CZ P-01 is great for my personal carry, and I don't run an optic for carry anyway. I'm just looking for simplicity, reliability, good feel when shooting, quality, hammer instead of striker, decocker instead of safety lever... I'll much prefer the CZ P-01 any day.
at 0:40, the decocker as you can see is actually a half cocker. its basically the DA position, but also drop safe. thats how the gun was designed to be carried.
I have 2 of these CZ P-01s and use one for EDC. NATO Certified! Check out what's required to get that designation! Extremely reliable and highly accurate! Wouldn't change a thing!
Good video. I really like CZ and the P-01 is a magical ccw choice. Mine is at cajun now for upgrades and optic cut extremely excited for those to be done and have her back home.
What optic are you going to use. Also, did you have them change your iron sights? I want to have cowitness and don’t know if the factory irons are too short
There are no compacts "of today" that I'd take over my CZ P-01 for EDC, including any striker fired CZs. Hammer fired with decocker and metal frame is still king for me. I don't know why CZ doesn't start cranking out more P-01s to meet the demand, versus just pushing their version of a mere striker fired Glock.
This was my exact dilemma. I had narrowed my choices to the PDP-f and the p01. I chose the p01 and I have never been happier. The gun comes right up to my sight lines like it was made for me. Better then any gun I have shot
I do see them around, not usually at the big name stores. Unfortunately most LGS don't stock a ton at a time, buy they are normally available to order through distributors.
I bought mine from ' red rifle ' gun store in Carson CA. I went in for something else and I saw this little gun on display table with 20 some other hand guns. I pick it up and held it and it just felt so good in my hand that I purchased it right then. The store owner told me p01 is an excellent gun. Nothing but the good reviews..I'm glad I bought it. The hardest part was waiting 10 days for my back ground check to clear.😊
I just bought one last week - I pick it up this Saturday! I carry a PCR - fantastic gun. I also have an SP-01 that I have out getting ported right now. I "needed" the P-01 to round out the collection.
Btw I have an original CZ 75 SDP Compact and it’s never been shot. 😆 The other is the PO-7 w/trigger job but no short reset Swapped out front site for red fiber optic and rear side is now combat black version Both triggers feel good 😊just have to get to the range etc
I rotate between a P01 omega and a CZ 75D Compact from The Custom Shop. I also have a CZP01 in ODG and two additional 75D Compact, all fully stock and Absolutely love them all. The only other Compact I’ve fired which I would consider adding to the carry rotation is a Beretta PX4 Compact with the Langdon tactical trigger job.
What irony. I was gungho on the PDP or PDP F4 until the CZ 75D PCR came into my sphere, then finally the P-01. I wish I had money for all three. That Walther trigger though...
Both are great but the P01 really shines when carrying, and shooting. They are both proven reliable platforms. After I did this comparison I haven't picked up my PDP since. If you're on a budget and want optic ready is really the only PDP draw for me at this point.
You just confirmed what I’ve been saying, to myself. I have both the Shadow 2 and the PDP 4.5…I realize shooting comes down to the shooter/practise, and I’m only 2.5 years into shooting…but man, I can shoot that Shadow 2, way, way better than my PDP. With less effort…and I’ve spent more money on the PDP compared to a stock Shadow 2. CZ’s, best hand guns !!
Just like mine I bought about 10 or 11 years ago. I've since bought four other more "modern" compact pistols to try and upgrade my EDC. Are they better? Not really. The only shortcoming, imho, of the out-of-the-box P-01 is the sights. I'd really like to change them. Even, so, I still shoot is surprisingly well. Over the years I've thought, maybe I should sell it, but I just can't bring myself to do it.
I am a CZ man myself. I got my very first CZ in 2007, a stainless 75B. Still have it, and currently have the P01, PCR, 97B. The 97 has been converted to SAO. All the other CZs are stock except for grips. The PCR is one of my 3 EDCs. The other two is a Beretta 84BB and a Taurus 856 Executive Grade.
I've started looking at the CZ 75 P-01 resently, I've heard that the saftey model has a smoother double action pole than the decocker model . The saftey model has the quarter cock with safety and the fully cocked with safety, however it does not decock , I guess you have to lower the hammer back to quarter cock carefully by hand but or eject the last round ( if you were going to unload it without running it dry . It's the same action Type as my Beretta Model 84-FF. 380 quarter cock with safety or fully cocked with safety , same as My New Beretta 92 XI SAO . I haven't bought the CZ yet
I've completely changed my thoughts on the stock trigger, and think a lot of people are quick to judgment like I was. It's actually really great with a higher round count, it just takes a long time to get there I've discovered. At around 2500 rounds, the difference between my stock one and a CGW pro kit trigger is incredibly small, and mine gets smoother after every range trip. I can defiantly understand why people go straight to the CGW kit because its absurdly poor out of the box, just need to tough it out a bit before it gets good.
You don’t need to replace the firing pin block. You should replace the firing pin retaining pin in the slide. The factory pin is susceptible to breaking. For dryfire, use a snap cap or put a small o-ring in the slot where the hammer drops to prevent it from hitting the firing pin. You could also use a piece of a foam ear plug.
With the width of the PDP slide, the recoil on the shot should increase a lot… On the P01, the recoil is nothing! I'm from Brazil, and here the communist restrictions are terrible... Even so, I managed to buy my P01, and I'll see how long I can keep it! The best pistol for concealed carry out there!
Polymer guide rod is bad...polymer frame is good. Torsional stress on the guide rod is minimal. The original polymer framed pistols had issues, should I never trust a plastic gun?
@@williamsmith4720 Polymer guide rod is bad because? Is there a known issue with plastic guide rod failures? No? This is the exact reason suckers purchase Tungsten guide rods for huge amounts of money for absolutely no known reason.

I have the 75 compact and I agree. If I ever come across a po1 with a steel frame im getting it.

thumb the hammer, never have a reholster issue. Love my Cz's.
P-01 quite honestly does it all.. extremely accurate and ergonomic.. reliable, affordable.... performs : range, EDC, car, bedside..

great information. i really enjoyed. keep it coming

Would you recommend the p01 over the standard all steel 75?
for concealed carry? 100%
Can you fit an entended mag in these guns. 30 round?
Any mag designed for a CZ 75 would fit, I don't know who makes one.
OK wait a minute, the slide still has rails so is it really smaller, you just don't see them. What are the dimensions of the slide.?
The Springfield hellcat pro 16+1 is a more comfortable carry gun. I own both.
Better than any striker fired pistols.. as reliable as a hi power!😅

OK I HAVE THE CZ 75 DPCR AND THE CZ PO7. WHY DO SO MANY PLATFORMS SAY THESE CZ MODELS HAVE TO REPLACE FIRING BIN BLOCK ETC AND NOT TO DRY FIRE ?

Just a note: a De-Cocker is not a safety, just a heavy trigger pull.
Correct, I never said it was a safety, but it makes it much safer with the hammer decocked.

@barrygoldwater2441 that was my point as well. My sarcasm wasn't expressed well enough. I'm on your side with this.
Much prefer my CZ Compact L that has so many upgrades and includes a safety that can be engaged hammer down.
The L models are very cool, very few made 10 or so years ago, but I'm not a fan of a safety unless its SAO.
