I'm making my 10th batch since Christmas... everyone loves them and donates to have me make them. The joy of living in an apartment complex... 😅😅thank you😁
They’re very easy to make for gifts and very cost effective. I don’t know of anyone who doesn’t like them, and IF someone is allergic or doesn’t like peanut butter, just don’t put it in for that single batch and it’s just as good. That was my original recipe, no peanut butter, but it’s certainly good both ways.
these are some of my FAVORITE no bakes. I have high school memories of leaving school at lunch time and running to the local restaurant that sold these and then sneaking back to school! I will absolutely be making these!

@@michaelmcintoshatkyif you’re talking about this recipe, you need 3 cups of oats - andmy recipe book asks for a cup of coconut as well. Do not boil it for more than 1 minute (once it starts boiling, only 1 minute, no more).
I'm not sure if you read comments on old videos but this recipe required no effort to make and yet tastes outstanding. I have loved every single recipe from you so far and you make each one easy to follow. Originally I was going to use some regular cocoa powder on it but i decided to opt for a higher quality one I usually save for cakes. I'm glad I did because the flavor really comes through. Going to try a bit of flaky salt on top of them tomorrow as i'm sure it'll go perfect with them. If anyone has problems with them spreading too much just chill a baking sheet you put parchment paper over and they should set even quicker. I didn't have any room in my fridge due to Christmas prep so I just stuck them outside for like 20 minutes because i's so cold due to the winter storm haha.
If they spread too much it’s bc there isn’t enough oats. Mine asks for 3 cups of oat AND a cup of coconut, and they don’t spread. I can make upwards of 50-60 in one batch. Just don’t boil more than 1 minute or else they will be dry, still tasty, but too dry. They need to be shiny and soft(ish).
My husband loves no bake cookies. When we got married years ago, I made my very first batch and popped them in the fridge where I had cut onions in a bowl. The cookies absorbed the onion flavor and the cookies tasted like chocolate onions. It was years before I made them again.
For those of you who want to a healthier version of this cookie: Works fine with 4 tbsp sugar and 2 tbsp peanutbutter. Yes, you can still taste the peanutbutter. Yes, they still stick together. Yes, they're still DELICIOUS!
Id keep the peanut butter but lower the butter content, maybe try coconut oil? at least for 1/2 the butter. * I've never used it but theres also a low fat ''powdered'' peanut butter as well as pb flavoring used in icing which I believe has 0 fat.
@@eveny119 There is nothing wrong with natural peanut butter, it's healthy fats, but you really can't taste ANYTHING else if you use the amounts written. I've baked as I mentioned above many times and I prefer it as more of a hint than completely over-powering. No need to substitute, real foods are best, just not the american amounts of it ;-)
My recipe book calls for 1 tsp vanilla added once you take it off the stove after boiling 1 minute, then add the dry ingredients once it’s done cooking…
This is basically the same recipe my grandmother used. The only change we’ve made recently was making pecan butter instead of peanut butter and using dark cocoa instead of regular. My favorite cookie!!!!
I have been making no bake cookies for 60 years. But I Use old fashioned oats. I like to set up my ingredients and have everything ready to go no matter what I make. My brothers and I loved them as teens. My hubby, our kids, grandkids and great grands all love them. I enjoy watching your videos.
My creative twist on chocolate no bake cookies is to cool the chocolate longer than required for the recipe. Yes, cook it a bit longer so by the time you add the oats it will immediately start to set in the pan. YES, set in the pan but keep stirring stirring stirring. Then once you are done you can spread those crumbs on a piece of wax paper to cool. Instead of cookies you have chocolate no bake cookie crumbs. You can throw some chocolate no bake cookie crumbs on top of your ice cream! You can grab a handful as a snack, like you would granola! (The truth is, I was making these and let the mix cook to long. I threw in my oats and started to stir and the mix was hardening in the pan and there was no time to drop them into cookies on wax paper. So I continued to stir until all the oats were coated. My niece and sister came into my kitchen and I told them to get out the ice cream. We each had a bowl and threw some of these on top. They loved it! ) Plus I didn't have to tell them I actually goofed making them but we still make a batch of crumbs every few months.
Thank you for sharing the rolling boil thing. I used to have an issue on when to start timing the minute. This helped a bunch. I use EXTRA crunchy peanut butter in my no bakes
Guess what I'm making tonight? I've made a handful of John's recipes. I've come to the conclusion that if what he's making looks good, it most definitely will be! Thank you for sharing all these great recipes.
My mother taught me one like this except no peanut butter. The fudge part was the same but she used a large saucepan and when it had boiled added in 3 cups oats, 1 cup chopped pecans, 1 can coconut and then spooned it out to set up. Still my favorite. Always enjoy your videos.
Ghirardelli is absolutely the best cocoa powder I’ve ever used! I have a recipe for no-bake cookies that I found when I was about eight years old. I made my own little cookbook at the time, typing each recipe in a page that I’d insert into my cookbook. I was quite the little chef. My recipe - which I still make occasionally - doesn’t have peanut butter, though, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE peanut butter! I’ll be making these this weekend, I think.

