Thanks Techne for the quick review. I was waiting for you to post this because I have these ordered on Amazon, and I'm glad I got to watch this beforehand, because after watching this, it really doesn't seam like a huge improvement over my Gen 2's, which mine are still almost brand new. For almost like 7 years I’d been using the Stealth 700 OG. Because I wasn’t rich enough for AirPods I took them for runs, to the food court and just generally everywhere. The gen 2s are still the best sounding wireless headset ive ever used. I tried the nova pro wireless, and they werent even close. The gen 2s sound is so punchy and immersive. Only one that came close for me was the stealth pro, but i returned them because i realized my 3 year old gen 2s are still better for me, especially with the gel earpads, and amazing mic monitoring

They made that arm piece metal because in the previous gen 2s, alot of people would experience it breaking at that same point. If you look on Amazon reviews for the gen 2s, it would break there. I myself had went through two of those same gen 2s and it would break at that same exact point. So I think this is going on the right direction as far as durability.
They've come a long way. I'm getting back in with a series X and this headset after many years away from gaming. My last turtle beach's were on a xbox 360 :)
I watched this review and then walked into Best Buy and spent 225 bucks on the stealth pro this afternoon. The sale is too good to beat at Best Buy right now on the Pros. It was down to the pros and the 700 gen 3. This review sealed the deal for me.
You should definitely not have wasted your money on the pros... A lot of the headsets are having an issue that has happened on 3 separate different pairs I've had (Replacements) At some point they go robotic when answering calls and in order to fix said robotics you have to reboot the headset. Really wish I'd not wasted my money on them. Especially when I had this same issue on the set I bought on day of release and now, again with this most recent set I bought a year ago. This is clearly not a problem they are ever going to fix.
14:53 Nice to see a doggo that isn't in an apology video... 😅 I actually just ordered the Steel Series Arctis Nova 7x from watching your older video. Ordered open box on Ebay for $90. The simultaneous bluetooth is something I would use, I like to game with headphones on, but also like to listen to a podcast or movie at the same time.
I want to see what Turtle Beach does with a third generation of the Recon headset with a bass boost feature. Secondly, I would like to see Microsoft release a new and improved version of their wireless stereo headset with better durability.

I use the Gen 2 Stealth 700 MAX for listening to music when mowing the lawn and throwing snow and the volume boost helps keep the engine noise at bay and the headset has stood up to rain and snow over a couple years. Does this model have that volume boost button? The added Mode button and 3rd volume / alt use wheel are nice. I also appreciate the large earcups, and 3rd gen looks to be the same.

Hey Techne, do you think you can do a round-up of the best wireless gaming headsets right now? I think quite a few have come out since the last round-up, and I for one would love to hear your opinion on which wireless gaming headset is the best at the moment. I know a lot of people will say the Maxwell, but that thing is like a brick lol.
@@TheTechneif you can, you should try out the 3d printed “Comfort Strap” by Capra Audio for the Maxwell’s. It distributes the weight incredibly well. Changed the Maxwell from being the most uncomfortable headset I owned, to top 3. It really is that good. At least give it a look mate. I promise you that your noggin will thank me. I’ll even bet that they get the stinkin cozy badge 🤘
So, you can't customize the wheel to be a game/chat balance? That's my one must have feature with all the gaming with discord connected. All of these new headsets look good until I realize they don't have a game/chat dial. I wish astro would come out with a new A50.
40+ grams of weight is a big jump but I'm guessing that could be because of the new eclipse drivers? 🤔 And on top of that the clamping force is less from the 700 gen 2 which I personally think they should've kept that the same just so it could help compensate for the weight increase. I personally think the atlas air is the top dog in the turtle beach lineup. Insane comfort, outstanding sound and light as a feather, you just can't beat those 😎🎧
So what you’re saying is stick with my Audeze Maxwells? I’m having an issue with the microphone being floppy, and Audeze sent a replacement. Hoping next iteration has flip to mute mic on it.
