One of the best renditions of this song. I was at this concert, and I believe what made this version extra special, is that the boys came back with a vengeance! Previously, they played Too Far Gone and lost their way in the song at the solo, couldn't finish the song properly and actually apologized, James even said that they would have to come back and perform it better next time. Right after was the Kirk&Rob doodle with the luchadores song which got the crowd ready again. Then came Fade to Black, and you could feel James' intensity, Kirks focus, Rob in the pocket, and even Lars hitting extra hard in the solo at the end. Great humans living the moment to the fullest! so i've been hearing this intro bass track for years live and never came to the conclusion that it was actually cliff's solo
Life, it seems, will fade away
Drifting further, every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters, no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly loss, this can't be real
I cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness, taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone
No one but me
Can save myself
But it's too late
Now I can't think
Think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though
It never existed
Death greets me warm
Now I will just say goodbye
Bye...
