- I usually make videos about all cool deals on drums, but today I thought it would be fun and do the opposite and talk about the most expensive drum set I own, an Oriollo Phantom. This kit has a 12"x8" rack tom, 14"x12" floor tom, and 20"x12" bass drum. The kit has seamless hand-spun aluminum shells and is as light as a feather!

The Most Expensive Drum Set I Own - Oriollo Phantom w/ Seamless Aluminum Shells
Whats the most you would spend on a drum set?
Would give $2.50 and a jawbreaker for Bozzio's kit.
My monstrosity of a Rogers Big R kit costed me around 2.5-3K but I'm done adding stuff to it. Every other kit has been craigslist finds on the cheap!
I spent 790 bucks on a Tama Superstar Hyperdrive 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 22 shell pack + 3 tom clamps and fresh ambassadors for all 5 toms. Goes great with my vintage Superstar snare
@@ajbambino I had about $5K in my old kit but the thing is like cars, drums depreciate unless they are rare or celeb owned.
@@craigstrickland1572
I seen him in a clinic. Missing around 4 zeros there homez :D
Let's talk about how we came from Lofi grooves to 6 mins of chopz
Chops?
Yeah
That was really good
Or based on how he’s talking (and his face when talking into the camera), how much weed he smoked before making this vid.
was kinda thinking the same thing. Haven't seen any of these videos in quite some time. Went from sounding good to totally pro. Impressive!
@@davewestner he sounds good, but sometimes he has the vibe of being too nervous. He drags or rushes slightly but could be me, I'm studying Audio Engineering.
Okay, Is it just me or you have acquired more chops 😳
Okay after watching this, ya look much for “flowy “ around the kit
Definitely has
Bröther, I finally acquired the chops.
David once again proving that he cannot stop improving
That kick drum has some legendary punch.
I swear it has a lot to do with being 12" depth. It bugs me that's not more popular. I really dont want 16" but thats how my kit came🤷🏻♂️
@@coreyw5981 send it to Precision and have it cut down.
Hahaha duuuuuuuude that little swaggered fill at 8:09 was siiiiiiiiiiiick! Great song and feel brotendo!
Very tasteful.
Vinne-like, but with more beard.
I came
Song is really good, but what is it?
Sticking is
RLLKRLLK
You always have those cool ass vibing backing tracks.
I own the first Phantom kit that was made and shipped to the States. 13",16" and 22" shells. I have the DW clip on spurs and I changed out those floor tom legs/mounts with PDP legs/mounts. Love this kit.
They make their own hardware now
That's a great kit. ;)
I bought some really expensive sets in the past. A few years ago I bought the dream sets of my youth which were out of my reach financially. No I bought them for around 500-700$ each. Tama Artstar I, Pearl GLX and a Sonor Phonic Plus. The craftsmanship was awesome back in the day. They‘re awesome!
I honestly love the bit at 9:43 The transition from a louder part of the song to a laid back portion, I like
Let’s talk about that Roswell Incident of a ride. It’s a beast!
I’ve rewatched that whole bit of you playing too many times and I can’t stop!
Yup, my Oriollo is also MY most expensive kit - 12/15/20 - and I wouldn’t part with it for love or money. Had to have it. If there’s a kit that speaks to you, BUY IT. (It took a year or two of selling off gear I didn’t use, and saving pennies, but I did it!) Life is short, fulfill your dreams.
It’s worth mentioning that a true set of Oriollos (as built by Oriollo) is equipped with their own beautiful polished stainless steel lugs (and no janky bits, splay, dents, reamed holes, or stacked washers!) The latest iteration is the Tri-drop, a 3 facet teardrop reminiscent of the gorgeous old Sonor lugs. They also do some amazing finishes, as well as other seamless and cast metals… Browse the website for some droolworthy drumporn, but be warned - you might get hooked!
One of my favorite drum demos you've ever made man, awesome!
Everyone talking about chops but have you noticed the strange grooves? Like in the beginning where he purposefully placed those two bass drum hits a little to early and than later he was slightly laid back. Just awesome. This is really the great art of drumming.
Best sounding kit on UA-cam. I really like this style of video. And that tasty jam at the end. Thumbs up my friend
Slowly becoming my favorite channel. You're so genuine and have interesting ideas. Keep it up my friend ❤️
I played a kit of Trick aluminum drums at the Cubby Bear in Chicago about 11 years back. I brought my set because I didn't realize they had their house kit set up, and after sound check was happy to leave mine in the car.
That mix at the end is very nice. The placement of each Tom in the image was locked in.
Def pretty early on in the shell making timeline for Oriollo when these were produced. I had the original prototype in 22,13,16 before selling it to the fine gentleman that commented below and that kit sounded unbelievable. Oriollo sent me a few others over the years...we did a few aluminum, steel, and I had the copper for awhile (heavy af), but ultimately just landed on a matte black aluminum in 13,16, 22, which I still have and use as my main kit. Theres really nothing out there that sound like these drums. Love them
What a good sounding kit! Excellent playing as well! That ride!
The snare is predictably awesome.
Great sounding set of drums, and great playing! Bravo. 👏
finally a vid of the Oriollo kit ! Thanks for that !
Awesome video brother. The recorded sound of your drums sounfs so good and your playing gets better all the time!
Oriollo makes great stuff, and they are damn good people, too!
Those are probably the most beautiful drums especially with clear heads too
LOVE that little burst at 10:20. so sweet.
Really cool vid, revealed to me what kind of sound I want to achieve out of my drums.
Also, the whole track at the end was so good, what a vibe
love the camera work with all the different shots at the end
Whoa! Definitely some of the best playing you have uploaded.
That kit is freakin AWESOME! I am so in love! I am going to find some for myself!
