I just can’t help but thinking what would’ve happened if Diana were alive and kicking today. I think Camilla wouldn’t have ever married the King, simply put because the Church of England wouldn’t have allowed it. I think they even wouldn’t be together in the shadows, they would’ve gotten sick of it; and, of course, Diana would still get more attention than the King himself.

Then, William, the future King of England would get a half-Arabic half-sibling. This did not sit well with the Royal Family. That's why they had her off.

And she had NO interest in doing anything to learn anything about Charles. More than one staffer was fed up with her refusal to learn anything. Only when she made some SERIOUS royal faux pas was she taken to task and she was forced to grow up and take her responsibilities seriously. She was simply groomed to marry ANDREW, not Charles.. when she did marry him, she acted like a spoilt brat. Even her grandmother took her task. Unfortunately by the time she sort of "got it" and grew up, time had run out..

@@staceyrashkin2609 given the most recent books written by people who actually worked for BOTH Charles and Diana, while Charles was insufferable and spoilt, he nevertheless had SOME manners when it came to the staff and people around him. Diana on the other hand was downright VICIOUS and mentally manipulating; always screeching and shouting about something or always sobbing, playing victim, or going weeks on end giving staff the silent cold treatment only to turn on a dime when it was some party she wanted to host or attend. She was infamous for her gaslighting them, playing mind games often within the same DAY!
Additionally, she constantly used/commandeered her children against Charles and would do anything to keep them separated from him (always changing plans at the last minute, refusing to eat meals with Charles and having trays sent to the nursery or her room with "the boys" when they returned from boarding school; forcing Charles to eat alone) while she ran to the press to say that she was always for her boys. And yet she triangulated and confided TOO much with William to the point where he ended up at times being the parent/husband/counselor to her. And she constantly used them as a cover when she was meeting up with James Hewitt under the guise of riding lessons or taking her boys along when meeting up with him, as they both liked him; unaware that their mum was having an affair with him. TOO much is always said about Charles and Camilla, but the fact is Diana stepped out first with SEVERAL affairs (and a public shaming of him at a wedding) BEFORE the birth of Harry, and when she iced Charles out after the birth of Harry, only then did Charles resume with Camilla, but he NEVER brought his sons into that mix like Diana did.
The truth is, BOTH were at fault (Charles refused to put his foot down on this b.s.) Diana was NOT the goddess people make her to be. At a certain age you should grow up and grow into the position you are meant to be. The more that's coming out from people who worked with her, the more we see that there were two Dianas the glamorous, articulate, poised and confident one in front of the camera and magazines and the REAL, manipulative, insecure, manic, maniacal, tyrannical, screaming, screeching, vindictive, merciless, cruel, abusive and downright nasty one.
The fact is that she entered this marriage as a young and naive girl dreaming of love and romance and he entered this marriage in love with another woman. She had her faults in the unraveling of the marriage, but the marriage was a farce from its beginning and that is Charles' fault and even if Diana had been the perfect wife, mother and woman, the marriage was doomed.
Why are Diana, Harry, Meg castigated for their interviews and this git given a pass. Literally let Andrew give an interview outing himself as a creep and he’s all good in the fam

Camilla could never hold a candle to Diana, but many people would attest that Diana was vapid, vicious, EXTREMELY vindictive, INCESSANTLY victim-y, vengeful and utterly viperous; she would literally be screaming and screeching down the halls after Charles who had a full calendar and diary of obligations. Who would WANT to be around such a woman? Looks aren't everything as she found out with Camilla. True, Charles wasn't entirely in the right, but Diana was not the virginal victim. If they wanted to, both Charles and Camilla could have destroyed Diana. Camilla actually pitied Diana and did not press the issue of Diana constantly harassing her. They both were quite relieved when Diana went on a few romping matches of her own; one ending up as one of the parties responsible for a divorce; always cleaned up by her staff. So Diana may have born a divine name, but she was NO goddess.

Of course she didn't understand the substance of his relationship with Camila because she didn't get a chance to live an adult life long enough before Charles married her. Both Charles and Camilla were in their thirties when Charles married Diana. They were full adults and Diana was barely out of school.

Different values, different interests, different ages, different lifestyles.

I don't justify him at all. No way, but his personality was a match with Camilla, and it wasn't with Diana. I support Diana in all of this. But their two personalities are one of the worst marriage matches that can be made. They were utterly incompatible. Everything she needed in a man, he didn't have it to give. And what he wanted, she could not be that. Again, I don't justify the situation, at all. Mainly, I think Diana deserved better than what she got. She knew it too. She wanted to back out of the marriage and her family pressed her against her will to go ahead. She would have walked, and no doubt, she would still be alive if she had. Moral to the story, don't let people talk you into what you know is not right for you. The RF could not handle someone like her. She was real and she was a classy lady..

For someone who allegedly never mattered, pictures of her in the revenge dress sure found its way into a lot of newspapers and magazines at the time.
People seem to forget that it was DIANA who stepped out first and continued her affairs until she became pregnant with Harry. Then after that and after being exhausted by Diana's paranoia, control and constant need to be emotionally stroked, Charles started his affair with Camilla. If Charles were as vile and cruel as Diana always wanted to portray, he could have DESTROYED her. He didn't for the sake of his sons, but that did NOT stop Diana from using them against Charles.
Neither were happy in the marriage, Charles was able to get out, Diana didn't want to but she had no choice (she said in the Bashier interview she wanted to stay married). So what revenge is she having on who? Charles? She reminds me of Meghan in this instance. Childish.
I rarely use the h-word, but, even though I HATE this basically-fictional show, this scene was done pretty well. It's true that in real life, Charles truly confessed his wrong in such a way that Diana knew if she didn't do something, people would learn to forgive him and even love him more. So she did as any woman desperate for the lowest of attention would, and dressed scantily in the name of staying popular--for photos, attention, and the 90s version of "likes/clicks." It won. Charles got NOTHING for doing the right thing. ... And now he is our beloved King, and those who love him know the truth.