I have used multiple sets, and my mics are also floppy, they just dont hold position they always end up bending down. But I use a stand alone mic, so no biggie for me.
@@TheTechnemakes sense. So, after this vid: you think the Maxwell are still the better pair? I was thinking about getting this just cause of the new AI noise reduction flip to mute mic. But you really can’t beat the 90mm planar drivers. Crispest sound I’ve ever experienced.
From what you've been saying it feels like they just added features and kept most of the hardware of the Gen 2's. I guess it's just better to save money and go for the Gen 2.
ya for sure get the gen 2 double battery it's amazing. If you can scoop up a pair of Dr disrespect ones they will become rare and increase in price as they age
LOVED these things. Loved. My mic is crackling bad each time I unmute, I have to put it in the perfect position for it not to. Started out of nowhere. Annoying.
Techne, what is your headset of choice as of today? I have the razor blackshark v2 pro's, and they have a lot of audio issues, crackling, robotic sounds. also, if i am in discord, and i mute, i have to power the headset off and back on in order to unmute. Hasn't been a very good experience.
@@NickAdriaens-gh5ni i think they’re decently loud. I haven’t used a pair of airs but at max volume i cannot hear outside noise. And the equalizer you get with the app really helps tune in the sound that you’d like. Although to access the equalizer the headset needs a software update and the process to do that through the app was kinda crappy. Both dongles need to be plugged in and it also has to be connected to the device you’re updating it from via bt. Which was fine but i don’t have two devices and had to borrow a family members switch for 10 mins to do so
Techne, question for you brother. I'm using an older pair of Logi G935's and need something new. I play mostly single player games like Cyberpunk, Starfield, etc. I prioritize sound quality and sound isolation over mic quality and comfort. I hate muddled noise and want something with good bass, neutral mids and good highs but not piercing. That said, what headset(s) do you recommend? Thanks sir!
Do you think think these are a major upgrade from the 600 gen 3 which are half the price? I have the 600 gen 3 and was thinking of getting these as well.
Good review. I'd appreciate if you could address some questions that weren't addressed: 1) Is the bluetooth volume wheel completely independent from console/pc sound? Previously, you could control BT, but only up to the max of the master audio coming from the dongle 2) When using BT to chat (phone call/discord/etc), does it still lower automatically the main dongle audio by around 50% ? 3) When using BT to chat, can you use the configurable wheel to chatmix between dongle (game) and BT (chat) ?
@@DiabolusBR i own them and i’ll answer that for you since i’m here lol. The bt volume wheel IS independent from the rest of the sound. It controls the audio coming from whatever you are connected to via bt. It does, just like the previous gen 2’s lower the volume when taking calls. The configurable wheel has 4 configurations. 1. Mic monitor volume, 2. Bass boost level. 3. Treble boost level, and 4. Noise gate volume. Only way i could think to really chatmix in the way that i think you are is balancing dongle and bt volume to the point where you’d like. Although if it’s a chat via bt it would cut the volume from the dongle so it’d make it kinda difficult
This has been really helpful but is there not a slight difference between the xbox and PlayStation version? It looks like the xbox version has a game/chat mix dial, can this be changed to something else?
My gen 2’s internal battery messed up after only having it for 2 years it only works if its plugged into power source now, all turtle beach offered me was a discount code, so looks like im buying these
Should I save my money and get the 600 gen 3 or get the 700 gen 2 again mine broke on the plastic side which is why I wanted the 700 gen 3 but obviously the metal is more deceitful than anything
Ever since i got the Astro A50x and Maxwell's, I don't think I'll be changing them any time soon. They offer a great balance of sound, They are a bit pricey but for me it's worth it. These seem decent for the price though.