You should make a huge drum set, like taking all of your drums and cymbals and make it one huge colourful kit, I think that would make an awesome video
Love watching and listening to your drumming, very relaxing
Excellent job in solutions for fixing them up! They do sound good especially the bass drum
Such a joy to see your expertise.
Very cool kit David! Have a lot more 'warmth' to them than I would expect aluminum shells to have.
Those toms sound so dry and huge, I LOVE them
That kit is polished up nice man!
Nice playing at the end. That tom break was so nice
This kit sounds fantastic!
Such great playing. Those drums are bad ass.
Dave, nice looking Drumset! Well done! Enjoying watching you're Channel!
Love this kit.
Man, thats some fabulous drumming. Kit sounds nice, too. Thanks!
Fantastic drums and drumming!
Fabulous sounding kit! Money well spent!
The clip in the beginning of this video was so tight Dave great job.
Cool kit! Nice sound, too.
Someone had a good day on the kit...
Cheers m8, looks fantastic!
This kit sounds Great. Wow. That Ride Cymbal..Magical. And Great Playing as Always.
I once saw G Love play live and his bass player had an upright aluminum bass. Would be an epic combo with this kit
Super interesting and informative as always... and your playing is sounding sweeeeeeeeet! :)
sweet tune David. nice playing
Nice kit! And I'm digging the metric modulation or off time shedding 😎👍
Oriollo drums sound absolutely massive in person, even the smaller drums put lots of bigger sized toms/kicks to shame. Been planning to get me a kit some day for a while now.
I saw an oriolo kit at a music store earlier this year. They were painted green. They sounded beautiful.
Great kit, tasty playing!
Insane drumming!!❤❤❤
Cool little drum set. Awesome drumming as usual
Drums sound awesome and I’m diggin’ your cameraman’s hat.
Beautiful set ♥
Wow, they sound like a vintage kit. Love it.
Great playing, i think the best I've heard you play. And also, did those cymbals come straight from heaven? Damn they sound good
You are a great drummer, cool video!! Pocket drummer with tasty fills.
I own to 10, 12, 14 & 20 excellent work Oriollo !!!❤❤❤
Was watching your old videos just as you uploaded this lmao
Very interesting set. Good drumming
Sweet playing
Great sounding drum kit..I love Alluminum
Lovely playing man
Amazing what a difference a good clean and a little bit of paint makes. :)
AT 9:50 holy cow that drumming gap was insanity. Jealous of that little feat
Chops my man! Beautiful!
Oriollo bellmaker snares are one of my favorites I’ve ever heard. I think I read somewhere they use b14 bronze rather than b20 and the alloy sounds warmer and fatter than other bell bronze snares
Have you played/heard Oriollo Bakar? Sounds incredible. Btw, you're right, Bellmaker is made of b14 bronze.
the Noble and Cooley-Zildjian snare was B20 and prone to cracking that's why they came out with the ribbed version. people paid a lot of money for the Paiste-Ocheltree Spirit of 2002 which actually is a B8 bronze (Duluth), DW True Cast (Duluth B8) VK Kast B10. Oriollo tops them being B14.
Not a drummer myself. Fun to see that drummers can geek out as much as guitarists.
Really enjoy your channel.
Beautiful playing:)
I love this drum set.
that bass drum sounds so satisfying after the work you've done! the snare and tom are where the biggest improvements were made tho they sounded kinda weird before lol
But for real. Perhaps me favorite demo track so far. Drumming is crisp, controlled, and nuanced. Great stuff.
That ride is🔥🔥🔥
Nasty playing, this is the best drum channel
Love the vids!! I found you from EMC. Keep jamming!! Great collabs with Eric as well. 👍👍
That closing performance was mesmerising. Hip hop into freestyle jazz into bossa nova, back into jazz??? Insane playing. And a beautiful kit!
My thoughts exactly. David flows into some Gadd licks as in a brief portion of Steve's amazing solo on Aja. Just MHO.
Damn your playing has improved a lot. Awesome chops!
Wow what a beautiful kit. Loving your channel. So many interesting amd inspiring ideas.
I have a rolled aluminium shell kit custom made bt Metro Drums Australia. Hardwood hoops. Its so warm sounding. And lite to carry! Also very beautiful
I just picked up a 4pc Oriollo Phantom Kit. It is the most expensive kit I’ve purchased. So much so, my wife is having me wait 6 months before allowing me to buy a snare. The upside is I’m getting better at playing toms. 😅
Sweet kit man
They sound incredible and Oriollo makes amazing drums. I'm debating they're cast bronze snare drum
Those drums sound sweet!
dude, you SHREDDED in this vid. hell yeah
I have a Pearl Roadshow Series jazz kit in similar sizes.....12 x 18 kick,7 x 10 rack tom,10 x 14 floor tom with legs, & 5 x 13 wood snare....All shells are 6 ply poplar...Has a very similar sound to the kit you're playing here...I use it as my secondary kit....Got it brand new from Guitar Center in 2016....Nice little kit with all new Pearl hardware, stands, & pedals....Price was $350.....
Nice playing
Sounds killer!!
the bass drum sounds amazing.
8:09 love that fill! Always enjoy your videos :) To answer your pinned question: I almost always buy used...don't think I would ever spend more that 500 or 600 on a kit :)
They sound good. Got that aluminum bark.
I've bought a few drums from Hawthorne Drum Shop, Chris is a great dude.
We love your content!!
I also have these Oriollo drums with a 22” BD and 16” FT, but mine have the original hardware except I added a RIMS alloy mount to the rack tom. I do not, however, have your chops or anything close to it! My toms came with Evans UV1 batter heads and they sound amazing. I’d link to a video of them but my lack of chops would be exposed!
