Great video! Not as scary as I thought it would be and perfect timing. I have a 74 Z50 with a stripped kick start shaft that is stripped and I would assume this is almost identical to the Z50 case.
Man, I am new at this Honda Trail Stuff (I am a Harley Guy) but I got a beat up Trail 70 that I am trying to fix for my son... After Several Days of Cleaning and Stripping I finally am at the stage of putting back together and to my surprise... No TOP GEAR (3rd Gear I guess). Where there ever any 2 speeds?? (I am basically missing the washer with teeth in the middle, that TOP GEAR, the spacer and The TOP WASHER)
I have a 4 speed and the only gears not meshing are the top two, any idea as to why that might be? they line up when you hold them against each other. When is spin it with them off it is just fine but with them on it binds up.

Great video explaration i have issue when i tighten the 6mm bolt w washer my drum doesnt want to move ? Do i just finger tight w blue loctite thx

They had 3 and 4 speeds. The clearance in there is tightS it doesn’t take much to get the trans locked up.

It sounds like the gears were swapped between the two sets. My understanding is that the pitch of each set is unique and can’t be interchanged.
Does not tell how to convert 3 up to 3 down.
