This issue here is that Charles sees in Diana, his failure to set himself free, to live authentically, to be his own person, and to find his own identity. Things that since he was born was what he wanted desperately and yet was psychologically abused by his Father to stay in the mold, and often was ridiculed by peers for having "feminine traits". Charles had those things beat out of him, and ultimately lost himself. In Diana, who is upsetting the establishment by trying to not lose sense of herself and her own identity, he sees his failure. He doesn't feel safe to be vulnerable with Diana, because Diana isn't dependable or reliable to him. He doesn't trust her because she doesn't understand the importance of tradition, she is at a completely different extreme than Camilla who is more neutral, and is frankly, overindulgent to Charles. That sense of instability that he feels from Diana, makes him feel and idealize Camilla to be a firmer foundation and protective barrier for him. Camilla acts like a sort of prison, where he is able to microdose part of his authentic self while still being encouraged or supported to ascribe to the sterility and stoicism of his role. I actually think they were too fundamentally different to ever work out long term. He was considerably more educated and realistic. Diana was a pop culture girlie who probably didn't read all that much and loved escapist entertainment. The irony is this - if Charles did marry Camilla like he should have in the first place, I truly believe that Diana would have been his mistress. Another timeline and another reality.
@@clearsky4003 I did not intend to shade Princess Diana by pointing out that she was in tune with pop culture and a dreamer who wasn't into books. But I do think that she and Charles were very different and he probably looked down on his wife's interests just as Diana probably found her husband to be boring. I don't know anything about Camilla's formal education (by the way, people don't need to go to school to be book smart) but a lot can be gleaned from the fact that she has remained in Charles' orbit all these years. Compatibility counts for a lot. I think Diana would have been happier with a younger, more thoughtful man.

My late husband and I were 11 years apart, however, we met when I was 36 and he was 47. Our likes and maturity were the same and we had 32 wonderful years together. Diana was 20 and Charles 32. Was more like a parent child relationship rather than a husband and wife. Sad.
The problem was that none of them were at fault. Both yearned for love and affection. None of them tried the understand each other because both were different individuals with different individuals. Not justifying Charles but Charles didn't treat Diana only aa his sons' mother - he treated her as a friend, a separate entity. It wasn't his fault that he was forced to marry and love someone despite giving his heart to someone else. Love can never be forced. It's something that comes automatically, and Diana, an innocent and pure soul became a victim of such a dreadful situation which ultimately costed her life. Both of them had a flawed fate, but for Charles, atleast he finally got united with his lover at the end. But oh poor princess, she died a tragic death along with the person whom she felt for, hoping they're united someone, in happy spirits. ❤️
She was young and immature due to lack of experience. He was emotionally immature. He was older than his years - liked older activities. She was young. Loved to do the young ppl things. And he didn’t love her. I think he tried to love her.
I think he loved her, but not a passionate love. More how you love a friend or family member. He was devastated when she died and raising children together does create some appreciation. But he didn't want her as his life companion
Wait a minute…, call the news stations and newspapers, Charles just learned Diana is unhappy in their marriage. And just now realized what causes the strife to disappear or ease up are due to his actions, at least in part if not in their entirety, has to do with his own actions and/behaviors. And that there are direct and indirect consequences to those he loves.
The actress who played Diana overdid it a bit with the head tilting & looking down. And yes, she was whiney.
Her role is 100%. I am stunned. Wow.
He didn’t love her he said that just to to pacify her.
The actor is too handsome to play King Charles I am sorry but I had to say this 😑
No offense pls
doesn't make much sense
Completely agree he’s gorg
I agree.. Even the actress is more beautiful than Diana
There acting is like real life
Superb skills ❤
Decent staging, for once, with him always retreating when confronted.
Gaslighting 101 What he does to her. Trying to make her feel bad while he has been with Camilla the entire time 🙄
The problem is that he was in love with another woman when he married Diana. That’s simply unforgivable. He should never have married her. She of course became much more popular than he will ever be. Camilla isn’t even worth mentioning.
Camilla, a woman who was able to hold a man's love for 50 years? And took all the crap thrown at her with dignity, like Kate? And loved a man whose family did not let him marry her? While the sainted pretty blonde was courting the media, crying on tv and bedhopping with married guys whose wives you don't give a damn about?
Yeah, not worth mentioning 😅😅😅😅
The problem was Diana's mental illness (Covert Narcissism, bulimia, etc.) and Charles' agreeing to marry her.
Le problème c’est Diana qui était très bête et qui rêvait d’être reine au point d accepter d’épouser un homme dont elle savait était amoureux d’une autre femme. Ce qui fait que n’éprouve aucune pitié pour elle 😒
@@joelleginger599 disgustingly unempathetic
Camilla actually created an online book club and I'm gpign to my first queen's reading room on 8th June
Gosh indeed.
He married her deceiving her and then says she must applaud him. He is lucky she married him in the first place.
I don’t know how true this is; but I looked up all three of their natal charts, and wow! It was definitely a love triangle at one point.
If I'd been Charles, Harry and William would have had about 5 more siblings. I mean just look at Diana. Good gig.
do you think Di would have wanted 6 children>
@@glen7318 That's what she was there for.
Shirley here, why would do people think it's to great to marry into royalty? So far what I have seen in my 50 yrs is unhappiness.
This movie described it differently then their real relationship were..
He never loved her even tho he tried he was a bit heartless and in real life he didn't actually care about her..
I think Diana would have been happier with a younger, more thoughtful man.
he says he "loves" you in that way.
well that's certainly the MOST NORMAL way to love I guess😅
He broke eye contact when saying i love you but before and after he was making eye contact...another proof that he didnt and couldnt love her even if he may have tried...is it just me whole saw that subtle detail
Narcissist and Borderline - Kaboooom 💥💥💥
Poor Diana
You should not beg for love or attention. Diana asks for it and charles couldnt give it to her genuinely… he didnt feel for her the way she feels, thats why he negligent in her affection…. They are never meant for each other no matter how they try
My late husband and I were 11 years apart, however, we met when I was 36 and he was 47. Our likes and maturity were the same and we had 32 wonderful years together. Diana was 20 and Charles 32. Was more like a parent child relationship rather than a husband and wife. Sad.
4:02 your actions, chas, speak louder than words
I don't remember this scene. Thanks for posting.
See where Hazno gets it from, those two whiny crybabies
Do not blame Prince Charles. His father is Charles SPENCER.
Diana ones said: The whole world loves me, except the man I love ❤❤
Wen josh said he loved ema it meltid me