My mother in law use to make these before she passed away. They are my husbands favorite. I tried to make it once since she's been gone & it came out hard 😂🤦♀️ She didn't add peanut butter though. My husband says the best part is when they are still warm & gooey 💕
Been craving chocolate haystack type cookies for awhile now so I just made these, although I did not follow the recipe to a T. I used less sugar at 1/2 cup and less peanut butter at 1/4 cup. I added sweetened shredded coconut as well as peacans and walnuts and let me tell you these turned out delicious and stuck together just fine! I never stick to a recipe I always tweak to make it best for our family. Thanks for sharing I'm very happy with the outcome of these delicious cookies.
This recipe has come at the perfect time for me. For our youth group at church (meeting in person finally) I have to make cookies! I don’t want to use oven cause it’s hot 🥵 And you know teenagers they love cookies. Thank you 🙏🏻
Good recipe. Just whipped it up at 10:30pm & in a couple minutes the family will flock. I was asked to make some no bakes and I knew I had all the ingredients as this is what I eat when I want a fulfilling snack. I was hoping I didn't have them though considering it was after 10pm when asked. Oh well, now I've got 28 cookies relatively the same size from my cookie scoop I got myself for Christmas.
Hi John, thanks for sharing another wonderful recipe. Can you make this recipe by using granulated stevia for half the amount of regular sugar? Would the cookies still set properly?! I'd love to make these, but, hesitate due to the high amount of sugar required! Thx, Gen from NM
My personal preference is to boil my cookies for 45-50 seconds so they're softer and chewier. If you cook them longer than 60 seconds they'll get dry and crumbly.
Do you mean boil the ingredients he had in the pan for that length of time? I like softer cookies too. Have you ever swapped out the peanut butter for Biscoff spread? I wish I had seen this earlier. My kitchen is HOT 🥵 right now. I just took a lemon tart with swirls of blueberry and strawberry jam in it. My 1st time making a tart so 🤞 I didn't over bake the filling... 😟
@@tammiemartinez6485 correct, everything else is the same except the time that you allow it to rolling boil. I've tried it with Nutella, ended up a bit grainy. I have some Biscoff, I could make a half recipe and test it... You can also substitute half the oats for marshmallows and rice cereal and then pack it in a greased 9x13, makes a killer bake sale bar. Drizzle with white chocolate. Or, hear me out, take almond bark (white melty candy in the chocolate section) and melt with peanut butter, stir in dry roasted peanuts, rice cereal, and marshmallows... My Home Ec mentor called them white peanut clusters. Absolutely fabulous and also no-bake.
Sounds to me like you are cooking at either too high a heat and/or not using enough milk. Whenever I make no bake cookies I make fudge first which requires about 10 minutes of boiling at low heat, I mix the oats and peanut butter after boiling like in this video and it comes out nice and chewy everytime.
@@peshgirl Thank you for the reply and extra info. Don't know if you gave the Biscoff a go yet but thanks for the offer. That was really sweet of you!! I think I'll do a half batch today. I'll come back to let you/everyone else know what my results were. Again, Thanks... 😉 Edit... Okay guys. I made these. I 1/2 the recipe so I could make some with peanut butter and the other 1/2 with Biscoff. I tried the boiling for 45 to 50 seconds on the peanut butter ones and they came out very soft. I had to put them in the fridge so they could set. With the Biscoff I let the mixture boil for about 53 seconds. Not only did the Biscoff work but that time frame worked much better. I was rushing to get them scooped into a cookie shape because that's how fast they set up. These don't need refrigeration. I did put them in there just to see what would happen. Well, they're hard now, lol. That's okay though. I'll just set them out and let them come to room temp. Thanks for your input fellow bakers. Should you make these with Biscoff... Enjoy.... 😋
When I saw the thumbnail I was like PLEASE be made with oats. I'm thrilled you shared this. My grandmother used to make these and I have been missing them.

I just watched your old video of these cookies a few days ago and today's upload spurred me to go for a grocery store run for quick oats. Made these in a snap and they taste amazing! Creaminess from the peanut butter and the chew from the oats .. I've never made no bake cookies before and these turned out excellent.
Sweetie, the last two times I've made them, they stayed gooey. Even if I put them in the frig. I've been making them for years with no problem. Was hoping you could tell me what I'm doing wrong. They are so good, but I have to use a spoon to eat them.
My mom made these (minus the pb + shredded coconut) when I was a kid and I had always thought she made the recipe up because none of the other kids heard of them. Until I met my husband and his mom made them too. It's gonna be hot today, this is a great idea!
Made them today; awesome!..but I did mess up and use 2 tablespoons of vanilla instead of teaspoons and put it in the saucepan mix before the peanut butter and oatmeal instead of with it, lol..but they still are sooo good!

