channel Project Farm did a shootout that included them, they did really well, the best of the bunch i think, and they get good reviews from Consumer Reports as well. these ones are also MAXX, but a different type of battery. not sure about this "review", i''ll check for others.
@@eriwilnel thats why they quit making them. cause they werent making money
I had an almost identical marine ever start that came in an old truck I bought, swapped it into another junk car two years later, then put in a truck I was selling to my neighbor. 6 years later, he’s still using it in the “wrong” application as a starter battery, has lasted longer than my Napa batteries and duralast batteries. Amazed me to be honest.
Thanks for the comment.
I've had tremendous luck with both starting and deep cycle EverStart batteries. It's possible you got a bad one. Most people don't charge them until they're completely dead, which will kill a battery in a year or two. They're made by Johnson Controls( actually the company that acquired Johnson Controls) and manufacture about half the batteries in existence.
Me too. I quit buying high dollar name brand, especially since almost all major brands are actually made by Johnson Controls and are the same battery. Price reflects warranty. I got 7 years out of one (I used a marine battery in my classic mustang, as I knew it would sit much more than be driven). I then used it on a solar light project for another 3 years. I think you might have just had a bad one.
That is entirely possible. They are affordable for sure.
Ditto;
I’ve been a huge fan of the WalyWorld EverStart Maxx batteries. I have one in my 2010 Ford F-150 ( never left me down) and ten Maxx 29D’s that’ve been running 100 % off grid in my cabin solar system for the last 3.5 years And they’re still running strong. What more can you ask for?
I see so many videos of people trashing these batteries and have to wonder why, because these batteries have taken on everything I’ve thrown at them plus the kitchen sink!
Best battery I ever had in the past 2 years has been a Maxx29dc marine battery from Walmart. It pushes my 14 ft jon all day long with 36 lbs thrust motor. Never had issues with it, newer ones seem to have lost power output somehow, even though they were the same model
Thanks for the feedback and comment.
Agreed.👍 They're all I use in my off grid RV.✌️
Hell yeah
I’ve been using Everstart Maxx batteries for years. But....I use the maxx29. The 29 is actually a 31 series battery. I’ve had several maxx 29’s in different boats and with a good marine charger I’m getting 6-8 years out of them. With most of the lakes I fish, they are 200-300 acres and 10hp limit so I run the heck out of the trollingmotor. My days usually start around 7am and go to around 7pm even to midnight. I’m talking 12-17hrs on the water. I fish a bunch and very long hour days. If that’s not a true testament to maxx29’s I don’t what is.
Thanks for the comment.
Mine ever start trolling battery has held up great I have it on a smart charger all the time when not in use
Thanks... I think that is the key to a long battery life.
I have 4 Walmart EverStart deep cycle batteries in my garage. Two are 2014, one is 2015, one is 2016.. They keep on ticking.
Good to hear yours are performing well.
Majority of reviews for this battery are great. Better than most other brands from what I've seen.
I might have to give them another try.
My application is different than yours as I have six of these Walmart batteries wired in parallel for my home solar system with 600 watts of solar panels on the roof. I never let them drain down more than 75% even though they are called "deep cycle" as they are still lead acid design. when solar charging the voltage is 14 volts and I never let them drain below 12.4 . These were purchased in 2017 so we are going on 3 years. I would keep a trickle charger on them when the boat is in storage so the battery is always topped off after a full charge.
Thanks, that is my new approach and it is working with the new battery.
I bought mine at NAPA and it's a 24DC and was $120 with the core charge. Works and cycles well. I used it for my pop up camper.
Thanks for the feedback!
Always take a volt meter to the store & test the voltage before you buy. 12.6 volts or up. Anything less means the battery has discharged from sitting around.
Great tip!
12.6 volts is too low for a deep cycle should be above 13
Check sticker date too
I bought two EverStart marine batteries at the end of the season because they were on sale. Unfortunately I didn't get any use out of these batteries. I stored them on a shelf in the garage that is insulated. The next season I put them in my boat and they both lost charge fast. When recharging they didn't hold a charge and fluid levels were good. Walmart would not refund or swap!
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Came to UA-cam specifically to check for comments on the Maxx Marine and RV 29DC. Found a pair at Walmart that have been there long enough that they will be charged up and tested then sold as Used with printout of their state from test. Generally sold at deep discounts. Looking to put in my motorhome for continuous use. Vented, temperature control, solar maintenance charge and preventative maintenance level checks maybe 3 times a year.
