    It's not trigger creep in the P-01, it's the hammer camming back. watch the hammer as you pull the trigger, you'll see.
    When my grandson got his carry permit, I opened the safe and said, "Pick one". Of course, he picked the CZ P-01 w/Dawson night-sights and LOK Palm-Swell grips. Now I need to get another P-01.

    I absolutely love my CZ P01. Its one of the easiest guns I own to shoot accurately. The grip angle, low bore axis, and contouring all make it extremely comfortable and low recoiling. The all metal construction is very nice as well.
    A few things to note which I learned after some time spent with my P01:
    After roughly 500 rounds the trigger really begins to wear in. It becomes more consistent, smoother, and more crisp. Dry fire will help speed this process up, just keep in mind that its a good idea to pre-emptively replace the firing pin retaining pin every 1500-2000 rounds. The trick is that dry fire hammer strikes do count towards this total and should be kept track of.
    A set of thin Lok G10 grips are a life changing addition to any P01. The factory rubber grips are nice but begin to move around some with age, and can be very slick when wet. The Lok G10 grips solve those problems. The textures are great and the thin profile made the longer than normal CZ length of pull much more manageable.
    Mec-Gar make some of the best P01 magazines on the market and are significantly cheaper than CZ branded mags.
    I've been casually eyeing a PX4 Storm Compact for quite some time now and will likely end up purchasing one soon. I love the rotating barrel design and think the PX4 Storm deserves a chance to prove itself. I will definitely have to upgrade it to a "G" model decocker only though as I believe that 99% of the time a safety has no place on a defensive EDC handgun.
    Finally if you fall in love with your P01, as I expect you will, you really should check out the CZ P07/P09 as a cheaper, polymer framed, DA/SA option. After purchasing a P07 I tend to use my P01 as a weekend warrior/fair weather safe queen, and let the P07 do most of the dirty work. The P07/P09's polymer frame and more modern slide coating makes the handgun significantly more "rugged" than the P01, and if/when you do manage to damage a P07/P09; they're 20-25% cheaper than most P01s which makes the damage much easier to stomach.

      Thanks for watching David! And for all the insightful information as well. I need to smooth out the trigger on my P01 a little more with some shooting. Had to do the same with my SP01. Luckily CZ provided some snapcaps with the SP01 so I was able to dry fire it quite a bit.
      I hope to someday get my hands on either a P07/09. Probably the 07 for its smaller size, since it would be a carry pistol. For my body frame it is harder for me to conceal a longer slide.

      I got my P01 cerakoted so I’m not concerned about the finish. Just hit the 600 rd mark and it has been flawless. I also have the P07 but haven’t spent a ton of time with it, think it has 450 rds through it, its a safe queen for now. It has had a few malfunctions but they could have been ammo related.

    If you're going to do aftermarket upgrades - you go with the P01 so you can "Cajunize" it, aka upgrading the trigger, hammer, springs, short reset etc. If you're not going to do any upgrades or put another $400-600 into the gun, just go with the Px4. I mention Cajunize for P01, but this is just the term for a Cajun Gun Works build, you could technically buy a CZ Custom job too, but ultimately the idea is the same.

    CZ barrels don’t tilt up when they unlock from the slide. Instead, they start with the chamber higher than the muzzle - pointing down slightly, which is why the rear sight is so much higher than the front sight. When the barrel unlocks, the chamber end drops down so that the barrel becomes parallel to the slide. This helps prevent some muzzle rise during recoil, because the barrel doesn’t flip up at high speed.

    • @DrRichMahogany
      @DrRichMahogany 5 місяців тому

    • @texmexshoots
      @texmexshoots  5 місяців тому

      So it tilts but starts from a lower angle and basically tilts to parallel? Fascinating, I appreciate the info. I could see how that would help with the angle of the recoil. Especially in conjunction with the low bore axis.

    Alarm! Alarm! Someone on the Internet is wrong! And that someone is you. 😉 Neither of these guns uses delayed blowback, both of them have barrel locked into the slide. Those are two different things. Simple blowback starts opening immediately and only relies on the slide inertia (and perhaps spring resistance a little, but that's usually negligible) to have enough time for the bullet to leave the barrel before too much of the cartridge case is exposed to high pressure; delayed blowback also starts to open immediately, however the slide movement is slowed by some other mechanism besides simple inertia (usually some kind of lever or rollers or gas piston &c.) whilst locked systems do not start open immediately, the barrel is locked into the slide and travels with it for some time with the chamber entirely closed, and only after unlocking it begins to open.
    Otherwise very nice video and thanks for it. I own CZ P-01 Ω-which has somewhat improved trigger over non-Ω version-my primary carry piece for some time, and also Grand Power P-40 (in 10 mm Auto) witch uses rotating barrel similarly to the Beretta PX4 and I like both the systems. Greetings from Prague, Czechia.

    Both are top shelf, can't go wrong. Out of the box, the nod goes to the CZ. The PX4 needs a few things (I think new released PX4s address these issues). (Edited to clarify: the main "issue" with the PX4 is the batwing safety which is needlessly wide and painful to use, and many prefer a 'decock only' over the safety. Beretta offers a slim profile and "decock only" version, which I have installed on my PX4. It's much better. In fact, apparently new model PX4s this year will eliminate some/all of these issues.)

    I have both pistols. When you check the trigger pull on the CZ you have to set the hammer using the decocker because it only lowers the hammer 2/3 of the way down unlike the PX4. That should reduce the trigger pull weight and give you a more accurate measurement. Also a better comparison to the px4 would have been the P07 which is polymer not alloy lower.
    Lastly your grip. Put yojr support thumb higher on the slide I especially with the px4. It will help prevent pulling left.

    Does the Px4 have the half-cock position like the CZ?, also can the CZ be put in safety at the half-cock position?

    • @texmexshoots
      @texmexshoots  3 місяці тому +2

      On the PX4 with the Safety/Decocker, it does have somewhat of a "half-cock" position, in witch the main spring has been compressed a little. However It does not take any of the weight off from the double action trigger, it only shortens the pull.
      As for the CZ, if it is the decocker version (no safety), the hammer falls to the half-cock position when decocked. In the version with the manual safety, you can carry it cocked and locked.

The cz has its drawbacks like spring breaking or the rod breaking if you dry fire too much but that’s all I can think of. They’re about the same price. I appreciate the advice. In the end my experiences are subjective and I'm not a competitive shooter or mechanical engineer. I'm just some guy who likes shooting and going to the range. But I will try to give a more thoughtful explanation to the differences between the firearms I compare.

    For me the beretta is to ugly to take serious. If you have never shot a p-01, you have missed out on something special.

      You're not the first to make that suggestion. Glocks are great and reliable handguns.

      I understand what you are getting at FlattieDaddy, but it is instinct for me to continuously check the condition of the firearm. Thanks for watching!

      Thanks for watching! I love the Jericho too. Just wish it wasn't so heavy. Although the weight makes it very soft to shoot.