I highly recommend this recipe.
Oh John u came just a bit too late, I would have done these but I already have your chocolate cupcakes in my oven :D
Why did i see this when the chocolate cupcakes are in the oven
My mom used to make these and I have been looking for her recipe forever. Sometimes she just made them with chocolate. Thank you so much 😋
Oh how much I love this kitchen... the nodern barn rustic look and those knobs and copper pans...
My mother in law use to make these before she passed away. They are my husbands favorite. I tried to make it once since she's been gone & it came out hard 😂🤦♀️ She didn't add peanut butter though. My husband says the best part is when they are still warm & gooey 💕
They look delicious John. Can I substitute rice krispies for the oats?
Yes you can and it's like texture of a fast break bar.....I think that's the name
@@heatherhays1141 would it be okay to use normal quaker oats and not their quick oats?
Thank you for sharing this recipe. In India most of us don't use ovens. So this is great. I will definitely try this and let you know.
As someone who have broken oven rn and have been craving for some cookies, this is what I need. Thx man
Super good. Loads of energy and goodness. I used crunchy peanut butter. Thanks
I buy these from a Mennonite store way too frequently. Tonight I decided to make them myself. So glad I did!
This cookies was my childhood!!! First one I learned to make. Still a favorite at 35 🤣💕🤤
This recipe has come at the perfect time for me. For our youth group at church (meeting in person finally) I have to make cookies! I don’t want to use oven cause it’s hot 🥵 And you know teenagers they love cookies. Thank you 🙏🏻
No bake cookies are the eighth wonder of the world. Thank you John!
It seems delicious, would be lovely to have the metric measures for the ingredients too
These cookies were one of my favorite childhood treats.
I used to make these when I was a kid... gosh, brings back memories. They are so good.
3/4 c chunky peanut butter (which I use) is 180 grams. :)
Thanks for a great recipe!
Yep! Same!
Edit... Enjoy.... 😋
I've loved these cookies for YEARS. I'm going to have to try your recipe to see if it's better than the one I learned years ago.
When I saw the thumbnail I was like PLEASE be made with oats. I'm thrilled you shared this. My grandmother used to make these and I have been missing them.
He's so relaxing I could watch him all day
Great video! I like the way you let us see the pans, bowls, and products that you use and where to buy them from. Thank you.
Oh my God, these are favorite. I haven't made these since High School when the class was called Homemade. I never could find the recipe. Now I can make them for my Girl's and my Grandbaby. Thank You So Much!
We called these Cow Patties when I was growing up in Texas. They’re sooooo good.
😂
Saluti dall'Italia 🇮🇹 John!
Thank you for your recipes and your kindness.
I just watched your old video of these cookies a few days ago and today's upload spurred me to go for a grocery store run for quick oats. Made these in a snap and they taste amazing! Creaminess from the peanut butter and the chew from the oats .. I've never made no bake cookies before and these turned out excellent.
Yes, perfect for summer, cuz i hate turning the oven on! Thanks for this recipe (again...lol) keep them coming♡
Sweetie, the last two times I've made them, they stayed gooey. Even if I put them in the frig. I've been making them for years with no problem. Was hoping you could tell me what I'm doing wrong. They are so good, but I have to use a spoon to eat them.
We just made them! They look great and we’re waiting for them to set. Greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴
My mom made these (minus the pb + shredded coconut) when I was a kid and I had always thought she made the recipe up because none of the other kids heard of them. Until I met my husband and his mom made them too. It's gonna be hot today, this is a great idea!
I use to get these in grade school in cafeteria. Anyone who bought lunch and didn't want these cookies I scored big time. Yummy
I love these videos bc i want to start a baking business
Great! We do the same in Argentina but we use dulce de leche instead of peanut butter! Try it ❤️
Yes
They are the easiest cookies and one of my favorites. My brother loves them.
Perfect recipe.....all generations love these cookies.
I just made this recipe and it turned out great! My family loved them. 😋 Keep up the great work John!
Mmmmm no bake cookies, I just made some a week ago, I also put in a cup of coconut 😄
I do without chocolate and add coconut and we use 3 cups of oatmeal and 1/2 cup of PB but sometimes even 3 min boil they don't.set right 🤷♂️
I’m so amazed how these cookies have come back to everyone wanting to make these cookies soo yummy
Thank God I have all the ingredients at home!
Can i use bananas instead of sugar? Thanks! Excellemt recipe! I love your videos!!!
You need to make more cooking videos, they're the best
Myyyyyyy weakness. Love a good no bake.
Made them today; awesome!..but I did mess up and use 2 tablespoons of vanilla instead of teaspoons and put it in the saucepan mix before the peanut butter and oatmeal instead of with it, lol..but they still are sooo good!
I love when fudge and a cookie 🍪 have a "delicious baby!" 😄
I’m babysitting 4 of my grandchildren tonight, so I have just made these to take with me. Yummy 😋