Thanks.
Thanks for your comment.
I just bought 4 27dc'from Walmart!
I haven't hooked them up or even taken back the cores, but after careful con$ideration and calling several golf cart battery distributors I can say that I am 100% happy with my purchase!
I have ran 500ah's of agm batteries for 2 yrs before they failed and 4 Trojan 1275's for the last 4 years before they failed, the AGMs we're nice because I never had any maintenance, bad because they cost me $2.50 an ah or in my case $250 per battery for a two year run!
The Trojans at 150 amp her per 12volt battery gave me 600ah, or at least that is what I should have gotten, but only about 300- 400 ah useable, that only lasted 4 years and cost me several t shirts from acid burns plus a couple gallons of distilled water per month, if I remembered to water them... I paid $230 for each 150 ah battery.
The Walmart 27dc is 109ah for $81 or $100 per battery without a core.
That's just under $1.00 per ah without a core! And I get a one year
replacement warranty! Try taking back a battery to a golf pro shop!
The Walmart battery wins hands down! If you had a problem with your batteries, take them back and get a fresh new set! It's Walmart, I can add batteries to my solar battery bank every year without worrying about mixing new and old just by using the one year warranty, and yes the batteries will degrade enough in one year to make the warranty legit!
Thanks for the feedback!
Just put four of the 29 dc in my club car and it runs real good. The Trojan batteries were five years old and completely pooped.
I have 3 EverStart 29DC deepcycle batteries. I bought them in 2017. They are still going strong. How did you take care of your battery? Did you have it on a trickle charger while you were not using it over the winter? Did you preform proper maintenance on the battery? Is this the only 24DC EverStart battery you have used? If not, how did the others work? To say that all of them are not any good when you have had a bad experience with only 1 battery is not a review done in good faith.
I did not, but do now…game changer!
I've had the opposite experience you describe with the EverStart - I've owned many, and haven't taken too great care with them (though I haven't been particularly abusive either). I usually get a solid 5+ years and they're dirt cheap. You say yours didn't last you 2 years... do you realize Walmart would have replaced it for free? Even now, you can probably get a prorated price on a new battery if you take that one back. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but I think your experience was the exception rather than the norm. I'd recommend giving EverStart another shot.
Thanks! I have and so far, so good! Best of luck to you.
They only have a one year warranty, after that, nothing.
Just took 2 out of my boat bought new in 2015. 7 years no issue left outside in a cold building all winter every winter. When not being used they were plugged in.
@@bobcat1 I believe they have a model that has a 2 year warranty Im pretty sure
I like your video, but please say what the problem was, other than it was just bad. I would also recommend a small solar panel/charge controller for your boat to keep it topped up while not in use, and extending your trolling range while fishing.
The batter died...it did not hold a charge. Thanks for the solar panel suggestion. I like that idea.
I have the next model up from Wallmart. Have 2 of them in Parallel and i use it to power my ham radio equipment. I'm happy with them, they last good.
Great tip....Thanks for sharing.
Going on my 3rd year with an everstart group 27 101 amp hour battery. Running a 55 lb trolling motor, fish finder and occasionally lights. I can usually get 8 hours out of it before it goes completely dead.
Impressive...thanks for the comment.
It really depends on what the battery was used for. I run a 27DC on my trolling motor with no problems. I can get 4 years out of one and I go fishing weekly year round.
Thats exactly what I have. I run a Minn Kota 50lb on it and it will run all day and only use half a charge. Best $80 bucks ive spent.
How long has yours lasted?
That AH might be drained a lot for a 55 trolling motor so less cycles..also what charger do you have looking after it.
I have a 130 ah battery for my 55 so it’s less drained I have a smart charger & marine battery box so I know it’s low /full
Been keeping the new one on a charger...we will see how this one lasts.
I’ve been using my everstarts for 4 years. 29DC from Wally World $97 well worth it 2 year warranty.
18 months means free replacement
Thanks for the feedback!
Het remember me?.. Im the guy that gave you a tow back to the dock to go return your batteries to Walmart. 😂 love my interstate marine batteries, going on 3 years and strong as ever!
I have had a everstart batteries for my boat still using same ones from 2017 and they still going strong.
Thanks...keeping them charged up seems to be key.
