Pushing or Pulling the handle of a torque wrench connected to a nut or bolt produces a torque (turning force) that loosens or tightens the nut or bolt. The N/M meaning for torque is The Newton meter (N/M).

If you are only doing pads, no need to remove caliper. Just remove 2 pins, plus center rod. Pads will slide out from top. Great video

Pads come out from the top after removing the pins and the retainer clip ,no need to remove the caliper completely unless you are changing the rotors .

No need for any tools for Caliper Pistons either. In the caliper housing just push the old brake pads evenly against the rotor.

Wayne, exceptional and detailed video. Your service works on a 2017 Daimler Benz S550 too. FYI finish torque on those caliper bolts is a whopping 135 Newtons. So yank hard on that torque wrench in the downward direction. I don't like to 'break' bolts with a ratchet. I used a straight 21 mm combination wrench. At 14 inches long it has plenty of torque. I have also used your videos sucessfully for rear brakes, rotors, accessory battery change, and plugs. These machines are heavy and robusto. Not your typical Japanese 'lightweight' brake system. Der Beste oder NICHTS!! I conservatively estimate your videos has saved me over $2000 by turning wrenches in my garage versus paying through the nose at the local MB dealership. Regards, Rick. I love your comment about saving money. It made me smile. It is one of the reason why I started the channel. I went to Aviation High School and the the time, The College of Aeronautics, now it called the Vaghn School of Aviation. That is where I got most of my Mechanical experience.

@@WayneARobertson I had a DB 280SLC (W123) when I was in Germany in 1990 and bought the metric tools back then. Saving money on the car maintenance lets me fly the airplane more. Plus I enjoy working on my own vehicles. That way, I know the maintenance and services were done correctly and not "pencil whipped" when the shop is pressed for time. For some reason, Import mechanics charge $150 per hour. The local MB dealership gets $800 for changing you spark plugs??? and then they overcharge you on repair parts too?? Everyone who enjoys Daimler Benz motoring cannot be a Physician or a Barrister. So we're the ones with the skinned knuckles and dirty fingernails!! Ignore the critics and sharpshooters on youtube, your efforts are valued and appreciated by this sextagenerian. "If it ain't right on the ground, it DOESN'T get better in the air."

On my 2000 fifteen, you don't compress the caliper you go into the menu settings with the car in the own position and there's a break service feature you hit OK on that feature and it opens the calipers for you. If you forced them open, you could actually damage them

    • @WayneARobertson

For this car that feature is on the rear brake pad and it works.

Brake fluid is a highly hydroscopic fluid, your brake reservoir should never be left open, especially with high air humidity (dew on the windshield).

  • @VelvetHammer1

You never want to loosen the wheel lug bolts that much without taking most of the weight off the wheel by jacking the car up. Quarter turn should do it. You also do not have to remove the calipers if you are just doing a pad swap. Technically you do not have to remove the caliper to replace the rotor either as it will slide into the caliper without the pads in place. You also missed the high temp grease on the slide points of the pads, that thing is going to squeal like a pig.

It sounds your car is still in park mode. Make sure you to take it out of park mode. Make sure you car has a brick on each of your tires to prevent the car from rolling away. Make sure you put brake fluid in the rrservoir and tighten the cap.

Please do some research before working on your car. Especially when working on your brakes. 1. you removed your calipers for no reason. Just about all brembo calipers allow for removal of pads without removing the caliper. 2. Youre making an instructional video and not torquing your caliper bolts back to spec. 3. You didnt clean up that brake fluid the spilled ( big no no) ... Bro its your BRAKES..

Did you see the 2nd video changing the Front brake pads for the W222 2018 Mercedes Benz S560? It has been updated to remove brake pads without removing the brake caliper. And yes, you MUST remove the brake fluid cap, when pushing the caliper back. Damage could occur if you ate not careful, so to exercise caution over carelessness, I would highly recommend it.

@@WayneARobertson we push 2bar through the reservoir when flushing brakes on Benz. The caps are vented one way to allow air to escape. No reason to remove the cap. Caliper doesn’t need to be removed, the pads pull out of the top.
