I think you need more shoe shelves where you can see every pair - the bin is easy to toss into but stuff will be buried. Eta: finally finished the video (while painting the bathroom ceiling) - great job not only culling but getting that stuff out of the house!! That's my bugaboo, I have a big pile of donations in the laundry room.

I found you channel a few months ago and love it. Your military delivery that started it all made me remember my childhood. My dad is retired military and when we went to New Jersey from Hawaii we had our Hawaii delivery and then our Mississippi storage delivery. I’m sure my mom felt like you did. I remember boxes everywhere. Of course that was a long time ago. 1969. Lol. Your bedroom and jewelry video helped me today to go through my jewelry (grammar and high school, my moms and grandmothers stuff). Thank you for the inspiration!
Anyone else feel like Clinton Kelly and Stacy London were about to jump out of a corner as she was going through the clothes on the bed? Just me? Ahhh I miss that show so much! This was awesome!
The pretty boxes- transfer your keepsakes that are in you closet. You need the same clear bins in you closest that you bought for you kids' toys. You are adorable and so motivational! Thank you! 😊
awesome job! yes, i am resting. its a breezy 62, so ate a Caesar salad and drank coffee while watching you, now i'm going to put on some instrumental music and read Jennifer L Scott's book. Becoming a connoisseur of daily life. i decluttered my clothes a few months ago. i hate my narrow closet, so i have 5 labeled folding boxes that fit under bed. i am stalling on the weight loss for now. i dont have money to buy new clothes. But i'm proud that i lost 50lbs in 2 yrs & got A1c glucose from 6.9 to 5.4 on keto regimen. and donated everything i didnt like or dont wear.
Never feel bad for getting rid of clothes that don’t fit!! You are doing SO amazing on your health journey. You deserve clothes you like, that fit and feel good on your body today. 😊 And I love how much faster you are with the process now from the beginning. Amazing progress!!
Yes. I noticed you didn't have to try any if your own clothes on. You had such a small rotation that you already knew if something didn't fit, felt uncomfortable or wasn't liked.
I’ve watched this several times and what really resonated was you reacting on a sensory level to clothes that don’t feel right. I so needed that. If it fit I pushed through the sensory quirks of the item until now. Thank you. And it’s so fun to see non butterflies suggesting closed drawers and non clear bins….yeah fellow butterfly best I can do non clear is a pretty steel bin with butterflies on it on closet floor I kick my shoes into. I hope this goes viral on you you deserve all the love for this video. I had a huge donation bag that just went thought I was quite minimal but a secret bd huge bag just went and besides fitting, with my eyes closed they actually feel good on. Such a basic concept I missed until you reacted strongly to how things felt. Thanks!!!!🥰🇨🇦
(You could use those boxes storing your memory items on the floor) I loved how you so quickly sorted and decided! I'm so inspired! I loved all your verbal decision making. A big help. Thank you!
Leaving a top you've worn inside out is genius not only to help you recognize it as such, but to air it out better as well. Talking everything through in your videos is always very helpful too.
Hi Erica. Brilliant declutter 👏 I watch but don't comment but I was moved to on this one 😂 Thank you for talking and sharing the process and steps because it is helpful. I would suggest as you've shared you're a butterfly visual organiser to hang EVERYTHING up and by outfit so top, skirt or trouser, layer, belt (if part of outfit) together so you see your outfits together and not have to choose an outfit. Move the items up off the floor so it will be really easy to sweep the floor. Keep your items in that closet and move Andy's to the other closet. Have a think or give it a try! I'm not a fancy person either 😂 Functional, comfortable, easy wearing all the way 🙌
"I one-armed it, though." That's just one of the reasons I enjoy your videos so much, Erica! You keep it real & you don't take it all too seriously i.e. no perfectionism in your process, plus you mix in humour along the way. I also really appreciate how you share, in real time, your thinking process for what you keep & what you don't--very helpful!!
Yes Thank You important step to see taken to the drop off donation yes I love fancy high heels 👠 I have my red heels waiting for that special day to wear too!!
We use boxes like that for memory boxes. Occasionally, we go through them for the real memory bins. It's a good place to toss things in after vacations 😉
Pausing at 20:20 - In my world, those are lovely boxes and much prettier than the ones you have in the corner of the closet holding sentimental items. I would transfer the contents of the mismatched boxes into those and place them on a shelf to decorate my closet.