Please tell us about the warranty! Sometimes things just don't go right did they stand behind it and replace it free of charge? Need to finish the story. My car starting batter is an EverMaxx and I'm completely happy. We need to know why! Thanks for your post.
No, they did not help...I agree, these are great batteries for a car.
New to this and got a camper now This type of battery will run your tv/PS4 right?
Not sure...its a 12 V battery so if you camper uses that, then you are golden.
Bought two similar 29DCs earlier this year to replace DCs from Interstate... I use them to power a trolling motor.... The casing on one of the Interstate batteries had cracked making quite a mess throughout the battery compartment... The ExerStart Maxx 29DC has a two year warranty... However, after only a few months, I started getting a charging error (i.e. Red LED) on my inboard charger... Pulled the batteries to test the cells with a hydrometer and found them to be so dry that I could only such up any water at all on 1 of the 12 cells across 2 batteries... It was not near enough to test... I called Walmart and they checked the level on a couple of new 24DCs and 29DCs that they had in stock... They too were very low on water (i.e. battery acid)... This is worrying... I am going to add some distilled water and see if they will charge... Curious to see if anyone else has experienced this and if they know why they are being shipped with what appears to be minimal water...
Thanks for the comment and feedback!
You have to water lead acid batteries every month!
Add water to cover the lead fins in each cell, you might need to put them on a charger for a couple days.
I'm big fan of interstate battery, have 2 the are about 7 years old, and still working well!
Thanks for the comment.
My set of Everstart 29dc just lasted me 8 years! My onboard charger failed this past winter and the batteries drained completely. They won't hold a charge now, but I have no complaints. My previous set lasted me 7 years. These batteries are the best bang for the buck, hands-down imo. They run all day in the wind on my 20ft Fisher aluminum. P.S. They have a 2 year warranty.
Keeping them charged seems to be the lesson I have learned. :)
I’ve been using a Everstart 29DC from Walmart for the past 8 years. Always checked the water level and charged it after every use. Never really used a maintainer (battery tender) on it and just had it checked this spring. The battery shop had to use 2 different machines to verify the overall health of the battery... Not because it was bad, but how well the battery performed for being an 8 year old battery!
Like another comment on here stated there are only 2 battery manufacturers in the US. Just keep it charged and maintain the water level. No need to spend extra money on fancy brand names. Of course once in a while a few are duds but that is to be said with everything.
Thanks for the feedback and comment.
I just had an EverStart 29DC blow up on me Saturday evening while using my trolling motor. I keep my batteries on the charger 24/7 when not out on the water. Little did I know that I had to check the water level in them...so now I get to buy a couple new batteries. 🤣🤣🤣
Batteries made 8 years ago arent the same beast.
@@andrewbrown6522 what is the difference since to seem to know so much. Please explain.
@@rbradley8941 i have no idea but i was in the towing business for 14 and the first half of my time i probably used the same battery while in the 2nd half i went through 5 or 6.
I've used the Everstart M-24DC in the past for trolling and just bought another. This is a marine battery but noticed the M-MAXX-24DC is advertised for trolling. M-24DC doesn't mention trolling. Is there a big difference and should I be using a "Trolling Motor" battery? Some are over $250!!!. I paid less than $80 for the M-24DC.
Just be sure it is a deep cycle battery.
Have had my everstart maxx 29-dc for 4 years minnkota power drive v2 works great
Impressive.
BS!
I tell all my customers to buy the EverStart deep cycles for their boats and it's rare that any of them ever have an issue if they actually maintain them!
Thanks for the comment.
Exactly. He just says BATTERY BAD! STAY AWAY! without making a case for that.
I have a 24v trolling motor on my boat now, just read an article where a guy is using one everstart deep cycle but using an agm wheelchair battery for the other one to help save weight. Said it works perfect.
Interesting....I bet those battery are expensive?
I've had issues with Interstate and walmart. Right now I've got 5 months on a Walmart and it only last good for 2 hours and I have a solar trickle charge on it. I'm pusing a 12 foot jon boat. Our local almart has no way yo check them out so I take them back and exchange them. like you, still looking for a decent battery/ I've had issues with the last 3 Walmart batteries. I fish about twice a week for a bout 4 hours at time
Hate to hear this for you...hope you can find one that is reliable. Tight lines!
ever start batteries from walmart bought in 2016 still working when we sold the boat last month, march 2021. Another boat i have also has ever start and have had them since 2017 and still working flawlessly.
Do you keep it on a constant charge?
