How-To. Using the BMW Digital Key Plus for iPhone in BMW OS8

- Learn in this video how to use the BMW Digital Key Plus für iPhone in BMW Operating System 8. Once you have added your Digital Key Plus or have accepted a shared Digital Key Plus you can use your compatible iPhone to unlock, lock and start your BMW - without taking it out of your bag.
For touchless openings make sure you have Bluetooth activated on your phone. The function “Passive Entry” is on per default in your Apple Wallet. Touchless opening also needs to be activated in the car. Go to “MENU”, “DOORS AND WINDOWS” and choose “Unlock when approaching”.
You can also set your car to automatically “Lock when walking away”.
With your iPhone and Apple Watch you can lock and unlock the car and open the trunk of your car when you are close by or just check on the current status of the doors and your trunk.
Unlock on approach might not be possible after the car has been standing still for several days in order to save battery. In this case just pull the door handle to wake up the vehicle - and again to unlock. If your iPhone ran out of battery, simply hold it to the door handle to unlock the vehicle and place it in the smartphone tray to start the engine.
For more watch the BMW Digital Key How to video. In case you want to hand over the Digital Key Card for a service appointment, make sure to bring a physical key with you. This is needed to transfer the saved Condition Based Service data to the dealer system.

Looking forward to applying Digital Key Plus to all models, UWB is much more convenient than NFC.
You're absolutely right, I was hoping that the garage door, entry door, and vehicle all have the UWB. I have to take my phone out of my pocket with NFC, it's inconvenient. and Bluetooth sometimes will not work. UWB is wonderful.

@BMW You market this as a feature in OS8 however there's no confirmation of this working with the i4 - Is this going to have Key Plus eventually or is this an "iX" only feature?
I am also very interested in the answer as I ordered an i4
Should work fine, as the i4 also has the 5g antenna and all the other bits from the os, wide band Bluetooth shouldn't be the one the left out

It does exist an all new electric bmw cars but its an option so you ll have to pay
@@klqc4915 but not in i4 which is OS8 - so it’s misleading. There’s also marketing material mentioning key plus for the i4 so again, misleading. I don’t believe the UWB tech is in the car so not expecting it to be OTA.
Tesla needs to add this yesterday.
It looks like this feature is based on Bluetooth, Bluetooth sometimes will not work, and you can not unlock your car. that's ridiculous. I remember Tesla's feature like this based on UWB, and UWB is absolutely wonderful.
This feature isn’t available for the 2 Series.
Requires OS8, 2 series comes with OS7

Ja, warum genau... the i4 seems to have a dumbed down version of iDrive 8 which is super annoying. Is every car going to have it's own (incompatible) 'version' of iDrive 8 I wonder... or did they just shoe-horn it into the i4?

Compatibility extends to Samsung Galaxy S21 family, as well as Google Pixel 6/6 Pro.
Android is also compatible with UWB. but not all. I hope every phone will be compatible with UWB in the future.
Not even BMW them self can pronounce the BMW correctly. I'm not mad, i'm just disappointed.
