Henry Accuracy problem, Service Update & Sight In

All aboard the FAIL BOAT as I spin my wheels attempting to sight in my Henry lever action 22 magnum rifle H001M. Luckily Henry was able to fix the keyholing problem I was experiencing in the last video. However, I continue having issues attempting to sight in the rifle using a Skinner peep sight. Thanks for watching Brad! Sounds like you have a great collection. I think I may have misspoken about the safety affecting the trigger. Although they may have been added at the same time, it is the rebounding hammer on the 39a that many people don't like as compared to the original. The mechanical change that operates the rebounding hammer affects the trigger pull.

    @frankhinkle5772 5 днів тому

    Yes, that is frustrating. But, Henry did fix the rifle, whatever the problem was, and got it back to you quickly. No keyholes! I think you need to try another ammo weight just for more data. The new cardboard was an excellent idea. I see that at my range, trying to teach a new shooter in that little NRA bullseye target, and not being able to track the misses. At this point, all you can hope for is consistency so you can diagnose the problem. Thanks for taking us along. BTW I'm doing a 10/22 project for a friend. That's kind of fun for both of us.

    • @texmexshoots
      @texmexshoots 5 днів тому

      Thanks Frank! Anytime I get a large box or any other big piece of cardboard, I stash it in the garage. Makes it a whole lot easier to put up targets on the palate. What kind of 10/22? Target? Take-down? The 10/22 is the most customizable 22lr on the market. And has been for decades. The next step for me will be putting a scope on the Henry and like you suggested, try a few different loads. Hopefully I can find one that it likes!

    2 things. 110 gr shoots low due to higher velocity = less time in the barrel for recoil to effect it. 110 gr load also has less recoil so tighter groups. That’s why every one shoots better with a .22 LR.

    I saw a video recently where the guy was shooting 45 acp out of his super redhawk using special moon clips. He did say the accuracy suffers, but it was still possibly with these moonclips he had. Surprised the hell out of me.

      I would be a little hesitant to do that. It is possible it could cause damage to the cylinder that is not mean to shoot such a short round.

    I bypassed the rebounding hammer to erase the misfires . But if you do that make sure you use the manual cross bolt safety . As the half cock notch is not designed to work without the rebound .

      Thanks for the info! I read the same thing over at Rimefirecentral. Haven't decided if I am going to do that just yet. I was able to get a hold of a new firing pin and I am going to try that first.

    Thanks TexMex! I may have missed the part 1 as I don't recall seeing it. I'll go back and look. These have come a long way since I first got mine some 15 years ago. And it is huge too. It is sitting on top of my gun safe in the original box back behind me. It is an ATN Aries Series night vision scope. I just took it down, put in new batteries for the scope and IR and it works like a charm. It's just heave as a boat anchor. LOL One day I'll get a new one or a thermal scope.

      This one isn't light. It made what would normally be a lightweight AR much heavier. But it works great! Thanks for watching my friend!

      Unfortunately I do not reload ammunition. Probably would have saved a lot of money if I had picked it up as a hobby years ago.