I have the 27DC battery for the 55lb thrust Kota, 2 years, still get a solid 12 hours of battery and half just under half left
Great comment, thanks!
I have 2 of these in my trailer. Both are 101ah hooked in parellel to an inverter, been using them about a year and still seem to be OK.
Thanks for the feedback.
What does it power?
@@michix1882 I only have lights and a TV in the trailer but I have run air compressors, electric heaters, a skill saw, and lots of other stuff. My inverter is only 1400watts though so I'm limited to that. But we go camping for 2 nights usually and we have yet to run them dead in a weekend.
Have 3 everstarts on my personal boat and install everstarts on my customers boats all the time. They are made by johnson controls that brand batteries in different stores and names. Never had a complaint.
Thanks for the comment.
I have a deep cycle ever start battery for a trolling motor. Every time I take it to the auto parts store to charge it they tell me it's bad but I've taken my boat at least 5 times with the same battery and same charge until it drains. I think you need to keep them charged specially if you're using it on a trolling motor.
Thanks!
Ive had nothing but good luck with mine, just replaced a set of everstarts that lasted 7 years, although, i used them frequently and always kept the boat plugged in while not in use.
That's what I know to do next time. Thanks for watching!
I bought 2 29dc from Walmart (marine) in 2005 back when they were yellow and they didn't give up till 2015 in my ice cream truck running 2 inverters so.....yea not sure what happened with yours.
Thanks for the comment.
I have always had very satisfactory results using Everstart batteries. I use them in my vehicles and in my boat.....starting batteries and deep-cycle marine. Richard Browder, Tidewater Virginia
Thanks for the comment!
I used exide batteries for 3 years and replaced them with everstsrt. I had a bank of 3 group 24 batteries wired in parallel and abused them. I ran them down below 11v many times, boiled them when my charger broke, overcharged them, undercharged them, and they kept going for 3 years. My setup is a bit refined and better maintained with the everstsrt batteries and they are 2 years old with no sign of performance loss.
Thanks for the feedback.
Make sure the battery says for RV and marina. The best battery that Walmart has is the everstart 114ah 12 volts for $89. It comes with a year replacement warranty.
Thanks!
I had that same batteries on our RV , We had good luck with them. Bought them in 2016, just replaced them. They were put on another RV and is still working.
Sorry you had such a bad luck.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and kind words!
Well I use 27DC class of deep cycle marine battery in my 99" gas powered ram 1500 I bought one 5 year's ago, an its still going. I'm probably going to pick up another one an run a dual battery set up with 2 150 amp fuses to a battery isolator solenoid. Never had any problems with this type of deep cycle batteries. Aloha from the 808.
Greetings to you as well! I think I may give these one last try...thanks for the comment! Best!
I purchased 4 everstart marine batteries a year ago for a diy budget solar project. All have failed.
Sorry to hear, thanks for sharing your experience.
The duracell agms are good. The everstarts are decent. Interstate and everstart are both by Johnson controls along with a lot of other batteries. I've ran the everstart Maxx 29dc for some time and they're great for the price.
Great info, thanks!
The one you showed is made by Johnson controls for Walmart and they make several other brands. If you're going to use it for a trolling motor I would suggest you move up to a group 30 or 31. I have had great look out of the Trojan 225 SCS but they are expensive I have also had the Optima group 31 size battery and I didn't like it that much. I have been doing some research and the Walmart seems to be a viable choice just pick a bigger one.
Thanks for the suggestion!
I use EverStart batteries and have never had an issue, keep the water topped off and store it indoors in the winter and will last several years. Usually have to add distilled water every year but the ones I have now are 3 1/2 years old and still run at around 75 to 80 percent.
Great tip, thanks!
I've got two Group 24 everstarts for my trolling motor and everstarts for my starting and house batteries. They all last 3-4 years, especially with an on board charger with proper charging. Can't complain about cheap walmart batteries, they are not terrible.
Thanks...I now have an onboard charger and they are doing well.
I have 1 Everstart for my trolling motor. I do not re-charge it after every trip and yet I am on I believe year four. I use Noco Genius charger over winter.
Thanks for sharing...interesting, I just got a noco charger too...do you like it?
The Fishing Educator yes, I do. It’s only a 3.5 amp charger, but I only fish once a week...recharges in plenty of time. When battery goes, I’ll get two of the same kind, and install a dual bank charger. Friend recommends ProMariner20.
