You’re welcome. It does but other Lights in the scene might affect it too. You can turn the intensity of the hdr image on the same tab you used to add it. Then use other lights to help light the scene and get shadows right
It might be the HDR that you're using. It is the light so it might create a source that makes soft shadows. You could try changing it and see. Worst case scenario, you can render a pass for shadow separately and make it as dark as you want in compositing.
Super helpful and simple thanks 😀
Awesome! Glad to hear.
Nice and snappy, thanks, Terrence!
Tried this tutorial and magpies appeared and started cawing in the viewport, very helpful
Yeah, it's a bit annoying but they do that sometimes.
Cool, I was only here to find out how to get the grass actually reflected in the ball with shadows intact. I've done this before (can't remember how).
You can remove the plane from the reflection.
Go to object -> visibility -> Ray visibility and uncheck Glossy
Thanks! This is what I was looking for.
Thank you but what i want to see the plane? I have a complex scene and i need shadow cather and the ground same time.
bro how you can change the shadow hardness and direction ? i don`t know how i make a soft shadow with this hdri becouse i don´t add any light
Thank you this is actually what I needed cheers!
I'm glad that it helped! Thanks for watching.
how do you contril hsdaow density, falloff and softness?
Thanks for a simple and clear video!
One question - does the shadow depend on HDRI map? My scene gives a faint shadow

I think you should decrease the volume of the background music slightly, it can get quite distracting at times.
Is there anyway to just decrease the opacity of the plane so that it would not be included to the reflection of the model?
How do I get my shadow dark like yours I can’t barely see mine

@@terr20114 you righr broski, i was using EXR from Nvidia Canvas made an AI hdri. but it wasn't casting good shadows
@@_casg Great to hear it! Glad to know that it worked out.
Is it possible to do this in Unreal Engine? Thanks!
i don't have shadow catcher option
It sounds like you’re using the eevee rendered. You should switch it to cycles. I showed that I was using cycles at 0:26 seconds in.
bro i cant see the shadow catcher in my blender? please
Are you using cycles as the render option?
helpful
Glad I could help!
