I hate how Tony acted like Margaret was to blame when he literally cheated first. I dont know if this actually happened between Margaret and Anthony in real life, but either way its frustrating that there are men who are actually like this.
Unfortunately it is actually true. They didn’t have to make up a fake story with this one. The real story was juicy enough. What they didn’t tell you is that the whole family took his side in the fallout. That was till they heard about all his affairs that started back when he and Margaret became engaged
Both actually cheated, with Tony probably being the first since he never changed. At the same time, Margaret always wanted it to be about her and insulted his work and space. Between the two though, Tony was surprisingly the more doting parent, who loved and cherish his children and spent time with them, it's no surprised that both pursued an artistic career like him.

Well Margaret was no walk in the park either. And she rushed into a marriage with an unstable guy. So it’s kind of 50-50.
That hoppiety hop was crazy.
The note that said “You look like a Jewish Manicurist.” That was actually true because in real life, Tony really did leave notes like that to Princess Margaret and one of such states that quote. Which goes to show how problematic their marriage was. 😢
Edit: The full quote in real life was actually - “You look like a jewish manicurist, AND I HATE YOU.”
Although I'm not Jewish, I'm curious about why it would be an insult to look like a Jewish manicurist.

I just watched a clip from earlier in the series and it's so cool to see how the characters are still the same! I could 100% see the young actors saying these things to eachother haha
Even if it’s pure fiction, I love this show and this scene.
These fights happened and the notes lying around happened as well. Their marriage was… problematic to say the least.
It's not pure fiction. They did fight a lot, he did leave those nasty notes in the pages of the books she read, and that boy is a real person she was having an affair with.
If Princess Margaret had ended up with Peter Townsend, no doubt she would be happier. But I really wonder if she really loved Tony Armstrong.
I doubt that Peter would have made her happy either, she would have got bored with him.
She only married Tony just to get even with Peter’s engagement with another woman.
Nah, if she had married Peter she would eventually get bored of him or start bullying him to get a reaction and bring some 'excitement' into their marriage. If she was really about all that she would have given up her line in the throne to be with him. Ultimately, her issues were personal and she mistakenly thought a man could fix it. In her mind that man was Peter. When the only person who had the power to do that was herself.

They did become friendly in later years. But IMHO they never should have married each other.
The fact affairs in the royal family have become such a big thing last 100 years or so where not that long ago royalty and nobility having mistresses was not only acceptable but almost expected
Not all the royals in history were that way. Most of them were but not all. Times change but I am sure that most of those royal wives didn’t want their husbands having those affairs
@@cherrytraveller5915 not always marriages were often loveless between royals and nobles at that time many royal and noble women had their own affairs they just couldn't be as open about it
I remember watching a video on the DNA results of King Richard III's bones, and what they found were many instances where illegitimate births would have occurred all throughout his lineage lol it was quite funny to me

Margaret had her own reasons for hating Sir Alan "Tommy" Lascelles, but perhaps she even regretted at the time that he retired and didn't prevent her from marrying this photographer.
Even though he was right about Margaret not knowing who she was and having issues with the complexities of being born into royalty etc. He was a predatory parasite, insecure with a host of complex issues and insanely jealous of her and the monarchy. He set out to kill her in every possible way except for getting actual blood on his hands.
That guy magically disappeared.

Edit: She got that woman pregnant and ironically, she gave birth to their love child during Tony & Princess Margaret’s honeymoon.

This show opened my eyes to how terribly things turned out for princess Margaret.
He has a point though. Even I, a commoner, if I had a lover outside my marriage, wouldn't bring him home while still being married, no matter how bad things between me and my husband might be. I would just go to my lover's place or to a hotel / airbnb whatever, but she had plenty of other places at her disposal to conduct her affair.

Hard to say, considering he never hid it and even had a child out of wedlock. Hard to claim whats the proper way to do things when he was the one who ruined the whole marriage and stayed far away
This was 80s to 90s. None of that stuff then.
I hate how commoners marry into families like these and pretend that they did not know that their duty would be to be in second, place, walk two steps behind, and proceed to live a life of security and luxury as a result.
You do know that if they didn’t marry commoners the RF would no longer exist. Also no amount of preparation can prepare you for the invasion into your private life or how on show you are. There is no guide book that exists that explains what you take on when you marry a royal. I find it sad that people like you think that someone will instantly know what to do when they take on a role like that. Be thankful you have a normal boring life that allows you to judge someone you don’t know
Even people born into royal family struggle with marrying a fellow royal and they have learned all the ropes from birth. Look how much Marie Antoinette struggled. Look at Empress Elizabeth of Austria and her mental issues. And these were both born into royal families and were as far from common as you can get

Margaret and Tony had their share of heated spats (or rows, as they would have called them), but this isn’t how the Margaret/Roddy affair ended. It was a lot more anti-climactic; he sent her a note, informing her that he was going to marry someone else
The actor playing Roddy, looks just like Matthew Goode the actor who played Anthony Armstrong-Jones in Season 2 of The Crown.

tbh this wouldve been the end with peter townsend too. margaret was too unstable and selfish. she kept blaming elizabeth but no she was the one in a complex and envious to the point of ruining her life instead of finding ways she could live more meaningfully for her own sake and that of her family and position.
so much u can do with that kind of position and power but this is how she chose to live. are we supposed to pity her? same with harry.