I had good experiences with autocraft batteries from advanced auto parts or Duracell batteries. I had both and worked great
How long have they lasted?
works great for me in DEEP CYCLE lower amp draw situations 7 years so far. too many folks use this as a starting battery or high draw and are disappointed...get a starting battery or larger capacity...🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for the feedback!
same problem with the 24DC. Bought it for my travel trailer house battery. keep it on a maintainer between trips. recently took it back to wal mart to have it load tested. It tested bad. It was just outside the 12 month free replacement window (by 1 month). They gave me $62 pro rated return, but I could only use it for the same model per their return policy. I'll probably keep it as a a back up, but will likely get an AGM as my primary.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
The wife and I just bought a new pelican bass Raider 10e with a new Minn Kota trolling motor 40 lb thrust and we got the EverStart deep cycle 27dc group. I hope it works out okay! That is what the trolling motor recommended.
Good luck! I think I may have not charged mine properly...always store it on a full charge.
Had the same battery that I use for my 55lbs thrust trolling motor battery for 5 years been good just switched to a 29 DC battery hopefully it works as long as the 24 DC did. My opinion is it's a pretty good battery for the money. Hope this helps god bless.
Thanks for the info. Blessings to you as well!
That battery only has a year warranty so that's got to give you a clue right from the start! The other battery that I recommend highly though it cost some money, is Odyssey. They are very good batteries!!
Thanks for the info! I’ll check out that battery.
The Maxx line of EverStarts are really good in my experience. I have 4 in my 5th wheel and all of them are five years old.
My boat battery is a 24ms Everstart and its 7yrs old.
No battery will last if you don't take care of it. They have to be on a maintainer when not in use. You also can't run one down to say 50% and let it sit like that for months, it probably won't recover.
If you go through multiple batteries and you can't get at least 5yrs out of one, its not the batteries, its you.
Great advice! Thanks!

NOTE AGAIN SOON TURN OFF MAIN THEN PUT ON SOLAR KEEP UP CHARGE! YOU PUT LEAVE ON ONLY TROLLER MOTOR BATTIES 12 OR24V, TROLLER HAS NO STATOR CHARGE BATTIES UP! { ONLYON TROLLER BATTIES YOU LEAVE SOLAR ON WHILE IN USE} ON WAY HOME SAFE PUSH POWER BUTTON OFF UNCLAMP! READY NEXT USE!!

Auto zone, interstate uses the same supplier as walmart (better off getting it at walmart though..) because walmart offers a better price 50$ less or so
(and the AGM still has a prorated 5 years while autozone does not..) also walmart has 24/7 locations or at lest till midnight (and open at 6am)locations while autozone closes at 10pm and opens at 9am?
I have a everstart in my car for 6 years now and one in my lawn tractor over 7 years still going strong il buy again soon
Thanks for the feedback.
the maxx line of EverStarts i have good luck with them. the one i have i got in 2016, & well still going good. you want to put it on a maintainer, walmart sell some amazom sell a lot of them. the type of maintainer i like are the Battery Tender Jr line, or the BLACK+DECKER BM3B. the black & decker one have holes on it that you put it on a wall or something. i have it on the fire wall in my rv, & alwasy works.
Thanks Eric!
I have an everstart from like the 80s haha I bought used off an older man. I treat it horribly and so far it's still working after 5 years of use by me
Thanks for the comment...looks like you got your money's worth.
@@TheFishingEducator I actually got an 800 dollar kayak custom fit for a motor, a hull roof rack, 30 lb troll motor, battery, vest and oar for 350 off craigslist haha such a good deal. My battery looks like a much older model and like most things arent made like they use to be
Ever start group 27DC, I use 6 of them, 4 in the RV, 2 in the boat. I have never gotten less than 5 years of life. No lead acid battery will last long if continually being drained below 50%.
Great tip, thanks!
I got the same battery and use it for 10 years. Finally gave it on me. Looking to buy another one. Maybe you just got a bad one.
I think that maybe the case...just got another one and it is holding well so far.
I use interstate deep cycle (4 in both boats)... last several years so far... but the key, regardless which you choose, is to keep them on trickle chargers when not in use
I agree and think this is what might have happened.
@@TheFishingEducator its also possible that your battery was factory defective in some way. Hopefully walmart did an exchange for you
Have 2 of the same batteries but group 29. ABSOLUTELY LOVE MINE. one is 7 yrs old. The other is 10yrs.old. My Yamaha charges them to about 70%.
