One way to make it easy to let the truck go is to have a mindset that someone else may benefit from it more than having it sit in your shop! Great to see Grandpa there! Have him on for a sit-down and let him talk about the history of the farm! It would be neat to see how this farm got to where it is today!
I think we need a few minutes to hear Grandpa Larson say a few words on how the farm was started and how it has changed over the years! I’m sure he’s full of farming wisdom!
Dougo is my husband’s idle…his hero aside from his dad. He said he reminds him a lot of his uncle who’s passed a few years ago back now. We love the videos keep em coming!
Dougo and Chet, I knew exactly what that wooden device was when you raised it up to the camera. My grandpa had one on his old '48 Chevy dump truck we used to load some wheat in the granary for next year seed. It did the same as Dougo's home made version for the Kenworth, it would keep the auger from getting overwhelmed when there was only one person having to raise the dump bed on the truck. I last used it in July 1976. I have a nice photo of it, taken by my grandma, while it was in operation. Grandpa and I are leaning on the bed of the truck. Thanks for the laughs and memories.

Us old guys don't actually HAVE to make noise when we move, we just do it to remind you young guys of all the sacrifices we had to make for the younger generation.
Thanks for another great video Chet and Dougo and crew. It was interesting and enjoyable to watch for sure. Ok, all of you folks. Let’s get Grandma Larson’s lawnmower fixed for her once and for all. I feel sorry for her. She wants to mow her yard. Get the belt and whatever else she needs and get HER lawnmower working for her. Super nice lady!!!!!!! If I lived closer would bring a belt to you all to get it going. Great to see Grandpa Merlyn around. Loved it when he waved the red flag over the old blue pickup. Very nice older gentleman; love it when he talks about farming years ago. Should do a show with some of his old farm stories. Would be interesting. The old red KW with the straight box. I would be sad also to sell that truck. That is a beautiful old truck yet. Don’t remember what year you said it was but looks like a new one yet. I would love to have that one. Anxious to see what happens. Hang in there Dougo on this one. Busy getting the last planter put away for the winter. Looks nice all cleaned up. Guess that is it. You all take care. Thanks for everything. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Douggo and I are the same age and I’d like to point out that “taking it easy” doesn’t prevent old age. Old age hurts by itself and not enjoying life thru my 20’s ~40’s wouldn’t stave off old age Chet. I smoke so everyone says “add 10 years to your life by quitting!” Living an extra 10 years would be great if I can have my 20’s back- living from 80 to be 90- what will you miss out on by leaving at 80?
As an EMT, I've been to alot of people in their 60's with cardiac arrest from smoking related diseases. They dident make it. Dont smoke. It is some of the worst poisen you can put in your body.
@@KNJensen Alcohol is far more destructive- you should know that! Funny story, I was paralyzed by an infection in my spine in 2020. Since then I’ve been MRI’d 156 times and of course someone suggested that I get my lungs looked at. So I did. The doctors actual words were “You said you smoked since you were a teen but you have the lungs of Michael Phelps.” Yes smoking is bad, I detest that I still smoke every once in a while HOWEVER I don’t drink anything but water, I do not eat processed foods or fast food. I worked on the water since 1980 and can snap the average man in half because I scuba dive 3x a week I work an unbelievably physical job and I work out. I had bone cancer in 1977- survived I collapsed paralyzed and so septic that doctors said there was nothing that they could do to save my life and I was going to die- 4 days later they began what became 33 hours of surgery that I wasn’t supposed to survive, then they said I’d never walk again- yesterday I walked 100’ with a walker. Grandma says "FIX IT RIGHT" don't mess with grandma! AND grandpa throwing in the "red flag" on the ol' blue pickup was hilarious! Those wet spots in the field won't ever dry up with Dougo crying so much about selling the ol' KW!
nice one, thank you. Btw. almost the same way as you loaded the tire, you could pull out a post, just with an aired up wheel and the rolling over it, instead of the tire, when someone "forgets" to bring Bob ;-) Only do it slowly ore have a spare rear window in stock :-) Greetings from the middle of good ol' western Germany.
LMAO with Dougo in the ole blue Ford. Sounds like a built engine in the sleeper.... And his comment of should have seen me back in high school driving it. Takes me back to my days when I asked if I could have a new set of tires and dad told me yes, I'll buy the front ones and you buy the rear ones............🤣🤣
Grandma should be mad putting a belt back on with a big split in it! She’s lucky it lasted a hour! Should of bought a back up belt when you bought the spring! 😂 would of saved time and money!
Today is my birthday I’m 55,my nickname use to be Jethro because I was told to put that in the truck and I would no mater how much it weighed now I’m handicap and can lift about 25 pounds.Work smarter not harder
Geez Dougo.. we put a small chain with a hook above the rear gate door to hold it at whatever opening we needed…. But hey a cumbersome wood restriction insert that could be lost at any juncture seems a better solution..🤦🏻♂️
It would be cool if you were able to drop off the Ford to the Craig 909 for a restomod or restoration. Or maybe there is another YT channel to do a crossover episode with.

Amy and now Grandma Larson having trouble with their riding lawnmowers, not good for the Larson men.

I had the same truck for high school
Team Larson ! ✌👍
Fascinating thread
Look at an air curtain for the doors helps keep the temperature constant when the doors are opened.

Wise words. However, getting lightening struck at 75 is quick and saves a lot of troublesome days of reaching 80 or 90.

The old blue truck sounds like an exhaust donut is blown from the manifold to the exhaust. I blew one on my 1972 F250 and it sounded just like that.
That KW T800 would be great for Spencer and Grant.
Bye bye red truck👍👍👍

With all the water you've had, the corn ears should be 2' long with tennis ball kernels.
I can’t believe Dougo doesn’t have a zero steer mower
"Back in the forties they had documentation" 😂
Did the truck sell then?

You need to install some draining tiles to drain that water-logged acreage of your field. See Dirt Perfect.
Do they test for chemicals in the lake ?
hey chet you should make a blooper video
maybe you should spray those fields with a florida air boat?!
