    Caliper 18mm and 7mm hex bolts on the bottom are pain yo get to. He doesn’t show this part and skips it. If you’re going to show a DIY show the hard stuff that you might encounter. You’ll need a 7mm Allen key and 18mm open end wrench to access the bolts due to lower control arm being in the way. Thanks for making it look easy by skipping that!

      Maybe you should watch the entire video before making silly comments.

      I'm not here to diss the video but what you said is true. That bottom 18mm hex was very hard and I ended up not changing the rotors because I didn't have the open end wrench as you suggested. Pure pain!

    Awesome video, thank you for putting this on here! Only issue was bottom bolt for the caliper bracket. Not much clearance, couldn’t fit a ratchet back there with the 18mm I have, needed a regular 18mm wrench. Also, anyone reading this, don’t engage the parking brake or you won’t get the rotor off.

    This video showed me how to change my own brake pads.
    I thought you needed a special tool to screw the caliper in.Just saved myself a couple hundred dollars.

    The bottom caliper bracket bolt is pita. My ratchet with 7 mm hex socket is a little bit longer.

    grease is a no no ... it attracts dirt and grime ... use a wheel wire brush to carefully remove the rust

    • @fixinit
      @fixinit  4 роки тому

      Thomas Simms So you don’t use grease on any of the brake parts?

    • @Timemachine69
      @Timemachine69 4 роки тому

      Fixin It the grease is for the caliper brake sliding pins/bolts ...clean out old grease and put a little new grease on pins ... if the rubber boots are cracked/ripped, then they can be replaced. ... other than that great job, I didn't actually have to work on my friends 2014 S550; the dealer lied and said pads we're almost worn ... the fronts and back pads had 60-70 percent life on pads; the front/rear pads and sensors (genuine pads) were $280 ... dealer wanted $3,000 but after discounts the price was lowered to $1,500 ... 😲

    I’m about to do the rear brakes on my 2012 550CL what’s the small ratchet you used to remove the pins for the caliper? Hex head? Star? All I heard was 7mm thanks in advance! Very informative 👌👍

    Do you still have to bleed the system someone told me you don’t have to on these just to make sure to top off reservoir

    • @fixinit

      Jimithy The Rapper No, you don’t have to bleed. Just top off if you have to.