So after each trip they are put on the charger.
Thanks for sharing your experience with these batteries.
I just had to exchange my everstart deep cycle marine/rv battery after having it only 15months. Luckily it was still under warranty.
Thanks for the feedback! I am switching to Interstate...so far, so good
@@TheFishingEducator Everstart and Interstate batteries are made by the same company. Everstsrts are great batteries! Been using them for years. I usually get 5 plus years out of cranking and or trolling motor batteries. If you're not??? It has to be either a cheap charger. Or it's something you are not doing. If you do alot of fishing... Check the water level in them once or twice a year.
I have two interstate batteries for my 24 volt trolling motors. When was a Minn kota maxxum and the new one is a Garmin force. I don't have any issues out of those batteries I've had those since 2018. I used to have a EverStart marine battery that I use for a think it was a 40 or 50 lb thrust trolling motor. I didn't have any issues out of it. I kept it on the triple charger and when I need the little boat I would use it. I have a Duracell deep cycle battery that I use for my electronics on my boat and I've had it since 2019 to 20 and it has a small leak or escape of battery ass on the top of it yet it still works good. I'm about to buy another EverStart marine battery for a little small boat I just bought. It's for my trolling motor and electronics. I really think batteries are just luck of the draw. Use it hard if you know if anything about it, swapped that thing out while you got a chance. Otherwise is going to work a long time. I haven't really had a battery that failed on me other than the automotive battery I got from o'reilly. I actually don't like batteries from O'Reilly's. AutoZone duralast batteries actually last a lot longer, but they're all from one of two manufacturers anyhow. So I really think that battery performance is based on how the battery is charged and discharged. I take great care to keep mine on chargers that not only charge it but condition the batteries. So I have spent a lot more money on the charger that I'm using on the battery.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience.
Dude I use Walmart batteries and have had really great luck with them just got the Max 29DC with a 2 year warranty for my RV the key is maintaining them for long life.
Good to know! Maintaining is the key!
Greetings, I use a 29DC in my minivan as a pseudo house battery and am considering a second one and charging via relay kit from alternator. Please chime in.
I bought one bout month ago used it very little then charged it and within two weeks of sitting in boat it went near dead.taking it back today
So sorry....did you keep it on a full charge?
I had to take 2 marine deep cycle batt back 2x. Everstart Maxx marine 775 Crancking amps. It sucks.
Thanks for sharing your experience. All the best!
I cant comment on how this battery performs with a trolling motor because I dont have a trolling motor. However I have two of these on my boat. A cranking and DC battery both group 24. I run a 700.5 JL audio amp, spreader lights, underwater lights, courtesy lights, live well and other accessories. My first set lasted over 5 years and never once left me stranded or with a dead battery. I dont have a trickle charger nor do I charge them with an external charger. I will continue to use these batteries and they are really the best bang for the buck
Thanks for comment.
I am currently using 3 x group 27's in my house bank now on 3rd season without complaint.
Thanks for the comment.
I can't belive you respond to all coments even it if not a cool coment you are very polite. Very helpful video and coments. I think I'll try one everstart deep cycle battery for my shed because is cheap and I hope to have a good experience.
Always rise above!
Most deep cycle batteries only last 2 to 4 years . I had great luck with ever start batteries. About 6 years ago I replaced my trolling motor batteries . One was 7 years old and the other was 11. I knew they were old. But I was shocked to see one of them had lasted 11 years.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Everyone having success with this battery what charger or chargers are you running when the boat is not in use?
Great question....I am interested as well.
I live on shores of lake erie. Thousands of boaters and allot them use Everstart. Ive used them in my boats for years and never a problem. Few years ago I switched and bought Expensive one from Napa and that only lasted little over year. Sometimes you do get bad battery. But hear allot good about Everstart. I have everstart on my RV
brad Vincent I’ve had nothing but good experiences with everstart as well
Thanks...I am trying them again and keeping them on a charge.
I bought this battery for my boat. It's a jon boat and it only runs a 28# Minn Kota and a $100 lowrance. I've taken my boat out only twice with this battery I bought brand new. Both times the battery died within 2 or 3 hours on the water. I came on UA-cam to see if there's something i can do to it (like maybe it's not filled all the way or filled with the wrong stuff or something). Its been many years since I had a boat, then I only used Delco Voyager to run my bass boat that would last all day, literally.
