  • bought in June 2022. failed and replaced on February 2023. I used them in 2 set ups. one 12v solar set up and in a 24v system.
    they stopped working under load. walmart replaced them today. kudos to walmart. but these batteries aren't good for anything but light loads. so don't use it to pull 30 to 60 amps running ac in the summer on a solar system. they didn't last for me. for now I'll keep replacing them under warranty as long as I can. I'll also try harder to make sure they are balanced.

    For all the people bagging on lead acid longevity. I’ve used one of these with an inverter to run light bulbs at our hunting camp for the last four years. Compared w lithium I can buy five of these.

      True and plus I just need to charge my laptop on the go since I game with hot spot and in the winter I wanna get a small heater and connect an inverter to the battery to keep my car warm, so this is more than enough tbh for me

      And if they die, you can sell them in recycle centre.

      @@sasajovic2824 Try to find online from UPS systems, they keep them 24/7 charged, but once a few years they have to replace them, so you can buy 99% new bateries even for 10% of price. I just bought GEL 40ah for 30usd

    have 4 Wally World marine batteries in my solar house backup. 2x2 24volt and they can run all the120volt power in my house all night. and still make coffee in the morning. 2 years old and still work perfectly. from minus 2f to 115f. fixing to add 2 more. my average draw at night is 350 watts per hour. they have 5 kw of storage , I use about 3.5 to 4. before the genny or solar panels kick in.

      At least 2 . 100ah would be good but really considered something else like lithium iron phosphate

      Look at the top of the battery, you could pop it open and literally look inside and tell what kind of battery it is. This is first day stuff man.

    These batteries can only handle 50 to 60 full cycles before they go to sub 30% usability. I recently bought a converted van and the previous owners also had two of these batteries, (hooked to 2 200watt panels) one was completely dead and the other was 30% when I got it. If you want to save money in the long run an agm/lithium battery will save you in the end. I personally just got the renogy 200ah agm battery, which can handle well over 3000 cycles.

      I’m guessing you’re right but Why wouldn’t standard non-AGM car batteries work for solar, considering a car battery lasts a long time in my car? Is it because it is always being topped up? If so would there be a way to manage them to keep them topped enough to last? Maybe have six of them and not deplete them much each night?

      I have no clue if this would work but maybe if you are near a stream or river you could run a water powered alternator or something to generate power? Idk anything about this, that was just a idea.

      @@bobdobb9017You need ah (amp hours) You want golf cart batteries 6v 230ah so you need 2 for 12v ideally … There is a 114ah 12v deep cycle, Marine battery at Walmart that others are having great success with for $120.. For the $$$ you won’t beat lead acid… If you’re using for boat or Rv and you have $$$$ go with UL listed LifePo4.
      If you have the space and weight is not an issue Deep cycle lead acid or Agm.

      @@hamradiohack I'd give them 3 years depending on how you use them. Mine lasted 3 years and a few months, had 4 marine batteries in series, parallel for a 24v system in my RV. The Walmart brand just sucks, I changed all of them and got 5 years so far on my new system for my RV and still going, (using marine batteries NOT from Walmart) . I use lithium batteries for my house though way better!

  • @rm6857
    @rm6857 Рік тому

    If you charge them with 5kW and discharge pulling 60A of them, you basically killed them.

    • @hamradiohack
      @hamradiohack  Рік тому

      The panels arent going to force 5kw into them. Ohms law. Solar panels dont do anything much till theres a load on them such as empty overly discharged batteries. However your probably right that i discharged too much from them. My goal was to let the batteries act as a capacitor while the inverter uses the solar . Infact theres a mpp solar LV6548 that can operate battery less. I dont use the system when theres no solar production. Also i think i learned that the batteries weren't balanced properly by me so one was always overcharging while the other was undercharging. Its the price you pay learning from mistakes

    • @rm6857
      @rm6857 Рік тому

      @@hamradiohack Panels dont force it, but that LV6548 can force 120A into batteries, what i have read. Just depends on settings you put there, and which voltages you set for charging and discharging. You use them in series to 48V system? If your goal was to use them as a capacitor, i would recommend using very small lithium battery for same price with INR cells/chemistry, they have very high discharge rates even if its small capacity. I would be interested in your voltages and charging rates from that LV6548.
