    Bro, you were born to review things. You're better than any platform, including CNET, IGN, or Consumer Reports. I sincerely hope that you find a bigger audience. I know you will. Some of these clowns on you tube only provide us information that we can just read off the side of the damn box. 👍👍

    PSA for the clamp force: if you bend the middle of the head band it lowers the clamp force substantially. I did that on my old 700 gen 2s and they were much more comfortable for longer gaming sessions. It didn't affect the headset in any negative way, it still worked perfectly.

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  2 роки тому +14

      Thanks for saying this. I try to be careful here because I don’t want to be the reason why someone breaks theirs if they bend too hard. I loosened mine up a bit as well and it’s perfect for me.

      I had the first stealth 700 gen 2 for two years and they ended up pretty broken so this Max version is the perfect thing for me now that is on sale for $60 off but I went ahead and bought a 3 year protection plan (I bought the headset thru walmart) so with that and tax I still paid $173 but Im glad because this headset will have double battery life when I already thought the 20 hour one was plenty. plus after a couple years when they start to get busted i can just turn em in with my protection plane for another brand new pair for free

    Just bought a pair of the cobalt blue after returning my Nova Pro wireless. The bump inside the earcup for ANC bothered me too much to keep them. The Gen 2 Max have been perfect thus far. I haven't even updated them or downloaded the audio hub app to make any adjustments to the audio. They sound great right out of the box to me.

    Your review is really well made and in depth. Even for a guy like me who doesn't know a whole lot of stuff for everything sound related, it was easy to understand. You go into every single meaningful detail. Very nicely done indeed. I also watched your video for the Steelseries Nova 7, and i'm having a hard time trying to decide between this one and the Nova 7, but your videos helped tremendously.
    Keep up the good work Sir!

    First off, what a great channel. I only discovered it through my search for Arctis Nova Pro reviews. Having watched the review, I decided the Arctis Nova Pro was not for me (no Sonar compatible software for console).
    I find the channel offers unbiased reviews, and does a great job of providing in-depth details, which many others fail to highlight; it is why I searched it for a review of the TB’s.
    Based on the review, I purchased the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max for PS5.
    Having used them for around 5 hours, I find them, on the whole, comfortable, although, the headband does dig in to my scalp and causes a little discomfort after a couple of hours of use. I think that’ll improve with time.
    The sound out-of-the-box was a little disappointing, but that was remedied with the ‘Bass + Treble Boost’ preset - this, IMO, really sounds great, and I’m really happy with the sound detail (situational awareness is great, too, for WZ: DMZ) and fullness. Very immersive sound.
    The headset was easy to set up, and the iOS app works well.
    My only concern at this point is the ear cup mounts. The mechanism that allows the cups to pivot look a little weak.
    Having used a Logitech Pro X wired headset for the past 2.5 years, the TB’s are a real step-up to what I’m used to, and I’m finding lots of additional sound detail I didn’t hear before.
    I would definitely recommend the Turtle Beach for PS5.

    Thanks for the best review I've seen on this headset! I just retired early at 60 and I'm new to gaming. The 700 Gen2's arrived today. I'm moving to South East Asia and this stuff is more expensive there because of the import tax, so I'm getting all my other electronics updated as well. I may be 60 and new to gaming, but I'm a total technophile. Most of my friends my age have no idea what I'm talking about most of the time, so many of my friends are much younger. I watched another review on these by another UA-camr who has a TON of subscribers and, although his shtick is entertaining, his reviews are not much help at all. Based on yours I'm going to send my 700 Gen 2's back tomorrow and get the 700 Gen 2 Maxes. I've seen some of your other videos and, I have to say, I'll be tuning in regularly. Btw, because of my former profession, sound is really important to me and I was thinking about spending $300, but not now. If I really enjoy gaming, I'll spend a lot more for good sound. Because of your honesty and thoroughness, you just gained a new subscriber. Great video man. Thanks again!

