My ex is the father of my 2 boys who almost killed me at 8 months pregnant, lifetime protective order, prison, the works. My oldest son especially, from time to time will ask me about their father and I tell them the truth. People have given me sh!t for it, but I'm so glad you said you should tell the child the info about the parent no matter how dire that information is, because that doesn't define who HE is. He struggles with it sometimes, I'm not going to lie. That kind of information is hard to deliver, but it's the truth. It explains to him why his father isn't in our lives and who their father is. He is NOTHING like him. NOTHING. They both are happy, well adjusted, involved, loving children and they may bear a physical resemblance but not an emotional one. I tell them I truly did get 2 angels from the devil, and it was worth going to Hell to get them and get us out. ❤️

I had children with an abusive partner and I choose to tell them the person he is he doesn’t want anything to do with them without us being together but I have taken a lot of shit from telling the kids the truth about the person he is. I choose to tell them as I didn’t want them to look at him as a perfect person which is what everyone else advised me to tell them when he is nowhere near that description. If they choose to try and have a relationship with their father later on in life at least they have the true facts of the person he was (maybe still is) so they go in with their eyes open if he has changed great but if he hasn’t it doesn’t break them too much as they gave him a chance but they know realistically how it could end ❤

Like many UK residents around my age (mid 40’s), we saw this play out in real time on the TV - and the moment Poor Gazza showed up, will forever be etched in my memory as the most random part of any true crime incident I’ve ever seen! I've seen another YTer cover this case and I'm about 15 minutes in and I'm very excited that you have 2 hours of content for us in this one. I can't wait to hear your opinion on this one as I know to me it seemed so very senseless, as most of them do. As I know you do have to give blame to these perpetrators, Raoul was failed by his caregivers growing up I believe....its very sad to hear in any case, even when they don't grow up to be antisocial sociopaths, that kids are discarded and neglected or abused by their parents. It leaves lasting psychological damage. Great job Emma giving us great, thorough, and consistent content! Much love here from NY 🗽 ❤️

Suicide by cop is an insidious and cowardly thing to do to someone. People seem to think cops can just shoot someone down and go on business as usual. Using your gun while just doing your job is extremely damaging to a cop's psyche. I do still love your assumed conversations though, they are hilarious and they really help to lighten the mood during very heavy subject matter.

Hiya Emma. Another piece of English Criminal History, expertly handled and retold. From your dedication to depth and detail both from the case notes but also through a real talent you have for fleshing out the social and cultural backdrops surrounding these stories. I believe this is what set's you apart from the competition. You never leave any of the characters in a story as one dimensional question marks. The compassion you exercise in painting, portraits of the victims and their loved ones not only shows them great respect but seals their memory in that way in each of us listening. To do the same or at least attempt to for the perpetrators, no matter how reprehensible brings such a clarity to the reality of their actions. So instead of just remembering the sensationalism of a Monster . I'm left with an image of these characters , as disturbing as they are somehow relatable as human beings. In the past I used to write poetry and spoken word pieces and then perform them in theatres and venues around the country , so I know how difficult it is at times to try and inject and balance humor within a piece of work that is not funny at all. Again all I can say is bang on Emma . I love your little two way conversations with one of the characters , as if sat beside you on a chair . Your sassy sarcasm and those moments you almost overreach with a description of what you'd do to a Pedophile or murderer, only to be pulled back with a perfectly times Grrrr.
For my money you are absolutely the best at what you do Emma , the fact that I get a new story every week , consistently :) is such a treat and on a free platform to . People don't know how good they have it. Right , that's me I just felt it about time to punch a few keys on my keyboard and show some appreciation for a truly special storyteller.
If you do ever find yourself looking for a UK case , which while not a murder . Is one of the most sickening and shocking cases I've ever heard . Ian Watkins from the band The Lost Prophets and his crimes are On top of being one of the worst child sexual abuse cases ever , an unforgivable catalogue of police failures . I'd love to hear what you think about it Emma .
Thanks again for being a top Lass .

Some people since these incidents took place have made light or joked about aspects of what Moat did or that Gazza showed up with the fishing rod.
I believe Gazza genuinely thought he could somehow help.
But, as a 45 year old who was born and raised in Belfast and has become somewhat desensitised to violence and trauma being on the news, one of the most disgusting & dispicable acts I have heard was Moat blasting that poor police man in the face at point blank range with a shotgun.
The carnage pain and suffering that one incident caused to that poor innocent man who was only doing a job to feed his family is unthinkable. Less we even begin to consider the knock-on affect it would have on his family also.
I remember a lot of years ago hearing the Policeman speak about the incident and what it had been like for him since and to be honest I had to turn it off as it was so upsetting.

I went through every emotion watching this. Your knowledge and sense of humor provide so much depth to these stories. I’m always wondering why? What happened to this person to make them act out like this? You do the same and from every angle, even if you don’t agree. This is a very sad and tragic story in so many ways.

Listening to this case was really hard for me, but it was validating to hear your disbelief when the police didn't warn her about her abuser being free... I am in a situation like that, I was violently SA by an ex and now that he is out of jail he is back in the city, has his old job walks the same streets as me... Knows where I live... Hell I live in the place where it happened and I can't do anything about this, the fear eats me every single day

A friend of my husband went to the psych ward to try to check his self in . They denied him and ask him to leave. He had begged them and even told them if they didn't admit him he was going to ki*l himself. So he left. Later he came back and stood in front of the glass doors yelling he told them he needed help and what he was going to do. He pulled out a gun and staring at them he shot himself right in front of them. It was so terrible and didn't have to happen.