Thanx for your advice. Might just have to invest into a Delco Voyager or something more expensive with a good track record.
Make sure you have a good charger and keep it charged...might help.
@@TheFishingEducator I do charge my battery to full capacity every time I bring it home when I take it out. I decided to get a good battery and try to return the one I had. They tested it and it was defective and I'll get a brand new one in place of it since they dont do returns anymore on defective batteries. I'm picking it up today and I'm just going to sell it because I dont need 2. I have a coworker who's interested. Thanx tho. Keep up the good work.
Really great luck with the group size 24DC 690MCA BATTERY FROM WALMART….
They are AWESOME 😎 MY IN SERVICE DATE WAS 38 months ago and it’s still going strong.
Thanks for the info
Interstate gave me 6+ years in my RV, and that's without removing them in the Utah winter like you should. I leave my rig plugged in 365 and it's quite a hassle to remove them.
Trying DieHard Gold this time. 3yr warranty.
Thanks for the comment.
Interstate is phenomenal. I've fully drained my 6 year old interstate battery on more than one occasion. always starts right up with a jump and charges properly.
With that said, you said you'd had it a year in 2019, so you bought it 2018, but the production sticker says 2016. Sitting isn't good for batteries, they need power cycling. So that may have contributed to the issue. The warranty on the marine maxx batteries was 2 years, so you could have exchanged it if you had the receipt.
Agreed! I have my new one on a constant charge now...so far, so good. Thanks for the feedback!
same problem with same battery. just over a season. I have a start battery and a deep cycle, dont last for either
Thanks for the feedback!
I got one for my car in October 19 and the battery was no good in March of course the receipt faded had to buy new one
Thanks for the comment.
That battery on 55 lb thrust will only give you 1.5 hrs of juice at max speed. For my 40lb thrust minnkota recommends 110 amp hrs group 27 battery which will give me 2.25 hrs runtime at max speed. I also run 2 humminbird fish finders off it too but they don't pull much power. To calculate battery life at max speed use this formula. Battery amp hours x .85 divided by your max amp draw to get your total runtime on full battery at max speed. So for your battery in the video it looks like this. 93 amp hrs x .85 = 79.05 ÷ by your max amp draw (yours is 52) = 1.52 hrs.
Great info....sounds like you know your batteries!
Mine failed pretty fast as well. I guess I expected it for what I paid
From the replies, it looks like I need to do a better job of keeping the battery on a charger at all times.
@@TheFishingEducator Just have to have them on a battery maintainer when not being used.👍🙏
I bought an ever start marine battery in 2012 and it’s still going strong today! I can’t believe it.
I think you got a lemon.... March 2021
Thanks for the comment.
I have been using Everstart batteries on my boat and the current set of 3 for my inverter has server me well for 7 years. Well worth the money and the warranty is untochable by any other marine deep cycle battery mfgr. My starter and accessory/anchors lighting batteries are still going strong. Recent testing indicates I'll get at least another year for a total 8 year service. Ordering 3 new now latest when I saw this video 🤯🤨
Thank you for sharing your experience.
I use them for 700W solar system, I have some everstart since 2009 and they are good, for small solar systems are highly recommended for botes don't work the same, I bought one more 2021 only because I order more solar panels, my experience with this brand ( everstart, 27 dc 750)was excellent.
Thanks for the feedback!
Series 31 and 27 everstart batteries have been in my boat since 2015 and still going strong.
Thanks for the comment!
I have had good luck with everstart. My Grandpa runs Interstate in boats, cars everything but they are pricey. Can never go wrong with napa batteries either!
Hey thanks for the suggestions. :)
I have a 4 year old everstart that works perfect. Maintain it and it will work!!!
Thanks for the feedback. I agree.
Last set of EverStart 29 lasted 7 years . Never took them out the boat in the winter just put a charge on them once a month for a couple of hours . And my current set of EverStart 29 have lasted 4 years and still going strong .. And I have 4 of them in my boat and 2 onboard chargers ..
Great feedback...thanks for posting!
I have the 24Ms marine lasted 6 seasons but its just for starting and runs ff gps. I almost bought that one but I figured 6 yrs was good so I got another MS24
Thanks for the input! You have done well!
Did you maintain the battery with a float charger?
I did not.
All 3 of mine are dated 2013 and still running. 1 is cranking and 2 are deep cycle.
Glad to hear you are getting good results!