    Very satisfied with this headset! I’ve owned Astro A50s and A40TR and I’m very impressed with the audio quality produced by Stealth 700. The only issue I had was updating the firmware on MAC; do not update your firmware on MAC OS AudioHub because it bricks the transmitter (known issue with other users). The SteelSeries Arctis 7X is compatible with all platforms but doesn't have Bluetooth. The Corsair Virtuoso XT has Bluetooth and lets you play Wireless and Bluetooth audio at the same time, but it isn't Xbox compatible. Some headsets come so close but fall just short of being perfect, so it's really nice that Turtle Beach finally gave us the best of all worlds with this one.

Sound from bluetooth playing same time with game is at dramatic low level. Game audio cover the sound of the phone, even when you max the bluetooth sound. And when you use only bluetooth (Xbox is off) you can hear cracks and noise no matter if you listen streaming or recorded sound. This vs the EPOS H6PRO for competitive gaming?

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  2 роки тому +7

      That's a great question and surprisingly difficult to answer! The 700 Gen 2 Max sounds amazing, but is still very different than both variants of the H6Pro (open and closed back). The 700 Gen 2 still has exceptional detail considering it's a gaming headset. I found it to be very easy to work with on games like Warzone, and I never felt at a disadvantage with them. Historically speaking, I have more Warzone hours on my original 700 Gen 2 than any other wireless headset I own. The H6PRO has become my favorite E-Sports level headset just because the profile works on everything I play with good detail presentation. They are also very durable with good noise rejection and long term comfort. Considering the 700 Gen 2 offers SO much for only $20 more MSRP (wireless, BT, the app, extra controls, etc) it's still an incredible option. With the H6PRO, you're using straight analog and paying for the contruction/speakers and that's it! It's all a matter of what's more important to you.

    So I am looking to upgrade my headset to either the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max, or the Razer Blackshark V2 PRO Wireless. I don't have an XBOX so I am not too worried about compatibility with that since I have a PC. I know they are in the same price range. In your opinion which headset is overall better in audio quality and practicality? I would be using this headset for PC gaming and and work conference calls since I work remotely. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    I just bought these headphones. They are good and u are right about them being tight. I wear glasses and I find that the back of the stem of my glasses are pressed uncomfortably against my head. I hope they do loosen up. The other thing is the turtle beach audio hub app sucks. Not a lot of options. Thanks for mentioning the wheel that spins forever I thought mine were broke cuz I bought them refurbished for a 129.00. But they do sound good. I will try some of the tips about the settings and maybe that will help. Great job on the review. Thanks.

I loved the audio, comfort, and features and was ultimately sad that the crackling would not stop. Your review helped me pick them but I'll be looking for another headset in the mean time. Do these fit well for a bigger head (XL fitted cap size)? My experience with the HS80 and others is that the earpads sit on top of your ear rather than your ear going into them, and that the clamp force makes them uncomfortable to wear.

    Hey man. Congrats on another great review, I’ve been waiting for this one and I really liked it. I recently got the Penrose X (I also use your review for it) and I have not had connection issues since I did some tweaks (played with the WiFi channels/set up & I also got an USB extension for the dongle haha) but have been struggling with the comfort. I really like the sound and I know I can fix the comfort by swapping the earpads (seen some videos on YT) and adding some Dekoni pads to relief the headband pressure on my head but…that would just increase the $ I’ve already paid (PSA I didn’t paid full MRSP, got them with a $50 discount) for it so I’m not sure it’s worth it. I still have some days left on my return window and I’m not sure what to do, would you say the sound of the Penrose X would justify this over the Max 2s? Or should I send the Penrose back and get these ones? Appreciate it!