Thanks Erica for this big dose of motivation! Hubby and I are planning to fit out our walk in robe with better storage to replace the two hanging rails. I had planned to do a sort out so I was only storing what clothes/shoes I need. Then you bought to my attention the clothes that I’m hanging onto that don’t fit me anymore because I lost weight. Why do I feel so guilty removing too big clothes from my closet?? So as soon as I finish this comment, my entire wardrobe will be dumped on the bed and I will only put back what fits me and I like. You inspire me.
You are amazing Erica! And this video is a perfect example of the onion method. Things you weren't able to get rid of previously you look at now, and think, duh why have I kept this? You often say emotionally you need to let it go and you give your self the time for that. Now we know the space you needed was a couple years (for shoes and blazers). You are a phenomenal role model. Your self-talk really helps me think through my own process .🥰
Erica! I had to quit watching your channel when you really got into IF. I’m recovering from eating disorder and had to protect my mental health. When you said your focus is on health and accepting your body, it made me so happy for you ❤️. AND I can subscribe again 😁
My god Erica, I have been following your Minimalish journey silently and liking your videos. This video forced me to comment 😃 your decisions are swift and precise. No second guessing, loved watching this video. Great going and not only because you dropped your size but your confidence is making you look beautiful!!! Loved your black shorts and green top😊Love all the way from India.
Those shorts you bought from Thread up look amazing on you. I knew in the beginning of the video you were a girl on a mission. I did a major declutter similar to this, and I have come to love not Having a lot of clothes, makes getting dressed so easy. Also I have in the recent two years developed sensory issues with material, I like soft, comfortable material NO polyester and all of a sudden I have a dislike for leggings, which I used to love… Last week I did a jewelry declutter, and I felt so happy afterwards, I was able to sell a lot of Brighten, and two bracelets that were high end costume jewelry, I only kept my 14k and a few pieces I wear all the time. I am extremely happy having less of everything. I did need a few summer tops and I shopped at TJ max.. can’t beat the prices and when ever I buy from them, my clothes last…. I so needed this video today, I was having a stressful, day, it has helped me. Your channel is truly my favorite u tube channel… adore you Erica ❤️
@@EricaLucasLoves love it RAGE PURGE Like I said after following you so,long, as soon as I saw u, I knew you meant business Closet looks great, and everything you kept I love. And those black shorts omg they look amazing on you…you did good
I hang my jeans/pants (folded in half over a regular clothes hanger) and this helps keep my clothes organized and more visible to locate what I want/need. I also hang my tank tops. You should try this as it may prevent the shelves from becoming disorganized and cluttered, and you could store other stuff on the shelves like your bags/purses. I also agree with other comments that you could use the 2 pretty boxes for your sentimental or jewelry. You have been doing amazing decluttering and have come such a long way.
When I'm decluttering anything I also try to think why I got the thing in the first place and take a memo what kind of thing I'm not going to use even if I like it. I try to remember it when I'm buying something new to me so it's not an endless cycle of decluttering my belongings.
Getting rid of the clothes that we don’t wear is the best. The one thing I’ve ‘invested in’ has been a sweater shaver. I’m currently on the hunt for a somber event mix and match outfit. I like layering so I can wear more seasons.
There's something so satisfying about physically dropping off the items at the donation center. I'm 38 weeks with baby 3, so we have been going through closets a lot this past month. Always surprises me how much stuff we still find to donate
I agree with you, whatgwenloves, no matter how much you donate, you look again and you find more stuff to donate. That happens to me! I did a massive declutter last year and today I found some stuff to donate. 🤣 Of course I donated that stuff.
Hi Erica! It is a rest day for me…recuperating from pneumonia. You are a total inspiration in your minimalish journey and your efforts toward better health. You go, girl! I’m proud of you! 💓
Thank you for taking us along. I always enjoy your dialogue with yourself about your items. That was a great clean out! You’re showing me we have to get honest with ourselves in our closets!
Erica I’m so incredibly proud of your progress.🥰🥰🥰I remember when your basement was full and your childrens’ school room was full of supplies for the next several years. It’s just amazing how far you’ve come. Meanwhile I’ve barely made any progress.😖 I just need to physically feel better.
That is soooo freeing👍. I just did the same thing a few weeks ago and finally unburdened myself with clothes that was too small, too big, hadn't worn in years, sentimental and items with tags on them (including 10 pairs of shoes and 23 bags/purses).😁Best part was my closet afterwards!😁
Seriously!!! You are such a hero to your fellow SistAs♥️ God blessings yo y’all Love your Alberta Canada fans! If your ever coming to Alberta Canada we would host you all! We are a veterans family.
