Great video!! I was sooooo STOKED when I saw that they came out with the electric griddle!! Just love our Blackstones 🙌🏻 Just got my griddle 2 weeks ago at Walmart. 😘
Thanks! This has easily become my favorite kitchen appliance and although I thought I would use it a little here and there, I use it almost every day and am always looking for something to cook in it!
As far as smash burgers getting smashed, use parchment paper on top,of the burger ball of meat and then you can use the metal smasher without fear of scratching the surface.
I just bought one and I was wondering what all I can cook on their and you have done a wonderful job giving a variety of item. I am going to Sam's to get that butter. Great job
Great Video! I ordered mine yesterday. Walmart had them in Mobile, Al but I didn't want to drive there to get it then all of a sudden it showed up yesterday with free shipping. They had 4 and evidently they weren't selling at that store so they offered to ship it. Again...great video!
Thank you for making such a great video. May I recommend using your metal burger iron with some parchment paper in between your griddle and burger. This way the metal won’t touch the surface of the griddle and scratch or damaged the griddle but it will do a great job smashing the burgers.
I like the Blackstone electric griddle. I have a stainless steel Little Griddle by Sizzle-Q that I use with my Weber grill. I like that it can be positioned over the burners so that different heat zones can be used and with the ultra-high heat of the grill steaks can be seared to perfection. But having a large indoor griddle like the Blackstone in the Winter is a plus! Blackstone also has egg rings to stop them from spreading too wide on the griddle.
Interesting that you mentioned the Sizzle-Q. I bought one some years back and although I have never put it on the grill, I used it on my stove. Even though it was completely not designed for that, it actually works pretty good. I did end up getting the egg rings and have used them quite a bit since I try to cook everything I can on the Blackstone.
Good point, I'm a little too "smash happy"! My goal is to have thin patties similar to Steak n Shake but I probably need to start off with a smaller amount of meat for that.
@@AllAmericanMack start off with balls about 1/8th pound. Mix your spice blend into it as you make your balls. Smash with metal smash plate but use a sheet of Parchment Paper between it and the burger. Won't scratch the surface, and you'll get a much better smash crust.

I think Blackstone hit a homerun with the E-Series. Electric will have a few small drawbacks over gas like slower recovery, but all in all, I think it's a winner.

SMASHING THE BURGERS….. Your could always use a small piece of like parchment paper, & lay your spatula on top & press down with a seasoning bottle.. other than I always just use what I already got out on everything I cook on!! I just got the 22” version. Mine has a crown in the center. A blackstone rep said that it’s manufactured that way and it’ll flatten out over time. Has that been your experience?
Well, my 22" has been resting comfortably for a good while now so I haven't looked at it in a while but I don't remember it having a crown in the middle. It might, I just don't remember noticing it. However, it will be coming out of retirement soon and I will check.
Yes, very much so and it's still my favorite kitchen appliance. Some people have said theirs began to have issues with sticking after a while but as of yet I haven't had any problems.
Ordered the 22” with stand for my wife for Christmas. I anticipate we don’t use the stand but I couldn’t find an option that didn’t come with the stand.
I haven't seen an option for it without the stand either. I've only cooked on my 22" once while it was on the stand, I just use it as a place to store it.
What a great vid! Only issue was right at the end you wanted to cook your steak and 450, but you never actually clicked ok so it stayed at 500, but I bet the crisp was jstu as delicious! I am enjoying mine as well, going to cook somethings that you did now!
Wow! Surprised you were able to get sear on steak. Do you think the butter helped? I have many griddles and love the gas Blackstone but boy its a pain for me to maintain. I just picked an electric up at Wally World on clearance for $45, so thought I would try it. Just want something that will sear a steak, grill fish and shrimp but clean up easily. Also like to cook bacon outside so it doesn't smell up the house. I guess searching for the perfect griddle! Good video!!
I think the butter probably did help. Man, I'd pick up another one if I found one that cheap lol. I have a 26" or 28", can't remember which, that I never use for the same reasons. I like it and they certainly have a lot of advantages over these little electric ones but cooking *INSIDE* in the *AIR* *CONDITIONING* wins out every time! 🤣🤣🤣