I really wanted to keep the Audeze Maxwell's, but they just didn't fit the bill for being "gaming" headphones. The app support was horrible (constant crashes on pc, connection issues on the mobile app), the sidetone had very loud static even after updating, you're unable to use the Bluetooth connection while trying to use your phone for something like a call, and the spatial audio and imaging weren't on par with other headsets I tried. They do have phenomenal audio for music, though. I just don't think they lived up to be a "gamer's" headset.
Can you use these independently on Console or PC? Or do you always have to have both devices turned on, and the transmitters plugged in? I don't always want my console and PC turned on at the same time.
Dude. You don't have to have them on at the same time! If you did though, you can quickly switch back and forth between different devices without restarting anything.
@DELLB93 i guess the 700 gen 3's are still new they have 60mm drivers over 50mm and better and better bluetooth on the 700's but then Ives seen videos say the pro edges the 700 on details like footsteps etc. I might wait it out a little longer if I find any good content to cover them ill post link here m8
Chat Mix adjustment on the headset for PS5? I've been looking for that outside of the Pulse 3D Headphones for ages. I wish the Steel Series Nova Pro Wireless headset had that!
Another great review brother 👏👏 I have a set of the Gen 2 700’s and find them very comfy and a neutral sounding headset, the Gen 3 strike me the same so not really worth the renew. TB have been very meh for a number of years now, no real advance in innovations to set the headset world alight.
Does this require firmware updates through a PC? Because thats the problem i was having with a previous steel series artic nova headset that i had to return. I only got a laptop.
I have the stealth 700 Gen 2. When I am gaming and get a phone call i am able to talk on the phone and hear the game audio. However if I am on a call and also in game chat or party, i am not able to talk with my party. With the Gen 3 is there a way to switch from Bluetooth to game /party chat so you can talk with your teammates?
I have the razor halo editions, they aren’t all that they get loud which I like but the soundstage is really narrow and they have always fit loose since day one. I want to upgrade to these but need to sell my razors first.
kind of torn between astro a50 or these but i’ve not used a headset in around 12 years so im really not up to date on what’s good or bad or a decent value for money anymore. what does everyone recommend?
I doubt the headband it all plastic. Have you taken it apart? I bet there's a sthinner metal band that it connects to. That's how the headband is probably so flexible.
Have a PC, Xbox and phone and I think the multi-connection I can get with these and the overall sound quality and wireless experience is going to be far better than my current Steelseries Arctis 5s which I've had for years. Any comment on if I should look further into buying them or remaining with Steelseries? Input from anyone is good.
Does the volume button mix the volume of chat and game or just game volume? I hate my Audeze Penrose, where I have to click the wheel down and move it for chat. It never gets a good balance
Looks interesting, but that part that connects the earcups is going to be the weakest point I think, steelseries had something similar, but maybe going to try these

I have used multiple sets, and my mics are also floppy, they just dont hold position they always end up bending down. But I use a stand alone mic, so no biggie for me.
@@Hijynx87that’s my guess. It just drops and won’t stay solid. It’s weird.
Soo difference from gen 2 is u get 2 dongles? Same hardware same software? Same app?
From what you've been saying it feels like they just added features and kept most of the hardware of the Gen 2's. I guess it's just better to save money and go for the Gen 2.
ya for sure
get the gen 2 double battery it's amazing. If you can scoop up a pair of Dr disrespect ones they will become rare and increase in price as they age
yes
Gen has a lot of issues. I bought 2 different sets myself and has tons of issues with volume. It’s all online with the gen 2 issues
You didn’t mention these have 2 drivers in each side.
I have the stealth pros. How does this compare to the pros?
Is this one better than 7x?
Do they work with PS5 controller on pc?
Does the Xbox dongle need firmware update like the PC one?
LOVED these things.
Loved.
My mic is crackling bad each time I unmute, I have to put it in the perfect position for it not to. Started out of nowhere. Annoying.
Does this have the game to chat function?
Techne, what is your headset of choice as of today? I have the razor blackshark v2 pro's, and they have a lot of audio issues, crackling, robotic sounds. also, if i am in discord, and i mute, i have to power the headset off and back on in order to unmute. Hasn't been a very good experience.