She needed a daddy for a husband. He needed a mommy for a wife. That was the issue in my opinion. He in the end got it.
So well acted. Emma corin is brilliant. They both are.

Who knew marrying into a family of miserable people, would make one feel miserable As well. -_-
She was young and immature due to lack of experience.
Imagine Charles & Camilla sitting together at evening watching this movie 🍿 😅
Wait a minute…, call the news stations and newspapers, Charles just learned Diana is unhappy in their marriage.
And just now realized what causes the strife to disappear or ease up are due to his actions, at least in part if not in their entirety, has to do with his own actions and/behaviors.
And that there are direct and indirect consequences to those he loves.
Charles gave all of his attention to Camilla, even though she repeatedly played with his emotions.
The actress who played Diana overdid it a bit with the head tilting & looking down. I remember Princess Diana did that a lot in public because she was trying to avoid the cameras constantly in her face, but in private? The actress turned into a ridiculous Princess Diana caricature, especially the long necked actress in season five. It was preposterous!
After watching the last season I have the feeling that these series were made to paint the royal family white…to show that they are humane. I don’t know, still find what Charles did to Diana very sad. As well as how princess Margareth was treated by the family very disappointing.
Exactly! You hit the nail on it's head. I thought so too. It's slightly biased towards white-washing Charles's image, like he wasn't wrong or bad or apathetic, it was just "complicated", esp since Princess D isn't here anymore to clarify or correct or speak up even if they portray it wrongly.
@@Destination_Unknown713 technically princess d got to speak a lot about it... It was Charles who never had the chance to put his story forward and has been for decades the undisputable monster, thats rather unfair as well
@@Destination_Unknown713
D spoke more than her fair share about it. She courted the media and was sainted.
The only person not allowed to defend himself was Charles.
Diana was a saint, Charles was a monster, yeah, yeah, we know already.
@@countlitmogaphil392 not a monster, only Camilla's tampon
The way he treated Diana is the same way camilia treated him... it's just that he had a throne for which camilia was greedy about.. if she was so in love with him , she would hv nvr married another man and thn get divorced and next yr asked him to do so...
Are you this thick?
Her marriage to Andrew was rushed through to keep them apart. It didn't work. They have stayed true to each other for 50 years. That's remarkable.
Diana, on the other hand, slept with countless married men while married to Charles. He slept with one other person. Camilla. The woman he always loved and waited for. They both went though so much crap and never gave up on each other.
Are you this much dumb?
then I think , you should do ur research about charles and how many affair he had ..Diana was loyal to Charles and She loved Charles truly but when she understood that seeking him won't help her to get him back and her marriage is drowning .. Regardless of how many likes I get or don’t if I was Prince Charles I would’ve accepted being with Diana and would’ve been a loving husband and father and would’ve let Camilla go once and for all. Call me old fashioned but once you marry someone and make a commitment you have to accept it and man up and show love and adornment and tenderness. That’s what I’m gonna do when I get married even if I love someone else I’m still gonna be faithful and loving and caring and giving non stop attention to my wife and future children and find happiness,
I hope you find someone desperate enough to overlook your use of the word "gonna".

At the end of the day, there isn’t a person I’ve spoken too that thinks Charles is in the right. You are going to be the next King.