One simple question, how many non stick frying pants have we all thrown out? Ceramic Teflon and all others all end up in the dumpster. In the long run. You will never see a high-end chef using a non stick PAN. And yes, I agree with you, hotspots are a good thing. It's how a real griddle works at a diner.
It just seems like it should have better splatter protection it will probably take you at least an hour to clean up mess in surrounding area wouldn't it be better to have dual control just wondering.
There are going to be a little splattering but I've never found it excessive and it just takes a minute to wipe up. I have the larger 22" version with dual heating elements and controls but find the recovery time is longer on it than on the 17". But you do make an interesting point and I could see the benefit of dual controls in this model.
I’m sure this hasn’t been said, but the hood acts as a counter weight to the griddle top. I did a preheat with the hood off, and the rear of the griddle lifted because it has nothing to keep it in place like the front does.
Very disappointed in the hood design. When moisture condenses on the inside of the hood it pours out the back of the griddle onto the power cord and table top when you lift the lid. Very dangerous and messy. Should have been designed for the condensation to drain into the drip tray. But it cooks like a champ.
You're right, maybe some type of intergrated channel that emptied into the drip pan would be better. My surface isn't level so I haven't got the condensation on the power cord but I get it all on the lower side and just place a rag there to absorb it.
Amazon. They are sold under a lot of different brands but most of them are the same. Here are the ones I have. www.amazon.com/grinder-Electric-electric-adjustable-coarseness-automatic/dp/B085PRW34Z/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=salt+and+pepper+sweet+alice&qid=1627941715&sr=8-9
I still really like this griddle a lot, even after 3 years and haven't had any issues with it including the food sticking issues some others have reported. With that said, I know full well that the ceramic coating only has a certain lifespan so I'll keep using it until it becomes problematic. I agree with you that I would have liked to at least see a cast iron option and maybe we'll see one eventually. I'm probably going to get a Vevor or one of the other similar griddles next and a big plus is being able to use metal utensils.
That's a good question!! I couldn't find mention of either the 17" or the 22" last time I was on Blackstones website. There seems to be a big demand for the E-Series that is outpacing their production and/or distribution.
I’m seriously considering purchasing one but can’t decide between this and the 22. People are complaining the 22 does not cook evenly at all. Also how do you know what temp to use for different foods? Thanks!
Having had both the 22" and the 17", I prefer the 17". It is a little less cooking surface but the recovery time is better than on the 22" and it has less hotspots. Someone had commented that they tend to use 400° for most things and I've found that it was pretty solid advice. There's a small learning curve for the temps but I now usually start the griddle at around 450° or maybe a little higher depending on what I'm cooking so that it doesn't cool down too much from the food. Then I adjust the temps to 400° or whatever I want after it's recovered.
Got my 17” today. Made bacon sausage eggs and pancakes. Everything turned out wonderful and cleaned up like a dream. I’m still confused over so many different temps that I see people doing for chicken and pork chops etc. I made everything today on 385. But thinking maybe 400 will get the job done faster without burning my food
Yes it is and it gets used regularly. I've been told that when cleaning it, don't use soap because it can harm the non-stick coating over time. I just use a paper towel to wipe it and it cleans up fine.
For me it was the larger cooking surface than what a frying pan has and the ability to better control the cooking temps. I won't discount the fact that I think it's pretty cool too lol. When I bought mine, I knew I would like it but I didn't know that I would love it and would end up using it way more than I initially thought. I used to use those cheapy $20 griddles but the non-stick coating would always end up wearing or coming off after just a little use and I got tired of replacing them so often. For me, this griddle has been not only my favorite kitchen appliance but well worth the inveatment.
I've seen them pop up a couple times on walmart.com in the last two weeks but they sell out quick. I'd say sign up for in stock alerts and maybe check the website regularly. 400 seems like a good all around temp and I'll try that out. Thanks!
They are hard to find in the store for sure. I just checked walmart.com and there was 1 in stock though. www.walmart.com/ip/Blackstone-E-Series-17-Electric-Tabletop-Griddle-with-Hood/776744798
These new griddles are getting some attention because Blackstone finally made an electric version for indoors. I looked at the 30" with the griddle kit at Lowes a week ago and as much as I would love to have the gas version, I don't have anywhere to put it.
That's a steal! I usually never see those great deals at the Walmarts in my area and I check frequently. I've been looking for a larger outdoor Blackstone and they were discounted about $20 here this week.
@@AllAmericanMack thats awesome ty for getting back to me, im going to put this on my list, im dying for a good burger and steak with an outside grill taste! have you tried anyother indoor grills?
Unfortunately you can't cook from frozen with the Blackstone. I've said it before and it's still true that this Blackstone is my *favorite* cooking appliance *BUT* check out the video below of the Ninja Foodi Grill if you're looking for more of an outdoor grilled taste. I haven't found anything that gives the outdoor grilled taste more than the Ninja. Btw, there are several different versions of this grill but they all have the same grill function so any of them will work, some just have other additional features. ua-cam.com/video/ZqxcJ6X2xvM/v-deo.html
I wish they came in carbon steel, cast iron, or stainless steel 😞 if they did I get one. I don't buy any non stick of any kind the coating doesn't last and easily scratched then no more non stick. People that buy black stone rather seasoning their flat grills and have a grill that will last.
I've been having a hard time trying to find out if this is weather rated. Do you know if it's okay to leave this outside on the porch to get rained on; or do you have to bring it indoors every time you use it?
Although I haven't seen anything regarding outdoor use, I think because it's labeled as an indoor griddle it shouldn't be left outdoors. Rain and moisture would surely seep into it around the temp adjustment knob and would likely get into the digital display. I don't know whats inside the unit under the plate below the heating element but I'm sure there are some electronics and circuit boards there that could get damaged.
@@AllAmericanMack I believe that you are absolutely correct. Rain, or any kind of moisture, will damage the griddle's sensitive electronics or at least set it up to electrocute somebody.