These, stealth pro or maxwell for sound quality alone?
Should I get these or Hyper X Alpha Wireless?
would have been awesome to hear from you better headphones for the same price range or smt like that
What about the volume. Do they get loud. Not like the airs after update?
@@NickAdriaens-gh5ni i think they’re decently loud. I haven’t used a pair of airs but at max volume i cannot hear outside noise. And the equalizer you get with the app really helps tune in the sound that you’d like. Although to access the equalizer the headset needs a software update and the process to do that through the app was kinda crappy. Both dongles need to be plugged in and it also has to be connected to the device you’re updating it from via bt. Which was fine but i don’t have two devices and had to borrow a family members switch for 10 mins to do so
Steelseries nova 7 or these ? For ps5
Why can’t these come wired. I need wired for my setup :/
So someone with the Gen 2s. would you recommend these for the atlas airs for an upgrade?
I prefer the airs
@@TheTechne great thanks for the review. Just wish the airs had simultaneous Bluetooth. but these gen 3 just don't look comfortable.
What about the volume. Do they get loud. Not like the airs after the update.?
Techne, question for you brother. I'm using an older pair of Logi G935's and need something new. I play mostly single player games like Cyberpunk, Starfield, etc. I prioritize sound quality and sound isolation over mic quality and comfort. I hate muddled noise and want something with good bass, neutral mids and good highs but not piercing. That said, what headset(s) do you recommend? Thanks sir!
Do you think think these are a major upgrade from the 600 gen 3 which are half the price? I have the 600 gen 3 and was thinking of getting these as well.
They are worth it I had the previous ones they were amazing
Good review. I'd appreciate if you could address some questions that weren't addressed:
1) Is the bluetooth volume wheel completely independent from console/pc sound? Previously, you could control BT, but only up to the max of the master audio coming from the dongle
2) When using BT to chat (phone call/discord/etc), does it still lower automatically the main dongle audio by around 50% ?
@@fried_salad0311 Thank you!!!! Very helpful.
Just wish these headset makers would think of people with big heads and ears, can't find a single one that fits comfortably with stock pads😢
At 13:52 what game is it sir. Awesome review and guide. 13:52
Is the mic 32000hz or 48000hz?
Are these louder on console than the Atlas Air? On PS5 after updating the headset the overall volume just dropped significantly.
Try it with the newest Firmware that has been released today for the Atlas Air
@@seeliger1992 will do thanks. Didn't know there was a new one available
How do I connect it to the app
Those or stealth 700 gen 2 max
where the metal is my last headset broke in the plastic
Is the audeze Maxwell better than stealth 700gen3
I have both... the maxwells just sound better. That's pretty much it... I've been using these a lot more now.
This has been really helpful but is there not a slight difference between the xbox and PlayStation version? It looks like the xbox version has a game/chat mix dial, can this be changed to something else?
My gen 2’s internal battery messed up after only having it for 2 years it only works if its plugged into power source now, all turtle beach offered me was a discount code, so looks like im buying these
Should I save my money and get the 600 gen 3 or get the 700 gen 2 again mine broke on the plastic side which is why I wanted the 700 gen 3 but obviously the metal is more deceitful than anything
wanted to know your thoughts on if I should buy this as I was thinking of I love the 3 way Bluetooth system dongle thing
if you will utilize the features its a win
Yeah but how does it sound it's pretty stinking heavy. is it worth buying these just for people on ps5 only
can you answer phone calls with a button on the headphones while gaming? Can you mute yourself from the game mic while on a call?
Ever since i got the Astro A50x and Maxwell's, I don't think I'll be changing them any time soon. They offer a great balance of sound, They are a bit pricey but for me it's worth it. These seem decent for the price though.