I have been watching you since summer 2019, when it all began (I began my minimalish journey then too!). To see you now is to see a totally different person! You look great, you have a wonderful attitude to life, and I just love your content you put out. Thanks Erica! I'm off to declutter now 😉
I'm one of the people who just lay on my bed and enjoyed the video. I'd never have the energy to do all you do. I still wear some clothes I bought about 15 years ago or more!!!
Good job!!!! I was always so surprised how many things you would get rid of, and how much was still in your closet...in previous declutters. Now your closet looks great! I'm not a fancy heels person either... But I have kept 2 pairs for a very long time. 😋 I've had toddlers for several years, and they tend to try to knock me over. I struggle with dresses. I don't enjoy wearing them but they're "required" (socially expected, publicly shamed) at the place I attend church. But lately I've been rethinking religion... So, maybe I'll be donating most of my dresses soon.
My big declutter will be when I get my summer clothes out , I tend to wear dark colours , I’ve decided all my winter clothes are going they are years old . Then I’m off to buy bright colours but be more mindful what I buy x
It was a joy to watch. My mom was raised in the depression and she instilled in us not to get rid of things you may need later. I will be 70 in January so this runs so deep in me. I can’t get around it. I can now and then get rid of a couple of pieces of clothes, but not often. Oh, and I loved that green top you had one!
I think this is the same reason I feel like I do about getting rid of clothes. My mom always said to keep things to save money and "it will come back in style" and "you might need that someday". I'm so tired of these things going round and round in my head when I know that I have no good reason to keep things. I'd love to donate my entire closet without guilt but it's never gonna happen.
My mum is the same but it is really possible to get rid of those guilt thoughts! Now instead of 'I might need/use it someday' I think 'someone could use it TODAY' and for 'it may come back into style' I say 'someone out there loves this style NOW'. I have seen so much stuff get bad when boxed for 'someday', it makes me sad. I want to give it away now when it is still usable and makes someone happy,, not throw it away in xx years because no one can use it anymore.
Thank you for sharing this closet declutter. I have been scared to do a big declutter on my closet, afraid of the chaos it would cause. You made it look so manageable, I think I’m ready to try. I’m also impressed that you defined different places to donate. Thanks for the encouragement.
Your video just popped up and it was right on time for me. Today I flipped all of my hangers to see what I actually wear. I organized my closet with all pants, short sleeves, long sleeves, tanks & dresses together. Your video was just what I needed to see. I love your little pep talks you have with yourself. I also have pep talks with myself. I'm now a subscriber and can't wait to watch more of your videos.
She can hardly reach the higher rod. It's too high for her height. I only have one rod in my armoire (1 m wide) and I like it to be around my eye level). It fits all my dresses, trousers, shirts and sweaters and I don't have more than 6 items in each category.
Omg I can’t believe how much you decluttered. Well done 👏 on dropping everything off which really is so important. You are helping so many others with your donations too. Great to have the kids involved. I would use those boxes for your sentimental stuff. Stay safe and healthy. Mary, Joes wife 💪👍👏💐🙏🥳🐕🦺
Wow! Great job, and I bet you feel like a load was lifted from your shoulders. I did something similar several months ago and will probably be ready again at the end of summer. Thanks for sharing your self-talk, too, it’s very helpful. ❤
I have been watching you from the start. When you were in the attic and there was even some ( fiberglass)? That had broken. A year or more later there was a video you were on a timer snd running around putting things in its place. I recall back you put it on the other side of the wall. ( on the floor) and thought hmmmm. So. I took a break. Missed you because of your upbeat personality. This video seemed more what I’m looking for. Sincere. Blessings
Idea for the two pretty boxes ... you could transfer the sentimental items that are in your closet in generic boxes into those pretty boxes. 🥰 Great job paring down your clothing! Erica, you have grown so much since you began your channel!! Your confidence and self love 💗 I'm so happy you've been able unburden yourself in so many ways; letting go of our physical clutter is about so much more than the stuff! Great work! 👏👏👏
I loved your comment "this skirt and I are not friends." Well said. Our clothes are meant to serve us. If they are a source of body shame, purchase guilt or just dont feel/look good, they must go! Bu-bye, skirt! :-)
I like how you do your content. Not sure the right words. You’re real and feel like how I do about stuff! Thank you firm helping me. I now feel I have permission to have less.
Every time I watch this I’m inspired to clean out my closet - works without fail!! I’m aiming for off season clothes to fit with 2 small storage bins in the top of my closet & after todays declutter, I’m almost there!! Just 2 snow jackets that don’t fit so I’m pretty happy with my progress!