      So I was putting some thought into this one. I think the 700 Gen 2 is simply easier to use over the years of ownership, because all the controls are intuitive and consistent. The Penrose wins on pure sound quality potential, but that's about it. You can boost bass and pull down the highs slightly and make the Penrose X sound absolutely bonkers. Dekoni pads will help with ear comfort (not clamp force much) which can make a difference. The pads change the sound quality as well so I wouldn't tune the sound until after you swap pads.
      The 700 Max just gives you more for your dollar. They don't get as loud as Penrose X but they get loud enough, and I like how easy they are to use (even the flip to mute is a blessing compared to the physical switch on the Penrose X). The battery life of the 700 Max hits about 3 times as much as Penrose.
      Short version? Penrose X ultimately still has the best sound. 700 G2 Max is the best overall product for the price, considering how much you get, and it still sounds great.

    • @xboxmaniac90
      @xboxmaniac90 2 роки тому

      @@GadgetryTech Yeah, I agree. I just got my wicked cushions a couple of hours ago (a bit after posting this) and I just made the change, I honestly can say it does improve the comfort by miles and doesn’t modify the sound too much, as I matter of fact I could say it increases soundstage somehow…but that’s subjective to each individual. And with the mods I’m now back to the $300 dlls mark and I’m not sure that sound quality will justify the $100 extra dlls, but again that’s up to each individual. Appreciate the conversation and keep if the awesome reviews!!!

    I currently have the 700 gen 2 and had to replace it 3 times within weeks with TB due to wireless connectivity issues with my Xbox on Halo. I sit about 11ft away from my Xbox and believe it’s due to interference issues, but not 100% sure. I returned and ordered the Gen 2 Max with the receiver now and really hoping this fixes the connectivity issue. You talked a little about this at the end of the video, just wanted to get your input on the difference between the connection using Xbox Sync vs transmitter. Is the connection stronger through the transmitter? My elite controller connects seamlessly with no issues sitting that far away from the Xbox.

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Zohaib. So I've had issues with direct pairing headsets in general on Xbox Series X when using my Elite 2 controller. Those same headsets work flawlessly on my One X so I think it's related to the new console and Microsoft's unusual wireless channel selections. This headset has been great for the most part, but I can't stand even a single hiccup. When that happened, I put the transmitter on a cheap USB extension cord and had 0 issues from there. You may not have any problems at all, but I wanted to mention this particular experience in case anyone else does. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the new Max when it comes!

    Hello thanks for the review, how would you rate the clamp force on these in comparison with the audeze Penrose X as I found the audeze were to strong over long periods and I'm currently still using my Trusty rig 800lx as a result ,how would you rate the soundstage on these?, also the 600 gen 2 max are rated 20hz to 20khz where as the 700 gen 2 max are 20hz to 22khz would this make a discernable difference in sound quality thankyou.

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Luke, thanks! The Penrose X clamp force is still stronger than the 700 gen 2 Max because it doesn't seem to loosen up much at all. The 700 Gen 2 Max has much better ear pads which makes them more tolerable for long listening sessions as well. If you pad swap the Penrose X with some Dekoni pads it will help, but overall they are a little more tight feeling for sure. The Penrose X still has a better mid range presentation than the 700 G2s, and they get noticeable louder. They fall behind a little on most other regards. Custom EQ tuning gives the Penrose X the edge in sound (as it should, considering the price increase and use of Planar drivers).
      Sound stage on the 700 Gen 2 is excellent, and sounds incredibly natural. Normally I call this out with every review but I wasn't on my a-game this week from how sick I was. Audio presentation is seriously amazing on the 700 Gen 2s. I found it very easy to pin point the source of every object in the game, even in the default signature sound mode. If you want a little more presentation in the mids, switch to vocal boost or do some custom EQ tweaking to your liking. I found with the 700 Gen 2 I just enjoyed playing and stopped thinking about tweaking it which is great!

      Portals are an amazing headset, as they should be for the price they go for. The Portals are more comfortable and have a more accurate sound reproduction, with excellent imaging. They also make for an amazing travel headphone thanks to the design and active noise cancelling.
      The Portals do not have simultaneous BT though so you cannot play wirelessly at the same time you have a BT audio source playing. The 700 gen 2 max also seems to have more bass down low, so if you like the rumble effect, they are great at it. Overall both are excellent headphones with different pros and cons at their own price point. I could go on, but you'd be happy with either!