Stealth pros kill both of those
@@cbarr699We get it, you’re a simp for the Stealth Pros
Astro a50 gen 5 look better@jbarr699
I really wanted to keep the Audeze Maxwell's, but they just didn't fit the bill for being "gaming" headphones. The app support was horrible (constant crashes on pc, connection issues on the mobile app), the sidetone had very loud static even after updating, you're unable to use the Bluetooth connection while trying to use your phone for something like a call, and the spatial audio and imaging weren't on par with other headsets I tried. They do have phenomenal audio for music, though. I just don't think they lived up to be a "gamer's" headset.
@@cbarr699 and astro a50 gen 5 will kill them
Can you use these independently on Console or PC? Or do you always have to have both devices turned on, and the transmitters plugged in? I don't always want my console and PC turned on at the same time.
Dude. You don't have to have them on at the same time!
If you did though, you can quickly switch back and forth between different devices without restarting anything.
Which is better
Turtle beach stealth pro or these as they are pretty much same price in uk atm. Thanks for any advice
Ive been looking for ages and can’t find anything that compares the two
@DELLB93 i guess the 700 gen 3's are still new they have 60mm drivers over 50mm and better and better bluetooth on the 700's but then Ives seen videos say the pro edges the 700 on details like footsteps etc. I might wait it out a little longer if I find any good content to cover them ill post link here m8
@@craigthomas3418 i have the audeze Maxwell just they are amazing too
Chat Mix adjustment on the headset for PS5? I've been looking for that outside of the Pulse 3D Headphones for ages. I wish the Steel Series Nova Pro Wireless headset had that!
Nope it doesn't.
@@garethg8226 that’s a shame
Chat mix can be adjusted easy enough via the console. Maybe you have to be on party chat though.
What's the app called?
Mine wont connect to the app
Does Wicked Cushion make hybrid cooling gel earpads for the Stealth 700s? I see rounded ones for the stealth pros but not the angled versions
Another great review brother 👏👏
I have a set of the Gen 2 700’s and find them very comfy and a neutral sounding headset, the Gen 3 strike me the same so not really worth the renew.
TB have been very meh for a number of years now, no real advance in innovations to set the headset world alight.
thanks man. Now the atlas air was a great innovation I think
Does this require firmware updates through a PC? Because thats the problem i was having with a previous steel series artic nova headset that i had to return. I only got a laptop.
I know the Gen 2’s you couldn’t adjust the ratio of chat to gameplay on the PS5. Can you do it with these?
I have the stealth 700 Gen 2. When I am gaming and get a phone call i am able to talk on the phone and hear the game audio. However if I am on a call and also in game chat or party, i am not able to talk with my party. With the Gen 3 is there a way to switch from Bluetooth to game /party chat so you can talk with your teammates?
I have the razor halo editions, they aren’t all that they get loud which I like but the soundstage is really narrow and they have always fit loose since day one. I want to upgrade to these but need to sell my razors first.
Needs a suspension headband removable mic. And gel pads. 3.5 passthrough.
Surprised in 2024 these company's dont have it together by now.
kind of torn between astro a50 or these but i’ve not used a headset in around 12 years so im really not up to date on what’s good or bad or a decent value for money anymore. what does everyone recommend?
So techne how would you compare these vs the arctis nova pros? I’d be using for pc and ps5
I doubt the headband it all plastic. Have you taken it apart? I bet there's a sthinner metal band that it connects to. That's how the headband is probably so flexible.
Would the sound and mic quality of the EPOS H6Pro (openback) still better? how about the Corsair HS80 MAX ? (Mic quality)
Anyone know if this one or the gen 2 headset is comfortable for your ears. I have arctic nova 7x I think but they hurt my ears.
Looks interesting, but that part that connects the earcups is going to be the weakest point I think, steelseries had something similar, but maybe going to try these
Are y’all having issues with mic quality in Xbox party’s
I have the black 700 gen 3 headset would I be able to buy the dongle for the PlayStation only set (white) to work with the black headset?