Thank you for the reply- I’m thinking of going with the 17” as well.
Just like the stove you use in your kitchen...
By trial and error...
Great demonstration. Thanks
Nice I’m gonna buy it!!!! Is it still in good working shape? Thanks
Yes it is and it gets used regularly. I've been told that when cleaning it, don't use soap because it can harm the non-stick coating over time. I just use a paper towel to wipe it and it cleans up fine.
What makes this different than just using a regular fry pan? Since its just a non stick coating? Im trying to justify buying it lol
I'm hooked! Going to buy 2 of them lol
I don't remember how long I've had mine now, maybe 6 or 7 months and it's still my favorite appliance. I think you'll really like it.👍
Still can't find one! I do almost all of my cooking on a 36" gas Blackstone. I would have kept the temp at 400 degrees for everything.
I've seen them pop up a couple times on walmart.com in the last two weeks but they sell out quick. I'd say sign up for in stock alerts and maybe check the website regularly. 400 seems like a good all around temp and I'll try that out. Thanks!
Could you please tell me apps how long the power cord is. Great review, thank you.
i can’t find one. walmart is sold out.
They are hard to find in the store for sure. I just checked walmart.com and there was 1 in stock though. www.walmart.com/ip/Blackstone-E-Series-17-Electric-Tabletop-Griddle-with-Hood/776744798
Great vid and Good Eatzz 🤙
Thanks for watching!👍👍
If the grill is ceramic you should be able to use metal utensils. Did Blackstone say no?
Thx for the time
Thanks for watching!
The griddle looks awesome, the well done meat however.....well you know.
ok now I want one!!!!!
I love this griddle and there's so much that can be cooked on it, plus it's fun to cook on! I highly recommend getting one.👍👍
We got a 22 inch last week
You convince me to buy one now😂
Lol. I was with a friend last week and they had seen my videos with it and wanted one so we went to Walmart and got one that evening!
How do you clean up the pan
Why not smash the burgers before you put the on the grill? That way, you can use the heavy duty steel smasher.
i just got a 22" so gonna see how it does. I wonder how wagyu will go on this...
Great review thank you
Those are what I like to call “mash browns.” Too undercooked for me.
how is the smoke inside the house?
It's not bad at all. We've never noticed any appreciable amount of smoke from it.
Great video. Subbed.
Thanks for watching!👍👍
I got mine ordered from Ace Hardware a 22 inch.
Awesome 👍, let me know how you like it.
How do I change from Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Can't use metal on the indoor grill
Shouldnt use metal unless it's cast-iron or steal.
You lost me at well done.... lol!
Great video though.
Are the orange lines a hot zone?
No sir
The orange lines are an indicator that the area has reached the requested temperature
What kind of salt and pepper shakers did u use ?

Thank u
Parchment paper
I have the 30 inch that I got from Lowes. No one ever mentions it , wonder why.
These new griddles are getting some attention because Blackstone finally made an electric version for indoors. I looked at the 30" with the griddle kit at Lowes a week ago and as much as I would love to have the gas version, I don't have anywhere to put it.
Just bought one on clearance brand new for a steal $40
That's a steal! I usually never see those great deals at the Walmarts in my area and I check frequently. I've been looking for a larger outdoor Blackstone and they were discounted about $20 here this week.
Good for camping.
Put parchment paper under the metal smasher and you’ll be fine
I got a perfectly flat and round smasher off Amazon, I can smash them down real flat without touching the cook top. Easy peasy
It was metal as well
Does it splash every where??
After using it for well over a year. I've found there is minimal splatter outside of the griddle, not enough for me to worry about.
@@AllAmericanMack thats awesome ty for getting back to me, im going to put this on my list, im dying for a good burger and steak with an outside grill taste! have you tried anyother indoor grills?
@@AllAmericanMack can you straight from freezer to blackstone?
Unfortunately you can't cook from frozen with the Blackstone. I've said it before and it's still true that this Blackstone is my *favorite* cooking appliance *BUT* check out the video below of the Ninja Foodi Grill if you're looking for more of an outdoor grilled taste. I haven't found anything that gives the outdoor grilled taste more than the Ninja. Btw, there are several different versions of this grill but they all have the same grill function so any of them will work, some just have other additional features. ua-cam.com/video/ZqxcJ6X2xvM/v-deo.html
@@AllAmericanMack ty so much, have you tested the TFAL or the Cinder grill?
I can c Jimmy Dean sausages and some potatoes Obrien Orida style to go with those eggs and bacon mmmm
Now if only Walmart could deliver!!!!! So far they are batting 0.
They will deliver from their website!
Are you happy with this griddle please come at back and let me know
Yes, I've been very happy with it. It's still my favorite kitchen appliance after 2 years of using it.
If you turn the steaks off instead of lowering it would have came out a little better