You are a GENIUS!!! I love the idea of hanging something inside out to know that you've worn it, but it isn't "dirty"! ❤️❤️❤️ Maybe I can clean off the side of my tub, aka my holding area, now!
you should transfer your sentimental keep stuff that is in your closet into the pretty boxes that you emptied. ☺
I was going to say the same
Me too !!!!❤️
I thought the same thing, perfect sentimental boxes
Yes! Off the floor, out of the hair

‘And I love my body shape’
I’m actually crying, thank you for role modelling body acceptance.

That was a ruthless declutter. You’ve done a great job at building your sorting muscle. IDEA: Pretty boxes can be used for sentimental corner.
My thought too! Those pretty boxes are ideal storage for sentimental items.
That's what I thought as well.

I totally agree with you on the shoes, having a hanging shoe organizer made it easier for me to keep track of my shoes and see what I have, but also keep a limit on how many shoes I can keep!
Does it fit? Does it have pockets? You get to stay 🤣🤣🤣. Love it. My main criteria also.

those boxes would be great for your keepsakes that were in shoe boxes!

I still wear some clothes I bought about 15 years ago or more!!!
the relief and freed up mental space in you is almost visible on your face at the end. so happy for you, you are such a smart and beautiful woman.
I could read this comment 100 times. ❤️
Thank you for sharing your thought process as you declutter it's really helpful. I got excited for you, your closet looks so peaceful! Great job!
Loved when you said: “this is a fancy skirt. I’m not a fancy person.” Really ruthless!! Such an inspiring video! Thanks a lot!
I do the inside out for once worn clothing too. My mind is happy as long as the hangers are all facing the same way.
YES! We are friends. I need the hangers facing the same way at all times.
Those flowery boxes would be good for holding the sentimental things in a good looking way.
Thank you for sharing this closet declutter. I have been scared to do a big declutter on my closet, afraid of the chaos it would cause. You made it look so manageable, I think I’m ready to try. I’m also impressed that you defined different places to donate. Thanks for the encouragement.
I like the inside out idea. It’s much better than draping it over a bedroom chair. I’m going to give it a try.
Great job. I would hang my tops on the higher rod, so dog hair doesn't get on them.
Cat hair for me..
She can hardly reach the higher rod. It's too high for her height.
I only have one rod in my armoire (1 m wide) and I like it to be around my eye level). It fits all my dresses, trousers, shirts and sweaters and I don't have more than 6 items in each category.
@@marinard6293 I cannot reach 😂😂😂
Omg I can’t believe how much you decluttered. Well done 👏 on dropping everything off which really is so important. You are helping so many others with your donations too. Great to have the kids involved. I would use those boxes for your sentimental stuff. Stay safe and healthy. Mary, Joes wife 💪👍👏💐🙏🥳🐕🦺
This is massive, you made a very good job. Actualy I am surprised with the amount as you are purging your closet continuously.
You did really great.
Wow! Great job, and I bet you feel like a load was lifted from your shoulders. I did something similar several months ago and will probably be ready again at the end of summer. Thanks for sharing your self-talk, too, it’s very helpful. ❤
This is the best closet decluttering video to have ever existed. It is perfect.
Thanks!! That’s so nice.
I love that minty color on you 👍😁
Me too! I also think coral/peachy/blush would look great on Erica, and am rooting for her to buy a top or two in that color too :)
@@marinard6293 thanks! I will look for those colors!!
Thank you! When I shop for colors, I know I’m feeling good about my figure.
Sincere.
Blessings
Fabulous job Erica. Very impressed and a really enjoyable video :)
A suggestion to use the pretty floral boxes to hold pictures you have in the basement, to keep them from getting dusty.
Idea for the two pretty boxes ... you could transfer the sentimental items that are in your closet in generic boxes into those pretty boxes. 🥰
Great job paring down your clothing!
You are gaining strength in decluttering. What a great job, you give me hope to do the same. Thank you. 😊
CONGRATULATIONS on one year intermittent fasting!!! You are so right... "Feeling wonderful" is the goal (not losing weight).
Wow. You have become my new go to, nottitallynew, butto watch old decluttering vids and all for inspiration
❤️
Love how real you are in all of your videos! The new green top looks great on you.
You are a GENIUS!!! I love the idea of hanging something inside out to know that you've worn it, but it isn't "dirty"! ❤️❤️❤️ Maybe I can clean off the side of my tub, aka my holding area, now!
You have such a natural style with your videos - so easy to watch - totally relatable - and funny! I watch them all 🥰
