If he would be smaller and unknown, this could be a clip in a "gym idiots" compilation video and everyone would comment "what the hell is he doing, hahahah".
Ya but when you're in the zone, you're in the zone, time under tension. Probably isn't acting i mean when your muscle is done and you keep in under that tensions it hurts.
He sure had a weird kind of training. That was his way of getting to failure, I guess. But no one can deny the fact that almost nobody , even to this day, he was one of the best physiques and legs that hardly anyone can get. He is almost 70 years old and has a pair of legs most Physique competitors would die for.
That's a static hold peak contraction after the muscle went to failure. A bit extreme for my tastes, but Tom is an extreme guy. No wonder he tore that bicep that time. He trained so damn hard and beyond failure. 007
@@danilojanicijevic1658 Was this friends a catcher named "Magic" or somene related to him ? Based on Michael Gundill's informetions this dude used to record Platz for hours in Gold Gym during the 80's
he's already absolutely destroyed the triceps... this is him pushing it to the limit... optimal? perhaps not... but he was bigger and stronger than you will ever be.. no doubt! boy!
These are funny looking I’d have to admit, however when the goal is to incorporate and produce maximum stress to all of the muscle fibers possible, reps to complete failure produce some funny looking positions at times. It’s not pretty but it is affective. Great question sir👍🏽💪🏽

That was exactly my thought on this one. But rather than laughing at him, everyone is always standing around watching trying to figure out the secret
Well, with this type of training he still belongs there. He was, and still is, a bit of a theatrical figure
0:10 SNEAKED IN THE CALF RAISE AGAIN
We've all been there. Too much cheese enchiladas and not enough fiber. It's been a couple a days and your trying to pump that grumpy out of you.
I love Tom, I always will. But he could be a bit.... overdramatic?
He was heartbroken of course he was dramatic

I love tom as well but I mean that's like what? 70 lbs? lmao.
He's overrated as fk

superb footage of yesteryear!!!! many thanks to you sir!!!
My pleasure man!
Taking "time under tension" to a whole new level! Platz is the G.O.A.T. of intensity!

wtf I THOUGHT HE WAS HANGING HIMSELF
Peak contraction/ isometric holding stimulus method? Go the Quadfather!👍👍👍
Always thought Tom was
Known for his legs, but his arms and body Here look massive thick as well.
I know it looks weird, but my guess is that this clip doesn't show you his full set. This looks like his failure set
Yeah, definitely! This is like after 5 min of doing the exercise already and these are the finshing reps.

Time under tension 💪 X reps
Send him to marvel as the new carnage

@@captainbiceps5209 I know who Magic is and while it might be possible that he recorded these videos, I did not obtain the footage from him.

It’s forced reps after he had reached failure
